Chapter 12

1 SIX days before the passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

2 And they gave him a banquet there; Martha served; but Lazarus was one of the guests who were with him.

3 Then Mary took a cruse containing pure and expensive nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 And Judas of Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was about to betray him, said,

5 Why was not this oil sold for three hundred pennies, and given to the poor?

6 He said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and the purse was with him, and he carried whatever was put in it.

7 Jesus then said, Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial.

8 For you have the poor always with you, but me you have not always.

9 Many people of the Jews heard that Jesus was there; so they came, not only on account of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 And the high priests were thinking of killing Lazarus also;

11 Because on his account a great many Jews were leaving and believing in Jesus.

12 On the next day, a large crowd which had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went out to greet him, and they cried out and said, Hosanna, Blessed is the king of Israel who comes in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus found an ass and sat on it; as it is written,

15 Fear not, O daughter of Zion; behold, your king cometh to you, riding on the colt of an ass.

16 His disciples did not understand these things at that time; but when Jesus was glorified, then his disciples remembered that these things were written concerning him, and that they had done these things to him.

17 The people who were with him testified that he had called Lazarus from the tomb, and raised him from the dead.

18 It was on this account that large crowds went out to meet him, for they heard that he had performed this miracle.

19 The Pharisees said one to another, Do you see that you have not been able to gain anything? Behold, all the people have gone after him.

20 Now there were some Gentiles * among them who had come up to worship at the feast.

21 They came and approached Philip of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, My lord, we would like to see Jesus.

22 Philip came and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip told Jesus.

23 Jesus answered and said to them, The hour has come that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Truly, truly, I say to you, that unless a grain of wheat falls and dies in the ground, it will be left alone; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.

25 He who loves his life will lose it; and he who has no concern for his life in this world will keep it unto life eternal.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also will my servant be; he who serves me, him my Father will honor.

27 Now my soul is disturbed, and what shall I say? O my Father, deliver me from this hour; but for this cause I came to this very hour.

28 O Father, glorify your name. Then a voice was heard from heaven, I am glorified, and I shall again be glorified.

29 And the people who stood by heard it, and said, It was thunder; others said, An angel spoke to him.

30 Jesus answered and said to them, This voice was not on my account, but for your sake.

31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the leader of this world will be cast out.

32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw every man to me.

33 He said this, to show by what kind of death he was to die.

34 The people said to him, We have heard from the law that the Christ shall remain forever; how do you say that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

35 Jesus said to them, The light is with you for a little while; walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overcome you; and he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.

36 While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become the sons of the light. Jesus spoke these things, and went away and hid himself from them.

37 Even though he had performed all of these miracles before them, yet they did not believe in him;

38 So that the word of the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, who said, My Lord, who will believe our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 For this reason, they could not believe, because Isaiah said again,

40 Their eyes have become blind and their heart darkened, so that they cannot see with their eyes and understand with their heart; let them return and I will heal them.

41 Isaiah said these things, when he saw his glory and spoke concerning him.

42 Many of the leading men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they might not be cast out of the synagogue.

43 For they loved the honor of men more than the glory of God.

44 Jesus cried out and said, He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.

45 And he who sees me, has already seen him who sent me.

46 I have come into the world as the light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

47 And he who hears my words, and does not obey them, I will not judge him; for I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He who oppresses me and does not receive my words, there is one who will judge him; the word which I have spoken, it will judge him at the last day.

49 For I did not speak of myself; but the Father who sent me, he commanded me what to say and what to speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting; these things therefore which I speak, just as my Father told me, so I speak.

1 За шесть дней до Пасхи Иисус снова пришел в Вифанию, где жил Лазарь, воскрешенный Им из мертвых.

2 Там в Его честь устроили ужин. Марфа прислуживала Ему и гостям, среди которых был и Лазарь.

3 Мария же взяла тогда фунт ценнейшего благовонного масла из чистого нарда, умастила им ноги Иисуса и вытерла их волосами своими. Весь дом наполнился благоуханием того масла.

4 Иуда Искариот, один [из] учеников Иисуса (тот, что потом предал Его), стал возмущаться:

5 «Почему было не продать это масло, ведь оно стоит сотни три денариев? А деньги можно было бы раздать нищим».

6 Он говорил так не потому, что пекся о нищих, а потому, что был нечестен; ему доверяли ящик для пожертвований, и он крал кое-что из того, что туда клали.

7 Но Иисус сказал: «Оставь ее! Она хранила эти благовония на день Моего погребения.

8 Нищие всегда будут с вами, а Я — не всегда».

9 Прослышав о том, что Иисус в Вифании, туда пришли толпы иудеев, и не только из-за Иисуса, но также чтобы увидеть Лазаря, которого Он воскресил из мертвых.

10 Первосвященники решили тогда убить и Лазаря,

11 потому что это из-за него многие иудеи уходили от них и начинали верить в Иисуса.

