Глава 18

1 Однажды в полуденный зной у дубравы Мамре, когда Авраам сидел у входа в шатер, ГОСПОДЬ опять явился ему.

2 Произошло это так: Авраам поднял свой взор — и вот неподалеку стоят три путника. Увидев их, он от самого входа в шатер побежал их встретить, поклонился до земли

3 и сказал: «Владыка мой! Если Ты благоволишь ко мне, то, пожалуйста, не проходи мимо раба Твоего.

4 Позволь послать за водой, чтобы вы могли ноги вымыть и отдохнуть под этим деревом,

5 а я принесу хлеба, чтобы вы подкрепились, прежде чем путь свой продолжите, коль уж вы мимо раба вашего идете». «Хорошо, — ответили они, — сделай, как ты сказал».

6 Авраам поспешил к шатру и сказал Сарре: «Скорее замеси три меры самой лучшей муки и испеки лепешек».

7 А затем, прибежав к стаду, он выбрал теленка нежного и упитанного и отдал слуге, который стал быстро готовить его.

8 Он принес сушеный творог, молоко и телятину, когда та была приготовлена, и поставил перед ними, и там под деревом сам прислуживал им, пока они ели.

9 На их вопрос: «А где Сарра, жена твоя?» он ответил: «Здесь она, в шатре».

10 Тогда один из гостей сказал: «К этому времени в следующем году Я опять непременно приду к тебе, и у Сарры, жены твоей, будет сын». (Сарра слушала этот разговор, стоя у входа в шатер, как раз за спиной у Авраама.

11 Авраам и Сарра были уже довольно стары, и Сарра вышла из того возраста, когда она могла бы иметь детей.)

12 Поэтому Сарра рассмеялась про себя и подумала: «Мне ли, когда я увяла, иметь такое утешенье? Да и господин мой стар».

13 «Не стоит Сарре смеяться, — сказал ГОСПОДЬ Аврааму, — и не стоит ей думать: „Неужели я, такая старая, смогу родить?“

14 Есть ли что-нибудь невозможное для ГОСПОДА? В назначенный срок буду Я у тебя в следующем году, и у Сарры будет сын».

15 А Сарра испугалась и сказала неправду: «Я не смеялась». «Нет, — возразил Он ей, — ты рассмеялась».

16 От Авраама те мужи отправились к месту, с которого им был виден Содом; Авраам пошел проводить их.

17 А ГОСПОДЬ сказал: «Буду ли скрывать от Авраама то, что намерен Я сделать?

18 Ведь от него произойдет народ великий и сильный, и благословением он будет для всех народов земли.

19 Я избрал его, чтобы он заповедал детям своим и всему потомству своему после него твердо держаться пути ГОСПОДНЕГО: творить добро и во всем поступать справедливо, дабы Я, ГОСПОДЬ, мог даровать Аврааму всё, что обещал ему».

20 И сказал тогда ГОСПОДЬ: «Велик вопль, исходящий из Содома и Гоморры! Грех этих городов, должно быть, ужасно тяжел!

21 Сойду и посмотрю: верно ли, что они заслужили уничтожение за дела свои, из-за которых вопли ко Мне доносятся; так или нет, Я об этом узнаю».

22 Двое мужей повернулись и пошли оттуда к Содому, а ГОСПОДЬ остался с Авраамом.

23 Подойдя к Нему, Авраам сказал: «Неужели Ты уничтожишь праведного вместе с нечестивым?

24 А что, если в этом городе найдется пятьдесят праведников? Неужели Ты уничтожишь его и не пощадишь этот город ради пятидесяти праведников, живущих в нем?

25 Не можешь Ты так поступить — не предашь смерти праведного вместе с нечестивым! Праведник не разделит участи с нечестивцем. Ты же не сделаешь этого! Судия всей земли поступит ли несправедливо?»

26 И ГОСПОДЬ заверил его: «Если Я найду в Содоме пятьдесят праведников, пощажу весь город ради них».

27 «Владыка мой, — сказал Авраам, — я прах и пепел, но решаюсь спросить у Тебя:

28 может быть, до пятидесяти праведников недостанет пятерых, неужели Ты уничтожишь весь город, если на пять праведников там будет меньше?» «Не уничтожу, — сказал ГОСПОДЬ, — если найду там сорок пять».

29 «А если там найдется только сорок?» — опять спросил Авраам. «Не сделаю этого и ради сорока», — ответил ГОСПОДЬ.

30 «Прошу, — сказал Авраам, — не гневайся, Владыка мой, на слова мои: может быть, только тридцать найдется там?» «Не сделаю этого, — ответил Он, — не уничтожу город, если найду там тридцать праведников».

31 Авраам продолжил: «Я всё еще не перестаю спрашивать Владыку моего: а что будет, если найдется там только двадцать?» Он сказал: «Не уничтожу ради двадцати».

