Глава 20

1 И собрались все сыны Израиля, и предстали пред Господом в городе Мицфа. Люди пришли со всего Израиля: от Дана до Вирсавии. Даже из Галаадской земли пришёл израильский народ.

2 Вожди всех израильских колен собрались там. Они заняли свои места на этом собрании народа Божьего. И было там четыреста тысяч воинов, вооружённых мечами.

3 Народ Вениамина услышал, что народ Израиля собрался вместе в Мицфе. Израильтяне сказали: «Скажите нам, как произошло это зло».

4 Левит, муж этой убитой женщины, рассказал им: «Я со своей наложницей пришёл в Гиву Вениаминову, чтобы переночевать там.

5 Но среди ночи жители Гивы подошли к дому, в котором я находился, окружили его и хотели меня убить. Они изнасиловали мою наложницу, и она умерла.

6 Я разрезал её тело и разослал его по одной части во все районы земли, которую мы получили. Я сделал это потому, что люди Вениамина совершили такое зло в Израиле.

7 Теперь вы, сыны Израиля, обсудите это дело и решите, как нам следует поступить».

8 И встали люди, и сказали все в один голос: «Никто из нас не пойдёт домой. Ни один из нас не вернётся в свой дом.

9 Вот что мы сделаем теперь с Гивой: мы бросим жребий, и пусть Бог покажет нам, какое из семейств первым начнёт атаку.

10 Мы отберём по десять человек из ста от каждого израильского колена и по сто человек из каждой тысячи, и по тысяче человек из каждых десяти тысяч. Эти люди, которых мы отберём, достанут продовольствие для армии, которая пойдёт в Гиву Вениаминову, и накажет этих людей за совершённое ими зло, когда они находились среди израильского народа».

11 Все израильтяне собрались возле Гивы и все они были согласны с тем, что было необходимо сделать.

12 Они отправили человека с посланием к народу Вениамина. Вот это послание: «Какой ужасный поступок совершили некоторые из ваших мужчин!

13 Выдайте нам из Гивы этих развращённых людей. Мы убьём их и таким образом искореним зло из Израиля». Но народ Вениамина не хотел послушать голоса своих братьев, сынов Израиля.

14 Они оставили свои города и собрались в Гиве, чтобы сразиться с остальным народом Израиля.

15 И насчиталось среди народа Вениамина двадцать шесть тысяч воинов, готовых к битве. Кроме того, из жителей Гивы насчиталось семьсот воинов, подготовленных к войне.

16 И было среди них семьсот отборных воинов, которые были левшами. Каждый из них мог пользоваться пращой с великим мастерством. Они могли при помощи пращи бросать камни с точностью до волоска и никогда не промахивались!

17 Израильтян же, кроме людей Вениамина, собралось четыреста тысяч человек. Они были вооружены мечами, и каждый из них был хорошим воином.

18 Народ Израиля пришёл в Вефиль и спросил у Бога: «Кто из нас первым атакует людей Вениамина?» Господь ответил: «Народ Иуды пойдёт первым».

19 На следующее утро израильтяне встали и разбили лагерь возле города Гива.

20 Они вышли против армии Вениамина и подготовились к битве у Гивы.

21 Тогда народ Вениамина вышел из Гивы на битву, и убили они в тот день двадцать две тысячи израильтян.

22 Затем сыновья Израиля пошли и плакали перед Господом до вечера. Они спрашивали у Господа: «Должны ли мы ещё раз сразиться с сынами Вениамина? Они наши родственники». Господь ответил: «Идите и сразитесь с ними». И ободрились израильтяне, и снова, как и в первый день, вышли на битву.

24 Армия израильтян подступила к армии Вениамина. Это был второй день битвы.

25 На второй день сыны Вениамина вышли из Гивы против них и в этот раз убили восемнадцать тысяч хорошо подготовленных к войне израильских солдат.

