|
1 羅波安往示劍去，因為以色列人都到了示劍，要立他作王。

|
2 And it came to pass,1961 when Jeroboam3379 the son1121 of Nebat,5028 who1931 was in Egypt,4714 whither834 he had fled1272 from the presence4480 6440 of Solomon8010 the king,4428 heard8085 it, that Jeroboam3379 returned7725 out of Egypt.4480 4714

2 尼八的兒子耶羅波安先前躲避所羅門王，逃往埃及，住在那裏；他聽見這事，就從埃及回來。

3 And they sent7971 and called7121 him. So Jeroboam3379 and all3605 Israel3478 came935 and spoke1696 to413 Rehoboam,7346 saying,559
|
3 以色列人打發人去請他。耶羅波安［Jeroboam］就和以色列眾人來見羅波安，對他說：

4 Thy father1 made853 our yoke5923 grievous:7185 now6258 therefore ease7043 thou somewhat the grievous7186 servitude4480 5656 of thy father,1 and his heavy3515 yoke4480 5923 that834 he put5414 upon5921 us, and we will serve5647 thee.

4 「你父親使我們負重軛作苦工，現在求你使我們作的苦工負的重軛輕鬆些，我們就事奉你。」

|
5 And he said559 unto413 them, Come again7725 unto413 me after5750 three7969 days.3117 And the people5971 departed.1980
|
5 羅波安對他們說：「第三天再來見我吧。」民就去了。
|
|
6 And king4428 Rehoboam7346 took counsel3289 with854 the old men2205 that834 had1961 stood5975 before6440 Solomon8010 his father1 while he yet lived,1961 2416 saying,559 What349 counsel give3289 ye859 me to return7725 answer1697 to this2088 people?5971

6 羅波安之父所羅門在世的日子，有侍立在他面前的老年人，羅波安王和他們商議，說：「你們給我出個甚麼主意，我好回覆這民。」

7 And they spoke1696 unto413 him, saying,559 If518 thou be1961 kind2896 to this2088 people,5971 and please7521 them, and speak1696 good2896 words1697 to413 them, they will be1961 thy servants5650 forever.3605 3117
|
7 老年人對他說：「王若恩待這民，使他們喜悅，用好話回覆他們，他們就永遠作王的僕人。」
|
|
8 But he forsook5800 853 the counsel6098 which834 the old men2205 gave3289 him, and took counsel3289 with854 the young men3206 that834 were brought up1431 with854 him, that stood5975 before6440 him.
|
8 王卻不用老年人給他出的主意，就和那些與他一同長大、在他面前侍立的少年人商議，

|
9 And he said559 unto413 them, What4100 advice give3289 ye859 that we may return7725 answer1697 853 to this2088 people,5971 which834 have spoken1696 to413 me, saying,559 Ease7043 somewhat4480 the yoke5923 that834 thy father1 did put5414 upon5921 us?
|
9 說：「這民對我說：『你父親使我們負重軛，求你使我們輕鬆些』；你們給我出個甚麼主意，我好回覆他們。」
|
|
10 And the young men3206 that834 were brought up1431 with854 him spoke1696 unto854 him, saying,559 Thus3541 shalt thou answer559 the people5971 that834 spoke1696 unto413 thee, saying,559 Thy father1 made our yoke heavy,3513 853 5923 but make thou it somewhat lighter859 7043 for4480 5921 us; thus3541 shalt thou say559 unto413 them, My little6995 finger shall be thicker5666 than my father's1 loins.4480 4975

10 那同他長大的少年人說：「這民對王說：『你父親使我們負重軛，求你使我們輕鬆些』；王要回答［answer］他們如此說：『我的小拇指比我父親的腰還粗；

11 For whereas6258 my father1 put6006 a heavy3515 yoke5923 upon5921 you, I589 will put more3254 to5921 your yoke:5923 my father1 chastised3256 you with whips,7752 but I589 will chastise you with scorpions.6137
|
11 我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們。』」
|
|
12 So Jeroboam3379 and all3605 the people5971 came935 to413 Rehoboam7346 on the third7992 day,3117 as834 the king4428 bade,1696 saying,559 Come again7725 to413 me on the third7992 day.3117
|
12 耶羅波安和眾百姓遵著羅波安王所說「你們第三天再來見我」的那話，第三天他們果然來了。
|
|
13 And the king4428 answered6030 them roughly;7186 and king4428 Rehoboam7346 forsook5800 853 the counsel6098 of the old men,2205
|
13 羅波安王用嚴厲的話回覆他們，不用老年人所出的主意，
|
|
14 And answered1696 413 them after the advice6098 of the young men,3206 saying,559 My father1 made your yoke heavy,3513 853 5923 but I589 will add3254 thereto:5921 my father1 chastised3256 you with whips,7752 but I589 will chastise you with scorpions.6137
|
14 照著少年人所出的主意對他們說：「我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛；我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們。」
|
|
15 So the king4428 hearkened8085 not3808 unto413 the people:5971 for3588 the cause5252 was1961 of4480 5973 God,430 that4616 the LORD3068 might perform6965 853 his word,1697 which834 he spoke1696 by the hand3027 of Ahijah281 the Shilonite7888 to413 Jeroboam3379 the son1121 of Nebat.5028

15 王不肯依從百姓；這事乃出於神，為要應驗耶和華藉示羅人亞希雅對尼八兒子耶羅波安所說的話。
|
|
16 And when all3605 Israel3478 saw that3588 the king4428 would not3808 hearken8085 unto them, the people5971 answered7725 853 the king,4428 saying,559 What4100 portion2506 have we in David?1732 and we have none3808 inheritance5159 in the son1121 of Jesse:3448 every man376 to your tents,168 O Israel:3478 and now,6258 David,1732 see7200 to thine own house.1004 So all3605 Israel3478 went1980 to their tents.168

16 以色列眾民見王不依從他們，就回答［answered］王說：我們與大衛有甚麼分兒呢？與耶西的兒子並沒有關涉。以色列［Israel］哪，各回各家去吧。大衛［David］啊，自己顧自己吧。於是，以色列眾人都回自己家裏去了。

17 But as for the children1121 of Israel3478 that dwelt3427 in the cities5892 of Judah,3063 Rehoboam7346 reigned4427 over5921 them.
|
17 唯獨住在猶大城邑的以色列人，羅波安仍作他們的王。
|
|
18 Then king4428 Rehoboam7346 sent7971 853 Hadoram1913 that834 was over5921 the tribute;4522 and the children1121 of Israel3478 stoned7275 him with stones,68 that he died.4191 But king4428 Rehoboam7346 made speed553 to get him up5927 to his chariot,4818 to flee5127 to Jerusalem.3389

18 那時［Then］，羅波安王差遣掌管貢項［tribute］之人的哈多蘭往以色列人那裏去；以色列人就用石頭打死他。羅波安王急忙上車，逃回耶路撒冷去了。

|
19 And Israel3478 rebelled6586 against the house1004 of David1732 unto5704 this2088 day.3117
|
19 這樣，以色列［Israel］背叛大衛家，直到今日。