32 «Прошу, — молвил Авраам, — не гневайся, Владыка мой, если я скажу еще один раз: а что, если там всего только десять праведников?» «Не уничтожу, — ответил Он, — и ради десяти».

33 Закончив разговор с Авраамом, ГОСПОДЬ покинул его, а Авраам вернулся домой.

Genesis

Chapter 18

1 AND the LORD revealed himself to him by the oak of Mamre, as he was sitting at the door of the tent in the heat of the day;

2 And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, three men stood at a distance from him; and when he saw them, he ran from the door of the tent to meet them and bowed himself to the ground,

3 And said, O LORD, if now I have found mercy in thy sight, do not pass away from thy servant;

4 Let me bring a little water and wash your feet and rest yourselves under the tree;

5 And take a morsel of bread and sustain your hearts; after that you shall go on your way, since you have come to your servant. And they said, So do as you have said.

6 So Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine flour, knead it, and make cakes on a griddle.

7 And Abraham ran to the herd, and took a calf fat and good, and gave it to a servant, and he hastened to prepare it.

8 And he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set them before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they ate.

9 And they said to him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold, she is in the tent.

10 And the LORD said, I will certainly return to you at this time next year, and 1o, Sarah your wife shall be with child, and shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door which was behind her.

11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well advanced in years; and Sarah was beyond the age of childbearing.

12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am grown old, shall I renew my youth, my lord being old also?

13 And the LORD said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I truly bear a child, when I am so old?

14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at this season, and Sarah your wife shall be with child, and shall have a son.

15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I did not laugh; because she was afraid. And he said, No; but you did laugh.

16 And the men rose up from there and looked toward Sodom; and Abraham went with them to see them off.

17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from my servant Abraham the thing which I am going to do,

18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him?

19 For I know him well, and that he will command his children and his household after him, to keep the ways of the LORD, to do justice and righteousness; for the LORD shall fulfil for Abraham the thing that he has spoken concerning him.

20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah has come before me and their sins are very grievous,

21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to their cry which has come before me; and if not, I will know.

22 So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom; but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

23 And Abraham drew near and said, Wilt thou in thine anger destroy the righteous with the sinners?

24 Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; wilt thou in thine anger destroy it, and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous that are in it?

25 Far be it from thee to do such a thing as this, to slay the innocent with the guilty, far be it from thee, O thou Judge of the whole earth! Such a judgment should never be carried out.

26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole country for their sake.

27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold, I have ventured to speak before the LORD, and yet I am but dust and ashes;

28 Suppose there shall lack five of the fifty righteous; wilt thou destroy the whole city for the lack of five men? And he said, If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it.

29 And Abraham spoke to him and said, Suppose there shall be forty found there? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find there forty.

30 Then Abraham said, Oh let not the LORD be displeased and I will speak: Suppose there shall thirty be found there? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find thirty there.

31 And he said, Behold, I have ventured to speak before the LORD; suppose there shall be twenty found there? And he said, I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.

32 And he said, Oh, let not the LORD be displeased, and I will speak only once more; suppose ten shall be found there? And he said, I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.