26 Тогда весь израильский народ пришёл в город Вефиль, и, сидя там, люди плакали перед Господом, и постились целый день до вечера. Они также принесли жертвы всесожжения и содружества перед Господом.

27 В то время ковчег Соглашения Божьего находился в Вефиле.

28 Жрецом там был Финеес, сын Елеазара. Елеазар же был сыном Аарона. И спросил народ израильский у Господа через Финееса: «Сыны Вениамина — наши родственники. Так должны ли мы снова выйти и сразиться с ними?» Господь ответил: «Идите. Я завтра помогу вам разбить их».

29 Израильтяне поставили засаду вокруг Гивы,

30 и израильская армия на третий день вышла против этого города, и были они, как и прежде, готовы к битве с народом Вениамина.

31 Армия Вениамина вышла из города и выступила против израильтян. Израильтяне отступили, и люди Вениамина погнались за ними. Так они заставили армию Вениамина отдалиться от города. И стали вениамитяне, как и прежде, убивать израильтян. Они убили около тридцати человек: некоторых из них убили на поле, а некоторых — на дорогах. Одна дорога шла к Вефилю, а другая к Гиве.

32 Сыны Вениамина сказали: «Мы побеждаем, как и прежде!» Израильтяне отступали, но это была хитрость. Они хотели увести армию Вениамина от города и вывести на дороги.

33 Остальные израильтяне вышли оттуда, где прятались, и атаковали в Ваал-Фамаре. Те израильтяне, которые прятались в засаде с западной стороны Гевы, тоже бросились в атаку.

34 Десять тысяч человек, отборных израильских солдат, атаковали Гиву. Сражение было очень жестоким, но народ Вениамина не знал, какая им грозит беда.

35 Господь разбил армию Вениамина перед израильтянами. В этот день израильтяне убили двадцать пять тысяч сто солдат Вениамина, которые были хорошо подготовлены к войне.

36 Люди Вениамина поняли, что они проиграли битву. Армия Израиля отступила потому, что израильтяне надеялись на неожиданную атаку воинов, которые прятались возле Гивы.

37 И те, кто были в засаде, устремились в Гиву и убили своими мечами всех жителей города.

38 У израильтян был договор с людьми, которые были в засаде. Те должны были подать специальный сигнал к нападению. Этим условным знаком должен был быть дым, поднимающийся из города.

42 Они побежали от израильской армии к пустыне, но не могли избежать сражения. Народ Израиля выходил из городов и убивал их.

43 Израильтяне окружили вениамитян и преследовали их до восточной стороны Гивы, не давая им передохнуть.

44 Всего было убито восемнадцать тысяч смелых и сильных воинов из армии Вениамина.

45 Оставшиеся же повернулись и побежали к пустыне, к скале Риммона. Но на дорогах израильтяне убили ещё пять тысяч воинов Вениамина. Они гнались за ними до Гидома и убили там ещё две тысячи человек.

46 Всего в этот день было убито двадцать пять тысяч смелых воинов из армии Вениамина.

47 Но шестьсот вениа митян убежали в пустыню, к скале Риммона, и оставались там четыре месяца.

48 Израильтяне же вернулись на землю Вениамина. Они убивали там людей и скот, уничтожая всё, что находили там, и сжигали там все города.

2 And the chief6438 of all3605 the people,5971 even of all3605 the tribes7626 of Israel,3478 presented themselves3320 in the assembly6951 of the people5971 of God,430 four702 hundred3967 thousand505 footmen376 7273 that drew8025 sword.2719

3 (Now the children1121 of Benjamin1144 heard8085 that3588 the children1121 of Israel3478 were gone up5927 to Mizpeh.)4709 Then said559 the children1121 of Israel,3478 Tell1696 us, how349 was1961 this2063 wickedness?7451

4 And the Levite,376 3881 the husband376 of the woman802 that was slain,7523 answered6030 and said,559 I came935 into Gibeah1390 that834 belongeth to Benjamin,1144 I589 and my concubine,6370 to lodge.3885

