Chapter 26

1 And it came to pass1961 in the eleventh6249 6240 year,8141 in the first259 day of the month,2320 that the word1697 of the LORD3068 came1961 unto413 me, saying,559

2 Son1121 of man,120 because that3282 834 Tyrus6865 hath said559 against5921 Jerusalem,3389 Aha,1889 she is broken7665 that was the gates1817 of the people:5971 she is turned5437 unto413 me: I shall be replenished,4390 now she is laid waste: 2717

3 Therefore3651 thus3541 saith559 the Lord136 GOD;3069 Behold,2009 I am against5921 thee, O Tyrus,6865 and will cause many7227 nations1471 to come up5927 against5921 thee, as the sea3220 causeth his waves1530 to come up.5927

4 And they shall destroy7843 the walls2346 of Tyrus,6865 and break down2040 her towers:4026 I will also scrape5500 her dust6083 from4480 her, and make5414 her like the top6706 of a rock.5553

5 It shall be1961 a place for the spreading4894 of nets2764 in the midst8432 of the sea:3220 for3588 I589 have spoken1696 it, saith5002 the Lord136 GOD:3069 and it shall become1961 a spoil957 to the nations.1471

6 And her daughters1323 which834 are in the field7704 shall be slain2026 by the sword;2719 and they shall know3045 that3588 I589 am the LORD.3068

7 For3588 thus3541 saith559 the Lord136 GOD;3069 Behold,2009 I will bring935 upon413 Tyrus6865 Nebuchadnezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon,894 a king4428 of kings,4428 from the north,4480 6828 with horses,5483 and with chariots,7393 and with horsemen,6571 and companies,6951 and much7227 people.5971

8 He shall slay2026 with the sword2719 thy daughters1323 in the field:7704 and he shall make5414 a fort1785 against5921 thee, and cast8210 a mount5550 against5921 thee, and lift up6965 the buckler6793 against5921 thee.

9 And he shall set5414 engines4239 of war6904 against thy walls,2346 and with his axes2719 he shall break down5422 thy towers.4026

10 By reason of the abundance4480 8229 of his horses5483 their dust80 shall cover3680 thee: thy walls2346 shall shake7493 at the noise4480 6963 of the horsemen,6571 and of the wheels,1534 and of the chariots,7393 when he shall enter935 into thy gates,8179 as men enter into3996 a city5892 wherein is made a breach.1234

11 With the hooves6541 of his horses5483 shall he tread down7429 853 all3605 thy streets:2351 he shall slay2026 thy people5971 by the sword,2719 and thy strong5797 garrisons4676 shall go down3381 to the ground.776

12 And they shall make a spoil7997 of thy riches,2428 and make a prey962 of thy merchandise:7404 and they shall break down2040 thy walls,2346 and destroy5422 thy pleasant2532 houses:1004 and they shall lay7760 thy stones68 and thy timber6086 and thy dust6083 in the midst8432 of the water.4325

13 And I will cause the noise1995 of thy songs7892 to cease;7673 and the sound6963 of thy harps3658 shall be no3808 more5750 heard.8085

14 And I will make5414 thee like the top6706 of a rock:5553 thou shalt be1961 a place to spread nets upon;4894 2764 thou shalt be built1129 no3808 more:5750 for3588 I589 the LORD3068 have spoken1696 it, saith5002 the Lord136 GOD.3069

15 Thus3541 saith559 the Lord136 GOD3069 to Tyrus;6865 Shall not3808 the isles339 shake7493 at the sound4480 6963 of thy fall,4658 when the wounded2491 cry,602 when the slaughter2027 is made2026 in the midst8432 of thee?

16 Then all3605 the princes5387 of the sea3220 shall come down3381 from4480 5921 their thrones,3678 and lay away5493 853 their robes,4598 and put off6584 their embroidered7553 garments:899 they shall clothe3847 themselves with trembling;2731 they shall sit3427 upon5921 the ground,776 and shall tremble2729 at every moment,7281 and be astonished8074 at5921 thee.

17 And they shall take up5375 a lamentation7015 for5921 thee, and say559 to thee, How349 art thou destroyed,6 that wast inhabited3427 of seafaring men,4480 3220 the renowned1984 city,5892 which834 wast1961 strong2389 in the sea,3220 she1931 and her inhabitants,3427 which834 cause5414 their terror2851 to be on all3605 that haunt3427 it!

