1 И отвечал6030 Елифаз464 Феманитянин8489 и сказал:559

2 если попытаемся5254 мы сказать к тебе слово,1697 — не тяжело3811 ли будет3811 тебе? Впрочем кто может3201 возбранить6113 слову!4405

3 Вот, ты наставлял3256 многих7227 и опустившиеся7504 руки3027 поддерживал,2388

4 падающего3782 восставляли6965 слова4405 твои, и гнущиеся3766 колени1290 ты укреплял.553

5 А теперь дошло935 до тебя, и ты изнемог;3811 коснулось5060 тебя, и ты упал926 духом.926

6 Богобоязненность3374 твоя не должна ли быть твоею надеждою,3690 и непорочность8537 путей1870 твоих — упованием8615 твоим?

7 Вспомни2142 же, погибал6 ли кто невинный,5355 и где375 праведные3477 бывали3582 искореняемы?3582

8 Как я видал,7200 то оравшие2790 нечестие205 и сеявшие2232 зло5999 пожинают7114 его;

9 от дуновения5397 Божия433 погибают6 и от духа7307 гнева639 Его исчезают.3615

10 Рев7581 льва738 и голос6963 рыкающего7826 умолкает, и зубы8127 скимнов3715 сокрушаются;5421

11 могучий лев3918 погибает6 без1097 добычи,2964 и дети1121 львицы3833 рассеиваются.6504

12 И вот, ко мне тайно1589 принеслось1589 слово,1697 и ухо241 мое приняло3947 нечто8102 от него.

13 Среди размышлений5587 о ночных3915 видениях,2384 когда сон8639 находит5307 на людей,582

14 объял7122 меня ужас6343 и трепет7461 и потряс6342 все7230 кости6106 мои.

15 И дух7307 прошел2498 надо мною; дыбом5568 стали5568 волосы8185 на мне.

16 Он стал,5975 — но я не распознал5234 вида4758 его, — только облик8544 был пред глазами5869 моими; тихое1827 веяние, — и я слышу8085 голос:6963

17 человек582 праведнее6663 ли Бога?433 и муж1397 чище2891 ли Творца6213 своего?

18 Вот, Он и слугам5650 Своим не доверяет539 и в Ангелах4397 Своих усматривает7760 недостатки:8417

19 тем637 более637 — в обитающих7931 в храминах1004 из брения,2563 которых основание3247 прах,6083 которые истребляются1792 скорее3942 моли.6211

20 Между утром1242 и вечером6153 они распадаются;3807 не увидишь,7760 как они вовсе5331 исчезнут.6

21 Не погибают5265 ли с ними и достоинства3499 их? Они умирают,4191 не достигнув мудрости.2451

Chapter 4

1 THEN Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2 If I venture to speak with you, will you be wearied? But who can restrain himself from speaking with you?

3 Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.

4 Your words have upheld the weak, and you have strengthened the feeble knees.

5 But now because misfortune has come upon you, and you are weary; it touches you, and you are terrified.

6 Behold, your fear is to be blamed, and your trust in the integrity of your way.

7 Remember, I pray you, whoever perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright ever put to shame?

8 As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble, reap the same.

9 By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.

10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the young lion are silenced, and the teeth of the lions are broken.

11 The lion perishes for the lack of prey, and the whelps of the lioness are scattered.

12 Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and my ear received a little of it.

13 In silence, in a night vision, when deep sleep falls on men,

14 Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.

15 Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:

16 Then I arose, but I could not discern its meaning; there was no form before my eyes, but I heard a gentle voice, saying,

17 Shall mortal man be declared more righteous than God? Shall he be more pure than his Maker?

18 Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his messengers he struck with amazement;

19 Even those who dwell in decorated houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, shall be humbled before the thick darkness.

20 They shall be afflicted from morning to evening, that they may not dwell for ever; yea, they shall perish.

21 Behold, their possessions are taken away from them; and the rest of them shall die without wisdom.