12 На следующий день толпы людей, пришедших на праздник Пасхи, услышав, что Иисус идет в Иерусалим,

13 взяли пальмовые ветви и вышли Ему навстречу, восклицая: «Осанна! Благословен идущий во имя Господа [и] Царь Израиля!»

14 Иисус же нашел с помощью учеников молодого осла и ехал на нем, как и было сказано о том в Писании:

15 «Не бойся, дочь Сиона! Вот, Царь твой грядет к тебе, на молодом осле восседает Он».

16 Ученики Его сперва не поняли этого, но потом, когда воскрешен уже был Иисус и явлен в славе Своей, вспомнили они, что так о Нем было написано и они это сделали для Него.

17 А люди, которые были с Иисусом, и их немало было, продолжали рассказывать о том, что Он вызвал Лазаря из могилы и воскресил его из мертвых;

18 и многие вышли встречать Иисуса потому, что услышали о совершенном Им чуде.

19 А фарисеи говорили друг другу: «Видите, ничего у нас не получается. Весь мир пошел за Ним».

20 Среди пришедших на поклонение были в дни праздника в Иерусалиме и те, кого называли язычниками.

21 Они пришли к Филиппу, который был из Вифсаиды галилейской, и попросили его: «Господин, мы хотели бы познакомиться с Иисусом».

22 Филипп пошел и сказал об этом Андрею; потом они отправились к Иисусу. Узнав о просьбе,

23 Иисус ответил им: «Пришел час Сыну Человеческому быть явленным в славе Своей.

24 Воистину, если зерно пшеничное в землю не упадет и не умрет, так и останется одиноким зернышком, а если умрет — принесет обильный урожай.

25 Тот, кому всего дороже его жизнь, лишает себя ее, а кто в этом мире жизнью своей не дорожит, для вечной жизни сохранит ее.

26 Кто хочет служить Мне, пусть следует за Мной. Где Я, там и слуга Мой будет. Того, кто служит мне, почтит Отец.

27 В смятении ныне душа Моя. Что Мне сказать? Не просить же: „Отец, избавь Меня от часа сего“. Ведь для того Я и пришел в час сей.

28 Прошу только: „Отец, открой людям величие имени Твоего!“» Тогда с неба раздался голос: «Открыл Я уже и еще открою».

29 Люди, стоявшие вокруг Иисуса, говорили, что слышали гром, а иные утверждали, что ангел разговаривал с Ним.

30 Иисус же сказал: «Голос этот не ради Меня сюда донесся, а ради вас.

31 Настал ныне час суда над миром этим, ныне князь мира сего изгнан будет вон.

32 Когда же поднят буду Я над землею, всех привлеку к Себе».

33 Сказал Он это, давая понять, какою смертью предстояло умереть Ему.

34 Из толпы возразили: «Из Писания нам известно, что обещанный Мессия останется с нами навеки. Почему же Ты говоришь, что Сын Человеческий должен быть поднят? И вообще, кто Он, Этот Сын Человеческий?»

35 Иисус тогда сказал им: «Свет еще с вами, но лишь на короткое время. Ходите ж при Свете, пока есть он у вас, дабы тьма не объяла вас! Во тьме ходящий не знает, куда идет он.

36 Пока Свет еще светит вам, верьте в Свет, чтобы стать детьми Света!» Сказав это, Иисус ушел и больше среди них не появлялся.

37 И хотя совершил Он так много знамений у них на глазах, они всё же в Него не верили.

38 Так что исполнились слова пророка Исайи, сказавшего: «Господи, кто поверил слышанному от нас, и кому открылось могущество руки Господней?»

39 Да и не способны были они поверить, потому что, как сказал далее Исайя:

40 «Ослепил Господь их глаза и каменными сделал их сердца, дабы, как говорит Он, глазами своими они не видели, и не могли постичь сердцем, и не обратились ко Мне, чтобы Я исцелил их».

41 Исайя сказал так потому, что видел славу Иисуса. О Нем он говорил.

42 При всём том даже многие из предводителей иудейских уверовали в Него, но из-за фарисеев не признавались в этом, чтобы не отлучили их от синагоги.

43 Быть в почете у людей для них было дороже, чем быть в почете у Бога.

44 Иисус же суть учения Своего объявил громко и прямо: «Всякий верующий в Меня не в Меня верит, но в Того, Кто послал Меня, верит;

45 и видящий Меня видит Того, Кто Меня послал.

46 Я в мир пришел как свет, чтобы ни один верующий в Меня во тьме не оставался.

47 А что до того, кто слова Мои слышит, но ими пренебрегает, не судья Я ему, ведь Я пришел не судить мир, а чтобы спасти его.

48 Отвергающий Меня и не принимающий слова Мои сам уже нашел себе судью: слово, Мною сказанное, осудит его в последний День.

