Chapter 7

1 Now when Solomon8010 had made an end3615 of praying,6419 the fire784 came down3381 from heaven,4480 8064 and consumed398 the burnt offering5930 and the sacrifices;2077 and the glory3519 of the LORD3068 filled4390 853 the house.1004

2 And the priests3548 could3201 not3808 enter935 into413 the house1004 of the LORD,3068 because3588 the glory3519 of the LORD3068 had filled4390 853 the LORD's3068 house.1004

3 And when all3605 the children1121 of Israel3478 saw7200 how the fire784 came down,3381 and the glory3519 of the LORD3068 upon5921 the house,1004 they bowed3766 themselves with their faces639 to the ground776 upon5921 the pavement,7531 and worshiped,7812 and praised3034 the LORD,3068 saying, For3588 he is good;2896 for3588 his mercy2617 endureth forever.5769

4 Then the king4428 and all3605 the people5971 offered2076 sacrifices2077 before6440 the LORD.3068

5 And king4428 Solomon8010 offered2076 853 a sacrifice2077 of twenty6242 and two8147 thousand505 oxen,1241 and a hundred3967 and twenty6242 thousand505 sheep:6629 so the king4428 and all3605 the people5971 dedicated2596 853 the house1004 of God.430

6 And the priests3548 waited5975 on5921 their offices:4931 the Levites3881 also with instruments3627 of music7892 of the LORD,3068 which834 David1732 the king4428 had made6213 to praise3034 the LORD,3068 because3588 his mercy2617 endureth forever,5769 when David1732 praised1984 by their ministry;3027 and the priests3548 sounded2690 trumpets before5048 them, and all3605 Israel3478 stood.5975

7 Moreover Solomon8010 hallowed6942 853 the middle8432 of the court2691 that834 was before6440 the house1004 of the LORD:3068 for3588 there8033 he offered6213 burnt offerings,5930 and the fat2459 of the peace offerings,8002 because3588 the brazen5178 altar4196 which834 Solomon8010 had made6213 was not able3201 3808 to receive3557 853 the burnt offerings,5930 and the meat offerings,4503 and the fat.2459

8 Also at the same1931 time6256 Solomon8010 kept6213 853 the feast2282 seven7651 days,3117 and all3605 Israel3478 with5973 him, a very3966 great1419 congregation,6951 from the entering in4480 935 of Hamath2574 unto5704 the river5158 of Egypt.4714

9 And in the eighth8066 day3117 they made6213 a solemn assembly:6116 for3588 they kept6213 the dedication2598 of the altar4196 seven7651 days,3117 and the feast2282 seven7651 days.3117

10 And on the three7969 and twentieth6242 day3117 of the seventh7637 month2320 he sent7971 853 the people5971 away into their tents,168 glad8056 and merry2896 in heart3820 for5921 the goodness2896 that834 the LORD3068 had showed6213 unto David,1732 and to Solomon,8010 and to Israel3478 his people.5971

11 Thus Solomon8010 finished3615 853 the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and the king's4428 house:1004 and all3605 that came935 into5921 Solomon's8010 heart3820 to make6213 in the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and in his own house,1004 he prosperously effected.6743

12 And the LORD3068 appeared7200 to413 Solomon8010 by night,3915 and said559 unto him, I have heard8085 853 thy prayer,8605 and have chosen977 this2088 place4725 to myself for a house1004 of sacrifice.2077

13 If2005 I shut up6113 heaven8064 that there be1961 no3808 rain,4306 or if2005 I command6680 5921 the locusts2284 to devour398 the land,776 or if518 I send7971 pestilence1698 among my people;5971

14 If my people,5971 which834 are called7121 5921 by my name,8034 shall humble themselves,3665 and pray,6419 and seek1245 my face,6440 and turn7725 from their wicked7451 ways;4480 1870 then will I589 hear8085 from4480 heaven,8064 and will forgive5545 their sin,2403 and will heal7495 853 their land.776

15 Now6258 mine eyes5869 shall be1961 open,6605 and mine ears241 attent7183 unto the prayer8605 that is made in this2088 place.4725

