Chapter 19

1 THEN Pilate had Jesus scourged.

2 A nd the soldiers wove a crown of thorns, and placed it on his head, and they covered him with purple robes;

3 And they said, Peace be to you, O king of the Jews! and they struck him on his cheeks.

4 Pilate again went outside and said to them, Behold, I bring him outside to you, so that you may know that I find not even one cause against him.

5 So Jesus went outside, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robes. And Pilate said to them, Behold the man!

6 When the high priests and the guards saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him! Pilate said to them, You take him and crucify him; for I find no cause in him.

7 The Jews said to him, We have a law, and according to our law he is guilty of death, because he made himself the Son of God.

8 When Pilate heard this saying, he was the more afraid;

9 So he entered again into the praetorium, and said to Jesus, Where do you come from? But Jesus gave him no answer.

10 Pilate said to him, Will you not speak even to me? Do you not know that I have the authority to release you, and I have the authority to crucify you?

11 Jesus said to him, You would have no authority whatever over me, if it had not been given to you from above; for this reason the sin of him who delivered me to you is greater than yours.

12 And because of this, Pilate wanted to release him; but the Jews cried out, If you release this man you are not a friend of Caesar; for whoever makes himself a king is against Caesar.

13 When Pilate heard this word, he brought Jesus outside; then he sat down on the judgment seat, at a place which is called the Stone Pavement but in Hebrew it is called, Gabbatha.

14 It was Friday of the passover, and it was about six o'clock; and he said to the Jews, Behold your king!

15 But they cried out, Take him away, take him away, crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your king? The high priests said to him, We have no king except Caesar.

16 Then he delivered him to them to crucify him. So they took hold of Jesus and took him out,

17 Carrying his cross, to the place which is called The Skull, but in Hebrew it is called Golgotha;

18 Where they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between.

19 Pilate also wrote on a stone tablet, and placed it on his cross. And the writing was, THIS IS JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

20 And a great many Jews read this tablet, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew* and in Greek and in Roman.

21 The high priests then said to Pilate, Do not write that he is the king of the Jews; but that he said, I am the king of the Jews.

22 Pilate said, What I have written, I have written.

23 Now when the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, a part to each of the soldiers; but his robe was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

24 So they said one to another, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose lot it shall be. And the scripture was fulfilled, which said, They divided my clothes among them, and for my robe they cast lots. These things the soldiers did.

25 Now there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, and Mary of Cleopas, and Mary of Magdala.

26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son!

27 Then he said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that very hour the disciple took her with him.

28 After these things Jesus knew that everything was now accomplished; and that the scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst.

29 Now there was a pitcher full of vinegar placed there; so they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it on the point of a reed, and placed it on his mouth.

30 When Jesus drank the vinegar, he said, It is fulfilled; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31 Now because it was Friday the Jews said, Let not these bodies remain on their crosses because the sabbath is dawning; for that sabbath was a great day. So they besought Pilate to have the legs of those who were crucified broken, and to have them lowered down.

32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first one, and of the other one who was crucified with him.

33 But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was dead already, so they did not break his legs.

34 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

35 And he who saw it testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows well that what he said is true, that you also may believe.

36 For these things happened that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, Not even a bone shall be broken in him;

37 And again another scripture which said, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

38 After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because of fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate granted him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus.

39 And there came also Nicodemus, who at first had come to Jesus by night; and he brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pints.

40 So they took away the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the custom of the Jews in burial.

41 Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no man was yet laid.

42 So they laid Jesus there, because the sabbath was approaching and because the tomb was near.

Kapitel 19

1 Da5119 nahm2983 Pilatus4091 JEsum2424 und3767 geißelte3146 ihn.

2 Und2532 die Kriegsknechte4757 flochten4120 eine Krone4735 von1537 Dornen173 und2532 setzten sie846 auf sein Haupt2776 und legten2007 ihm846 ein Purpurkleid4210 an

3 und2532 sprachen3004: Sei gegrüßet5463, lieber Judenkönig935! und2532 gaben1325 ihm846 Backenstreiche4475.

4 Da ging Pilatus4091 wieder3825 heraus1831 und2532 sprach3004 zu1722 ihnen846: Sehet3767, ich führe71 ihn heraus1854 zu euch5213, daß2443 ihr846 erkennet, daß3754 ich keine3762 Schuld156 an ihm846 finde2147.