18 Now6258 shall the isles339 tremble2729 in the day3117 of thy fall;4658 yea, the isles339 that834 are in the sea3220 shall be troubled926 at thy departure.4480 3318

19 For3588 thus3541 saith559 the Lord136 GOD;3069 When I shall make5414 thee a desolate2717 city,5892 like the cities5892 that834 are not3808 inhabited;3427 when I shall bring up5927 853 the deep8415 upon5921 thee, and great7227 waters4325 shall cover3680 thee;

20 When I shall bring thee down3381 with854 them that descend3381 into the pit,953 with413 the people5971 of old time,5769 and shall set3427 thee in the low parts8482 of the earth,776 in places desolate2723 of old,4480 5769 with854 them that go down3381 to the pit,953 that4616 thou be not3808 inhabited;3427 and I shall set5414 glory6643 in the land776 of the living;2416

21 I will make5414 thee a terror,1091 and thou shalt be no369 more: though thou be sought for,1245 yet shalt thou never3808 5769 be found4672 again,5750 saith5002 the Lord136 GOD.3069

Chapter 26

1 AND it came to pass in the eleventh year, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2 Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, Aha, the gates of the people are broken; the people have turned to me; I shall be enriched, now that she is destroyed and is laid waste.

3 Therefore thus says the LORD God: Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes its waves to come up.

4 And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre and demolish her towers, and remove the soil from her; and I will make her like a bare rock.

5 It shall be a drying place for nets in the midst of the sea, because I have spoken it, says the LORD God; and it shall become a spoil to the nations.

6 And her daughters who are in the field shall be slain by the sword; they shall know that I am the LORD.

7 For thus says the LORD God: Behold, I will bring upon Tyre Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north with horses and with chariots and with horsemen and a multitude and much people.

8 He shall slay with the sword your daughters who are in the field; and he shall set up forts against you and cast a mount against you and lift up the buckler against you.

9 And he shall strike the sharp points of his spears against your walls, and he shall destroy your towers with his swords.

10 By reason of the abundance of his horses, their dust shall cover you; your walls shall shake at the noise of his horsemen and of the wheels and of the chariots, when he shall enter your gates as men enter into a city in which is made a breach.

11 With the hoofs of his horses he shall tread down all your streets; he shall slay your people by the sword, and your mighty altars shall he demolish to the ground.

12 And his army shall plunder your riches and make a prey of your merchandise; and they shall demolish your walls and destroy your pleasant houses; and they shall cast your stones and your timber and your wealth into the sea.

13 And I will cause the noise of the multitude of your songs to cease; and the sound of your harpers shall be heard no more.

14 And I will make you a bare rock, a drying place for nets; you shall be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, says the LORD God.

15 Thus says the LORD God to Tyre: At the sound of your fall and of the torment of your slain and the slaughter which is made in the midst of you, the islands shall tremble.

16 Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones and lay away their robes and put off their embroidered garments; they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble and become restless, and be astonished at you.

17 And they shall take up lamentations over you, and say to you, How you are destroyed, O you inhabitant of the seas, O fortified city, which was strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, who caused their terror to be on all the inhabitants thereof!

18 Now shall the isles tremble in the day of your fall; yea, the isles that are in the sea shall be troubled in the day of your fall.

19 For thus says the LORD God to Tyre: When I shall make you a desolate city, like the cities theft are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon you, and great waters shall cover you;

20 When I shall bring you down with those who descend into the grave, with the people of old time, and shall set you in the lowest parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with those that go down into the pit, that you be not inhabited; and I will not cause your resurrection in the land of the living:

21 I will give you to destruction, you will be sought for, yet you will not be found again for ever, says the LORD God.

18 Now6258 shall the isles339 tremble2729 in the day3117 of thy fall;4658 yea, the isles339 that834 are in the sea3220 shall be troubled926 at thy departure.4480 3318

18 Now shall the isles tremble in the day of your fall; yea, the isles that are in the sea shall be troubled in the day of your fall.

19 For3588 thus3541 saith559 the Lord136 GOD;3069 When I shall make5414 thee a desolate2717 city,5892 like the cities5892 that834 are not3808 inhabited;3427 when I shall bring up5927 853 the deep8415 upon5921 thee, and great7227 waters4325 shall cover3680 thee;

19 For thus says the LORD God to Tyre: When I shall make you a desolate city, like the cities theft are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon you, and great waters shall cover you;

21 I will make5414 thee a terror,1091 and thou shalt be no369 more: though thou be sought for,1245 yet shalt thou never3808 5769 be found4672 again,5750 saith5002 the Lord136 GOD.3069

21 I will give you to destruction, you will be sought for, yet you will not be found again for ever, says the LORD God.
