3 и клянись7650 мне Господом,3068 Богом430 неба8064 и Богом430 земли,776 что ты не возьмешь3947 сыну1121 моему жены802 из дочерей1323 Хананеев,3669 среди7130 которых я живу,3427

4 но пойдешь3212 в землю776 мою, на родину4138 мою, и возьмешь3947 жену802 сыну1121 моему Исааку.3327

5 Раб5650 сказал559 ему: может быть, не захочет14 женщина802 идти3212 со мною310 в эту землю,776 должен7725 ли я возвратить7725 сына1121 твоего в землю,776 из которой ты вышел?3318

6 Авраам85 сказал559 ему: берегись,8104 не6435 возвращай7725 сына1121 моего туда;

Chapter 24

1 NOW Abraham was old and well advanced in years; and the LORD had blessed him in all things.

2 And Abraham called his eldest servant, the steward of his house, who was in charge of everything that he had; and he said to him, Put your hand under my girdle;

3 And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take to my son a wife of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

4 But that you will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.

5 And the servant said to him, Suppose the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land; must I then take your son back to the land from whence you came?

6 And Abraham said to him, Beware that you do not take my son thither again.

7 The LORD God of heaven, who took me from thence, from my father's household and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me, and who made a covenant with me, saying, To your descendants will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife to my son from there.

8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath; only you must not take my son there again.

9 So the servant put his hand under the girdle of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.

10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed, carrying with him all kinds of choice things of his master; and he arose, and went to Aram-nahrin (Mesopotamia), to the city of Nahor.

11 And he made his camels to kneel down outside the city by a well of water in the evening, the very time when women go out to draw water.

12 And he prayed, saying, O LORD God of my master Abraham, prosper my journey, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

14 Let it come to pass that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down your pitcher, that I may drink; and she shall say to me, Drink, and I will water your camels also; let the same be she that thou hast selected for thy servant Isaac; and by this token shall I know that thou hast shown kindness and faithfulness to my master.

15 And it came to pass, before he had finished speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.

16 And the damsel was very beautiful to look upon, a virgin whom no man had known; and she went down to the well and filled her pitcher and came up.

17 And the servant ran to meet her and said, Let me drink a little water from your pitcher.

18 And she said, Drink, my lord; and she hastened and let down the pitcher upon her hands and gave him a drink.

19 And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, I will draw water for your camels also, until they are all watered.

20 So she hastened and emptied her pitcher into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew water for all his camels.

21 And as the man watered his camels he scrutinized her, and waited to know whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

22 And it came to pass, when the camels were through drinking, the man took golden earrings weighing a shekel and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels of gold,

23 And said to her, Whose daughter are you? tell me, is there room in your father's house for us to lodge?

24 And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.

25 And she said moreover to him, We have plenty of straw and hay, and room to lodge in.

26 And the man knelt on the ground and worshipped the LORD.

27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who has not withheld his grace and his truth from my master; while I was on the road, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brother, to take his brother's daughter to his son.

28 Then the damsel ran, and related these things to her father's household.

29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban; so Laban ran out to the man, to the well.

30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earrings and the bracelets on his sister's hands and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spoke the man to me, he came to the man; and, behold, he was standing by the camels at the well.

31 And he said to him, Come in, you blessed of the LORD; why do you stand in the street? For I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.

32 So the man came into the house and ungirded the camels and gave straw and hay for the camels, and was given water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

33 And there was set food before them to eat; but Abraham's steward said, I will not eat until I have told my errand. And they said, Speak on.

34 And he said, I am Abraham's servant.

35 And the LORD has blessed my master greatly, so that he has become great; and he has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, and camels and asses.

36 And Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old; and to him he has given all that he has.

37 And my master made me swear, saying, You must not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

38 But you shall go to my father's house and to my kindred, and take a wife to my son.

39 And I said to my master, Suppose the woman will be unwilling to follow me?

40 And he said to me, The LORD before whom I worship will send his angel with you, and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son of my kindred and of my father's house;

41 Then you shall be clear from my oath, when you go to my kindred; and if they do not give you a bride, you shall be clear from my oath.