5 Also ging JEsus2424 heraus1831 und2532 trug5409 eine Dornenkrone4735 und2532 Purpurkleid4210. Und er846 spricht3004 zu ihnen: Sehet3767, welch ein Mensch444!

6 Da3753 ihn die Hohenpriester749 und2532 die Diener5257 sahen1492, schrieen2905 sie846 und2532 sprachen3004: Kreuzige4717, kreuzige4717! Pilatus4091 spricht3004 zu1722 ihnen846: Nehmet2983 ihr846 ihn hin und1063 kreuziget; denn3767 ich1473 finde2147 keine3756 Schuld156 an ihm846.

7 Die Juden2453 antworteten611 ihm: Wir2249 haben2192 ein Gesetz3551, und2532 nach2596 dem2257 Gesetz3551 soll3784 er846 sterben599; denn3754 er hat4160 sich selbst1438 zu Gottes2316 Sohn gemacht.

8 Da3753 Pilatus4091 das5126 Wort3056 hörete, fürchtete er5399 sich5399 noch mehr3123

9 und2532 ging wieder3825 hinein1525 in1519 das Richthaus4232 und2532 spricht3004 zu JEsu2424: Von wannen bist1488 du4771? Aber1161 JEsus2424 gab1325 ihm846 keine3756 Antwort612.

10 Da sprach3004 Pilatus4091 zu ihm846: Redest du3767 nicht3756 mit mir1698? Weißt1492 du2980 nicht3756, daß3754 ich Macht1849 habe2192, dich4571 zu kreuzigen4717, und2532 Macht1849 habe2192, dich4571 loszugeben630?

11 JEsus2424 antwortete611: Du hättest keine Macht1849 über2596 mich1700, wenn1508 sie dir4671 nicht3756 wäre2258 von oben herab gegeben1325; darum1223, der mich3165 dir4671 überantwortet3860 hat2192, der hat2192 größere3187 Sünde266.

12 Von1537 dem5127 an trachtete Pilatus4091, wie er846 ihn losließe630. Die Juden2453 aber1161 schrieen2896 und2212 sprachen3004: Lässest du diesen5126 los630, so1437 bist1488 du des Kaisers2541 Freund5384 nicht3756; denn wer3956 sich848 zum Könige935 macht4160, der ist630 wider483 den Kaiser.

13 Da3767 Pilatus4091 das5126 Wort3056 hörete, führete er2424 JEsum heraus1854 und2532 setzte sich2523 auf1519 den Richterstuhl an1909 der Stätte5117, die191 da heißt3004 Hochpflaster3038, auf ebräisch aber1161 Gabbatha1042.

14 Es war2258 aber1161 der Rüsttag3904 auf Ostern3957 um5616 die sechste1623 Stunde5610. Und1161 er spricht3004 zu den Juden2453: Sehet2396, das ist2532 euer5216 König935!

15 Sie846 schrieen2905 aber1161: Weg142, weg mit142 dem, kreuzige4717 ihn! Spricht3004 Pilatus4091 zu ihnen846: Soll ich euren5216 König935 kreuzigen4717? Die Hohenpriester749 antworteten611: Wir haben2192 keinen3756 König935 denn1508 den Kaiser2541.

16 Da5119 überantwortete3860 er846 ihn520 ihnen, daß2443 er846 gekreuzigt würde4717. Sie nahmen3880 aber3767 JEsum2424 und1161 führeten ihn hin.

17 Und2532 er trug941 sein Kreuz4716 und ging hinaus1831 zur Stätte5117 die3739 da heißt3004 Schädelstätte2898, welche heißt3004 auf1519 ebräisch Golgatha1115.

18 Allda3699 kreuzigten4717 sie846 ihn und2532 mit3326 ihm846 zwei1417 andere243 zu beiden Seiten, JEsum2424 aber1161 mitten3319 inne.

19 Pilatus4091 aber schrieb1125 eine Überschrift5102 und2532 setzte5087 sie auf1909 das Kreuz4716; und2532 war2258 geschrieben1125: JEsus2424 von Nazareth3480, der Juden2453 König935.

20 Diese5126 Überschrift5102 lasen314 viel4183 Juden2453; denn3767 die Stätte5117 war2258 nahe bei1451 der Stadt4172, da3699 JEsus2424 gekreuziget ist4717. Und3754 es war2258 geschrieben1125 auf ebräische, griechische und2532 lateinische Sprache.

