1 Некоторое время спустя двое слуг фараона пекарь и виночерпий, чем-то провинились перед ним.

2 Царь египетский разгневался на своего пекаря и виночерпия

3 и отправил их в ту самую темницу, где находился Иосиф. Начальник тюрьмы Потифар, командир телохранителей фараона,

4 отдал обоих заключённых Иосифу под надзор, и они некоторое время оставались в тюрьме.

5 Однажды ночью пекарю и виночерпию приснился сон. Каждому из них приснился свой сон, и каждый сон имел своё значение.

6 На следующее утро Иосиф, зайдя к ним, увидел, что они очень встревожены,

7 и спросил: «Почему у вас сегодня такой встревоженный вид?»

8 «Прошлой ночью нам обоим приснились сны, но мы не знаем, как их понять, и здесь нет никого, кто бы мог объяснить их значение», — ответили они. «Только Бог понимает и истолковывает сны, — ответил Иосиф. — Прошу вас, расскажите, что вам приснилось».

9 Виночерпий рассказал Иосифу свой сон: «Мне приснилась виноградная лоза,

10 на ней было три ветви, и я видел, как на них появился цвет, который затем превратился в виноград.

11 У меня же в руках была чаша фараона. Я взял виноград и выдавил сок в эту чашу, а потом отдал её фараону».

12 «Я объясню тебе твой сон, — сказал Иосиф. — Три ветви означают три дня:

13 не пройдёт и трех дней, как фараон помилует тебя и разрешит вернуться на твоё место, и ты будешь исполнять при фараоне ту же службу, что и раньше.

14 Когда будешь свободен, вспомни обо мне, имей снисхождение и помоги мне: расскажи обо мне фараону. Он поможет мне выбраться из этой тюрьмы.

15 Меня похитили из моего дома, из земли моего народа, евреев, я же не сделал ничего плохого, за что следовало бы заключить меня в темницу».

16 Узнав, что сон другого слуги хороший, пекарь сказал Иосифу: «Мне тоже приснился сон: будто на голове у меня три хлебных корзины,

17 в верхней корзине разная выпечка для фараона, но её склевали птицы».

18 «Я объясню тебе, что означает твой сон, — сказал ему Иосиф. — Три корзины означают три дня:

19 не пройдёт и трёх дней, как фараон снимет тебе голову и повесит твой труп на шесте, и птицы будут клевать его!»

20 Три дня спустя у фараона был день рождения, и он устроил празднество для всех своих приближенных, и разрешил виночерпию и пекарю выйти из тюрьмы.

21 Царь египетский освободил виночерпия, вернув его на прежнее место, и виночерпий снова приступил к выполнению своих прежних обязанностей.

22 Пекаря же фараон казнил, и всё случилось так, как сказал Иосиф.

23 Только виночерпий не вспомнил об Иосифе и о своём обещании помочь ему. Виночерпий забыл про Иосифа и ничего не сказал о нём фараону.

Chapter 40

1 AND it came to pass after these things that the chief butler of the king of Egypt and the chief baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

3 And he put them into the prison in the house of the commander of the guard, in the ward where Joseph was bound.

4 And the commander of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; and they remained for some time in the prison.

5 And they both dreamed, each man his own dream in the same night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

6 And Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and behold, they were sad.

7 So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in the prison of his master's house, saying, Why do you look so sad today?

8 And they said to him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it. And Joseph said to them, Behold, the interpretations belong to God; tell them to me.

9 Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

10 And in the vine were three branches; and when it budded, its blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes;

11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hands.

12 And Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of your dream: The three branches are three days;

13 After three days Pharaoh shall remember you and restore you to your position; and you shall give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, as you did before when you were his butler.

14 But remember me when it shall be well with you, and do me a favor and justice, and make mention of me in the presence of Pharaoh, and bring me out of this prison house;

15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews; and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the prison.

