Книга пророка Иеремии

Глава 2

1 И было мне слово ГОСПОДНЕ:

2 «Иди и провозгласи в Иерусалиме волю Господню, пусть услышит столица, что говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „Вспомнил Я, как ты была Мне предана в юности, как любила Меня еще невестой, ты пошла тогда за Мной в пустыню, в землю, которую никто не засевал.

3 Израиль — святыня ГОСПОДА, он был первым плодом Его жатвы. Все на него посягавшие виновными станут, постигнет их бедствие“», — таково вещее слово ГОСПОДНЕ.

4 Слушайте слово ГОСПОДА, род Иакова, все племена Израиля!

5 Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: «В чем усмотрели отцы ваши вину Мою перед ними, что так отдалились от Меня, погнались за никчемными идолами и сами никчемными стали?

6 Они не спросили: „Где ГОСПОДЬ, Тот, Кто вывел нас из Египта, Кто водил нас по пустыне, по голым равнинам, ущельям, сквозь непроглядную тьму по земле иссохшей — той земле, куда не ступала нога человека, где никто никогда не селился?“

7 А ведь это Я привел вас в плодородную землю, чтобы вы насыщались благими дарами ее. Вы же пришли — и землю Мою осквернили, наследие Мое обратили в мерзость.

8 И священники не спросили: „Где ГОСПОДЬ?“ Изъясняющие Закон Мой не знают Меня, против Меня восстают и пастыри, пророки вещают именем Ваала, идолам служат, в коих нет для них пользы.

9 За это Я буду судиться с вами, — говорит ГОСПОДЬ, — и с сыновьями сынов ваших буду судиться.

10 Поезжайте на острова Кипра и посмотрите, в Кедар гонцов своих направьте и разберитесь, узнайте, случалось ли где подобное этому.

11 Меняют ли народы своих богов, притом что у них и вовсе не боги? А народ Мой променял свою славу на идолов, от которых нет никакой пользы.

12 Ужаснитесь этому, небеса, содрогнитесь от страшного потрясения, — это слово ГОСПОДА. —

13 Два преступления совершил Мой народ: отверг Меня, Источник живой воды, и высек себе водоемы, что растрескались и воду удержать не могут.

14 Разве Израиль стал рабом? Или был он рабом от рожденья? Почему же стал он добычей?

15 Зарычали львы на него молодые, голос свой подали, опустошили его землю — и сожженные города обезлюдели.

16 Египтяне из Мемфиса и Тахпанхеса бьют тебя по голове.

17 Не сама ли ты, дочь Сиона, навела на себя всё это, ГОСПОДА, Бога своего, оставив, тогда как Он вел тебя по прямой дороге?

18 Так зачем ты идешь в Египет — испить ли воды из Нила? И зачем ты идешь в Ассирию — испить ли воды из Евфрата?

19 Накажет тебя твое злодеяние, обернется против тебя вероломство. Посмотри и опомнись: горько и пагубно для тебя оставлять ГОСПОДА, Бога твоего. Но нет у тебя трепета передо Мной», — это слово Владыки, ГОСПОДА Воинств.

20 «Давно Я сломал твое ярмо, разорвал постромки твоей упряжи. Ты обещала: „Не буду служить идолам“. А на каждом высоком холме и под каждым раскидистым деревом ты блудила, склоняясь перед идолами!

21 Я растил тебя, как лучший виноградник, от самого чистого семени. Так как же ты выродилась в дикий побег чужой лозы?

22 Сколько бы ты ни отмывалась мылом, сколько бы ни изводила щёлока, так и останешься нечистой в грехах своих пред очами Моими, — так говорит Владыка ГОСПОДЬ. —

23 Как же можешь ты возражать: „Не осквернена я, не бегала за ваалами“? Оглянись на поступки свои в долине, пойми же, что ты творила, молодая резвая верблюдица, что кидается из стороны в сторону,

24 дикая ослица, выросшая в пустыне, что принюхивается вожделенно, чтоб учуять самца. Кто укротит ее страсть в пору случки? Всякий, кто ее пожелает, найдет ее без труда.