33 And the LORD went his way when he had finished communing with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

3 и сказал: «Владыка мой! Если Ты благоволишь ко мне, то, пожалуйста, не проходи мимо раба Твоего.	3 And said, O LORD, if now I have found mercy in thy sight, do not pass away from thy servant;
4 Позволь послать за водой, чтобы вы могли ноги вымыть и отдохнуть под этим деревом,	4 Let me bring a little water and wash your feet and rest yourselves under the tree;
5 а я принесу хлеба, чтобы вы подкрепились, прежде чем путь свой продолжите, коль уж вы мимо раба вашего идете». «Хорошо, — ответили они, — сделай, как ты сказал».	5 And take a morsel of bread and sustain your hearts; after that you shall go on your way, since you have come to your servant. 6 Авраам поспешил к шатру и сказал Сарре: «Скорее замеси три меры самой лучшей муки и испеки лепешек».	6 So Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine flour, knead it, and make cakes on a griddle.
7 А затем, прибежав к стаду, он выбрал теленка нежного и упитанного и отдал слуге, который стал быстро готовить его.	7 And Abraham ran to the herd, and took a calf fat and good, and gave it to a servant, and he hastened to prepare it.
8 Он принес сушеный творог, молоко и телятину, когда та была приготовлена, и поставил перед ними, и там под деревом сам прислуживал им, пока они ели.	8 And he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set them before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they ate.
9 На их вопрос: «А где Сарра, жена твоя?» он ответил: «Здесь она, в шатре».	9 And they said to him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold, she is in the tent.
10 Тогда один из гостей сказал: «К этому времени в следующем году Я опять непременно приду к тебе, и у Сарры, жены твоей, будет сын». (Сарра слушала этот разговор, стоя у входа в шатер, как раз за спиной у Авраама.	10 And the LORD said, I will certainly return to you at this time next year, and 1o, Sarah your wife shall be with child, and shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door which was behind her.
11 Авраам и Сарра были уже довольно стары, и Сарра вышла из того возраста, когда она могла бы иметь детей.)	11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well advanced in years; and Sarah was beyond the age of childbearing.
12 Поэтому Сарра рассмеялась про себя и подумала: «Мне ли, когда я увяла, иметь такое утешенье? Да и господин мой стар».	12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am grown old, shall I renew my youth, my lord being old also?
13 «Не стоит Сарре смеяться, — сказал ГОСПОДЬ Аврааму, — и не стоит ей думать: „Неужели я, такая старая, смогу родить?“	13 And the LORD said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I truly bear a child, when I am so old?
14 Есть ли что-нибудь невозможное для ГОСПОДА? В назначенный срок буду Я у тебя в следующем году, и у Сарры будет сын».	14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at this season, and Sarah your wife shall be with child, and shall have a son.
15 А Сарра испугалась и сказала неправду: «Я не смеялась». «Нет, — возразил Он ей, — ты рассмеялась».	15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I did not laugh; because she was afraid. And he said, No; but you did laugh.
16 От Авраама те мужи отправились к месту, с которого им был виден Содом; Авраам пошел проводить их.	16 And the men rose up from there and looked toward Sodom; and Abraham went with them to see them off.
17 А ГОСПОДЬ сказал: «Буду ли скрывать от Авраама то, что намерен Я сделать?	17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from my servant Abraham the thing which I am going to do,
18 Ведь от него произойдет народ великий и сильный, и благословением он будет для всех народов земли.	18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him?
19 Я избрал его, чтобы он заповедал детям своим и всему потомству своему после него твердо держаться пути ГОСПОДНЕГО: творить добро и во всем поступать справедливо, дабы Я, ГОСПОДЬ, мог даровать Аврааму всё, что обещал ему».	19 For I know him well, and that he will command his children and his household after him, to keep the ways of the LORD, to do justice and righteousness; for the LORD shall fulfil for Abraham the thing that he has spoken concerning him.
20 И сказал тогда ГОСПОДЬ: «Велик вопль, исходящий из Содома и Гоморры! Грех этих городов, должно быть, ужасно тяжел!	20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah has come before me and their sins are very grievous,
21 Сойду и посмотрю: верно ли, что они заслужили уничтожение за дела свои, из-за которых вопли ко Мне доносятся; так или нет, Я об этом узнаю».	21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to their cry which has come before me; and if not, I will know.
22 Двое мужей повернулись и пошли оттуда к Содому, а ГОСПОДЬ остался с Авраамом.	22 So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom; but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.
23 Подойдя к Нему, Авраам сказал: «Неужели Ты уничтожишь праведного вместе с нечестивым?	23 And Abraham drew near and said, Wilt thou in thine anger destroy the righteous with the sinners?
24 А что, если в этом городе найдется пятьдесят праведников? Неужели Ты уничтожишь его и не пощадишь этот город ради пятидесяти праведников, живущих в нем?	24 Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; wilt thou in thine anger destroy it, and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous that are in it?
25 Не можешь Ты так поступить — не предашь смерти праведного вместе с нечестивым! Праведник не разделит участи с нечестивцем. Ты же не сделаешь этого! Судия всей земли поступит ли несправедливо?»	25 Far be it from thee to do such a thing as this, to slay the innocent with the guilty, far be it from thee, O thou Judge of the whole earth! Such a judgment should never be carried out.
26 И ГОСПОДЬ заверил его: «Если Я найду в Содоме пятьдесят праведников, пощажу весь город ради них».	26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole country for their sake.
27 «Владыка мой, — сказал Авраам, — я прах и пепел, но решаюсь спросить у Тебя:	27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold, I have ventured to speak before the LORD, and yet I am but dust and ashes;

30 «Прошу, — сказал Авраам, — не гневайся, Владыка мой, на слова мои: может быть, только тридцать найдется там?» «Не сделаю этого, — ответил Он, — не уничтожу город, если найду там тридцать праведников».	30 Then Abraham said, Oh let not the LORD be displeased and I will speak: Suppose there shall thirty be found there? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I find thirty there.
31 Авраам продолжил: «Я всё еще не перестаю спрашивать Владыку моего: а что будет, если найдется там только двадцать?» Он сказал: «Не уничтожу ради двадцати».	31 And he said, Behold, I have ventured to speak before the LORD; suppose there shall be twenty found there? And he said, I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.
32 «Прошу, — молвил Авраам, — не гневайся, Владыка мой, если я скажу еще один раз: а что, если там всего только десять праведников?» «Не уничтожу, — ответил Он, — и ради десяти».	32 And he said, Oh, let not the LORD be displeased, and I will speak only once more; suppose ten shall be found there? 33 Закончив разговор с Авраамом, ГОСПОДЬ покинул его, а Авраам вернулся домой.	33 And the LORD went his way when he had finished communing with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.