5 And the men1167 of Gibeah1390 rose6965 against5921 me, and beset the house round about5437 853 1004 upon5921 me by night,3915 and thought1819 to have slain2026 me: and my concubine6370 have they forced,6031 that she is dead.4191

6 And I took270 my concubine,6370 and cut her in pieces,5408 and sent7971 her throughout all3605 the country7704 of the inheritance5159 of Israel:3478 for3588 they have committed6213 lewdness2154 and folly5039 in Israel.3478

7 Behold,2009 ye are all3605 children1121 of Israel;3478 give3051 here1988 your advice1697 and counsel.6098

8 And all3605 the people5971 arose6965 as one259 man,376 saying,559 We will not3808 any376 of us go1980 to his tent,168 neither3808 will we any376 of us turn5493 into his house.1004

9 But now6258 this2088 shall be the thing1697 which834 we will do6213 to Gibeah;1390 we will go up by lot1486 against5921 it;

10 And we will take3947 ten6235 men376 of a hundred3967 throughout all3605 the tribes7626 of Israel,3478 and a hundred3967 of a thousand,505 and a thousand505 out of ten thousand,7233 to fetch3947 victual6720 for the people,5971 that they may do,6213 when they come935 to Gibeah1387 of Benjamin,1144 according to all3605 the folly5039 that834 they have wrought6213 in Israel.3478

11 So all3605 the men376 of Israel3478 were gathered622 against413 the city,5892 knit together2270 as one259 man.376

12 And the tribes7626 of Israel3478 sent7971 men376 through all3605 the tribe7626 of Benjamin,1144 saying,559 What4100 wickedness7451 is this2063 that834 is done1961 among you?

13 Now6258 therefore deliver5414 us853 the men,376 the children1121 of Belial,1100 which834 are in Gibeah,1390 that we may put them to death,4191 and put away1197 evil7451 from Israel.4480 3478 But the children1121 of Benjamin1144 would14 not3808 hearken8085 to the voice6963 of their brethren251 the children1121 of Israel: 3478

14 But the children1121 of Benjamin1144 gathered themselves together622 out of4480 the cities5892 unto Gibeah,1390 to go out3318 to battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Israel.3478

15 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 were numbered6485 at that1931 time3117 out of the cities4480 5892 twenty6242 and six8337 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 sword,2719 beside905 the inhabitants4480 3427 of Gibeah,1390 which were numbered6485 seven7651 hundred3967 chosen970 men.376

16 Among all4480 3605 this2088 people5971 there were seven7651 hundred3967 chosen977 men376 left-handed;334 3027 3225 every one3605 2088 could sling7049 stones68 at413 a hair8185 breadth, and not3808 miss.2398

17 And the men376 of Israel,3478 beside905 Benjamin,4480 1144 were numbered6485 four702 hundred3967 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 sword:2719 all3605 these2088 were men376 of war.4421

18 And the children1121 of Israel3478 arose,6965 and went up5927 to the house of God,1008 and asked counsel7592 of God,430 and said,559 Which4310 of us shall go up5927 first8462 to the battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Benjamin?1144 And the LORD3068 said,559 Judah3063 shall go up first.8462

19 And the children1121 of Israel3478 rose up6965 in the morning,1242 and encamped2583 against5921 Gibeah.1390

20 And the men376 of Israel3478 went out3318 to battle4421 against5973 Benjamin;1144 and the men376 of Israel3478 put themselves in array6186 to fight4421 against854 them at413 Gibeah.1390

21 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 came forth3318 out of4480 Gibeah,1390 and destroyed down7843 to the ground776 of the Israelites3478 that1931 day3117 twenty6242 and two8147 thousand505 men.376

22 And the people5971 the men376 of Israel3478 encouraged themselves,2388 and set6186 their battle4421 again3254 in array6186 in the place4725 where834 8033 they put themselves in array6186 the first7223 day.3117

23 (And the children1121 of Israel3478 went up5927 and wept1058 before6440 the LORD3068 until5704 even,6153 and asked counsel7592 of the LORD,3068 saying,559 Shall I go up5066 again3254 to battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 my brother?251 And the LORD3068 said,559 Go up5927 against413 him.)

