6 For,3588 lo,2009 I raise up6965853 the Chaldeans,3778that bitter4751 and hasty4116 nation,1471 which shall march1980 through the breadth4800 of the land,776 to possess3423 the dwelling places4908that are not3808 theirs.
7 They1931are terrible366 and dreadful:3372 their judgment4941 and their dignity7613 shall proceed3318 of4480 themselves.
8 Their horses5483 also are swifter7043 than the leopards,44805246 and are more fierce2300 than the evening6153 wolves:44802061 and their horsemen6571 shall spread6335 themselves, and their horsemen6571 shall come935 from far;44807350 they shall fly5774 as the eagle5404that hasteth2363 to eat.398

2 «ГОСПОДИ, сколько же еще взывать мне о помощи, а Ты не слышишь? Вопию к Тебе о насилии, а Ты не спасаешь.
3 Для чего попустил Ты, чтобы видел я это зло и смотрел на несчастье? На глазах у меня — насилие и грабеж, вражда и раздоры усиливаются.
4 Потому и закон не имеет силы, и суду правому хода нет, ведь злодей запугивает честного человека — оттого и выходит суд неправедный».
5 «Посмотрите на народы вокруг васи вглядитесь — вы изумитесь, ибо то, что совершается ныне, ошеломит вас, не поверили б вы сему, если бы вам о том рассказали!
6 Вот Я поднимаю халдеев — народ беспощадный и оголтелый, пройдут они по земле от края до края, захватывая селения, им не принадлежащие.
7 Грозен народ сей, и страх он наводит, сам себе — правосудие, сам себе власть.
8 Кони его барсов быстрее, проворней стаи волчьей ночной, всадники их скачут галопом и налетают издалека, как орел, что добычу свою настигает.
9 Все они насилия жаждут, вперед их лица устремлены, набирают пленников — не сосчитать, что песку.
10 Над царями они издеваются, над князьями насмехаются, над всеми крепостями глумятся — насыпав земляной вал, захватывают их.
11 Налетают, как ветер, и прочь уносятся, навлекая вину на себя, ибо силу приписывают божеству своему».
12 «Но ведь только Ты вечен, о ГОСПОДИ?! Бог мой, Святыня моя, смерть над Тобою не властна! А их, ГОСПОДИ, Ты Сам уже на суд обрек, Скала моя, для наказания Ты их определил.
13 И чистым ли очам Твоим на зло смотреть, ведь на нечестие не можешь Ты взирать? Почему же Ты смотришь на предательства и молчишь, когда злодей поедает того, кто его честней?
14 Уподобил ты людей рыбам морским, роящимся насекомым, у которых правителя нет.
15 Отлавливают их крючком, волокут неводами, в сети заманивают — и радостно ликуют!
16 За всё за это рыбак приносит неводу жертвы и сетям своим благовония воскуряет, ведь им обязан он жирным куском и трапезой обильной!
17 И неужели он так и будет наполнять и освобождать свою сеть, уничтожая народы без всякой жалости?»
