Chapter 32

1 After310 these428 things,1697 and the establishment571 thereof, Sennacherib5576 king4428 of Assyria804 came,935 and entered935 into Judah,3063 and encamped2583 against5921 the fenced1219 cities,5892 and thought559 to win1234 them for413 himself.

2 And when Hezekiah3169 saw7200 that3588 Sennacherib5576 was come,935 and that he was purposed6440 to fight4421 against5921 Jerusalem,3389

3 He took counsel3289 with5973 his princes8269 and his mighty men1368 to stop5640 853 the waters4325 of the fountains5869 which834 were without4480 2351 the city:5892 and they did help5826 him.

4 So there was gathered6908 much7227 people5971 together, who stopped5640 853 all3605 the fountains,4599 and the brook5158 that ran7857 through the midst8432 of the land,776 saying,559 Why4100 should the kings4428 of Assyria804 come,935 and find4672 much7227 water?4325

5 Also he strengthened himself,2388 and built up1129 853 all3605 the wall2346 that was broken,6555 and raised it up5927 to5921 the towers,4026 and another312 wall2346 without,2351 and repaired2388 853 Millo4407 in the city5892 of David,1732 and made6213 darts7973 and shields4043 in abundance.7230

6 And he set5414 captains8269 of war4421 over5921 the people,5971 and gathered them together6908 to413 him in413 the street7339 of the gate8179 of the city,5892 and spoke1696 comfortably5921 3824 to them, saying,559

7 Be strong2388 and courageous,553 be not afraid3372 408 nor408 dismayed2865 for4480 6440 the king4428 of Assyria,804 nor for4480 6440 all3605 the multitude1995 that834 is with5973 him: for3588 there be more7227 with5973 us than with4480 5973 him:

8 With5973 him is an arm2220 of flesh;1320 but with5973 us is the LORD3068 our God430 to help5826 us, and to fight3898 our battles.4421 And the people5971 rested themselves5564 upon5921 the words1697 of Hezekiah3169 king4428 of Judah.3063

9 After310 this2088 did Sennacherib5576 king4428 of Assyria804 send7971 his servants5650 to Jerusalem,3389 (but he1931 himself laid siege against5921 Lachish,3923 and all3605 his power4475 with5973 him,) unto5921 Hezekiah3169 king4428 of Judah,3063 and unto5921 all3605 Judah3063 that834 were at Jerusalem,3389 saying,559

10 Thus3541 saith559 Sennacherib5576 king4428 of Assyria,804 Whereon5921 4100 do ye859 trust,982 that ye abide3427 in the siege4692 in Jerusalem?3389

11 Doth not3808 Hezekiah3169 persuade5496 you to give over5414 yourselves to die4191 by famine7458 and by thirst,6772 saying,559 The LORD3068 our God430 shall deliver5337 us out of the hand4480 3709 of the king4428 of Assyria?804

12 Hath not3808 the same1931 Hezekiah3169 taken away5493 853 his high places1116 and his altars,4196 and commanded559 Judah3063 and Jerusalem,3389 saying,559 Ye shall worship7812 before6440 one259 altar,4196 and burn incense6999 upon5921 it?

13 Know3045 ye not3808 what4100 I589 and my fathers1 have done6213 unto all3605 the people5971 of other lands?776 were the gods430 of the nations1471 of those lands776 any ways able3201 3201 to deliver5337 853 their lands776 out of mine hand?4480 3027

14 Who4310 was there among all3605 the gods430 of those428 nations1471 that834 my fathers1 utterly destroyed,2763 that834 could3201 deliver5337 853 his people5971 out of mine hand,4480 3027 that3588 your God430 should be able3201 to deliver5337 you out of mine hand?4480 3027

15 Now6258 therefore let not408 Hezekiah2396 deceive5377 you, nor408 persuade5496 you on this manner,2063 neither408 yet believe539 him: for3588 no3808 3605 god433 of any3605 nation1471 or kingdom4467 was able3201 to deliver5337 his people5971 out of mine hand,4480 3027 and out of the hand4480 3027 of my fathers:1 how much less637 3588 shall your God430 deliver5337 you out of mine hand?4480 3027