49 Не от Себя ведь говорил Я, пославший Меня Отец сказал Мне, что говорить и какими словами.

50 Я знаю, что наказ Его — это вечная жизнь. Потому, что говорю Я, говорю так, как сказал Мне Отец».

3 Then Mary took a cruse containing pure and expensive nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.	3 Мария же взяла тогда фунт ценнейшего благовонного масла из чистого нарда, умастила им ноги Иисуса и вытерла их волосами своими. Весь дом наполнился благоуханием того масла.
4 And Judas of Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was about to betray him, said,	4 Иуда Искариот, один [из] учеников Иисуса (тот, что потом предал Его), стал возмущаться:
5 Why was not this oil sold for three hundred pennies, and given to the poor?	5 «Почему было не продать это масло, ведь оно стоит сотни три денариев? А деньги можно было бы раздать нищим».
6 He said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and the purse was with him, and he carried whatever was put in it.	6 Он говорил так не потому, что пекся о нищих, а потому, что был нечестен; ему доверяли ящик для пожертвований, и он крал кое-что из того, что туда клали.
7 Jesus then said, Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial.	7 Но Иисус сказал: «Оставь ее! Она хранила эти благовония на день Моего погребения.
8 For you have the poor always with you, but me you have not always.	8 Нищие всегда будут с вами, а Я — не всегда».
9 Many people of the Jews heard that Jesus was there; so they came, not only on account of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.	9 Прослышав о том, что Иисус в Вифании, туда пришли толпы иудеев, и не только из-за Иисуса, но также чтобы увидеть Лазаря, которого Он воскресил из мертвых.
10 And the high priests were thinking of killing Lazarus also;	10 Первосвященники решили тогда убить и Лазаря,
11 Because on his account a great many Jews were leaving and believing in Jesus.	11 потому что это из-за него многие иудеи уходили от них и начинали верить в Иисуса.
12 On the next day, a large crowd which had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,	12 На следующий день толпы людей, пришедших на праздник Пасхи, услышав, что Иисус идет в Иерусалим,

