Chapter 15

1 AFTER these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am your shield, and your reward is exceedingly great.

2 And Abram said, O LORD God, what will thou give me, for I will die childless, and Eliezer of Damascus, one of my household, will be my heir?

3 And Abram said, Behold, thou hast given me no son; and, behold, one of the members of my household will be my heir.

4 Then the LORD said to him, This man shall not be your heir; but your own son that shall come out of your own loins shall be your heir.

5 And he brought him outside, and said to him, Look now toward heaven and number the stars, if you are able to number them; and he said to him, So shall your descendants be.

6 And Abram believed in the LORD; and it was counted to him for righteousness.

7 And he said to him, I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.

8 And Abram said, O LORD God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

9 And he said to him, Take for yourself a heifer, three years old, a three year old ram, a three year old she-goat, a pigeon, and a young dove.

10 And he took to himself all these, and cut them in two, and laid each piece against another; but the birds he did not divide.

11 And when the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away.

12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram; and, lo, fear and a great darkness fell upon him.

13 And the LORD said to Abram, Know of a surety that your descendants shall be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and shall be in servitude: and they shall afflict them for four hundred years;

14 But I will judge the nation which they shall serve; and afterward they shall come out with great wealth.

15 And you shall depart from this life and go to your fathers in peace; and you shall be buried at a good old age.

16 And after four centuries, they shall return here; for the iniquities of the Amorites are not yet full.

17 And it came to pass that when the sun had set and it was dark, behold there appeared a smoking furnace and a burning torch that passed between those pieces.

18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your descendants have I given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

19 The land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

20 The Hittites, the Perizzites, the Giants,

21 The Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

3 И сказал559 Аврам:87 вот, Ты не дал5414 мне потомства,2233 и вот, домочадец1121 мой наследник3423 мой.

4 И было слово1697 Господа3068 к нему, и сказано:559 не будет он твоим наследником,3423 но тот, кто произойдет3318 из чресл4578 твоих, будет твоим наследником.3423

5 И вывел3318 его вон2351 и сказал:559 посмотри5027 на небо8064 и сосчитай5608 звезды,3556 если ты можешь3201 счесть5608 их. И сказал559 ему: столько3541 будет у тебя потомков.2233

6 Аврам поверил539 Господу,3068 и Он вменил2803 ему это в праведность.6666

7 И сказал559 ему: Я Господь,3068 Который вывел3318 тебя из Ура218 Халдейского,3778 чтобы дать5414 тебе землю776 сию во владение.3423

8 Он сказал:559 Владыка136 Господи!3069 по чему мне узнать,3045 что я буду3423 владеть3423 ею?

9 Господь сказал559 ему: возьми3947 Мне трехлетнюю8027 телицу,5697 трехлетнюю8027 козу,5795 трехлетнего8027 овна,352 горлицу8449 и молодого1469 голубя.1469

10 Он взял3947 всех их, рассек1334 их пополам8432 и положил5414 одну376 часть1335 против7125 другой;7453 только птиц6833 не рассек.1334

11 И налетели3381 на трупы6297 хищные5861 птицы;5861 но Аврам87 отгонял5380 их.

12 При захождении935 солнца8121 крепкий8639 сон8639 напал5307 на Аврама,87 и вот, напал5307 на него ужас367 и мрак2825 великий.1419

13 И сказал559 Господь Авраму:87 знай,3045 что потомки2233 твои будут пришельцами1616 в земле776 не своей, и поработят5647 их, и будут6031 угнетать6031 их четыреста7023967 лет,8141

14 но Я произведу1777 суд1777 над народом,1471 у которого они будут5647 в5647 порабощении;5647 после сего они выйдут3318 с большим1419 имуществом,7399

15 а ты отойдешь935 к отцам1 твоим в мире7965 и будешь6912 погребен6912 в старости7872 доброй;2896