16 And his servants5650 spoke1696 yet5750 more against5921 the LORD3068 God,430 and against5921 his servant5650 Hezekiah.3169

17 He wrote3789 also letters5612 to rail2778 on the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 and to speak559 against5921 him, saying,559 As the gods430 of the nations1471 of other lands776 have not3808 delivered5337 their people5971 out of mine hand,4480 3027 so3651 shall not3808 the God430 of Hezekiah3169 deliver5337 his people5971 out of mine hand.4480 3027

18 Then they cried7121 with a loud1419 voice6963 in the Jews' speech3066 unto5921 the people5971 of Jerusalem3389 that834 were on5921 the wall,2346 to frighten3372 them, and to trouble926 them; that4616 they might take3920 853 the city.5892

19 And they spoke1696 against413 the God430 of Jerusalem,3389 as against5921 the gods430 of the people5971 of the earth,776 which were the work4639 of the hands3027 of man.120

20 And for5921 this2063 cause Hezekiah3169 the king,4428 and the prophet5030 Isaiah3470 the son1121 of Amoz,531 prayed6419 and cried2199 to heaven.8064

21 And the LORD3068 sent7971 an angel,4397 which cut off3582 all3605 the mighty men1368 of valor,2428 and the leaders5057 and captains8269 in the camp4264 of the king4428 of Assyria.804 So he returned7725 with shame1322 of face6440 to his own land.776 And when he was come into935 the house1004 of his god,430 they that came forth4480 3329 of his own bowels4578 slew5307 him there8033 with the sword.2719

22 Thus the LORD3068 saved3467 853 Hezekiah3169 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 from the hand4480 3027 of Sennacherib5576 the king4428 of Assyria,804 and from the hand4480 3027 of all3605 other, and guided5095 them on every side.4480 5439

23 And many7227 brought935 gifts4503 unto the LORD3068 to Jerusalem,3389 and presents4030 to Hezekiah3169 king4428 of Judah:3063 so that he was magnified5375 in the sight5869 of all3605 nations1471 from thenceforth.4480 310 3651

24 In those1992 days3117 Hezekiah3169 was sick2470 to5704 the death,4191 and prayed6419 unto413 the LORD:3068 and he spoke559 unto him, and he gave5414 him a sign.4159

25 But Hezekiah3169 rendered not again7725 3808 according to the benefit1576 done unto5921 him; for3588 his heart3820 was lifted up:1361 therefore there was1961 wrath7110 upon5921 him, and upon5921 Judah3063 and Jerusalem.3389

26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah3169 humbled himself3665 for the pride1363 of his heart,3820 both he1931 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem,3389 so that the wrath7110 of the LORD3068 came935 not3808 upon5921 them in the days3117 of Hezekiah.3169

27 And Hezekiah3169 had1961 exceeding3966 much7235 riches6239 and honor:3519 and he made6213 himself treasuries214 for silver,3701 and for gold,2091 and for precious3368 stones,68 and for spices,1314 and for shields,4043 and for all manner3605 of pleasant2532 jewels;3627

28 Storehouses4543 also for the increase8393 of corn,1715 and wine,8492 and oil;3323 and stalls723 for all manner3605 of beasts,929 929 and cotes220 for flocks.5739

29 Moreover he provided6213 him cities,5892 and possessions4735 of flocks6629 and herds1241 in abundance:7230 for3588 God430 had given5414 him substance7399 very3966 much.7227

30 This same1931 Hezekiah3169 also stopped5640 853 the upper5945 watercourse4161 4325 of Gihon,1521 and brought it straight3474 down4295 to the west side4628 of the city5892 of David.1732 And Hezekiah3169 prospered6743 in all3605 his works.4639

31 Howbeit3651 in the business of the ambassadors3887 of the princes8269 of Babylon,894 who sent7971 unto5921 him to inquire of1875 the wonder4159 that834 was1961 done in the land,776 God430 left5800 him, to try5254 him, that he might know3045 all3605 that was in his heart.3824