14 And Jesus found an ass and sat on it; as it is written,	14 Иисус же нашел с помощью учеников молодого осла и ехал на нем, как и было сказано о том в Писании:
15 Fear not, O daughter of Zion; behold, your king cometh to you, riding on the colt of an ass.	15 «Не бойся, дочь Сиона! Вот, Царь твой грядет к тебе, на молодом осле восседает Он».
16 His disciples did not understand these things at that time; but when Jesus was glorified, then his disciples remembered that these things were written concerning him, and that they had done these things to him.	16 Ученики Его сперва не поняли этого, но потом, когда воскрешен уже был Иисус и явлен в славе Своей, вспомнили они, что так о Нем было написано и они это сделали для Него.
17 The people who were with him testified that he had called Lazarus from the tomb, and raised him from the dead.	17 А люди, которые были с Иисусом, и их немало было, продолжали рассказывать о том, что Он вызвал Лазаря из могилы и воскресил его из мертвых;
18 It was on this account that large crowds went out to meet him, for they heard that he had performed this miracle.	18 и многие вышли встречать Иисуса потому, что услышали о совершенном Им чуде.
19 The Pharisees said one to another, Do you see that you have not been able to gain anything? Behold, all the people have gone after him.	19 А фарисеи говорили друг другу: «Видите, ничего у нас не получается. Весь мир пошел за Ним».
20 Now there were some Gentiles * among them who had come up to worship at the feast.	20 Среди пришедших на поклонение были в дни праздника в Иерусалиме и те, кого называли язычниками.
21 They came and approached Philip of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, My lord, we would like to see Jesus.	21 Они пришли к Филиппу, который был из Вифсаиды галилейской, и попросили его: «Господин, мы хотели бы познакомиться с Иисусом».
22 Philip came and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip told Jesus.	22 Филипп пошел и сказал об этом Андрею; потом они отправились к Иисусу. Узнав о просьбе,
23 Jesus answered and said to them, The hour has come that the Son of man should be glorified.	23 Иисус ответил им: «Пришел час Сыну Человеческому быть явленным в славе Своей.
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, that unless a grain of wheat falls and dies in the ground, it will be left alone; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.	24 Воистину, если зерно пшеничное в землю не упадет и не умрет, так и останется одиноким зернышком, а если умрет — принесет обильный урожай.
25 He who loves his life will lose it; and he who has no concern for his life in this world will keep it unto life eternal.	25 Тот, кому всего дороже его жизнь, лишает себя ее, а кто в этом мире жизнью своей не дорожит, для вечной жизни сохранит ее.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also will my servant be; he who serves me, him my Father will honor.	26 Кто хочет служить Мне, пусть следует за Мной. Где Я, там и слуга Мой будет. Того, кто служит мне, почтит Отец.
27 Now my soul is disturbed, and what shall I say? O my Father, deliver me from this hour; but for this cause I came to this very hour.	27 В смятении ныне душа Моя. Что Мне сказать? Не просить же: „Отец, избавь Меня от часа сего“. Ведь для того Я и пришел в час сей.
28 O Father, glorify your name. Then a voice was heard from heaven, I am glorified, and I shall again be glorified.	28 Прошу только: „Отец, открой людям величие имени Твоего!“» Тогда с неба раздался голос: «Открыл Я уже и еще открою».
29 And the people who stood by heard it, and said, It was thunder; others said, An angel spoke to him.	29 Люди, стоявшие вокруг Иисуса, говорили, что слышали гром, а иные утверждали, что ангел разговаривал с Ним.
30 Jesus answered and said to them, This voice was not on my account, but for your sake.	30 Иисус же сказал: «Голос этот не ради Меня сюда донесся, а ради вас.
31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the leader of this world will be cast out.	31 Настал ныне час суда над миром этим, ныне князь мира сего изгнан будет вон.
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw every man to me.	32 Когда же поднят буду Я над землею, всех привлеку к Себе».
33 He said this, to show by what kind of death he was to die.	33 Сказал Он это, давая понять, какою смертью предстояло умереть Ему.
34 The people said to him, We have heard from the law that the Christ shall remain forever; how do you say that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?	34 Из толпы возразили: «Из Писания нам известно, что обещанный Мессия останется с нами навеки. Почему же Ты говоришь, что Сын Человеческий должен быть поднят? И вообще, кто Он, Этот Сын Человеческий?»
35 Jesus said to them, The light is with you for a little while; walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overcome you; and he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.	35 Иисус тогда сказал им: «Свет еще с вами, но лишь на короткое время. Ходите ж при Свете, пока есть он у вас, дабы тьма не объяла вас! Во тьме ходящий не знает, куда идет он.
36 While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become the sons of the light. Jesus spoke these things, and went away and hid himself from them.	36 Пока Свет еще светит вам, верьте в Свет, чтобы стать детьми Света!» Сказав это, Иисус ушел и больше среди них не появлялся.
37 Even though he had performed all of these miracles before them, yet they did not believe in him;	37 И хотя совершил Он так много знамений у них на глазах, они всё же в Него не верили.
38 So that the word of the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, who said, My Lord, who will believe our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?	38 Так что исполнились слова пророка Исайи, сказавшего: «Господи, кто поверил слышанному от нас, и кому открылось могущество руки Господней?»
39 For this reason, they could not believe, because Isaiah said again,	39 Да и не способны были они поверить, потому что, как сказал далее Исайя:
40 Their eyes have become blind and their heart darkened, so that they cannot see with their eyes and understand with their heart; let them return and I will heal them.	40 «Ослепил Господь их глаза и каменными сделал их сердца, дабы, как говорит Он, глазами своими они не видели, и не могли постичь сердцем, и не обратились ко Мне, чтобы Я исцелил их».
41 Isaiah said these things, when he saw his glory and spoke concerning him.	41 Исайя сказал так потому, что видел славу Иисуса. О Нем он говорил.
42 Many of the leading men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they might not be cast out of the synagogue.	42 При всём том даже многие из предводителей иудейских уверовали в Него, но из-за фарисеев не признавались в этом, чтобы не отлучили их от синагоги.
43 For they loved the honor of men more than the glory of God.	43 Быть в почете у людей для них было дороже, чем быть в почете у Бога.
44 Jesus cried out and said, He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.	44 Иисус же суть учения Своего объявил громко и прямо: «Всякий верующий в Меня не в Меня верит, но в Того, Кто послал Меня, верит;
45 And he who sees me, has already seen him who sent me.	45 и видящий Меня видит Того, Кто Меня послал.
46 I have come into the world as the light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.	46 Я в мир пришел как свет, чтобы ни один верующий в Меня во тьме не оставался.
47 And he who hears my words, and does not obey them, I will not judge him; for I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.	47 А что до того, кто слова Мои слышит, но ими пренебрегает, не судья Я ему, ведь Я пришел не судить мир, а чтобы спасти его.
48 He who oppresses me and does not receive my words, there is one who will judge him; the word which I have spoken, it will judge him at the last day.	48 Отвергающий Меня и не принимающий слова Мои сам уже нашел себе судью: слово, Мною сказанное, осудит его в последний День.
49 For I did not speak of myself; but the Father who sent me, he commanded me what to say and what to speak.	49 Не от Себя ведь говорил Я, пославший Меня Отец сказал Мне, что говорить и какими словами.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting; these things therefore which I speak, just as my Father told me, so I speak.	50 Я знаю, что наказ Его — это вечная жизнь. Потому, что говорю Я, говорю так, как сказал Мне Отец».