25 Остановись, пока обувь твоя не износилась, а горло от жажды не пересохло! Но ты упираешься, говоришь: „Мне милы чужеземцы, я за ними пойду“.

26 Как опозорен бывает вор, которого ловят с поличным, так опозорен род Израилев, все они: его цари, знать, священники и пророки —

27 все они говорят деревянному идолу: „Ты отец наш“, а каменного истукана родителем своим называют. Ко Мне же поворачиваются спиной, а не лицом. А во время бедствия будут взывать: „Теперь же, немедленно нас спаси!“

28 А где же твои боги, которых ты себе сделала? Пусть они встанут, если в силах тебя спасти, когда беда случится. Ведь у тебя, Иудея, сколько городов, столько и богов».

29 «Стоит ли вам судиться со Мной? Вы все восстали против Меня, — говорит ГОСПОДЬ. —

30 Напрасно наказывал Я детей ваших — не приняли они Моего вразумления. Ваши мечи истребляли пророков, словно хищные львы».

31 Все ныне живущие внемлите тому, что говорит ГОСПОДЬ: «Был ли Я пустыней для Израиля, страной кромешного мрака? Почему же народ Мой говорит: „Мы свободны идти, куда захотим, но к Тебе мы больше не вернемся“?

32 Может ли девушка забыть свои украшения или невеста — свои наряды? А народ Мой забыл Меня — и не вспоминает который год!

33 Как искусна ты в поисках любовников, даже падшую женщину тебе есть чему поучить!

34 Твоя одежда запятнана кровью бедных людей и невинных, ни в каких преступлениях не уличенных. И, несмотря на это,

35 ты смеешь говорить: „Невинна я, потому и гнев Его меня миновал“. Я взыщу с тебя на суде за то, что ты говоришь: „Я нисколько не согрешила“».

36 Отчего так легковесна ты, выбирая, куда идти? Разочарует тебя Египет, как это было однажды с Ассирией.

37 Побежишь оттуда, схватившись за голову, потому что ГОСПОДЬ отверг тех, на кого ты уповала, не видать тебе с ними успеха.

Jeremiah

Chapter 2

1 MOREOVER the word of the LORD came upon me, saying,

2 Go and proclaim in the ears of the people of Jerusalem, and say, Thus says the LORD: I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your long-suffering; for you walked after me in the wilderness, in the land that was not sown.

3 Israel has sanctified to the LORD the first fruits of his crops; all those who embezzle them shall be condemned; evil shall come upon them, says the LORD.

4 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:

5 Thus says the LORD: What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me and have walked after vanity and have profited nothing?

6 Neither did they say, Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a waste and depressed land, through a desolate land and a land of the shadow of death, a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwells?

7 And I brought you into a land of plenty, to eat its fruit and its goodness; but when you came in, you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination.

8 The priests did not say, Where is the LORD? And those who handle the law did not know me; the leaders also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and went after things that do not profit.

9 Therefore I will yet contend with you, says the LORD; and with your children's children I will contend.

10 For cross over to the islands of China and see; and send to Kedar, and understand diligently, and see if there ever has been such a thing as this.

11 Have the Gentiles changed their gods, which are not gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.

12 Be astonished, O heavens, at this, and tremble and be exceedingly afraid, says the LORD.

13 For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and they went and dug for themselves broken cisterns that can hold no water.

14 Is Israel a servant? If he is a homeborn heir, why then is he plundered?

15 The lions have roared against him, and growled, and they made his land waste; his villages have become desolate without inhabitants.

16 Also certain rulers of the inhabitants of Memphis and Tahapanes shall rule over you.

17 Behold, such shall be done unto you, because you have forsaken the LORD your God, at a time when he led you in his way.

18 And now, why is it that you go in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? And why is it that you go in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river (Euphrates)?