16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also saw in my dream, and, behold. I had three baskets containing white bread on my head;

17 And in the uppermost basket there was of every kind of food for Pharaoh, prepared by a baker; and the birds of prey were eating it out of the basket on my head.

18 And Joseph answered and said to him, This is the interpretation of your dream: The three baskets are three days;

19 After three days Pharaoh shall have you beheaded, and then shall crucify you on a tree, and the birds of prey shall eat your flesh from off you.

20 And it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a banquet for all his servants; and he remembered the chief butler and the chief baker among his servants.

21 And he restored the chief butler to his position; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hands:

22 But he crucified the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

1 AND it came to pass after these things that the chief butler of the king of Egypt and the chief baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

3 и отправил их в ту самую темницу, где находился Иосиф. Начальник тюрьмы Потифар, командир телохранителей фараона,

3 And he put them into the prison in the house of the commander of the guard, in the ward where Joseph was bound.

4 отдал обоих заключённых Иосифу под надзор, и они некоторое время оставались в тюрьме.

4 And the commander of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; and they remained for some time in the prison.

5 Однажды ночью пекарю и виночерпию приснился сон. Каждому из них приснился свой сон, и каждый сон имел своё значение.

5 And they both dreamed, each man his own dream in the same night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

6 На следующее утро Иосиф, зайдя к ним, увидел, что они очень встревожены,

6 And Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and behold, they were sad.

7 и спросил: «Почему у вас сегодня такой встревоженный вид?»

7 So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in the prison of his master's house, saying, Why do you look so sad today?

8 «Прошлой ночью нам обоим приснились сны, но мы не знаем, как их понять, и здесь нет никого, кто бы мог объяснить их значение», — ответили они. «Только Бог понимает и истолковывает сны, — ответил Иосиф. — Прошу вас, расскажите, что вам приснилось».

8 And they said to him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it. And Joseph said to them, Behold, the interpretations belong to God; tell them to me.

9 Виночерпий рассказал Иосифу свой сон: «Мне приснилась виноградная лоза,

9 Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

10 на ней было три ветви, и я видел, как на них появился цвет, который затем превратился в виноград.

10 And in the vine were three branches; and when it budded, its blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes;

11 У меня же в руках была чаша фараона. Я взял виноград и выдавил сок в эту чашу, а потом отдал её фараону».

11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hands.

12 «Я объясню тебе твой сон, — сказал Иосиф. — Три ветви означают три дня:

12 And Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of your dream: The three branches are three days;

13 не пройдёт и трех дней, как фараон помилует тебя и разрешит вернуться на твоё место, и ты будешь исполнять при фараоне ту же службу, что и раньше.

13 After three days Pharaoh shall remember you and restore you to your position; and you shall give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, as you did before when you were his butler.

14 Когда будешь свободен, вспомни обо мне, имей снисхождение и помоги мне: расскажи обо мне фараону. Он поможет мне выбраться из этой тюрьмы.

14 But remember me when it shall be well with you, and do me a favor and justice, and make mention of me in the presence of Pharaoh, and bring me out of this prison house;

16 Узнав, что сон другого слуги хороший, пекарь сказал Иосифу: «Мне тоже приснился сон: будто на голове у меня три хлебных корзины,

16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also saw in my dream, and, behold. I had three baskets containing white bread on my head;

20 Три дня спустя у фараона был день рождения, и он устроил празднество для всех своих приближенных, и разрешил виночерпию и пекарю выйти из тюрьмы.

20 And it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a banquet for all his servants; and he remembered the chief butler and the chief baker among his servants.

21 Царь египетский освободил виночерпия, вернув его на прежнее место, и виночерпий снова приступил к выполнению своих прежних обязанностей.

21 And he restored the chief butler to his position; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hands:

22 Пекаря же фараон казнил, и всё случилось так, как сказал Иосиф.

22 But he crucified the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23 Только виночерпий не вспомнил об Иосифе и о своём обещании помочь ему. Виночерпий забыл про Иосифа и ничего не сказал о нём фараону.

23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
