Amos

Chapter 8

1 THUS has the LORD God showed me: and behold, a sign of the end.

2 And the LORD said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A sign of the end. Then the LORD said to me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not again cause it to pass by them any more.

3 And the songs of the temple shall be howling in that day, says the LORD God; there shall be many dead bodies in every place; and they shall be cast away to destruction.

4 Hear this, O you who wrong the poor, and cause the needy of the land to come to an end,

5 Saying, When will the month be over, that we may sell grain? When will the sabbath be over that we may open storehouses and make our measures small and enlarge weights and make deceitful balances?

6 That we may sell to the poor for silver, and pay the needy with the refuse of the wheat, and sell the refuse which is left on the floor of the storehouses.

7 The LORD, the Mighty One of Jacob, has sworn, Surely, I will never forget any of their works.

8 Shall not the land tremble for these things, and every one mourn who dwells in it? The end shall come up like a flooded river; and it shall cast things away, and then recede like the river of Egypt.

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the daylight.

10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I will put sackcloth upon all your loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end of it as a bitter day.

11 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will send a famine in the land; not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of the LORD;

12 And they shall gather together from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

13 In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint for thirst.

14 They that swore by the idols of Samaria, saying, As your god lives, O Dan, and, as the cult of Beer-sheba lives, even they shall fall and never rise again.

1 Вот что показал мне Владыка Господь: корзину со спелыми плодами.

2 — Что ты видишь, Амос? — спросил Он. — Корзину со спелыми плодами, — ответил я. Тогда сказал мне Господь: — Пришел конец Моему народу, Израилю; Я больше не буду их щадить.

3 Храмовые песни в тот день станут воплем, — возвещает Владыка Господь. — Повсюду разбросано множество трупов! Молчи!

4 Слушайте это, топчущие бедных, уничтожающие нищих страны,

5 говоря: «Когда же пройдет праздник Новолуния, чтобы нам продавать зерно, и суббота закончится, чтобы нам торговать пшеницей?» — урезая меру, завышая цену и обманывая неточными весами,

6 покупая нищего за серебро и бедного за пару сандалий, продавая даже шелуху от зерна.

7 Гордостью Иакова поклялся Господь: — Никогда не забуду ничего из их дел.

8 — Разве не содрогнется от этого земля, и не заплачет всякий живущий на ней? Вся земля поднимется, как Нил, будет вздыматься и убывать, как река Египта.

9 В тот день, — возвещает Владыка Господь, — Я сделаю так, что солнце закатится в полдень и накрою землю мраком средь ясного дня.

10 Праздники ваши обращу в скорбь и все ваши песни — в плач. Я заставлю всех вас одеться в рубище и обрить свои головы. Произведу в то время плач, как о единственном сыне, и горьким будет день, когда наступит конец.

11 Близятся дни, — возвещает Владыка Господь, — когда Я пошлю на землю голод — не пищи голод, не жажду воды, а голод и жажду услышать слова Господа.

12 Будут скитаться от моря до моря и от севера метаться к востоку в поисках слова Господня, но не найдут его.

13 В тот день красивые девушки и юноши ослабеют от жажды.

14 Те, кто клянется виной Самарии, и говорит: «Верно, как и то, что бог твой жив, о Дан» — или: «Верно, как и то, что живо паломничество в Вирсавию», падут и больше не встанут.

2 — Что ты видишь, Амос? — спросил Он. — Корзину со спелыми плодами, — ответил я. Тогда сказал мне Господь: — Пришел конец Моему народу, Израилю; Я больше не буду их щадить.

3 Храмовые песни в тот день станут воплем, — возвещает Владыка Господь. — Повсюду разбросано множество трупов! Молчи!

4 Слушайте это, топчущие бедных, уничтожающие нищих страны,

7 Гордостью Иакова поклялся Господь: — Никогда не забуду ничего из их дел.

10 Праздники ваши обращу в скорбь и все ваши песни — в плач. Я заставлю всех вас одеться в рубище и обрить свои головы. Произведу в то время плач, как о единственном сыне, и горьким будет день, когда наступит конец.