24 And the children1121 of Israel3478 came near7126 against413 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 the second8145 day.3117

25 And Benjamin1144 went forth3318 against7125 them out of4480 Gibeah1390 the second8145 day,3117 and destroyed7843 down to the ground776 of the children1121 of Israel3478 again5750 eighteen8083 6240 thousand505 men;376 all3605 these428 drew8025 the sword.2719

26 Then all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and all3605 the people,5971 went up,5927 and came935 unto the house of God,1008 and wept,1058 and sat3427 there8033 before6440 the LORD,3068 and fasted6684 that1931 day3117 until5704 even,6153 and offered5927 burnt offerings5930 and peace offerings8002 before6440 the LORD.3068

27 And the children1121 of Israel3478 inquired7592 of the LORD,3068 (for the ark727 of the covenant1285 of God430 was there8033 in those1992 days,3117

28 And Phinehas,6372 the son1121 of Eleazar,499 the son1121 of Aaron,175 stood5975 before6440 it in those1992 days,)3117 saying,559 Shall I yet5750 again3254 go out3318 to battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 my brother,251 or518 shall I cease?2308 And the LORD3068 said,559 Go up;5927 for3588 tomorrow4279 I will deliver5414 them into thine hand.3027

29 And Israel3478 set7760 liers in wait693 round about5439 413 Gibeah.1390

30 And the children1121 of Israel3478 went up5927 against413 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 on the third7992 day,3117 and put themselves in array6186 against413 Gibeah,1390 as at other times.6471 6471

31 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 went out3318 against7125 the people,5971 and were drawn away5423 from4480 the city;5892 and they began2490 to smite5221 of the people,4480 5971 and kill,2491 as at other times,6471 6471 in the highways,4546 of which834 one259 goeth up5927 to the house of God,1008 and the other259 to Gibeah1390 in the field,7704 about thirty7970 men376 of Israel.3478

32 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 said,559 They1992 are smitten down5062 before6440 us, as at the first.7223 But the children1121 of Israel3478 said,559 Let us flee,5127 and draw5423 them from4480 the city5892 unto413 the highways.4546

33 And all3605 the men376 of Israel3478 rose up6965 out of their place,4480 4725 and put themselves in array6186 at Baal-tamar:1193 and the liers in wait693 of Israel3478 came forth1518 out of their places,4480 4725 even out of the meadows4480 4629 of Gibeah.4480 1390

34 And there came935 against4480 5048 Gibeah1390 ten6235 thousand505 chosen977 men376 out of all4480 3605 Israel,3478 and the battle4421 was sore:3513 but they1992 knew3045 not3808 that3588 evil7451 was near5060 them.

35 And the LORD3068 smote5062 853 Benjamin1144 before6440 Israel:3478 and the children1121 of Israel3478 destroyed7843 of the Benjamites1144 that1931 day3117 twenty6242 and five2568 thousand505 and a hundred3967 men:376 all3605 these428 drew8025 the sword.2719

36 So the children1121 of Benjamin1144 saw7200 that3588 they were smitten:5062 for the men376 of Israel3478 gave5414 place4725 to the Benjamites,1144 because3588 they trusted982 unto413 the liers in wait693 which834 they had set7760 beside413 Gibeah.1390

37 And the liers in wait693 hasted,2363 and rushed6584 upon413 Gibeah;1390 and the liers in wait693 drew themselves along,4900 and smote5221 853 all3605 the city5892 with the edge6310 of the sword.2719