21 Da3767 sprachen3004 die Hohenpriester749 der1565 Juden2453 zu Pilatus4091: Schreibe1125 nicht3361: Der Juden2453 König935; sondern235 daß3754 er gesagt2036 habe: Ich bin1510 der Juden2453 König935.

22 Pilatus4091 antwortete611: Was ich geschrieben1125 habe, das3739 hab‘ ich geschrieben1125.

23 Die Kriegsknechte4757 aber3753, da3767 sie JEsum2424 gekreuziget hatten4717, nahmen2983 sie seine846 Kleider2440 und2532 machten4160 vier5064 Teile3313, einem jeglichen1538 Kriegsknecht4757 ein Teil3313, dazu auch den Rock5509. Der Rock5509 aber1161 war2258 ungenähet, von1537 oben an gewirket durch und2532 durch.

24 Da3767 sprachen3004 sie846 untereinander240: Lasset uns den5101 nicht3361 zerteilen, sondern235 darum3767 losen2975, wes er846 sein2071 soll4160 (auf1909 daß4314 erfüllet würde4137 die3588 Schrift1124, die1438 da, sagt2036: Sie haben1266 meine3450 Kleider2440 unter sich4977 geteilet und2532 haben über4012 meinen3450 Rock2441 das2443 Los2819 geworfen906). Solches taten die Kriegsknechte4757.

25 Es stund aber1161 bei3844 dem3588 Kreuze4716 JEsu2424 seine846 Mutter3384 und2532 seiner Mutter3384 Schwester79 Maria3137, des846 Kleophas2832 Weib, und2532 Maria3137 Magdalena3094.

26 Da nun3767 JEsus2424 seine Mutter3384 sah und2532 den3739 Jünger3101 dabeistehen3936, den er liebhatte25 spricht3004 er zu seiner Mutter3384: Weib1135, siehe2400 das1492 ist dein4675 Sohn!

27 Danach spricht3004 er846 zu1519 dem Jünger3101 siehe2400, das ist deine4675 Mutter3384! Und2532 von575 der1565 Stunde5610 an nahm2983 sie der Jünger3101 zu sich2398.

28 Danach, als JEsus2424 wußte1492, daß5124 schon2235 alles3956 vollbracht war5055, daß3754 die Schrift1124 erfüllet würde5048, spricht3004 er: Mich dürstet1372!

29 Da3767 stund ein Gefäß4632 voll3324 Essigs. Sie846 aber1161 fülleten einen Schwamm4699 mit4130 Essig3690 und2532 legten ihn um4060 einen Ysop und hielten4374 es ihm dar zum Munde4750.

30 Da3753 nun3767 JEsus2424 den Essig3690 genommen2983 hatte5055, sprach2036 er: Es ist vollbracht! Und2532 neigete das Haupt2776 und verschied3860.

31 Die Juden2453 aber2443; dieweil1893 es der1565 Rüsttag3904 war2258 daß3363 nicht2532 die Leichname4983 am1722 Kreuz4716 blieben3306 den Sabbat4521 über1909 (denn3767 desselbigen Sabbats4521 Tag2250 war2258 groß3173), baten2065 sie846 Pilatus4091; daß3363 ihre Beine4628 gebrochen2608, und1063 sie abgenommen würden142.

32 Da3767 kamen2064 die Kriegsknechte4757 und2532 brachen2608 dem3588 ersten die Beine4628 und3303 dem andern243, der mit2532 ihm846 gekreuziget war4413.

33 Als sie846 aber1161 zu1909 JEsu2424 kamen2064, da sie sahen1492, daß5613 er846 schon2235 gestorben2348 war, brachen2608 sie ihm die Beine4628 nicht3756,

34 sondern235 der1520 Kriegsknechte4757 einer öffnete3572 seine846 Seite4125 mit einem Speer3057; und2532 alsbald2117 ging Blut129 und2532 Wasser5204 heraus1831.

35 Und2532 der das2548 gesehen3708 hat, der hat es bezeuget, und2532 sein Zeugnis3141 ist2076 wahr228, und derselbige weiß1492, daß3754 er846 die Wahrheit227 saget3004, auf daß2443 auch ihr3140 glaubet4100.

36 Denn1063 solches5023 ist geschehen1096, daß2443 die Schrift1124 erfüllet würde4137: Ihr846 sollt4937 ihm kein3756 Bein3747 zerbrechen.

37 Und2532 abermal spricht3004 eine andere2087 Schrift1124: Sie werden sehen3700, in1519 welchen3739 sie gestochen haben1574.

