Глава 25

1 Авраам взял себе другую жену, ее звали Кетура,

2 она родила ему Зимрана, Йокшана, Медана, Мидьяна, Ишбака и Шуаха.

3 У Йокшана родились Шева и Дедан. Ашшуреи, летушеи и леуммеи — потомки Дедана.

4 Сыновья Мидьяна: Эфа, Эфер, Ханох, Авида и Эльдаа. Все они потомки Кетуры.

5 Всë, чем он владел, Авраам передал Исааку,

6 а сыновей наложниц своих он щедро одарил и еще при жизни своей отослал их на восток, в земли восточные, подальше от сына своего Исаака.

7 Всех лет жизни Авраама — сто семьдесят пять.

8 Прошли годы странствий его, и он скончался. Умер Авраам в глубокой старости, насытившись жизнью; и отошел он к праотцам своим.

9 Похоронили его Исаак и Измаил, сыновья его, в пещере Махпела, на востоке от Мамре, на поле Эфрона-хетта, сына Цохарова,

10 на поле, которое Авраам приобрел у хеттов; и Авраам, и жена его Сарра погребены там.

11 После смерти Авраама благословил Бог его сына Исаака, поселившегося возле Беэр-Лахай-Рои.

12 ЗАПИСЬ О ПОТОМКАХ Измаила, сына Авраама от египтянки Агари, рабыни Сарриной.

13 И вот имена сыновей Измаила по старшинству: Невайот, первенец Измаила, за ним Кедар, Адбеэль, Мивсам,

14 Мишма, Дума, Масса,

15 Хадад, Тема, Етур, Нафиш и Кедма.

16 Это сыны Измаила, по именам которых названы селения и стоянки их. Это двенадцать вождей со своими племенами.

17 Измаилу было сто тридцать семь лет, когда он испустил свой последний вздох; умер он и приобщился к покою праотцев своих.

18 Потомки Измаила расселились от Хавилы до Шура, что находится восточнее Египта по направлению к Ашшуру. Жили они в стороне от всех братьев своих.

19 ПОТОМКИ Исаака, сына Авраамова. У Авраама родился Исаак.

20 Исааку было сорок лет, когда он взял в жены Ревекку, дочь Бетуэля-арамея из Паддан-Арама, сестру Лавана-арамея.

21 У Ревекки не было детей, и поэтому Исаак молился ГОСПОДУ о жене своей. Ответил ГОСПОДЬ на мольбу его: Ревекка, жена его, зачала.

22 Младенцы же во чреве ее так сильно толкали друг друга, что она воскликнула: «Если так и впредь будет, то для чего мне это?» И пошла вопросить ГОСПОДА.

23 ГОСПОДЬ сказал ей: «В себе два народа ты носишь, два племени, что путями своими пойдут от рожденья; одно племя сильней другого станет, и старший будет младшему слугой!»

24 Когда настало ей время родить, оказалось — близнецы во чреве ее!

25 Первый явился на свет красноватым, волосатым, как ворсистая одежда, его назвали Исавом.

26 Потом родился второй близнец, ухватившийся рукой своей за пятку Исава; его назвали Иаковом. Исааку было шестьдесят лет, когда они родились.

27 Дети выросли. Исав стал ловким охотником, человеком поля, а благонравный Иаков предпочитал оставаться дома.

28 Исаак любил Исава — нравилась ему дичь Исавова, а Ревекка любила Иакова.

29 Однажды, когда Иаков готовил обед, Исав вернулся с охоты, измученный и голодный.

30 «Изнемог я! — сказал он Иакову. — Дай, прошу, мне поесть того красного, того варева красного». (Потому и прозвали его Эдом.)

31 «Хорошо, если право быть первенцем сейчас же уступишь мне», — ответил Иаков.

32 «К чему мне это право — я умираю!» — вскричал Исав.

33 «Сперва поклянись мне», — настаивал Иаков; и после того, как он продал Иакову свое право считаться первенцем в семье,

34 дал Иаков хлеба Исаву и чечевичной похлебки. Тот поел, попил, поднялся и ушел. Так пренебрег Исав своим правом быть в семье первенцем.

Chapter 25

1 THEN again Abraham took another wife, and her name was Kenturah.

2 And she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 And Jokshan begot Sheba and Daran. And the sons of Daran were Asshurim, Letushim, and Ammim.

4 And the sons of Midian were Ephah, Haphar, Hanoch, Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Kenturah.

5 And Abraham gave everything that he had to Isaac.

6 But to the sons of his concubine, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac, his son, eastward to the east country, while he was still alive.

7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, a hundred and seventy-five years.

8 Then Abraham became sick, and died in a good old age, an old man satisfied with his days; and was gathered to his people.

9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the double cave, (Machpelah) which is in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10 The field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth, as a possession for a burial ground. There was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well of Khaya-khezan (The Well of The Living One who saw me).

12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham;

13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebioth, and Kedar, Arbal, and Mibsam,

14 Mishma, Romah, Massa,

15 Hadar, Tema, Nator, Naphish, and Kedem.

16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names by their villages and by their sheepfolds, twelve princes according to their nations.

17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he became sick and died; and was gathered to his people.

18 And they dwelt from Havilah as far as Shud, which extends from the border of Egypt to the gateway of Assyria; he dwelt adjacent to the lands of all his brethren.

19 These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begot Isaac;

20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Padan-aram, the sister of Laban, the Aramean (Syrian).

21 And Isaac prayed before the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 And the children struggled together within her womb; and she said, If it is to be like this, why do I live? So she went to enquire of the LORD.