38 Now there was1961 an appointed sign4150 between the men376 of Israel3478 and the liers in wait,693 that they should make a great7235 flame4864 with smoke6227 rise up5927 out of4480 the city.5892

39 And when the men376 of Israel3478 retired2015 in the battle,4421 Benjamin1144 began2490 to smite5221 and kill2491 of the men376 of Israel3478 about thirty7970 persons:376 for3588 they said,559 Surely389 they1931 are smitten down5062 5062 before6440 us, as in the first7223 battle.4421

40 But when the flame4864 began2490 to arise up5927 out of4480 the city5892 with a pillar5982 of smoke,6227 the Benjamites1144 looked6437 behind310 them, and, behold,2009 the flame3632 of the city5892 ascended up5927 to heaven.8064

41 And when the men376 of Israel3478 turned again,2015 the men376 of Benjamin1144 were amazed:926 for3588 they saw7200 that3588 evil7451 was come5060 upon5921 them.

42 Therefore they turned6437 their backs before6440 the men376 of Israel3478 unto413 the way1870 of the wilderness;4057 but the battle4421 overtook1692 them; and them which834 came out of the cities4480 5892 they destroyed7843 in the midst8432 of them.

43 Thus they enclosed the Benjamites round about,3803 853 1144 and chased7291 them, and trod them down1869 with ease4496 over against5704 5227 Gibeah1390 toward the sunrising.4480 4217 8121

44 And there fell5307 of Benjamin4480 1144 eighteen8083 6240 thousand505 men;376 853 all3605 these428 were men376 of valor.2428

45 And they turned6437 and fled5127 toward the wilderness4057 unto413 the rock5553 of Rimmon:7417 and they gleaned5953 of them in the highways4546 five2568 thousand505 men;376 and pursued hard1692 after310 them unto5704 Gidom,1440 and slew5221 two thousand505 men376 of4480 them.

46 So that all3605 which fell5307 that1931 day3117 of Benjamin4480 1144 were1961 twenty6242 and five2568 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 the sword;2719 853 all3605 these428 were men376 of valor.2428

47 But six8337 hundred3967 men376 turned6437 and fled5127 to the wilderness4057 unto413 the rock5553 Rimmon,7417 and abode3427 in the rock5553 Rimmon7417 four702 months.2320

48 And the men376 of Israel3478 turned again7725 upon413 the children1121 of Benjamin,1144 and smote5221 them with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 as well the men4974 of every city,4480 5892 as5704 the beast,929 and all3605 that came to hand:4672 also1571 they set7971 on fire784 all3605 the cities5892 that they came to.4672

14 But the children1121 of Benjamin1144 gathered themselves together622 out of4480 the cities5892 unto Gibeah,1390 to go out3318 to battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Israel.3478

15 И насчиталось среди народа Вениамина двадцать шесть тысяч воинов, готовых к битве. Кроме того, из жителей Гивы насчиталось семьсот воинов, подготовленных к войне.

15 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 were numbered6485 at that1931 time3117 out of the cities4480 5892 twenty6242 and six8337 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 sword,2719 beside905 the inhabitants4480 3427 of Gibeah,1390 which were numbered6485 seven7651 hundred3967 chosen970 men.376

16 И было среди них семьсот отборных воинов, которые были левшами. Каждый из них мог пользоваться пращой с великим мастерством. Они могли при помощи пращи бросать камни с точностью до волоска и никогда не промахивались!

16 Among all4480 3605 this2088 people5971 there were seven7651 hundred3967 chosen977 men376 left-handed;334 3027 3225 every one3605 2088 could sling7049 stones68 at413 a hair8185 breadth, and not3808 miss.2398

17 Израильтян же, кроме людей Вениамина, собралось четыреста тысяч человек. Они были вооружены мечами, и каждый из них был хорошим воином.