16 For now6258 have I chosen977 and sanctified6942 853 this2088 house,1004 that my name8034 may be1961 there8033 forever:5704 5769 and mine eyes5869 and mine heart3820 shall be1961 there8033 perpetually.3605 3117

17 And as for thee,859 if518 thou wilt walk1980 before6440 me, as834 David1732 thy father1 walked,1980 and do6213 according to all3605 that834 I have commanded6680 thee, and shalt observe8104 my statutes2706 and my judgments;4941

18 Then will I establish6965 853 the throne3678 of thy kingdom,4438 according as834 I have covenanted3772 with David1732 thy father,1 saying,559 There shall not3808 fail3772 thee a man376 to be ruler4910 in Israel.3478

19 But if518 ye859 turn away,7725 and forsake5800 my statutes2708 and my commandments,4687 which834 I have set5414 before6440 you, and shall go1980 and serve5647 other312 gods,430 and worship7812 them;

20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots5428 out of4480 5921 my land127 which834 I have given5414 them; and this2088 house,1004 which834 I have sanctified6942 for my name,8034 will I cast out7993 of4480 5921 my sight,6440 and will make5414 it to be a proverb4912 and a byword8148 among all3605 nations.5971

21 And this2088 house,1004 which834 is1961 high,5945 shall be an astonishment8074 to every one3605 that passeth5674 by5921 it; so that he shall say,559 Why4100 hath the LORD3068 done6213 thus3602 unto this2063 land,776 and unto this2088 house?1004

22 And it shall be answered,559 Because5921 834 they forsook5800 853 the LORD3068 God430 of their fathers,1 which834 brought them forth3318 out of the land4480 776 of Egypt,4714 and laid hold2388 on other312 gods,430 and worshiped7812 them, and served5647 them: therefore5921 3651 hath he brought935 853 all3605 this2063 evil7451 upon5921 them.

Chapter 7

1 NOW when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings and the wood; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.

3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down and the glory of the LORD filled the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement and worshipped, and said to each other. Praise the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.

4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.

5 And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep; so the king and all the people dedicated the house of the LORD.

6 And the priests waited on their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music praised the LORD, and this is what they said in their praises. in the songs of David, Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy endures for ever; and the priests sounded with curved and straight trumpets, and all the people of Israel stood.

7 Moreover Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD; for there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was too small to hold the burnt offerings and the meal offerings and the fat.

8 Also at that time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from Hamath to the river of Egypt the people were assembled before the LORD our God.

9 Seven days were given for the feast and seven days for the dedication of the house; the extent of both occasions was fourteen days.

10 And on the fifteenth day of the month of Tishrin the king dismissed the people; and the people blessed the king and departed to their towns, glad and merry in heart, and giving thanks and praises for all the goodness that the LORD had shown to David his servant and to Solomon his son and to Israel his people.

11 And it came to pass that King Solomon finished building the house of the LORD and the king's house; and all that Solomon had reasoned in his mind to make in the house of the LORD and in the king's house he successfully accomplished.

12 And the LORD appeared to Solomon that night and said to him, I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

13 If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

14 If my .people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.

15 And even now my eyes shall be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.

16 For now I have chosen this house for myself, that my glory may be in it for ever, and that my good works and my will shall be done in the midst of it perpetually.

17 And as for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, with innocence of heart and uprightness, to do everything that I have commanded you and to observe my commandments and my statutes;

18 Then I will establish the throne of your kingdom for ever, as I have covenanted with David your father, saying, There shall not fail you a son in my presence to sit on the throne of Israel.

19 But if you turn away from my ways, both you and your children, and shall not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, and shall go and serve the idols of the nations and worship them;

20 Then I will scatter you out of this land which I have given you; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, I will uproot out of my sight, and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

21 And this house shall be in ruins, and every one passing by shall stand and shake his head in amazement, and say, Why has the LORD done thus to this great city and to this house?

22 And they will say, Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and they went and revered the gods of the Gentiles and served them and worshipped them; therefore the LORD has brought all this evil upon them.