23 And the LORD said to her, Two peoples are in your womb, and two nations shall be separated from your body; and the one nation shall be stronger than the other nation; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 And the first came out red, all covered with ringlets of hair; and they called his name Esau.

26 And after him his brother came forth, and his hand held Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah bore them.

27 And the boys grew up; and Esau became an expert hunter, a man of outdoor life; but Jacob was a simple man, living in a tent.

28 And Isaac was fond of Esau, because he ate of Esau's game; but Rebekah was fond of Jacob.

29 And Jacob cooked pottage, and behold, his brother Esau came in from the field, and he was very hungry;

30 And Esau said to Jacob, Give me some of that pottage, for I am famished; that is why he was called Edom.

31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day your birthright.

32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point of death; and what profit shall a birthright be to me?

33 And Jacob said to him, Swear to me this day; and he swore to him; and he sold his birthright to Jacob.

34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage; and he ate, and drank, and rose up and went his way; thus Esau despised his birthright.

1 THEN again Abraham took another wife, and her name was Kenturah.

3 У Йокшана родились Шева и Дедан. Ашшуреи, летушеи и леуммеи — потомки Дедана.

3 And Jokshan begot Sheba and Daran. And the sons of Daran were Asshurim, Letushim, and Ammim.

4 Сыновья Мидьяна: Эфа, Эфер, Ханох, Авида и Эльдаа. Все они потомки Кетуры.

4 And the sons of Midian were Ephah, Haphar, Hanoch, Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Kenturah.

5 Всë, чем он владел, Авраам передал Исааку,

5 And Abraham gave everything that he had to Isaac.

6 а сыновей наложниц своих он щедро одарил и еще при жизни своей отослал их на восток, в земли восточные, подальше от сына своего Исаака.

6 But to the sons of his concubine, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac, his son, eastward to the east country, while he was still alive.

7 Всех лет жизни Авраама — сто семьдесят пять.

7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, a hundred and seventy-five years.

8 Then Abraham became sick, and died in a good old age, an old man satisfied with his days; and was gathered to his people.

9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the double cave, (Machpelah) which is in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10 The field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth, as a possession for a burial ground. There was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well of Khaya-khezan (The Well of The Living One who saw me).

13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebioth, and Kedar, Arbal, and Mibsam,

15 Hadar, Tema, Nator, Naphish, and Kedem.

16 Это сыны Измаила, по именам которых названы селения и стоянки их. Это двенадцать вождей со своими племенами.

16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names by their villages and by their sheepfolds, twelve princes according to their nations.

17 Измаилу было сто тридцать семь лет, когда он испустил свой последний вздох; умер он и приобщился к покою праотцев своих.

17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he became sick and died; and was gathered to his people.

18 Потомки Измаила расселились от Хавилы до Шура, что находится восточнее Египта по направлению к Ашшуру. Жили они в стороне от всех братьев своих.

18 And they dwelt from Havilah as far as Shud, which extends from the border of Egypt to the gateway of Assyria; he dwelt adjacent to the lands of all his brethren.

19 ПОТОМКИ Исаака, сына Авраамова. У Авраама родился Исаак.

19 These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begot Isaac;

20 Исааку было сорок лет, когда он взял в жены Ревекку, дочь Бетуэля-арамея из Паддан-Арама, сестру Лавана-арамея.

20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Padan-aram, the sister of Laban, the Aramean (Syrian).

21 У Ревекки не было детей, и поэтому Исаак молился ГОСПОДУ о жене своей. Ответил ГОСПОДЬ на мольбу его: Ревекка, жена его, зачала.

21 And Isaac prayed before the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 Младенцы же во чреве ее так сильно толкали друг друга, что она воскликнула: «Если так и впредь будет, то для чего мне это?» И пошла вопросить ГОСПОДА.

22 And the children struggled together within her womb; and she said, If it is to be like this, why do I live? So she went to enquire of the LORD.

23 ГОСПОДЬ сказал ей: «В себе два народа ты носишь, два племени, что путями своими пойдут от рожденья; одно племя сильней другого станет, и старший будет младшему слугой!»

23 And the LORD said to her, Two peoples are in your womb, and two nations shall be separated from your body; and the one nation shall be stronger than the other nation; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 Когда настало ей время родить, оказалось — близнецы во чреве ее!

24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 Первый явился на свет красноватым, волосатым, как ворсистая одежда, его назвали Исавом.

25 And the first came out red, all covered with ringlets of hair; and they called his name Esau.

26 Потом родился второй близнец, ухватившийся рукой своей за пятку Исава; его назвали Иаковом. Исааку было шестьдесят лет, когда они родились.

26 And after him his brother came forth, and his hand held Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah bore them.

27 Дети выросли. Исав стал ловким охотником, человеком поля, а благонравный Иаков предпочитал оставаться дома.

27 And the boys grew up; and Esau became an expert hunter, a man of outdoor life; but Jacob was a simple man, living in a tent.

28 Исаак любил Исава — нравилась ему дичь Исавова, а Ревекка любила Иакова.

28 And Isaac was fond of Esau, because he ate of Esau's game; but Rebekah was fond of Jacob.

29 Однажды, когда Иаков готовил обед, Исав вернулся с охоты, измученный и голодный.

29 And Jacob cooked pottage, and behold, his brother Esau came in from the field, and he was very hungry;

30 «Изнемог я! — сказал он Иакову. — Дай, прошу, мне поесть того красного, того варева красного». (Потому и прозвали его Эдом.)

30 And Esau said to Jacob, Give me some of that pottage, for I am famished; that is why he was called Edom.
