John

Chapter 13

1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

2 During supper, Satan put into the heart of Judas, son of Simon of Iscariot, to deliver him.

3 But Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given everything into his hands, and that he came from God, and was going to God,

4 He rose from supper and laid aside his robes; and he took an apron and tied it around his loins.

5 Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the apron which was tied around his loins.

6 When he came to Simon Peter, Simon said to him, You, my Lord, are you going to wash my feet?

7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing, you do not know now, but later you will understand.

8 Then Simon Peter said to him, You will never wash my feet. Jesus said to him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.

9 Simon Peter said to him, Then, my Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

10 Jesus said to him, He who has bathed does not need except to wash his feet only, for he is already all clean; so you are all clean, but not everyone of you.

11 For Jesus knew him who was to betray him; therefore he said, Not everyone of you is clean.

12 When he had washed their feet, he put on his robes and sat down; and he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?

13 You call me, our Teacher and our Lord; and what you say is well, for I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, how much more should you wash one another's feet?

15 For I have given you this as an example, so that just as I have done to you, you should also do.

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, There is no servant who is greater than his master; and no apostle who is greater than he who sent him.

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

18 I do not say this concerning all of you, for I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.

19 I tell you now before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.

20 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who receives him whom I send, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.

21 Jesus said these things, and he was disturbed in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.

22 The disciples then looked at each other, because they did not know concerning whom he spoke.

23 Now there was one of his disciples who was leaning on his bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon Peter winked at to him, to ask him of whom he spoke.

25 So that disciple leaned himself on the breast of Jesus, and said to him, My Lord, who is he?

26 Jesus answered and said, The one for whom I dip bread and give to him. So Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon of Iscariot.

27 And after the bread, Satan took possession of him. So Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do it soon.

28 But no man of those who were sitting at the table understood what he said to him.

29 For some of them thought, because the purse was with Judas, that he ordered him to buy what was needed for the feast; or to give something to the poor.

30 Judas then received the bread and went outside immediately; it was night when he went out.

31 Jesus then said, Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified by him.

32 If God is glorified by him, God will also glorify him by himself, and he will glorify him at once.

33 My sons, I am with you yet a little while, and you will want me. And just as I said to the Jews, Where I go you cannot come; so now I tell you also.

34 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35 By this every man shall know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

36 Simon Peter said to him, Our Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered and said to him, Where I go, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.

37 Simon Peter said to him, My Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will even lay down my life for you.

38 Jesus said to him, Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, The cock shall not crow, until you have denied me three times.

Kapitel 13

1 Vor4253 dem3588 Fest1859 aber1161 der Ostern3957, da JEsus2424 erkennete, daß3754 seine846 Zeit5610 kommen2064 war, daß2443 er846 aus1537 dieser5127 Welt2889 ginge3327 zum4314 Vater3962: wie er hatte25 geliebet die Seinen2398, die in1722 der Welt2889 waren, so liebte25 er sie1492 bis1519 ans Ende5056.

2 Und2532 nach1519 dem Abendessen1173, da schon2235 der Teufel1228 hatte906 dem Judas2455, Simons4613 Sohn, dem Ischariot2469, ins Herz2588 gegeben, daß2443 er846 ihn verriete3860,

3 wußte1492 JEsus2424, daß3754 ihm der Vater3962 hatte alles3956 in1519 seine846 Hände5495 gegeben1325, und2532 daß3754 er von575 GOtt2316 kommen1831 war und2532 zu4314 GOtt2316 ging5217:

4 stund er vom1537 Abendmahl1173 auf1453, legte5087 seine846 Kleider2440 ab und2532 nahm2983 einen Schurz3012 und2532 umgürtete1241 sich1438.

5 Danach goß906 er Wasser5204 in1519 ein Becken3537, hub an756, den Jüngern3101 die3739 Füße4228 zu waschen3538, und2532 trocknete1591 sie mit2532 dem Schurz3012, damit er umgürtet1241 war2258.

6 Da kam2064 er846 zu4314 Simon4613 Petrus4074; und2532 derselbige sprach3004 zu ihm1565: HErr2962, solltest du3767 mir3450 meine Füße4228 waschen3538?

7 JEsus2424 antwortete611 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihm846: Was ich1473 tue4160, das3739 weißt1097 du4771 jetzt737 nicht3756; du1492 wirst‘s aber1161 hernach erfahren.

8 Da sprach3004 Petrus4074 zu ihm846: Nimmermehr sollst3538 du mir3450 die Füße4228 waschen3538. JEsus2424 antwortete611 ihm846: Werde ich dich4571 nicht3364 waschen3538, so3362 hast2192 du kein3756 Teil3313 mit3326 mir1700.

9 Spricht3004 zu ihm846 Simon4613 Petrus4074: HErr2962, nicht3361 die3450 Füße4228 alleine, sondern235 auch2532 die Hände5495 und2532 das Haupt2776.