17 And the men376 of Israel,3478 beside905 Benjamin,4480 1144 were numbered6485 four702 hundred3967 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 sword:2719 all3605 these2088 were men376 of war.4421

18 Народ Израиля пришёл в Вефиль и спросил у Бога: «Кто из нас первым атакует людей Вениамина?» Господь ответил: «Народ Иуды пойдёт первым».

18 And the children1121 of Israel3478 arose,6965 and went up5927 to the house of God,1008 and asked counsel7592 of God,430 and said,559 Which4310 of us shall go up5927 first8462 to the battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Benjamin?1144 And the LORD3068 said,559 Judah3063 shall go up first.8462

19 На следующее утро израильтяне встали и разбили лагерь возле города Гива.

19 And the children1121 of Israel3478 rose up6965 in the morning,1242 and encamped2583 against5921 Gibeah.1390

20 Они вышли против армии Вениамина и подготовились к битве у Гивы.

20 And the men376 of Israel3478 went out3318 to battle4421 against5973 Benjamin;1144 and the men376 of Israel3478 put themselves in array6186 to fight4421 against854 them at413 Gibeah.1390

21 Тогда народ Вениамина вышел из Гивы на битву, и убили они в тот день двадцать две тысячи израильтян.

21 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 came forth3318 out of4480 Gibeah,1390 and destroyed down7843 to the ground776 of the Israelites3478 that1931 day3117 twenty6242 and two8147 thousand505 men.376

22 Затем сыновья Израиля пошли и плакали перед Господом до вечера. Они спрашивали у Господа: «Должны ли мы ещё раз сразиться с сынами Вениамина? Они наши родственники». Господь ответил: «Идите и сразитесь с ними». И ободрились израильтяне, и снова, как и в первый день, вышли на битву.

22 And the people5971 the men376 of Israel3478 encouraged themselves,2388 and set6186 their battle4421 again3254 in array6186 in the place4725 where834 8033 they put themselves in array6186 the first7223 day.3117

23 (And the children1121 of Israel3478 went up5927 and wept1058 before6440 the LORD3068 until5704 even,6153 and asked counsel7592 of the LORD,3068 saying,559 Shall I go up5066 again3254 to battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 my brother?251 And the LORD3068 said,559 Go up5927 against413 him.)

24 Армия израильтян подступила к армии Вениамина. Это был второй день битвы.

24 And the children1121 of Israel3478 came near7126 against413 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 the second8145 day.3117

25 На второй день сыны Вениамина вышли из Гивы против них и в этот раз убили восемнадцать тысяч хорошо подготовленных к войне израильских солдат.

25 And Benjamin1144 went forth3318 against7125 them out of4480 Gibeah1390 the second8145 day,3117 and destroyed7843 down to the ground776 of the children1121 of Israel3478 again5750 eighteen8083 6240 thousand505 men;376 all3605 these428 drew8025 the sword.2719

26 Тогда весь израильский народ пришёл в город Вефиль, и, сидя там, люди плакали перед Господом, и постились целый день до вечера. Они также принесли жертвы всесожжения и содружества перед Господом.

26 Then all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and all3605 the people,5971 went up,5927 and came935 unto the house of God,1008 and wept,1058 and sat3427 there8033 before6440 the LORD,3068 and fasted6684 that1931 day3117 until5704 even,6153 and offered5927 burnt offerings5930 and peace offerings8002 before6440 the LORD.3068

27 В то время ковчег Соглашения Божьего находился в Вефиле.

27 And the children1121 of Israel3478 inquired7592 of the LORD,3068 (for the ark727 of the covenant1285 of God430 was there8033 in those1992 days,3117

28 Жрецом там был Финеес, сын Елеазара. Елеазар же был сыном Аарона. И спросил народ израильский у Господа через Финееса: «Сыны Вениамина — наши родственники. Так должны ли мы снова выйти и сразиться с ними?» Господь ответил: «Идите. Я завтра помогу вам разбить их».