38 Danach bat2065 Pilatus4091 Joseph2501 von575 Arimathia707, der ein Jünger3101 JEsu2424 war5607, doch heimlich2928, aus1223 Furcht5401 vor den Juden2453, daß2443 er2532 möchte abnehmen142 den Leichnam4983 JEsu2424. Und1161 Pilatus4091 erlaubte2010 es5023. Da3326 kam2064 er und1161 nahm142 den Leichnam4983 JEsu2424 herab.

39 Es kam2064 aber1161 auch2532 Nikodemus3530, der3588 vormals bei5616 der Nacht3571 zu4314 JEsu2424 kommen2064 war, und2532 brachte5342 Myrrhen und4412 Aloen untereinander3395 bei hundert1540 Pfunden3046.

40 Da3767 nahmen2983 sie846 den Leichnam4983 JEsu2424 und2532 banden1210 ihn in leinene Tücher3608 mit3326 Spezereien759, wie2531 die Juden2453 pflegen1485 zu begraben1779.

41 Es war2258 aber1161 an der3739 Stätte5117, da3699 er gekreuziget ward4717, ein Garten2779 und2532 im1722 Garten2779 ein neu2537 Grab3419, in1722 welches niemand3762 je3764 gelegt5087 war.

42 Daselbst1563 hin legten5087 sie JEsum2424 um1223 des Rüsttages3904 willen der Juden2453, dieweil3754 das Grab3419 nahe1451 war2258.

9 und2532 ging wieder3825 hinein1525 in1519 das Richthaus4232 und2532 spricht3004 zu JEsu2424: Von wannen bist1488 du4771? Aber1161 JEsus2424 gab1325 ihm846 keine3756 Antwort612.

10 Pilate said to him, Will you not speak even to me? Do you not know that I have the authority to release you, and I have the authority to crucify you?

10 Da sprach3004 Pilatus4091 zu ihm846: Redest du3767 nicht3756 mit mir1698? Weißt1492 du2980 nicht3756, daß3754 ich Macht1849 habe2192, dich4571 zu kreuzigen4717, und2532 Macht1849 habe2192, dich4571 loszugeben630?

11 Jesus said to him, You would have no authority whatever over me, if it had not been given to you from above; for this reason the sin of him who delivered me to you is greater than yours.

11 JEsus2424 antwortete611: Du hättest keine Macht1849 über2596 mich1700, wenn1508 sie dir4671 nicht3756 wäre2258 von oben herab gegeben1325; darum1223, der mich3165 dir4671 überantwortet3860 hat2192, der hat2192 größere3187 Sünde266.

12 And because of this, Pilate wanted to release him; but the Jews cried out, If you release this man you are not a friend of Caesar; for whoever makes himself a king is against Caesar.

12 Von1537 dem5127 an trachtete Pilatus4091, wie er846 ihn losließe630. Die Juden2453 aber1161 schrieen2896 und2212 sprachen3004: Lässest du diesen5126 los630, so1437 bist1488 du des Kaisers2541 Freund5384 nicht3756; denn wer3956 sich848 zum Könige935 macht4160, der ist630 wider483 den Kaiser.

13 When Pilate heard this word, he brought Jesus outside; then he sat down on the judgment seat, at a place which is called the Stone Pavement but in Hebrew it is called, Gabbatha.

13 Da3767 Pilatus4091 das5126 Wort3056 hörete, führete er2424 JEsum heraus1854 und2532 setzte sich2523 auf1519 den Richterstuhl an1909 der Stätte5117, die191 da heißt3004 Hochpflaster3038, auf ebräisch aber1161 Gabbatha1042.

14 It was Friday of the passover, and it was about six o'clock; and he said to the Jews, Behold your king!

14 Es war2258 aber1161 der Rüsttag3904 auf Ostern3957 um5616 die sechste1623 Stunde5610. Und1161 er spricht3004 zu den Juden2453: Sehet2396, das ist2532 euer5216 König935!

15 But they cried out, Take him away, take him away, crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your king? The high priests said to him, We have no king except Caesar.

15 Sie846 schrieen2905 aber1161: Weg142, weg mit142 dem, kreuzige4717 ihn! Spricht3004 Pilatus4091 zu ihnen846: Soll ich euren5216 König935 kreuzigen4717? Die Hohenpriester749 antworteten611: Wir haben2192 keinen3756 König935 denn1508 den Kaiser2541.