42 And I came today to the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my mission for which I came,

43 Behold, I am standing by the well of water, and it shall come to pass that when the damsel comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, Let me drink a little water from your pitcher,

44 And she say to me, Drink, and I will also draw for your camels, let the same be the woman whom the LORD has appointed for my master's son.

45 And before I was through speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the fountain, and drew water; and I said to her, Let me drink a little water from your pitcher.

46 And she hastened, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will water your camels also; so I drank, and she watered my camels also.

47 Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter are you? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him; and I put the earrings on her ears and the bracelets on her hands.

48 And I knelt and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to the house of my master's brother to take my master's brother's daughter to his son.

49 And now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me; so that I may know what to do.

50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceeded from the LORD; we cannot say anything to you good or bad.

51 Behold, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has spoken.

52 And it came to pass that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

53 And the servant brought forth jewels of gold and jewels of silver and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave gifts to her brother and to her mother.

54 And he and the men who were with him ate and drank, and spent the night there; and the servant rose up in the morning, and said to them, Send me away to my master.

55 And her brother and her mother said to him, Let the damsel stay with us a month, or at least a few days; and then she shall go.

56 And he said to them, Do not delay me, seeing the LORD has prospered my errand; send me away that I may go to my master.

57 And they said, We will call the damsel, and ask her.

58 So they called Rebekah, and said to her, Will you go with this man? And she said, I will go.

59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse and Abraham's servant and his men.

60 And they blessed Rebekah their sister, and said to her, You are our sister, be the mother of thousands and of millions, and let your descendants inherit the lands of their enemies.

61 Then Rebekah arose with her maids, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man; and the servant took Rebekah and went his way.

62 And Isaac had returned from the well of Khaya-khezan; for he dwelt in the south country.

63 Now Isaac strolled in the field in the evening; and he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, the camels were coming.

64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she leaned over the camel,

65 And she said to the servant, Who is this man who is walking in the field to meet us? And the servant said, It is my master; therefore she took a veil and covered herself.

66 And the servant told Isaac all the things that she had done.

67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

7 The LORD God of heaven, who took me from thence, from my father's household and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me, and who made a covenant with me, saying, To your descendants will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife to my son from there.

11 And he made his camels to kneel down outside the city by a well of water in the evening, the very time when women go out to draw water.

12 и сказал:559 Господи,3068 Боже430 господина113 моего Авраама!85 пошли7136 ее сегодня3117 навстречу3942 мне и сотвори6213 милость2617 с5973 господином113 моим Авраамом;85

12 And he prayed, saying, O LORD God of my master Abraham, prosper my journey, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

13 вот, я стою5324 у источника5869 воды,4325 и дочери1323 жителей582 города5892 выходят3318 черпать7579 воду;4325

13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

14 и девица,5291 которой я скажу:559 «наклони5186 кувшин3537 твой, я напьюсь»,8354 и которая скажет:559 «пей,8354 я и верблюдам1581 твоим дам8248 пить»,8248 — вот та, которую Ты назначил3198 рабу5650 Твоему Исааку;3327 и по сему узнаю3045 я, что Ты творишь6213 милость2617 с господином113 моим.

14 Let it come to pass that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down your pitcher, that I may drink; and she shall say to me, Drink, and I will water your camels also; let the same be she that thou hast selected for thy servant Isaac; and by this token shall I know that thou hast shown kindness and faithfulness to my master.

15 And it came to pass, before he had finished speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.

16 And the damsel was very beautiful to look upon, a virgin whom no man had known; and she went down to the well and filled her pitcher and came up.

17 And the servant ran to meet her and said, Let me drink a little water from your pitcher.

18 Она сказала:559 пей,8354 господин113 мой. И тотчас4116 спустила3381 кувшин3537 свой на руку3027 свою и напоила8248 его.

18 And she said, Drink, my lord; and she hastened and let down the pitcher upon her hands and gave him a drink.

19 И, когда напоила36158248 его, сказала:559 я стану7579 черпать7579 и для верблюдов1581 твоих, пока не напьются.36158354

19 And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, I will draw water for your camels also, until they are all watered.