32 Now the rest3499 of the acts1697 of Hezekiah,3169 and his goodness,2617 behold,2009 they are written3789 in the vision2377 of Isaiah3470 the prophet,5030 the son1121 of Amoz,531 and in5921 the book5612 of the kings4428 of Judah3063 and Israel.3478

33 And Hezekiah3169 slept7901 with5973 his fathers,1 and they buried6912 him in the chiefest4608 of the sepulchers6913 of the sons1121 of David:1732 and all3605 Judah3063 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 did6213 him honor3519 at his death.4194 And Manasseh4519 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.8478

4 І було зі́брано багато народу, і вони позатика́ли всі джере́ла й поті́к, що плив у Краю́, говорячи: „На́що б мали так багато води асирійські царі, коли при́йдуть?“

5 І він підбадьорився, і забудував увесь ви́ломаний мур, і поставив на нього ба́шту, а поза тим муром — інший мур, і зміцни́в Мілло в Давидовому Місті, і наробив багато ра́тищ та щиті́в.

6 І понаставляв він над народом військо́вих зверхників, і зібрав їх до себе, на майда́н біля місько́ї брами, і промовляв до їхнього серця, говорячи:

7 „Будьте міцні́ та будьте мужні, не бійтеся й не жахайтеся перед асирійським царем та перед усім тим на́товпом, що з ним, бо з нами більше, ніж із ним.

8 З ним раме́но тіле́сне, а з нами Господь, Бог наш, щоб допомагати нам та воюва́ти наші ві́йни!“ І оперся народ на слова Єзекії, Юдиного царя.

9 По цьому послав Санхері́в, асирійський цар, своїх рабів до Єрусалиму, — а він сам таборува́в проти Лахішу, і вся сила його була́ з ним, — до Єзекії, Юдиного царя, і до всього Юди, що в Єрусалимі, сказати:

10 „Так говорить Санхері́в, цар асирійський: На що́ ви сподіва́єтесь і сидите в обло́зі в Єрусалимі?

11 Оце Єзекія намовляє вас, щоб дати вас на смерть від голоду та від спра́ги, кажучи: Господь, Бог наш, урятує нас від руки асирійського царя.

12 Чи ж не він, Єзекія, поруйнував па́гірки його та же́ртівники його, і сказав до Юди та до Єрусалиму, говорячи: Перед одним же́ртівником будете вклонятися й на ньому бу́дете кадити?

13 Чи ж ви не знаєте, що́ зробив я та батьки мої всім наро́дам земель? Чи справді могли бо́ги наро́дів тих країв урятувати свій край від моєї руки?

14 Хто́ з-поміж усіх богів цих народів, яких мої батьки вчинили закляттям, міг урятувати свій народ від моєї руки? Як зможе Бог ваш урятувати вас від моєї руки?

15 А тепер нехай не обманює вас Єзекія, і нехай не зво́дить вас, як оце. І не вірте йому, бо не зміг жо́ден бог жо́дного наро́ду та царства врятувати свого народу від моєї руки та від руки батьків моїх, то тим більше ваші бо́ги не врятують вас від моєї руки!“

16 І ще говорили його раби на Господа, Бога, та на Його раба Єзекію.

17 І писав він листи́ з ла́йкою на Господа, Ізраїлевого Бога, і говорив на Нього таке: „Як бо́ги народів тих країв не спасли свого народу від моєї руки, так не спасе Єзекіїн Бог народу Свого від моєї руки!“

18 І кли́кали вони сильним голосом по-юде́йському до єрусалимського народу, що був на мурі, щоб настраши́ти їх та налякати їх, щоб здобути місто.

19 І говорили вони на Бога єрусалимського, як на богі́в землі, чин лю́дських рук.

20 І молився цар Єзекія та пророк Ісая, син Амосів, про це, і кликали до неба.

21 І послав Господь Ангола, і він вигубив кожного хороброго вояка́, і володаря, і зве́рхника в табо́рі царя асирійського, і той вернувся з со́ромом обличчя до кра́ю свого. А коли він прийшов до дому бога свого, то дехто з тих, що вийшли з нутра́ його, вбили його там мече́м.

