3 und hasse8130 Esau6215 und habe7760 sein Gebirge2022 öde gemacht und sein Erbe5159 den Drachen zur Wüste8077.

4 Und2723 ob Edom123 sprechen würde: Wir sind verderbet, aber wir wollen das Wüste wieder7725 erbauen, so spricht559 der HErr3068 Zebaoth6635 also: Werden sie559 bauen1129, so will1129 ich abbrechen2040; und soll heißen7121 die5769 verdammte7564 Grenze1366 und ein Volk5971, über das, der HErr3068 zürnet ewiglich5704.

5 Das sollen eure Augen5869 sehen7200, und werdet sagen559: Der HErr3068 ist1431 herrlich in den Grenzen1366 Israels3478.

6 Ein Sohn1121 soll seinen Vater1 ehren3513 und ein Knecht5650 seinen Herrn3068. Bin ich nun Vater1, wo ist meine Ehre3519? Bin ich Herr113, wo fürchtet man559 mich4172? spricht559 der HErr113 Zebaoth6635 zu euch Priestern3548, die meinen Namen8034 verachten959. So sprechet ihr: Womit verachten959 wir deinen Namen8034?

7 Damit, daß559 ihr opfert5066 auf meinem Altar4196 unrein Brot3899. So sprechet ihr: Womit opfern wir dir Unreines1351? Damit, daß559 ihr saget: Des HErrn3068 Tisch7979 ist verachtet959.

8 Und wenn6440 ihr ein Blindes5787 opfert2076, so muß es nicht böse7451 heißen; und wenn ihr ein Lahmes6455 oder Krankes2470 opfert5066, so muß es auch nicht böse7451 heißen. Bringe5066 es deinem Fürsten6346! Was gilt‘s, ob du559 ihm gefallen7521 werdest, oder ob er7126 deine Person ansehen werde5375? spricht der HErr3068 Zebaoth6635.

9 So bittet nun GOtt410, daß er uns3027 gnädig2603 sei! Denn solches ist6440 geschehen von6440 euch2470. Meinet ihr, er werde5375 eure Person ansehen? spricht559 der HErr3068 Zebaoth6635.

10 Wer ist5462 auch unter euch, der eine Tür1817 zuschließe? Ihr zündet auf meinem Altar4196 kein Feuer an umsonst2600. Ich habe2656 kein Gefallen7521 an euch, spricht559 der HErr3068 Zebaoth6635, und das Speisopfer4503 von euren Händen3027 ist215 mir nicht angenehm.

11 Aber vom Aufgang4217 der Sonne8121 bis zum Niedergang3996 soll mein Name herrlich1419 werden6999 unter den8034 Heiden1471, und an5066 allen Orten4725 soll meinem Namen8034 geräuchert und ein rein Speisopfer4503 geopfert werden; denn mein Name soll herrlich1419 werden unter den Heiden1471, spricht559 der HErr3068 Zebaoth6635.

12 Ihr2490 aber entheiliget ihn, damit daß ihr saget: Des HErrn3068 Tisch7979 ist unheilig1351, und559 sein Opfer5108 ist verachtet959 samt seiner Speise400.

13 Und559 ihr sprechet: Siehe, es ist5301 nur Mühe4972! und schlaget es in den Wind spricht559 der HErr3068 Zebaoth6635. Und ihr opfert, das geraubet, lahm6455 und krank2470 ist935, und opfert dann Speisopfer4503 her935. Sollte mir solches gefallen7521 von eurer Hand3027? spricht559 der HErr3068.

14 Verflucht779 sei der Vorteilische, der in seiner Herde5739 ein Männlein2145 hat5087, und7843 wenn er ein Gelübde tut, opfert2076 er dem HErrn3068 ein untüchtiges! Denn ich bin ein großer1419 König4428, spricht559 der HErr136 Zebaoth6635, und mein Name ist3426 schrecklich3372 unter den8034 Heiden1471.

Chapter 1

1 THE vision of the words of the LORD concerning Israel by Malachi.

2 I have loved you, says the LORD. But you say, In what way hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? says the LORD; yet I have loved Jacob, and I have not favored Esau;

3 And I have made his mountains waste and his heritage for camps of shepherds in the wilderness.

4 And if the Edomites say, We are impoverished, but let us return and build the desolate places; thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will demolish; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness and, The people against whom the LORD is angry for ever.

5 And your eyes shall see it, and you shall say, The LORD will be magnified beyond the border of Israel.

6 A son honors his father, and a servant his master; if then I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. And if you say, In what have we despised thy name?

7 In that you offer polluted bread upon my altar; and if you say, In what have we polluted it? In that you say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.

8 And when you offer a blind animal to the altar, is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick animals, is it not evil? Offer it now to your governor; will he be pleased with you or accept your person? says the LORD of hosts.

9 And now, pray before the LORD that he may be gracious to us for this disaster has been brought by your means; I will not regard your persons, says the LORD of hosts.

10 Who is there among you who would guard my doors or offer on my altar for nothing? I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering from your hand.

11 For from the rising of the sun even to its going down, my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place they burn incense and offer to my name pure offerings; for my name is great among the Gentiles, says the LORD of hosts.

12 But you are profaning it, in that you say, The table of the LORD is polluted and its food is contemptible.

13 And you say, This is because we are miserable; and I have sniffed at it, says the LORD of hosts; for you bring offerings that are taken by violence, the lame and the sick; I will not accept them from your hands, says the LORD.

14 Cursed be he who has in his flock a ram, and vows and sacrifices for the LORD that which is sick; for I am a great King, says the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreaded among the Gentiles.