20 И тотчас4116 вылила6168 воду из кувшина3537 своего в поило8268 и побежала7323 опять к колодезю875 почерпнуть,7579 и начерпала7579 для всех верблюдов1581 его.

20 So she hastened and emptied her pitcher into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew water for all his camels.

21 Человек376 тот смотрел7583 на нее с изумлением7583 в молчании,2790 желая уразуметь,3045 благословил6743 ли Господь3068 путь1870 его, или518 нет.518

21 And as the man watered his camels he scrutinized her, and waited to know whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

22 Когда верблюды1581 перестали3615 пить,8354 тогда человек376 тот взял3947 золотую2091 серьгу,5141 весом4948 полсикля,1235 и два8147 запястья6781 на руки3027 ей, весом4948 в десять6235 сиклей золота;2091

22 And it came to pass, when the camels were through drinking, the man took golden earrings weighing a shekel and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels of gold,

23 И сказал:559 чья4310 ты859 дочь?1323 скажи5046 мне, есть3426 ли в доме1004 отца1 твоего место4725 нам ночевать?3885

23 And said to her, Whose daughter are you? tell me, is there room in your father's house for us to lodge?

24 Она сказала559 ему: я дочь1323 Вафуила,1328 сына1121 Милки,4435 которого она родила3205 Нахору.5152

24 And she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.

25 И еще сказала559 ему: у нас много7227 соломы8401 и1571 корму,4554 и1571 есть место4725 для ночлега.3885

25 And she said moreover to him, We have plenty of straw and hay, and room to lodge in.

26 И преклонился6915 человек376 тот и поклонился7812 Господу,3068

26 And the man knelt on the ground and worshipped the LORD.

27 и сказал:559 благословен1288 Господь3068 Бог430 господина113 моего Авраама,85 Который не оставил58005973 господина113 моего милостью2617 Своею и истиною571 Своею! Господь3068 прямым путем1870 привел5148 меня к дому1004 брата251 господина113 моего.

27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who has not withheld his grace and his truth from my master; while I was on the road, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brother, to take his brother's daughter to his son.

28 Then the damsel ran, and related these things to her father's household.

29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban; so Laban ran out to the man, to the well.

30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earrings and the bracelets on his sister's hands and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spoke the man to me, he came to the man; and, behold, he was standing by the camels at the well.

31 и сказал:559 войди,935 благословенный1288 Господом;3068 зачем ты стоишь5975 вне?2351 я приготовил6437 дом1004 и место4725 для верблюдов.1581

31 And he said to him, Come in, you blessed of the LORD; why do you stand in the street? For I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.

32 И вошел935 человек.376 Лаван расседлал6605 верблюдов1581 и дал5414 соломы8401 и корму4554 верблюдам,1581 и воды4325 умыть7364 ноги7272 ему и людям,582 которые были с ним;

32 So the man came into the house and ungirded the camels and gave straw and hay for the camels, and was given water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

33 и предложена77603455 была ему пища;398 но он сказал:559 не стану398 есть,398 доколе не скажу1696 дела1697 своего. И сказали:559 говори.1696

33 And there was set food before them to eat; but Abraham's steward said, I will not eat until I have told my errand. And they said, Speak on.

34 Он сказал:559 я раб5650 Авраамов;85

34 And he said, I am Abraham's servant.

35 Господь3068 весьма3966 благословил1288 господина113 моего, и он сделался1431 великим:1431 Он дал5414 ему овец6629 и волов,1241 серебро3701 и золото,2091 рабов5650 и рабынь,8198 верблюдов1581 и ослов;2543

35 And the LORD has blessed my master greatly, so that he has become great; and he has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, and camels and asses.

36 Сарра,8283 жена802 господина113 моего, уже310 состарившись,2209 родила3205 господину113 моему сына,1121 которому он отдал5414 все, что у него;

36 And Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old; and to him he has given all that he has.

37 и взял7650 с меня клятву7650 господин113 мой, сказав:559 не бери3947 жены802 сыну1121 моему из дочерей1323 Хананеев,3669 в земле776 которых я живу,3427

37 And my master made me swear, saying, You must not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

38 а518 пойди3212 в дом1004 отца1 моего и к родственникам4940 моим, и возьмешь3947 жену802 сыну1121 моему.