28 And Phinehas,6372 the son1121 of Eleazar,499 the son1121 of Aaron,175 stood5975 before6440 it in those1992 days,)3117 saying,559 Shall I yet5750 again3254 go out3318 to battle4421 against5973 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 my brother,251 or518 shall I cease?2308 And the LORD3068 said,559 Go up;5927 for3588 tomorrow4279 I will deliver5414 them into thine hand.3027

29 Израильтяне поставили засаду вокруг Гивы,

29 And Israel3478 set7760 liers in wait693 round about5439 413 Gibeah.1390

30 и израильская армия на третий день вышла против этого города, и были они, как и прежде, готовы к битве с народом Вениамина.

30 And the children1121 of Israel3478 went up5927 against413 the children1121 of Benjamin1144 on the third7992 day,3117 and put themselves in array6186 against413 Gibeah,1390 as at other times.6471 6471

31 Армия Вениамина вышла из города и выступила против израильтян. Израильтяне отступили, и люди Вениамина погнались за ними. Так они заставили армию Вениамина отдалиться от города. И стали вениамитяне, как и прежде, убивать израильтян. Они убили около тридцати человек: некоторых из них убили на поле, а некоторых — на дорогах. Одна дорога шла к Вефилю, а другая к Гиве.

31 And the children1121 of Benjamin1144 went out3318 against7125 the people,5971 and were drawn away5423 from4480 the city;5892 and they began2490 to smite5221 of the people,4480 5971 and kill,2491 as at other times,6471 6471 in the highways,4546 of which834 one259 goeth up5927 to the house of God,1008 and the other259 to Gibeah1390 in the field,7704 about thirty7970 men376 of Israel.3478

33 Остальные израильтяне вышли оттуда, где прятались, и атаковали в Ваал-Фамаре. Те израильтяне, которые прятались в засаде с западной стороны Гевы, тоже бросились в атаку.

33 And all3605 the men376 of Israel3478 rose up6965 out of their place,4480 4725 and put themselves in array6186 at Baal-tamar:1193 and the liers in wait693 of Israel3478 came forth1518 out of their places,4480 4725 even out of the meadows4480 4629 of Gibeah.4480 1390

34 Десять тысяч человек, отборных израильских солдат, атаковали Гиву. Сражение было очень жестоким, но народ Вениамина не знал, какая им грозит беда.

34 And there came935 against4480 5048 Gibeah1390 ten6235 thousand505 chosen977 men376 out of all4480 3605 Israel,3478 and the battle4421 was sore:3513 but they1992 knew3045 not3808 that3588 evil7451 was near5060 them.

35 Господь разбил армию Вениамина перед израильтянами. В этот день израильтяне убили двадцать пять тысяч сто солдат Вениамина, которые были хорошо подготовлены к войне.

35 And the LORD3068 smote5062 853 Benjamin1144 before6440 Israel:3478 and the children1121 of Israel3478 destroyed7843 of the Benjamites1144 that1931 day3117 twenty6242 and five2568 thousand505 and a hundred3967 men:376 all3605 these428 drew8025 the sword.2719

36 Люди Вениамина поняли, что они проиграли битву. Армия Израиля отступила потому, что израильтяне надеялись на неожиданную атаку воинов, которые прятались возле Гивы.

36 So the children1121 of Benjamin1144 saw7200 that3588 they were smitten:5062 for the men376 of Israel3478 gave5414 place4725 to the Benjamites,1144 because3588 they trusted982 unto413 the liers in wait693 which834 they had set7760 beside413 Gibeah.1390

37 И те, кто были в засаде, устремились в Гиву и убили своими мечами всех жителей города.

37 And the liers in wait693 hasted,2363 and rushed6584 upon413 Gibeah;1390 and the liers in wait693 drew themselves along,4900 and smote5221 853 all3605 the city5892 with the edge6310 of the sword.2719

38 У израильтян был договор с людьми, которые были в засаде. Те должны были подать специальный сигнал к нападению. Этим условным знаком должен был быть дым, поднимающийся из города.

