Chapter 5

1 Now it came1961 to pass on the third7992 day,3117 that Esther635 put3847 on her royal4438 apparel,3847 and stood5975 in the inner6442 court2691 of the king's4428 house,1004 over5227 against5227 the king's4428 house:1004 and the king4428 sat3427 on his royal4438 throne3678 in the royal4438 house,1004 over5227 against5227 the gate6607 of the house.1004

2 And it was so, when the king4428 saw7200 Esther635 the queen4436 standing5975 in the court,2691 that she obtained5375 favor2580 in his sight:5869 and the king4428 held3447 out to Esther635 the golden2091 scepter8275 that was in his hand.3027 So Esther635 drew near,7126 and touched5060 the top7218 of the scepter.8275

3 Then said559 the king4428 to her, What4100 will you, queen4436 Esther?635 and what4100 is your request?1246 it shall be even given5414 you to the half2677 of the kingdom.4438

4 And Esther635 answered,559 If518 it seem good2895 to the king,4428 let the king4428 and Haman2001 come935 this day3117 to the banquet4960 that I have prepared6213 for him.

5 Then the king4428 said,559 Cause Haman2001 to make haste,4116 that he may do6213 as Esther635 has said.1697 So the king4428 and Haman2001 came935 to the banquet4960 that Esther635 had prepared.6213

6 And the king4428 said559 to Esther635 at the banquet4960 of wine,3196 What4100 is your petition?7596 and it shall be granted5414 you: and what4100 is your request?1246 even to the half2677 of the kingdom4438 it shall be performed.6213

7 Then answered6032 Esther,635 and said,559 My petition7596 and my request1246 is;

8 If518 I have found4672 favor2580 in the sight5869 of the king,4428 and if518 it please2895 the king4428 to grant5414 my petition,7596 and to perform6213 my request,1246 let the king4428 and Haman2001 come935 to the banquet4960 that I shall prepare6213 for them, and I will do6213 to morrow4279 as the king4428 has said.1697

9 Then went3318 Haman2001 forth3318 that day3117 joyful8056 and with a glad2896 heart:3820 but when Haman2001 saw7200 Mordecai4782 in the king's4428 gate,8179 that he stood6965 not up, nor3808 moved2111 for him, he was full4390 of indignation2534 against5921 Mordecai.4782

10 Nevertheless Haman2001 refrained662 himself: and when he came935 home,1004 he sent7971 and called935 for his friends,157 and Zeresh2238 his wife.802

11 And Haman2001 told5608 them of the glory3519 of his riches,6239 and the multitude7230 of his children,1121 and all3605 the things wherein834 the king4428 had promoted1431 him, and how834 he had advanced5375 him above5921 the princes8269 and servants5650 of the king.4428

12 Haman2001 said559 moreover,637 Yes, Esther635 the queen4436 did let no3808 man come935 in with the king4428 to the banquet4960 that she had prepared6213 but myself; and to morrow4279 am I invited7121 to her also1571 with the king.4428

13 Yet all3605 this2088 avails7737 me nothing,369 so6256 long6256 as I see7200 Mordecai4782 the Jew3064 sitting3427 at the king's4428 gate.8179

14 Then said559 Zeresh2238 his wife802 and all3605 his friends157 to him, Let a gallows6086 be made6213 of fifty2572 cubits520 high,1364 and to morrow1242 speak559 you to the king4428 that Mordecai4782 may be hanged8518 thereon:5921 then go935 you in merrily8056 with the king4428 to the banquet.4960 And the thing1697 pleased3190 Haman;2001 and he caused the gallows6086 to be made.6213

1 И вот, на третий день Есфирь надела свои царские одежды и встала во внутреннем дворе дворца, напротив царского тронного зала. Царь сидел на своём троне в зале, лицом ко входу. Когда он увидел стоявшую во дворе царицу Есфирь, он смилостивился над ней

2 и протянул к ней золотой скипетр, который был у него в руке. Есфирь подошла и коснулась конца скипетра.

3 Царь спросил её: – Что тебе, царица Есфирь? О чём ты просишь? Всё тебе будет, даже полцарства.

4 – Если царю угодно, – ответила Есфирь, – то пусть царь вместе с Аманом придут сегодня на пир, который я для него устроила.

5 – Немедленно сходите за Аманом, – сказал царь, – чтобы нам исполнить просьбу Есфири. Так царь с Аманом пошли на пир, который устроила Есфирь.

6 Когда они пили вино, царь спросил у Есфири: – Чего же ты хочешь? Всё тебе будет. Какова твоя просьба? Даже полцарства – всё получишь!

7 Есфирь ответила: – Моё желание и моя просьба таковы:

8 если я нашла у царя расположение, и если царю угодно даровать мне то, чего я хочу, и исполнить мою просьбу, то пусть царь с Аманом придут и завтра на пир, который я для них устрою. Тогда я и отвечу на царский вопрос.

9 Аман вышел в тот день весёлый и в прекрасном настроении. Но увидев у царских ворот Мардохея и заметив, что он не встал и не выказал перед ним страха, он разозлился на него.

10 Однако Аман сдержался и пошёл домой. Собрав вместе своих друзей и свою жену Зерешь,

11 Аман хвастался им своим огромным богатством, множеством сыновей и всеми почестями, которыми удостоил его царь, и тем, как он возвысил его над всеми сановниками и чиновниками.

12 – Но это ещё не всё, – добавил Аман. – Я единственный, кого царица Есфирь пригласила вместе с царём на пир, который она устроила. Она пригласила меня вместе с царём и на завтра.

13 Но меня это не радует, пока я вижу иудея Мардохея, сидящего у царских ворот.

14 Его жена Зерешь и все друзья сказали ему: – Вели построить виселицу высотой в двадцать два метра, . и утром попроси царя, чтобы Мардохея повесили на ней. А потом спокойно иди с царём на пир. Этот совет понравился Аману, и он велел построить виселицу.

4 – Если царю угодно, – ответила Есфирь, – то пусть царь вместе с Аманом придут сегодня на пир, который я для него устроила.

5 Then the king4428 said,559 Cause Haman2001 to make haste,4116 that he may do6213 as Esther635 has said.1697 So the king4428 and Haman2001 came935 to the banquet4960 that Esther635 had prepared.6213

5 – Немедленно сходите за Аманом, – сказал царь, – чтобы нам исполнить просьбу Есфири. Так царь с Аманом пошли на пир, который устроила Есфирь.

7 Есфирь ответила: – Моё желание и моя просьба таковы:

8 If518 I have found4672 favor2580 in the sight5869 of the king,4428 and if518 it please2895 the king4428 to grant5414 my petition,7596 and to perform6213 my request,1246 let the king4428 and Haman2001 come935 to the banquet4960 that I shall prepare6213 for them, and I will do6213 to morrow4279 as the king4428 has said.1697

8 если я нашла у царя расположение, и если царю угодно даровать мне то, чего я хочу, и исполнить мою просьбу, то пусть царь с Аманом придут и завтра на пир, который я для них устрою. Тогда я и отвечу на царский вопрос.

9 Then went3318 Haman2001 forth3318 that day3117 joyful8056 and with a glad2896 heart:3820 but when Haman2001 saw7200 Mordecai4782 in the king's4428 gate,8179 that he stood6965 not up, nor3808 moved2111 for him, he was full4390 of indignation2534 against5921 Mordecai.4782

12 – Но это ещё не всё, – добавил Аман. – Я единственный, кого царица Есфирь пригласила вместе с царём на пир, который она устроила. Она пригласила меня вместе с царём и на завтра.