38 But you shall go to my father's house and to my kindred, and take a wife to my son.

39 Я сказал559 господину113 моему: может быть, не пойдет3212310 женщина802 со мною.

39 And I said to my master, Suppose the woman will be unwilling to follow me?

40 Он сказал559 мне: Господь,3068 пред3942 лицем3942 Которого я хожу,1980 пошлет7971 с тобою Ангела4397 Своего и благоустроит6743 путь1870 твой, и возьмешь3947 жену802 сыну1121 моему из родных4940 моих и из дома1004 отца1 моего;

40 And he said to me, The LORD before whom I worship will send his angel with you, and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son of my kindred and of my father's house;

41 тогда будешь5352 ты свободен5352 от клятвы423 моей, когда сходишь935 к родственникам4940 моим; и если они не дадут5414 тебе, то будешь свободен5355 от клятвы423 моей.

41 Then you shall be clear from my oath, when you go to my kindred; and if they do not give you a bride, you shall be clear from my oath.

42 И пришел935 я ныне3117 к источнику,5869 и сказал:559 Господи,3068 Боже430 господина113 моего Авраама!85 Если Ты благоустроишь6743 путь,1870 который я совершаю,1980

42 And I came today to the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my mission for which I came,

43 то вот, я стою5324 у источника5869 воды,4325 и девица,5959 которая выйдет3318 почерпать,7579 и которой я скажу:559 дай мне испить8248 немного45924325 из кувшина3537 твоего,

43 Behold, I am standing by the well of water, and it shall come to pass that when the damsel comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, Let me drink a little water from your pitcher,

44 и которая скажет559 мне: «и ты пей,8354 и верблюдам1581 твоим я начерпаю»7579 — вот жена,802 которую Господь3068 назначил3198 сыну1121 господина113 моего.

44 And she say to me, Drink, and I will also draw for your camels, let the same be the woman whom the LORD has appointed for my master's son.

45 Еще не перестал3615 я говорить1696 в уме3820 моем, и вот вышла3318 Ревекка,7259 и кувшин3537 ее на плече7926 ее, и сошла3381 к источнику5869 и почерпнула;7579 и я сказал559 ей: напой8248 меня.

45 And before I was through speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the fountain, and drew water; and I said to her, Let me drink a little water from your pitcher.

46 Она тотчас4116 спустила3381 с себя кувшин3537 свой и сказала:559 пей,8354 и верблюдов1581 твоих я напою.8248 И я пил,8354 и верблюдов1581 она напоила.8248

46 And she hastened, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will water your camels also; so I drank, and she watered my camels also.

47 Я спросил7592 ее и сказал:559 чья ты дочь?1323 Она сказала:559 дочь1323 Вафуила,1328 сына1121 Нахорова,5152 которого родила3205 ему Милка.4435 И дал7760 я серьги5141 ей639 и запястья6781 на руки3027 ее.

47 Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter are you? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him; and I put the earrings on her ears and the bracelets on her hands.

48 И преклонился6915 я и поклонился7812 Господу,3068 и благословил1288 Господа,3068 Бога430 господина113 моего Авраама,85 Который прямым571 путем1870 привел5148 меня, чтобы взять3947 дочь1323 брата251 господина113 моего за сына1121 его.

48 And I knelt and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to the house of my master's brother to take my master's brother's daughter to his son.

49 И ныне скажите5046 мне: намерены3426 ли вы оказать6213 милость2617 и правду571 господину113 моему или нет? скажите5046 мне, и я обращусь6437 направо,3225 или176 налево.8040

49 And now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me; so that I may know what to do.

50 И отвечали6030 Лаван3837 и Вафуил1328 и сказали:559 от Господа3068 пришло3318 это дело;1697 мы не можем3201 сказать1696 тебе вопреки ни худого,7451 ни176 доброго;2896

50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceeded from the LORD; we cannot say anything to you good or bad.

