Amos

Chapter 7

1 THUS has the LORD God showed me: behold, a plague of locusts coming up in the beginning of springing up of the latter growth; and, 1o, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

2 And it came to pass when they had finished eating the grass of the land, then I said, O LORD God, forgive. Who shall raise up Jacob? For he is small in numbers.

3 Then the LORD averted this calamity: it shall not be.

4 Thus has the LORD God showed me: and, behold, the LORD God called the people to judge them by fire, and it devoured the great deep and did eat up a part.

5 Then I said, O LORD God, forgive. Who shall raise up Jacob? For he is small in numbers.

6 The LORD averted this calamity; this also shall not be.

7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the LORD was standing upon a wall made of adamant, and a plumbline was in his hand.

8 And the LORD said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the LORD, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more:

9 And the absurd shrines of Israel shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel, and the land cannot bear all his words.

11 For thus Amos is saying: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be carried away captive out of their own land.

12 Also Amaziah said to Amos, O you seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there;

13 But prophesy, not again any more at Beth-el; for it is the king's sanctuary and it is the house of the kingdom.

14 Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, I am not a prophet, neither a prophet's son; but I was a shepherd and a gatherer of wild figs;

15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said to me, Go, prophesy against my people Israel.

16 Now therefore hear the word of the LORD: You say, Do not prophesy against the house of Israel and do not teach against the house of Isaac.

17 Therefore thus says the LORD: Your wife shall play the harlot in your own city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a polluted land; and Israel shall surely be carried away captive from his land.

2 Als sie6965 nun das776 Kraut6212 im Lande gar abfressen wollten, sprach559 ich: Ach, HErr136 HErr3069, sei gnädig5545! Wer will Jakob3290 wieder aufhelfen? denn er ist3615 ja gering6996.

3 Da reuete es5162 den HErrn3068 und3068 sprach559: Wohlan, es soll nicht geschehen!

4 Der HErr136 HErr3069 zeigte mir ein Gesicht, und siehe7200, der HErr136 HErr3069 rief7121 dem Feuer784, damit zu strafen7378; das sollte eine große7227 Tiefe8415 verzehren398 und fraß398 schon ein Teil2506 dahin.

5 Da sprach559 ich: Ach, HErr136 HErr3069, laß ab2308! Wer will Jakob3290 wieder aufhelfen? denn er ist6965 ja gering6996.

6 Da reuete den HErrn3069 das auch, und der HErr3068 HErr136 sprach559: Es5162 soll auch nicht geschehen.

7 Er5324 zeigte mir aber dies Gesicht, und siehe7200, der HErr136 stund auf einer Mauer2346, mit einer Bleischnur594 gemessen; und er hatte die Bleischnur594 in seiner Hand3027.

8 Und7760 der HErr3068 sprach559 zu mir: Was siehest du, Amos5986? Ich sprach559: Eine Bleischnur594. Da sprach559 der HErr136 zu mir: Siehe, ich will7200 eine Bleischnur594 ziehen mitten7130 durch5674 mein Volk5971 Israel3478 und ihm nichts mehr3254 übersehen,

9 sondern die Höhen1116 Isaaks3446 sollen verwüstet2717 und die Kirchen Israels3478 verstöret werden8074; und ich will mit dem Schwert2719 mich über das Haus1004 Jerobeams3379 machen6965.

10 Da sandte Amazia, der Priester zu Bethel, zu Jerobeam3379, dem Könige4428 Israels3478, und3548 ließ7971 ihm sagen559: Der Amos5986 macht7194 einen Aufruhr wider dich im7130 Hause1004 Israel3478; das1697 Land776 kann3201 seine Worte nicht leiden3557.

11 Denn so spricht559 Amos5986: Jerobeam3379 wird durchs Schwert2719 sterben4191, und Israel3478 wird aus seinem Lande127 gefangen1540 weggeführet werden1540.

12 Und Amazia sprach559 zu Amos5986: Du Seher2374, gehe3212 weg und flieh1272 ins Land776 Juda3063 und iß398 Brot3899 daselbst und weissage5012 daselbst.

13 Und weissage5012 nicht3254 mehr zu Bethel; denn es ist des Königs4428 Stift und des Königreichs4467 Haus1004.

14 Amos5986 antwortete6030 und sprach559 zu Amazia: Ich bin kein Prophet5030, noch keines Propheten5030 Sohn1121, sondern ich bin ein Kuhhirte, der Maulbeeren8256 ablieset.

15 Aber der HErr3068 nahm3947 mich von der Herde6629 und3068 sprach559 zu mir310: Gehe3212 hin und weissage5012 meinem Volk5971 Israel3478!

16 So höre8085 nun des HErrn3068 Wort1697! Du559 sprichst: Weissage5012 nicht wider Israel3478 und träufle nicht wider das Haus1004 Isaak3446!

17 Darum spricht der HErr3068 also: Dein Weib802 wird in der Stadt5892 zur Hure2181 werden2505, und deine Söhne1121 und Töchter1323 sollen durchs Schwert2719 fallen5307, und dein Acker127 soll durch die Schnur2256 ausgeteilet werden1540; du559 aber sollst in einem unreinen2931 Lande127 sterben4191, und Israel3478 soll aus5921 seinem Lande127 vertrieben werden1540.