16 Then he delivered him to them to crucify him. So they took hold of Jesus and took him out,

16 Da5119 überantwortete3860 er846 ihn520 ihnen, daß2443 er846 gekreuzigt würde4717. Sie nahmen3880 aber3767 JEsum2424 und1161 führeten ihn hin.

17 Carrying his cross, to the place which is called The Skull, but in Hebrew it is called Golgotha;

17 Und2532 er trug941 sein Kreuz4716 und ging hinaus1831 zur Stätte5117 die3739 da heißt3004 Schädelstätte2898, welche heißt3004 auf1519 ebräisch Golgatha1115.

19 Pilate also wrote on a stone tablet, and placed it on his cross. And the writing was, THIS IS JESUS THE NAZARENE, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

19 Pilatus4091 aber schrieb1125 eine Überschrift5102 und2532 setzte5087 sie auf1909 das Kreuz4716; und2532 war2258 geschrieben1125: JEsus2424 von Nazareth3480, der Juden2453 König935.

20 And a great many Jews read this tablet, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew* and in Greek and in Roman.

20 Diese5126 Überschrift5102 lasen314 viel4183 Juden2453; denn3767 die Stätte5117 war2258 nahe bei1451 der Stadt4172, da3699 JEsus2424 gekreuziget ist4717. Und3754 es war2258 geschrieben1125 auf ebräische, griechische und2532 lateinische Sprache.

21 The high priests then said to Pilate, Do not write that he is the king of the Jews; but that he said, I am the king of the Jews.

21 Da3767 sprachen3004 die Hohenpriester749 der1565 Juden2453 zu Pilatus4091: Schreibe1125 nicht3361: Der Juden2453 König935; sondern235 daß3754 er gesagt2036 habe: Ich bin1510 der Juden2453 König935.

22 Pilate said, What I have written, I have written.

22 Pilatus4091 antwortete611: Was ich geschrieben1125 habe, das3739 hab‘ ich geschrieben1125.

23 Now when the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, a part to each of the soldiers; but his robe was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

23 Die Kriegsknechte4757 aber3753, da3767 sie JEsum2424 gekreuziget hatten4717, nahmen2983 sie seine846 Kleider2440 und2532 machten4160 vier5064 Teile3313, einem jeglichen1538 Kriegsknecht4757 ein Teil3313, dazu auch den Rock5509. Der Rock5509 aber1161 war2258 ungenähet, von1537 oben an gewirket durch und2532 durch.

24 So they said one to another, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose lot it shall be. And the scripture was fulfilled, which said, They divided my clothes among them, and for my robe they cast lots. These things the soldiers did.

24 Da3767 sprachen3004 sie846 untereinander240: Lasset uns den5101 nicht3361 zerteilen, sondern235 darum3767 losen2975, wes er846 sein2071 soll4160 (auf1909 daß4314 erfüllet würde4137 die3588 Schrift1124, die1438 da, sagt2036: Sie haben1266 meine3450 Kleider2440 unter sich4977 geteilet und2532 haben über4012 meinen3450 Rock2441 das2443 Los2819 geworfen906). Solches taten die Kriegsknechte4757.

25 Now there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, and Mary of Cleopas, and Mary of Magdala.

25 Es stund aber1161 bei3844 dem3588 Kreuze4716 JEsu2424 seine846 Mutter3384 und2532 seiner Mutter3384 Schwester79 Maria3137, des846 Kleophas2832 Weib, und2532 Maria3137 Magdalena3094.

26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son!

26 Da nun3767 JEsus2424 seine Mutter3384 sah und2532 den3739 Jünger3101 dabeistehen3936, den er liebhatte25 spricht3004 er zu seiner Mutter3384: Weib1135, siehe2400 das1492 ist dein4675 Sohn!

27 Then he said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that very hour the disciple took her with him.

27 Danach spricht3004 er846 zu1519 dem Jünger3101 siehe2400, das ist deine4675 Mutter3384! Und2532 von575 der1565 Stunde5610 an nahm2983 sie der Jünger3101 zu sich2398.

28 After these things Jesus knew that everything was now accomplished; and that the scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst.

28 Danach, als JEsus2424 wußte1492, daß5124 schon2235 alles3956 vollbracht war5055, daß3754 die Schrift1124 erfüllet würde5048, spricht3004 er: Mich dürstet1372!

29 Now there was a pitcher full of vinegar placed there; so they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it on the point of a reed, and placed it on his mouth.