19 Your own evil shall chastise you, and your repentance shall reprove .you; know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, for you have forsaken the LORD your God, and you have not revered me, says the LORD God of hosts.

20 For of old time I have broken your yoke and cut your bands; and you said, I shall never serve another god again; and behold, now upon every high hill and under every green tree you wander, playing the harlot.

21 Yet I had planted you a good vine, wholly a right seed; why then have you turned against me and have become degenerate like a plant of a strange vine?

22 For though you wash yourself with nitre and use much sulphur, yet your sins within you are marked before me, says the LORD God.

23 How can you say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baal? See your ways in the valleys, and know what you have done: you have lifted up your voice, O you perverse in her ways;

24 You are like a wild ass which is untrained in the wilderness and follows her own will; you have snuffed up the wind, who can bring you back? Whoever seeks her shall weary himself, he shall find her only by means of her footprints.

25 Your feet are weary because they are unshod, and your throat is dry from thirst; but you said, I have become strong, I am unwilling to repent because I have loved strangers, and after them I will go.

26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so the children of Israel are ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,

27 Who say to a piece of wood, You are our father; and to a stone, You have brought us forth; for they have turned their backs upon me and not their faces; but in the time of their trouble, they say, Arise and save us.

28 But where are your gods that you have made for yourself? Let them arise and save you in the time of your trouble; for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

29 Why then do you contend with me? You all have transgressed against me, says the LORD.

30 In vain have I smitten your children; they have received no discipline; the sword has devoured your prophets like a destroying lion.

31 As for you, O generation, hear the word of the LORD. Have I been like a wilderness to Israel? Or a waste land? Wherefore then say my people, We are humiliated; we will come no more to you?

32 Can a maid forget her ornaments or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

33 Why do you deck yourself to induce love? For behold you have also learned evil by means of your conduct.

34 Also on your hands is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents; I have not found it by hard search, for it is under every tree.

35 Yet you say, Because I am innocent, therefore he will turn his anger from me. Behold, I will contend with you, because you have said, I have not sinned.

36 Why do you gad about so much to change your ways? You shall also be ashamed of Egypt, even as you were ashamed of Assyria.

37 Yea, you shall go forth from him humiliated; for the LORD is angry against those upon whom you have put your trust, and you shall not prosper with them.

1 MOREOVER the word of the LORD came upon me, saying,

2 «Иди и провозгласи в Иерусалиме волю Господню, пусть услышит столица, что говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „Вспомнил Я, как ты была Мне предана в юности, как любила Меня еще невестой, ты пошла тогда за Мной в пустыню, в землю, которую никто не засевал.

2 Go and proclaim in the ears of the people of Jerusalem, and say, Thus says the LORD: I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your long-suffering; for you walked after me in the wilderness, in the land that was not sown.

3 Израиль — святыня ГОСПОДА, он был первым плодом Его жатвы. Все на него посягавшие виновными станут, постигнет их бедствие“», — таково вещее слово ГОСПОДНЕ.

3 Israel has sanctified to the LORD the first fruits of his crops; all those who embezzle them shall be condemned; evil shall come upon them, says the LORD.

4 Слушайте слово ГОСПОДА, род Иакова, все племена Израиля!

4 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:

5 Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: «В чем усмотрели отцы ваши вину Мою перед ними, что так отдалились от Меня, погнались за никчемными идолами и сами никчемными стали?

5 Thus says the LORD: What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me and have walked after vanity and have profited nothing?

6 Они не спросили: „Где ГОСПОДЬ, Тот, Кто вывел нас из Египта, Кто водил нас по пустыне, по голым равнинам, ущельям, сквозь непроглядную тьму по земле иссохшей — той земле, куда не ступала нога человека, где никто никогда не селился?“

6 Neither did they say, Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a waste and depressed land, through a desolate land and a land of the shadow of death, a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwells?

7 А ведь это Я привел вас в плодородную землю, чтобы вы насыщались благими дарами ее. Вы же пришли — и землю Мою осквернили, наследие Мое обратили в мерзость.

