1 Слово Господа, которое было к Софонии, сыну Кушия, сына Гедалии, сына Амарии, сына Езекии, во время правления иудейского царя Иосии, сына Амона.
2 — Я все смету с лица земли, — возвещает Господь. —
3 Погублю и людей, и скот; погублю и птиц в небесах, и рыбу в морях. Я повергну нечестивцев в прах и сотру человека с лица земли, — говорит Господь.
4 — Я воздену руку над Иудеей и над жителями Иерусалима и сотру здесь последний след Баала, имена его жрецов и священников:
5 и тех, кто поклоняется на крышах небесному воинству, и тех, кто поклоняется и клянется в верности как Господу, так и Молоху,
6 и тех, кто отвернулся от Господа и не ищет Господа и не вопрошает Его.
7 Умолкни перед Владыкой Господом, так как близок день Господа. Он приготовил жертву и уже созвал гостей.
8 — В день жертвы Господней Я накажу вождей, и сыновей царя, и всех, кто наряжается в чужеземное платье.
9 Я накажу в тот день всех, кто прыгает через порог, кто наполняет дом своих владык насилием и обманом.
10 — В тот день, — говорит Господь, — поднимется крик от Рыбных ворот, плач из новой части города и страшный грохот с холмов.
11 Плачьте, жители торгового района, потому что погибнут купцы и будут истреблены торгующие за серебро.
12 Тогда Я обойду Иерусалим со светильниками в поисках самодовольных и накажу их — тех, кто подобен вину на дрожжах, кто думает: «Господь не сделает нам ничего: ни плохого, ни хорошего».
13 Их богатства будут расхищены, и дома придут в запустение. Они построят дома, а жить в них не будут; посадят они виноградники, но вина пить не будут.
14 — Близок великий день Господень, близок и очень спешит. Страшный шум поднимется в день Господа, даже храбрые воины будут кричать.
15 Тот день будет днем гнева, днем скорби и муки, днем гибели и разрушения, днем мглы и мрака, днем туч и тьмы,
16 днем звука рога и клича к битве против укрепленных городов и высоких башен.
17 — Я пошлю на людей такую беду, что они станут бродить, как слепые, за то, что согрешили перед Господом. Их кровь прольется, как вода, и плоть их будет выброшена, как навоз.
18 Ни серебро, ни золото не смогут спасти их в день гнева Господа. В пламени Его ревности сгорит вся земля; внезапный конец положит Он всем, кто живет на земле.

6 And them that are turned5472 back5253 from the LORD;3068 and those that have not sought1245 the LORD,3068 nor3808 inquired1875 for him.
7 Hold your peace2013 at the presence6440 of the Lord136 GOD:3069 for the day3117 of the LORD3068 is at hand:7138 for the LORD3068 has prepared3559 a sacrifice,2077 he has bid6942 his guests.7121

9 In the same1931 day3117 also will I punish6485 all3605 those that leap1801 on5921 the threshold,4670 which fill4390 their masters'113 houses1004 with violence2555 and deceit.4820
10 And it shall come1961 to pass in that day,3117 said5002 the LORD,3068 that there shall be the noise6963 of a cry6818 from the fish1709 gate,8179 and an howling3213 from the second,4932 and a great1419 crashing7667 from the hills.1389
11 Howl,3213 you inhabitants3427 of Maktesh,4389 for all3605 the merchant3667 people5971 are cut1820 down; all3605 they that bear5187 silver3701 are cut3772 off.
12 And it shall come1961 to pass at that time,6256 that I will search2664 Jerusalem3389 with candles,5216 and punish6485 the men582 that are settled7087 on5921 their lees:8105 that say559 in their heart,3824 The LORD3068 will not do good,3190 neither3808 will he do evil.7451
13 Therefore their goods2428 shall become1961 a booty,4933 and their houses1004 a desolation:8047 they shall also build1129 houses,1004 but not inhabit3427 them; and they shall plant5193 vineyards,3754 but not drink8354 the wine3196 thereof.
14 The great1419 day3117 of the LORD3068 is near,7138 it is near,7138 and hastens4116 greatly,3966 even the voice6963 of the day3117 of the LORD:3068 the mighty1368 man shall cry6873 there8033 bitterly.4751