51 вот Ревекка7259 пред3942 тобою; возьми3947 и пойди;3212 пусть будет она женою802 сыну1121 господина113 твоего, как сказал1696 Господь.3068

51 Behold, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has spoken.

52 Когда раб5650 Авраамов85 услышал8085 слова1697 их, то поклонился7812 Господу3068 до земли.776

52 And it came to pass that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

53 И вынул3318 раб5650 серебряные3701 вещи3627 и золотые2091 вещи3627 и одежды899 и дал5414 Ревекке;7259 также и брату251 ее и матери517 ее дал5414 богатые подарки.4030

53 And the servant brought forth jewels of gold and jewels of silver and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave gifts to her brother and to her mother.

54 И ели398 и пили8354 он и люди,582 бывшие с ним, и переночевали.3885 Когда же встали6965 поутру,1242 то он сказал:559 отпустите7971 меня к господину113 моему.

54 And he and the men who were with him ate and drank, and spent the night there; and the servant rose up in the morning, and said to them, Send me away to my master.

55 Но брат251 ее и мать517 ее сказали:559 пусть побудет3427 с нами девица5291 дней3117 хотя176 десять,6218 потом310 пойдешь.3212

55 And her brother and her mother said to him, Let the damsel stay with us a month, or at least a few days; and then she shall go.

56 Он сказал559 им: не удерживайте309 меня, ибо Господь3068 благоустроил6743 путь1870 мой; отпустите7971 меня, и я пойду3212 к господину113 моему.

56 And he said to them, Do not delay me, seeing the LORD has prospered my errand; send me away that I may go to my master.

57 Они сказали:559 призовем7121 девицу5291 и спросим,7592 что она скажет.6310

57 And they said, We will call the damsel, and ask her.

58 И призвали7121 Ревекку7259 и сказали559 ей: пойдешь3212 ли с этим человеком?376 Она сказала:559 пойду.3212

58 So they called Rebekah, and said to her, Will you go with this man? And she said, I will go.

59 И отпустили7971 Ревекку,7259 сестру269 свою, и кормилицу3243 ее, и раба5650 Авраамова,85 и людей582 его.

59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse and Abraham's servant and his men.

60 И благословили1288 Ревекку7259 и сказали559 ей: сестра269 наша! да родятся1961 от тебя тысячи505 тысяч,7233 и да владеет3423 потомство2233 твое жилищами8179 врагов8130 твоих!

60 And they blessed Rebekah their sister, and said to her, You are our sister, be the mother of thousands and of millions, and let your descendants inherit the lands of their enemies.

61 И встала6965 Ревекка7259 и служанки5291 ее, и сели7392 на верблюдов,1581 и поехали3212310 за тем человеком.376 И раб5650 взял3947 Ревекку7259 и пошел.3212

61 Then Rebekah arose with her maids, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man; and the servant took Rebekah and went his way.

62 А Исаак3327 пришел935 из Беэр-лахай-рои,883 ибо жил3427 он в земле776 полуденной.5045

62 And Isaac had returned from the well of Khaya-khezan; for he dwelt in the south country.

63 При наступлении6437 вечера6153 Исаак3327 вышел3318 в поле7704 поразмыслить,7742 и возвел5375 очи5869 свои, и увидел:7200 вот, идут935 верблюды.1581

63 Now Isaac strolled in the field in the evening; and he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, the camels were coming.

64 Ревекка7259 взглянула,53755869 и увидела7200 Исаака,3327 и спустилась5307 с5921 верблюда.1581

64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she leaned over the camel,

65 И сказала559 рабу:5650 кто4310 этот1976 человек,376 который идет1980 по полю7704 навстречу7125 нам? Раб5650 сказал:559 это господин113 мой. И она взяла3947 покрывало6809 и покрылась.3680

65 And she said to the servant, Who is this man who is walking in the field to meet us? And the servant said, It is my master; therefore she took a veil and covered herself.

66 Раб5650 же сказал5608 Исааку3327 все,1697 что сделал.6213

66 And the servant told Isaac all the things that she had done.

67 И ввел935 ее Исаак3327 в шатер168 Сарры,8283 матери517 своей, и взял3947 Ревекку,7259 и она сделалась ему женою,802 и он возлюбил157 ее; и утешился5162 Исаак3327 в печали по310 матери517 своей.

67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