10 Spricht3004 JEsus2424 zu ihm: Wer gewaschen3068 ist2192, der bedarf5532 nicht3780 denn2228 die Füße4228 waschen3538, sondern235 er ist2076 ganz3650 rein2513. Und2532 ihr846 seid5210 rein2513, aber235 nicht alle3956.

11 Denn1063 er wußte1492 seinen Verräter3588 wohl; darum1223 sprach2036 er: Ihr846 seid3860 nicht3780 alle3956 rein2513.

12 Da3753 er nun3767 ihre Füße4228 gewaschen hatte3538, nahm2983 er seine846 Kleider2440 und2532 setzte sich848 wieder3825 nieder und sprach2036 abermal zu ihnen: Wisset1097 ihr846, was5101 ich euch5213 getan4160 habe?

13 Ihr5210 heißet5455 mich3165 Meister1320 und2532 HErr2962 und2532 saget3004 recht2573 daran; denn1063 ich bin‘s1510 auch.

14 So1487 nun3767 ich1473, euer HErr2962 und2532 Meister1320, euch5216 die Füße4228 gewaschen habe3538, so sollt3784 ihr5210 auch2532 euch untereinander240 die Füße4228 waschen3538.

15 Ein Beispiel5262 habe4160 ich1473 euch5213 gegeben1325, daß2443 ihr5210 tut4160, wie ich euch5213 getan1063 habe.

16 Wahrlich281, wahrlich281, ich sage3004 euch5213, der Knecht1401 ist2076 nicht3756 größer denn3187 sein Herr2962 noch3761 der Apostel652 größer, denn3187 der ihn846 gesandt3992 hat.

17 So1487 ihr2075 solches5023 wisset1492, selig3107 seid ihr846, so ihr‘s tut4160.

18 Nicht3756 sage3004 ich1473 von4012 euch5216 allen3956, (ich1691 weiß1492, welche ich erwählet habe1586), sondern235 daß2443 die3739 Schrift1124 erfüllet4137 werde: Der1909 mein Brot740 isset5176, der tritt1869 mich1700 mit3326 Füßen4418.

19 Jetzt737 sage3004 ich1473‘s euch5213, ehe4253 denn es geschiehet, auf daß2443, wenn3752 es geschehen1096 ist1096, daß3754 ihr4100 glaubet, daß ich‘s bin1510.

20 Wahrlich281, wahrlich281, ich sage3004 euch5213: Wer aufnimmt, so ich jemand5100 senden3992 werde, der nimmt2983 mich1691 auf; wer aber1161 mich1691 aufnimmt, der nimmt den auf, der mich3165 gesandt3992 hat.

21 Da solches5023 JEsus2424 gesagt3004 hatte2036, ward er betrübt5015 im Geist4151 und2532 zeugete und2532 sprach2036: Wahrlich281, wahrlich281, ich sage2036 euch5213, einer1520 unter1537 euch3754 wird mich3165 verraten3860.

22 Da3767 sahen991 sich die Jünger3101 untereinander240 an, und ward ihnen bange639, von4012 welchem5101 er redete3004.

23 Es war2258 aber1161 einer unter seinen846 Jüngern3101, der1520 zu1722 Tische saß345 an der3739 Brust2859 JEsu2424, welchen JEsus2424 liebhatte25.

24 Dem5129 winkete Simon4613 Petrus4074, daß er4441 forschen sollte, wer5101 es wäre302, von4012 dem3739 er sagte3004.

25 Denn derselbige lag an1968 der1565 Brust4738 JEsu2424 und1161 sprach3004 zu1909 ihm846: HErr2962, wer5101 ist‘s2076?

26 JEsus2424 antwortete611: Der1565 ist‘s2076, dem3739 ich1473 den Bissen5596 eintauche911 und2532 gebe1929. Und er tauchte1686 den Bissen5596 ein und gab1325 ihn Judas2455, Simons4613 Sohn, dem Ischariot2469.

27 Und2532 nach3326 dem Bissen fuhr1525 der1565 Satan4567 in1519 ihn. Da5119 sprach3004 JEsus2424 zu ihm846: Was du3767 tust4160, das tue4160 bald5032.

28 Dasselbige aber1161 wußte1097 niemand3762 über dem Tische345, wozu4314 er846‘s ihm5124 sagte2036.

29 Etliche5100 meineten, dieweil1893 Judas2455 den Beutel1101 hatte2192, JEsus2424 spräche3004 zu2443 ihm: Kaufe59, was3739 uns not5532 ist2192 auf1519 das1063 Fest1859; oder2228 daß3754 er846 den Armen4434 etwas5100 gäbe1325.

30 Da er nun3767 den1565 Bissen5596 genommen2983 hatte, ging1831 er sobald hinaus1831. Und1161 es war2258 Nacht3571.

31 Da3753 er846 aber hinausgegangen1831 war1392, spricht3004 JEsus2424: Nun3767 ist1392 des Menschen444 Sohn verkläret, und2532 GOtt2316 ist1392 verkläret in1722 ihm.

32 Ist1392 GOtt2316 verkläret in1722 ihm846, wird1392 ihn846 auch1487 GOtt2316 verklären in1722 ihm846 selbst1438 und2532 wird1392 ihn bald2117 verklären.