7 And I brought you into a land of plenty, to eat its fruit and its goodness; but when you came in, you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination.

8 И священники не спросили: „Где ГОСПОДЬ?“ Изъясняющие Закон Мой не знают Меня, против Меня восстают и пастыри, пророки вещают именем Ваала, идолам служат, в коих нет для них пользы.

8 The priests did not say, Where is the LORD? And those who handle the law did not know me; the leaders also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and went after things that do not profit.

9 За это Я буду судиться с вами, — говорит ГОСПОДЬ, — и с сыновьями сынов ваших буду судиться.

9 Therefore I will yet contend with you, says the LORD; and with your children's children I will contend.

10 Поезжайте на острова Кипра и посмотрите, в Кедар гонцов своих направьте и разберитесь, узнайте, случалось ли где подобное этому.

10 For cross over to the islands of China and see; and send to Kedar, and understand diligently, and see if there ever has been such a thing as this.

11 Меняют ли народы своих богов, притом что у них и вовсе не боги? А народ Мой променял свою славу на идолов, от которых нет никакой пользы.

11 Have the Gentiles changed their gods, which are not gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.

12 Ужаснитесь этому, небеса, содрогнитесь от страшного потрясения, — это слово ГОСПОДА. —

12 Be astonished, O heavens, at this, and tremble and be exceedingly afraid, says the LORD.

13 Два преступления совершил Мой народ: отверг Меня, Источник живой воды, и высек себе водоемы, что растрескались и воду удержать не могут.

13 For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and they went and dug for themselves broken cisterns that can hold no water.

14 Разве Израиль стал рабом? Или был он рабом от рожденья? Почему же стал он добычей?

14 Is Israel a servant? If he is a homeborn heir, why then is he plundered?

15 Зарычали львы на него молодые, голос свой подали, опустошили его землю — и сожженные города обезлюдели.

15 The lions have roared against him, and growled, and they made his land waste; his villages have become desolate without inhabitants.

16 Египтяне из Мемфиса и Тахпанхеса бьют тебя по голове.

16 Also certain rulers of the inhabitants of Memphis and Tahapanes shall rule over you.

17 Не сама ли ты, дочь Сиона, навела на себя всё это, ГОСПОДА, Бога своего, оставив, тогда как Он вел тебя по прямой дороге?

17 Behold, such shall be done unto you, because you have forsaken the LORD your God, at a time when he led you in his way.

18 Так зачем ты идешь в Египет — испить ли воды из Нила? И зачем ты идешь в Ассирию — испить ли воды из Евфрата?

18 And now, why is it that you go in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? And why is it that you go in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river (Euphrates)?

19 Накажет тебя твое злодеяние, обернется против тебя вероломство. Посмотри и опомнись: горько и пагубно для тебя оставлять ГОСПОДА, Бога твоего. Но нет у тебя трепета передо Мной», — это слово Владыки, ГОСПОДА Воинств.

19 Your own evil shall chastise you, and your repentance shall reprove .you; know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, for you have forsaken the LORD your God, and you have not revered me, says the LORD God of hosts.

20 «Давно Я сломал твое ярмо, разорвал постромки твоей упряжи. Ты обещала: „Не буду служить идолам“. А на каждом высоком холме и под каждым раскидистым деревом ты блудила, склоняясь перед идолами!

20 For of old time I have broken your yoke and cut your bands; and you said, I shall never serve another god again; and behold, now upon every high hill and under every green tree you wander, playing the harlot.

21 Я растил тебя, как лучший виноградник, от самого чистого семени. Так как же ты выродилась в дикий побег чужой лозы?

21 Yet I had planted you a good vine, wholly a right seed; why then have you turned against me and have become degenerate like a plant of a strange vine?