38 Now there was1961 an appointed sign4150 between the men376 of Israel3478 and the liers in wait,693 that they should make a great7235 flame4864 with smoke6227 rise up5927 out of4480 the city.5892

39 Убив около тридцати израильских солдат, люди Вениамина говорили: «Мы побеждаем, как и прежде». Но вот от города столбом начал подниматься дым. Воины Вениамина оглянулись назад и увидели этот дым, весь город был в огне. Израильтяне перестали отступать, повернулись и стали сражаться. Воины Вениамина оробели, потому что увидели, какая беда постигла их.

39 And when the men376 of Israel3478 retired2015 in the battle,4421 Benjamin1144 began2490 to smite5221 and kill2491 of the men376 of Israel3478 about thirty7970 persons:376 for3588 they said,559 Surely389 they1931 are smitten down5062 5062 before6440 us, as in the first7223 battle.4421

40 But when the flame4864 began2490 to arise up5927 out of4480 the city5892 with a pillar5982 of smoke,6227 the Benjamites1144 looked6437 behind310 them, and, behold,2009 the flame3632 of the city5892 ascended up5927 to heaven.8064

41 And when the men376 of Israel3478 turned again,2015 the men376 of Benjamin1144 were amazed:926 for3588 they saw7200 that3588 evil7451 was come5060 upon5921 them.

42 Они побежали от израильской армии к пустыне, но не могли избежать сражения. Народ Израиля выходил из городов и убивал их.

42 Therefore they turned6437 their backs before6440 the men376 of Israel3478 unto413 the way1870 of the wilderness;4057 but the battle4421 overtook1692 them; and them which834 came out of the cities4480 5892 they destroyed7843 in the midst8432 of them.

43 Израильтяне окружили вениамитян и преследовали их до восточной стороны Гивы, не давая им передохнуть.

43 Thus they enclosed the Benjamites round about,3803 853 1144 and chased7291 them, and trod them down1869 with ease4496 over against5704 5227 Gibeah1390 toward the sunrising.4480 4217 8121

44 Всего было убито восемнадцать тысяч смелых и сильных воинов из армии Вениамина.

44 And there fell5307 of Benjamin4480 1144 eighteen8083 6240 thousand505 men;376 853 all3605 these428 were men376 of valor.2428

45 Оставшиеся же повернулись и побежали к пустыне, к скале Риммона. Но на дорогах израильтяне убили ещё пять тысяч воинов Вениамина. Они гнались за ними до Гидома и убили там ещё две тысячи человек.

45 And they turned6437 and fled5127 toward the wilderness4057 unto413 the rock5553 of Rimmon:7417 and they gleaned5953 of them in the highways4546 five2568 thousand505 men;376 and pursued hard1692 after310 them unto5704 Gidom,1440 and slew5221 two thousand505 men376 of4480 them.

46 Всего в этот день было убито двадцать пять тысяч смелых воинов из армии Вениамина.

46 So that all3605 which fell5307 that1931 day3117 of Benjamin4480 1144 were1961 twenty6242 and five2568 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 the sword;2719 853 all3605 these428 were men376 of valor.2428

47 Но шестьсот вениа митян убежали в пустыню, к скале Риммона, и оставались там четыре месяца.

47 But six8337 hundred3967 men376 turned6437 and fled5127 to the wilderness4057 unto413 the rock5553 Rimmon,7417 and abode3427 in the rock5553 Rimmon7417 four702 months.2320

48 Израильтяне же вернулись на землю Вениамина. Они убивали там людей и скот, уничтожая всё, что находили там, и сжигали там все города.

48 And the men376 of Israel3478 turned again7725 upon413 the children1121 of Benjamin,1144 and smote5221 them with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 as well the men4974 of every city,4480 5892 as5704 the beast,929 and all3605 that came to hand:4672 also1571 they set7971 on fire784 all3605 the cities5892 that they came to.4672