33 Liebe Kindlein5040, ich1473 bin1510 noch2089 eine kleine Weile3397 bei3326 euch5216. Ihr5210 werdet mich3165 suchen; und2212 wie2531 ich737 zu1410 den Juden sagte2036: Wo3699 ich5213 hingehe; da2532 könnt ihr3004 nicht2532 hinkommen2064.

34 Und2532 ich sage euch5213 nun: Ein neu2537 Gebot1785 gebe1325 ich euch5209, daß2443 ihr5210 euch240 untereinander240 liebet25, wie2531 ich euch geliebet habe25, auf daß2443 auch ihr einander lieb25 habet.

35 Dabei1722 wird jedermann3956 erkennen, daß3754 ihr1097 meine1699 Jünger3101 seid2075, so1437 ihr1097 Liebe26 untereinander240 habt2192.

36 Spricht3004 Simon4613 Petrus4074 zu1410 ihm846: HErr2962, wo4226 gehest du hin5217? JEsus2424 antwortete611 ihm846: Da3699 ich hingehe, kannst du mir3427 diesmal3568 nicht3756 folgen190; aber1161 du wirst mir3427 hernachmals folgen190.

37 Petrus4074 spricht3004 zu ihm846: HErr2962, warum1302 kann1410 ich737 dir4675 diesmal nicht folgen190? Ich will5087 mein3450 Leben5590 für5228 dich4671 lassen.

38 JEsus2424 antwortete611 ihm846: Solltest5087 du dein4675 Leben5590 für5228 mich1700 lassen? Wahrlich281, wahrlich281, ich sage3004 dir4671, der3739 Hahn220 wird5455 nicht3364 krähen5455, bis du mich3165 dreimal5151 habest verleugnet533!

1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

3 wußte1492 JEsus2424, daß3754 ihm der Vater3962 hatte alles3956 in1519 seine846 Hände5495 gegeben1325, und2532 daß3754 er von575 GOtt2316 kommen1831 war und2532 zu4314 GOtt2316 ging5217:

4 He rose from supper and laid aside his robes; and he took an apron and tied it around his loins.

6 Da kam2064 er846 zu4314 Simon4613 Petrus4074; und2532 derselbige sprach3004 zu ihm1565: HErr2962, solltest du3767 mir3450 meine Füße4228 waschen3538?

7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing, you do not know now, but later you will understand.

9 Simon Peter said to him, Then, my Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

9 Spricht3004 zu ihm846 Simon4613 Petrus4074: HErr2962, nicht3361 die3450 Füße4228 alleine, sondern235 auch2532 die Hände5495 und2532 das Haupt2776.

20 Wahrlich281, wahrlich281, ich sage3004 euch5213: Wer aufnimmt, so ich jemand5100 senden3992 werde, der nimmt2983 mich1691 auf; wer aber1161 mich1691 aufnimmt, der nimmt den auf, der mich3165 gesandt3992 hat.

21 Jesus said these things, and he was disturbed in spirit, and testified and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.

21 Da solches5023 JEsus2424 gesagt3004 hatte2036, ward er betrübt5015 im Geist4151 und2532 zeugete und2532 sprach2036: Wahrlich281, wahrlich281, ich sage2036 euch5213, einer1520 unter1537 euch3754 wird mich3165 verraten3860.

22 The disciples then looked at each other, because they did not know concerning whom he spoke.

22 Da3767 sahen991 sich die Jünger3101 untereinander240 an, und ward ihnen bange639, von4012 welchem5101 er redete3004.

23 Now there was one of his disciples who was leaning on his bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

23 Es war2258 aber1161 einer unter seinen846 Jüngern3101, der1520 zu1722 Tische saß345 an der3739 Brust2859 JEsu2424, welchen JEsus2424 liebhatte25.

24 Dem5129 winkete Simon4613 Petrus4074, daß er4441 forschen sollte, wer5101 es wäre302, von4012 dem3739 er sagte3004.

25 So that disciple leaned himself on the breast of Jesus, and said to him, My Lord, who is he?

25 Denn derselbige lag an1968 der1565 Brust4738 JEsu2424 und1161 sprach3004 zu1909 ihm846: HErr2962, wer5101 ist‘s2076?

26 Jesus answered and said, The one for whom I dip bread and give to him. So Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon of Iscariot.

26 JEsus2424 antwortete611: Der1565 ist‘s2076, dem3739 ich1473 den Bissen5596 eintauche911 und2532 gebe1929. Und er tauchte1686 den Bissen5596 ein und gab1325 ihn Judas2455, Simons4613 Sohn, dem Ischariot2469.

28 But no man of those who were sitting at the table understood what he said to him.

28 Dasselbige aber1161 wußte1097 niemand3762 über dem Tische345, wozu4314 er846‘s ihm5124 sagte2036.

29 For some of them thought, because the purse was with Judas, that he ordered him to buy what was needed for the feast; or to give something to the poor.