22 І спас Господь Єзекію та єрусалимських ме́шканців від руки Санхеріва, царя асирійського, та від руки всякого, і дав їм мир навко́ло.

23 І багато-хто прино́сили да́ра для Господа до Єрусалиму та дорогоцінні речі для Єзекії, Юдиного царя. І він по цьо́му піднісся в оча́х усіх наро́дів!

24 Тими днями занеду́жав Єзекія смертельно. І він молився до Господа, — і Він відповів йому, і дав йому знака.

25 Та Єзекія не віддав так, як було зро́блено йому, бо запишни́лося серце його. І був гнів Божий на нього, і на Юдею, та на Єрусали́м.

26 Але впокори́вся Єзекія в пишноті серця свого, він та ме́шканці Єрусалиму, — і не прийшов на них Господній гнів за днів Єзекії.

27 І було в Єзекії дуже багато багатства та слави, і він поробив собі скарбни́ці на срібло й на золото, та на камінь дорогий, і на па́хощі, і на щити́, і на всякі дорогі речі,

28 і клуні́ на врожай збі́жжя, і виноградного соку, і свіжої оливи, і жолоби́ для всякої худоби, і жолоби́ для чері́д.

29 І побудував він собі міста́, і мав великий набу́ток худоби дрібно́ї та худоби великої, бо Бог дав йому́ дуже великий маєток.

30 І він, Єзекія, заткнув вихід води горі́шнього Ґіхону, і вивів її вдоли́ну на за́хід від Давидового Міста. І мав Єзекія у́спіх в усіх своїх діла́х.

31 Тільки при посла́х вавилонських зверхників, посланих до нього, щоб вивідати про чудо, що було в Краю́, залишив був його Бог, щоб ви́пробувати його, щоб пізнати все в його серці.

13 Чи ж ви не знаєте, що́ зробив я та батьки мої всім наро́дам земель? Чи справді могли бо́ги наро́дів тих країв урятувати свій край від моєї руки?

16 And his servants5650 spoke1696 yet5750 more against5921 the LORD3068 God,430 and against5921 his servant5650 Hezekiah.3169

16 І ще говорили його раби на Господа, Бога, та на Його раба Єзекію.

17 І писав він листи́ з ла́йкою на Господа, Ізраїлевого Бога, і говорив на Нього таке: „Як бо́ги народів тих країв не спасли свого народу від моєї руки, так не спасе Єзекіїн Бог народу Свого від моєї руки!“

21 І послав Господь Ангола, і він вигубив кожного хороброго вояка́, і володаря, і зве́рхника в табо́рі царя асирійського, і той вернувся з со́ромом обличчя до кра́ю свого. А коли він прийшов до дому бога свого, то дехто з тих, що вийшли з нутра́ його, вбили його там мече́м.

22 Thus the LORD3068 saved3467 853 Hezekiah3169 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 from the hand4480 3027 of Sennacherib5576 the king4428 of Assyria,804 and from the hand4480 3027 of all3605 other, and guided5095 them on every side.4480 5439

22 І спас Господь Єзекію та єрусалимських ме́шканців від руки Санхеріва, царя асирійського, та від руки всякого, і дав їм мир навко́ло.

23 And many7227 brought935 gifts4503 unto the LORD3068 to Jerusalem,3389 and presents4030 to Hezekiah3169 king4428 of Judah:3063 so that he was magnified5375 in the sight5869 of all3605 nations1471 from thenceforth.4480 310 3651

23 І багато-хто прино́сили да́ра для Господа до Єрусалиму та дорогоцінні речі для Єзекії, Юдиного царя. І він по цьо́му піднісся в оча́х усіх наро́дів!

24 In those1992 days3117 Hezekiah3169 was sick2470 to5704 the death,4191 and prayed6419 unto413 the LORD:3068 and he spoke559 unto him, and he gave5414 him a sign.4159

24 Тими днями занеду́жав Єзекія смертельно. І він молився до Господа, — і Він відповів йому, і дав йому знака.