29 Da3767 stund ein Gefäß4632 voll3324 Essigs. Sie846 aber1161 fülleten einen Schwamm4699 mit4130 Essig3690 und2532 legten ihn um4060 einen Ysop und hielten4374 es ihm dar zum Munde4750.

30 When Jesus drank the vinegar, he said, It is fulfilled; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

30 Da3753 nun3767 JEsus2424 den Essig3690 genommen2983 hatte5055, sprach2036 er: Es ist vollbracht! Und2532 neigete das Haupt2776 und verschied3860.

31 Now because it was Friday the Jews said, Let not these bodies remain on their crosses because the sabbath is dawning; for that sabbath was a great day. So they besought Pilate to have the legs of those who were crucified broken, and to have them lowered down.

31 Die Juden2453 aber2443; dieweil1893 es der1565 Rüsttag3904 war2258 daß3363 nicht2532 die Leichname4983 am1722 Kreuz4716 blieben3306 den Sabbat4521 über1909 (denn3767 desselbigen Sabbats4521 Tag2250 war2258 groß3173), baten2065 sie846 Pilatus4091; daß3363 ihre Beine4628 gebrochen2608, und1063 sie abgenommen würden142.

32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first one, and of the other one who was crucified with him.

32 Da3767 kamen2064 die Kriegsknechte4757 und2532 brachen2608 dem3588 ersten die Beine4628 und3303 dem andern243, der mit2532 ihm846 gekreuziget war4413.

33 But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was dead already, so they did not break his legs.

33 Als sie846 aber1161 zu1909 JEsu2424 kamen2064, da sie sahen1492, daß5613 er846 schon2235 gestorben2348 war, brachen2608 sie ihm die Beine4628 nicht3756,

34 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

34 sondern235 der1520 Kriegsknechte4757 einer öffnete3572 seine846 Seite4125 mit einem Speer3057; und2532 alsbald2117 ging Blut129 und2532 Wasser5204 heraus1831.

35 And he who saw it testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows well that what he said is true, that you also may believe.

35 Und2532 der das2548 gesehen3708 hat, der hat es bezeuget, und2532 sein Zeugnis3141 ist2076 wahr228, und derselbige weiß1492, daß3754 er846 die Wahrheit227 saget3004, auf daß2443 auch ihr3140 glaubet4100.

36 For these things happened that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, Not even a bone shall be broken in him;

36 Denn1063 solches5023 ist geschehen1096, daß2443 die Schrift1124 erfüllet würde4137: Ihr846 sollt4937 ihm kein3756 Bein3747 zerbrechen.

37 And again another scripture which said, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

37 Und2532 abermal spricht3004 eine andere2087 Schrift1124: Sie werden sehen3700, in1519 welchen3739 sie gestochen haben1574.

38 After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because of fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate granted him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus.

38 Danach bat2065 Pilatus4091 Joseph2501 von575 Arimathia707, der ein Jünger3101 JEsu2424 war5607, doch heimlich2928, aus1223 Furcht5401 vor den Juden2453, daß2443 er2532 möchte abnehmen142 den Leichnam4983 JEsu2424. Und1161 Pilatus4091 erlaubte2010 es5023. Da3326 kam2064 er und1161 nahm142 den Leichnam4983 JEsu2424 herab.

39 And there came also Nicodemus, who at first had come to Jesus by night; and he brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pints.

39 Es kam2064 aber1161 auch2532 Nikodemus3530, der3588 vormals bei5616 der Nacht3571 zu4314 JEsu2424 kommen2064 war, und2532 brachte5342 Myrrhen und4412 Aloen untereinander3395 bei hundert1540 Pfunden3046.

40 So they took away the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the custom of the Jews in burial.

40 Da3767 nahmen2983 sie846 den Leichnam4983 JEsu2424 und2532 banden1210 ihn in leinene Tücher3608 mit3326 Spezereien759, wie2531 die Juden2453 pflegen1485 zu begraben1779.

41 Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no man was yet laid.

41 Es war2258 aber1161 an der3739 Stätte5117, da3699 er gekreuziget ward4717, ein Garten2779 und2532 im1722 Garten2779 ein neu2537 Grab3419, in1722 welches niemand3762 je3764 gelegt5087 war.

42 So they laid Jesus there, because the sabbath was approaching and because the tomb was near.

42 Daselbst1563 hin legten5087 sie JEsum2424 um1223 des Rüsttages3904 willen der Juden2453, dieweil3754 das Grab3419 nahe1451 war2258.
