Deuteronomy

Chapter 6

1 NOW these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments which the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, that you shall do them in the land into which you are going to possess it;

2 That you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, which I commanded you, this day, you and your son and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe and do them; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase greatly; for the LORD God of your fathers has promised you that he will give you a land that flows with milk and honey.

4 Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God is one LORD;

5 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

6 And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart:

7 And you shall repeat them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

8 And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as a token between your eyes.

9 And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

10 And it shall be, when the LORD your God shall have brought you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you great and goodly cities, which you did not build,

11 And houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, and cisterns digged, which you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees, which you did not plant; when you shall eat and be full;

12 Then take heed lest you forget the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

13 You shall reverence the LORD your God, and serve him, and shall swear by his name.

14 You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the people who are round about you,

15 (For the LORD your God is a zealous God among you) test the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

16 You shall not tempt the LORD your God, as you tempted him with temptations.

17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

18 And you shall de that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore to your fathers,

19 And defeat all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has spoken.

20 And when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments which the LORD our God has commanded you?

21 Then you shall say to your son, We were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;

22 And the LORD wrought signs and great wonders, and plagues in Egypt against Pharaoh and against all his army, before our eyes;

23 And the LORD brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land which he swore to our fathers.

24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to revere the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe and do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.

1 Dies sind5674 aber die Gesetze2706 und Gebote4687 und Rechte4941, die der HErr3068, euer GOtt430, geboten hat, daß ihr sie6680 lernen3925 und tun6213 sollt im Lande776, dahin ihr ziehet, dasselbe einzunehmen3423

2 daß du den HErrn3068, deinen GOtt430, fürchtest3372, und1121 haltest8104 alle3117 seine Rechte2708 und1121 Gebote4687, die ich dir gebiete6680, du und deine Kinder1121 und deine Kindeskinder, alle2416 eure Lebtage, auf daß ihr lange3117 lebet.

3 Israel3478, du sollst1696 hören und behalten8104, daß du es tust6213, daß dir‘s3190 wohlgehe, und sehr3966 vermehret werdest7235; wie der HErr3068, deiner Väter1 GOtt430, dir geredet hat8085, ein Land776, da Milch2461 und Honig1706 innen fleußt.

4 Höre8085, Israel3478, der HErr3068, unser GOtt430, ist ein259 einiger HErr3068.

5 Und du sollst den HErrn3068, deinen GOtt430, liebhaben157 von ganzem Herzen3824, von ganzer See LE5315, von allem Vermögen3966.

6 Und diese Worte1697, die ich dir heute3117 gebiete6680, sollst du zu Herzen3824 nehmen.

7 Und sollst sie deinen Kindern1121 schärfen und davon3212 reden1696, wenn du in deinem Hause1004 sitzest oder auf6965 dem Wege1870 gehest, wenn du dich3427 niederlegest oder aufstehest.

8 Und sollst sie binden7194 zum Zeichen226 auf deine Hand3027, und sollen dir ein Denkmal2903 vor deinen Augen5869 sein.

9 Und sollst sie3789 über deines Hauses1004 Pfosten4201 schreiben und an die Tore8179.

10 Wenn dich nun der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, in das Land776 bringen935 wird, das er1129 deinen Vätern1, Abraham85, Isaak3327 und Jakob3290, geschworen7650 hat, dir zu geben5414, große1419 und feine2896 Städte5892, die du nicht gebauet hast,

11 und Häuser1004 alles2898 Guts voll4392, die du nicht gefüllet hast4390, und ausgehauene2672 Brunnen953, die du nicht ausgehauen hast5193, und Weinberge3754 und Ölberge2132, die du nicht gepflanzt hast, daß du essest398 und satt7646 wirst:

12 so hüte dich8104, daß du nicht des HErrn3068 vergessest7911, der dich aus3318 Ägyptenland776, aus dem Diensthause1004, geführet hat,

13 sondern sollst den HErrn3068, deinen GOtt430, fürchten3372 und ihm dienen5647 und bei seinem Namen8034 schwören7650.

14 Und310 sollst nicht andern312 Göttern430 nachfolgen, der Völker5971, die um euch3212 her5439 sind;

15 denn der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, ist ein eifriger7067 GOtt410 unter7130 dir; daß nicht der Zorn639 des HErrn3068, deines Gottes430, über dich ergrimme2734 und vertilge8045 dich von6440 der Erde127.

16 Ihr5254 sollt den HErrn3068, euren GOtt430, nicht versuchen5254, wie ihr ihn versuchtet zu Massa4532,

17 sondern sollt8104 halten8104 die Gebote4687 des HErrn3068, eures Gottes430, und seine5713 Zeugnisse und seine Rechte2706, die er geboten6680 hat,

18 daß du tust6213, was recht3477 und gut2896 ist935 vor den Augen5869 des HErrn3068, auf daß dir‘s3190 wohlgehe, und eingehest und einnehmest3423 das gute2896 Land776, das der HErr3068 geschworen7650 hat deinen Vätern1,

20 Wenn dich nun dein Sohn1121 heute oder morgen4279 fragen7592 wird und sagen559: Was sind das für Zeugnisse5713, Gebote4941 und Rechte2706, die euch der HErr3068, unser GOtt430, geboten6680 hat?

21 so sollst du deinem Sohn1121 sagen559: Wir waren Knechte5650 des Pharao6547 in Ägypten4714, und der HErr3068 führete uns aus3318 Ägypten4714 mit mächtiger2389 Hand3027;

22 und der HErr3068 tat5414 große1419 und böse7451 Zeichen226 und Wunder4159 über Ägypten4714 und Pharao6547 und all seinem Hause1004 vor unsern Augen5869;

23 und führete uns von3318 dannen, auf daß er uns einführete und gäbe5414 uns das Land776, das er unsern Vätern1 geschworen7650 hatte935;

24 und hat uns geboten6680, der HErr3068, zu tun6213 nach allen diesen Rechten2706, daß wir2421 den HErrn3068, unsern GOtt430, fürchten3372, auf daß uns wohlgehe alle3117 unsere Lebtage, wie2896 es gehet heutigestages3117.

25 Und es wird unsere Gerechtigkeit6666 sein8104 vor6440 dem HErrn3068, unserm GOtt430, so wir halten und tun6213 alle diese2063 Gebote4687, wie er uns geboten6680 hat.