22 Сколько бы ты ни отмывалась мылом, сколько бы ни изводила щёлока, так и останешься нечистой в грехах своих пред очами Моими, — так говорит Владыка ГОСПОДЬ. —

23 Как же можешь ты возражать: „Не осквернена я, не бегала за ваалами“? Оглянись на поступки свои в долине, пойми же, что ты творила, молодая резвая верблюдица, что кидается из стороны в сторону,

23 How can you say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baal? See your ways in the valleys, and know what you have done: you have lifted up your voice, O you perverse in her ways;

24 дикая ослица, выросшая в пустыне, что принюхивается вожделенно, чтоб учуять самца. Кто укротит ее страсть в пору случки? Всякий, кто ее пожелает, найдет ее без труда.

24 You are like a wild ass which is untrained in the wilderness and follows her own will; you have snuffed up the wind, who can bring you back? Whoever seeks her shall weary himself, he shall find her only by means of her footprints.

25 Остановись, пока обувь твоя не износилась, а горло от жажды не пересохло! Но ты упираешься, говоришь: „Мне милы чужеземцы, я за ними пойду“.

25 Your feet are weary because they are unshod, and your throat is dry from thirst; but you said, I have become strong, I am unwilling to repent because I have loved strangers, and after them I will go.

26 Как опозорен бывает вор, которого ловят с поличным, так опозорен род Израилев, все они: его цари, знать, священники и пророки —

26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so the children of Israel are ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,

27 все они говорят деревянному идолу: „Ты отец наш“, а каменного истукана родителем своим называют. Ко Мне же поворачиваются спиной, а не лицом. А во время бедствия будут взывать: „Теперь же, немедленно нас спаси!“

27 Who say to a piece of wood, You are our father; and to a stone, You have brought us forth; for they have turned their backs upon me and not their faces; but in the time of their trouble, they say, Arise and save us.

28 А где же твои боги, которых ты себе сделала? Пусть они встанут, если в силах тебя спасти, когда беда случится. Ведь у тебя, Иудея, сколько городов, столько и богов».

28 But where are your gods that you have made for yourself? Let them arise and save you in the time of your trouble; for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

29 «Стоит ли вам судиться со Мной? Вы все восстали против Меня, — говорит ГОСПОДЬ. —

29 Why then do you contend with me? You all have transgressed against me, says the LORD.

30 Напрасно наказывал Я детей ваших — не приняли они Моего вразумления. Ваши мечи истребляли пророков, словно хищные львы».

30 In vain have I smitten your children; they have received no discipline; the sword has devoured your prophets like a destroying lion.

31 Все ныне живущие внемлите тому, что говорит ГОСПОДЬ: «Был ли Я пустыней для Израиля, страной кромешного мрака? Почему же народ Мой говорит: „Мы свободны идти, куда захотим, но к Тебе мы больше не вернемся“?

31 As for you, O generation, hear the word of the LORD. Have I been like a wilderness to Israel? Or a waste land? Wherefore then say my people, We are humiliated; we will come no more to you?

32 Может ли девушка забыть свои украшения или невеста — свои наряды? А народ Мой забыл Меня — и не вспоминает который год!

32 Can a maid forget her ornaments or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

33 Как искусна ты в поисках любовников, даже падшую женщину тебе есть чему поучить!

34 Твоя одежда запятнана кровью бедных людей и невинных, ни в каких преступлениях не уличенных. И, несмотря на это,

35 ты смеешь говорить: „Невинна я, потому и гнев Его меня миновал“. Я взыщу с тебя на суде за то, что ты говоришь: „Я нисколько не согрешила“».

36 Отчего так легковесна ты, выбирая, куда идти? Разочарует тебя Египет, как это было однажды с Ассирией.

36 Why do you gad about so much to change your ways? You shall also be ashamed of Egypt, even as you were ashamed of Assyria.

37 Побежишь оттуда, схватившись за голову, потому что ГОСПОДЬ отверг тех, на кого ты уповала, не видать тебе с ними успеха.

37 Yea, you shall go forth from him humiliated; for the LORD is angry against those upon whom you have put your trust, and you shall not prosper with them.