25 But Hezekiah3169 rendered not again7725 3808 according to the benefit1576 done unto5921 him; for3588 his heart3820 was lifted up:1361 therefore there was1961 wrath7110 upon5921 him, and upon5921 Judah3063 and Jerusalem.3389

25 Та Єзекія не віддав так, як було зро́блено йому, бо запишни́лося серце його. І був гнів Божий на нього, і на Юдею, та на Єрусали́м.

26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah3169 humbled himself3665 for the pride1363 of his heart,3820 both he1931 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem,3389 so that the wrath7110 of the LORD3068 came935 not3808 upon5921 them in the days3117 of Hezekiah.3169

26 Але впокори́вся Єзекія в пишноті серця свого, він та ме́шканці Єрусалиму, — і не прийшов на них Господній гнів за днів Єзекії.

27 And Hezekiah3169 had1961 exceeding3966 much7235 riches6239 and honor:3519 and he made6213 himself treasuries214 for silver,3701 and for gold,2091 and for precious3368 stones,68 and for spices,1314 and for shields,4043 and for all manner3605 of pleasant2532 jewels;3627

27 І було в Єзекії дуже багато багатства та слави, і він поробив собі скарбни́ці на срібло й на золото, та на камінь дорогий, і на па́хощі, і на щити́, і на всякі дорогі речі,

28 Storehouses4543 also for the increase8393 of corn,1715 and wine,8492 and oil;3323 and stalls723 for all manner3605 of beasts,929 929 and cotes220 for flocks.5739

28 і клуні́ на врожай збі́жжя, і виноградного соку, і свіжої оливи, і жолоби́ для всякої худоби, і жолоби́ для чері́д.

29 Moreover he provided6213 him cities,5892 and possessions4735 of flocks6629 and herds1241 in abundance:7230 for3588 God430 had given5414 him substance7399 very3966 much.7227

29 І побудував він собі міста́, і мав великий набу́ток худоби дрібно́ї та худоби великої, бо Бог дав йому́ дуже великий маєток.

30 This same1931 Hezekiah3169 also stopped5640 853 the upper5945 watercourse4161 4325 of Gihon,1521 and brought it straight3474 down4295 to the west side4628 of the city5892 of David.1732 And Hezekiah3169 prospered6743 in all3605 his works.4639

30 І він, Єзекія, заткнув вихід води горі́шнього Ґіхону, і вивів її вдоли́ну на за́хід від Давидового Міста. І мав Єзекія у́спіх в усіх своїх діла́х.

31 Howbeit3651 in the business of the ambassadors3887 of the princes8269 of Babylon,894 who sent7971 unto5921 him to inquire of1875 the wonder4159 that834 was1961 done in the land,776 God430 left5800 him, to try5254 him, that he might know3045 all3605 that was in his heart.3824

31 Тільки при посла́х вавилонських зверхників, посланих до нього, щоб вивідати про чудо, що було в Краю́, залишив був його Бог, щоб ви́пробувати його, щоб пізнати все в його серці.

32 Now the rest3499 of the acts1697 of Hezekiah,3169 and his goodness,2617 behold,2009 they are written3789 in the vision2377 of Isaiah3470 the prophet,5030 the son1121 of Amoz,531 and in5921 the book5612 of the kings4428 of Judah3063 and Israel.3478

32 А решта діл Єзекії та його чесно́ти, — ото вони описані в видіннях пророка Ісаї, Амосового сина, у Книзі Царів Юдиних та Ізраїлевих.

33 And Hezekiah3169 slept7901 with5973 his fathers,1 and they buried6912 him in the chiefest4608 of the sepulchers6913 of the sons1121 of David:1732 and all3605 Judah3063 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 did6213 him honor3519 at his death.4194 And Manasseh4519 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.8478

33 І спочив Єзекія з батьками своїми, і поховали його на узбі́ччях гробі́в Давидових синів, і віддали́ йому честь по смерті його, — уся Юдея та ме́шканці Єрусалиму. А замість нього зацарював син його Манасі́я.
