Luke

Chapter 9

1 THEN Jesus called his twelve, and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure diseases.

2 And he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

3 And he said to them, Do not take anything for the journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; nor have two shirts.

4 And into whatever house you enter, remain there, and depart from thence.

5 And whoever will not welcome you, when you leave that city, shake off even the sand from your feet for a testimony to them.

6 And the apostles went out, and travelled in villages and cities, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.

7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by his hand; and he was amazed, because some men said that John has risen from the dead.

8 But others, that Elijah has appeared; and others, that one of the old prophets has risen.

9 So Herod said, I have beheaded John; but who is this one concerning whom I hear these things? And he wanted to see him.

10 When the apostles returned, they told Jesus everything which they had done. And he took them all alone to a lonely place in Bethsaida.

11 When the people found it out, they went after him; and he received them, and spoke to them concerning the kingdom of God, and he healed those who were in need of healing.

12 And when the day began to wane, his disciples came up and said to him, Dismiss the people, that they may go to the villages around us and to the farms, to lodge there, and find food for themselves; because we are in a lonely place.

13 Jesus said to them, You give them to eat. But they said, We do not have more than five loaves of bread and two fish; unless we go and buy food for all this people;

14 For there were about five thousand men. Jesus said to them, Make them sit down in groups, fifty men in each group.

15 The disciples did so, and made them all sit down.

16 And Jesus took the five loaves of bread and the two fish, and looked up to heaven, and he blessed them, and broke and gave them to his disciples, to set before the people.

17 And they all ate and were filled; and they took up fragments of what was left over, twelve baskets.

18 While he prayed by himself, and his disciples were with him, he asked them and said, What do the people say concerning me that I am?

19 They answered and said to him, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others that one of the old prophets has risen.

20 He said to them, But you, what do you say that I am? Simon answered and said, The Messiah (the anointed one of God).

21 But he cautioned them, and warned them not to say this to anyone.

22 And he said to them, The Son of man must suffer a great many things, and he will be rejected by the elders and the high priests and the scribes, and they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.

23 Then he said in the presence of everyone, He who wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross every day and follow me.

24 For he who wishes to save his life, shall lose it; but he who loses his life for my sake, he shall save it.

25 For how can a man be benefited, if he gain the whole world, but lose his own soul, or even weakens it?

26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of man will be ashamed of him, when he comes with the glory of his Father, accompanied by his holy angels.

27 I tell you the truth, that there are men who stand here, who will not taste death, until they see the kingdom of God.

28 And it came to pass about eight days after these words, Jesus took Simon, and James and John, and went up into a mountain to pray.

29 And while he prayed, the appearance of his face was changed, and his clothes became white and dazzling.

30 And behold, two men were speaking with him, who were Moses and Elijah;

31 Who appeared in glory, and spoke concerning his departure which was to end at Jerusalem.

32 And Simon and those who were with him were heavy with sleep; and when they awoke they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.

33 And when they began to leave him, Simon said to Jesus, Teacher, it is better for us to remain here; and let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah; but he did not know what he was saying.

34 And when he had said these things, there came a cloud and overshadowed them; and they were frightened when they saw Moses and Elijah enter into the cloud.

35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son; hear him.

36 And when the voice was heard, they found Jesus alone. And they kept silent, and in those days they did not tell any man what they saw.

37 And it came to pass the next day, as they came down from the mountain, they were met by many people.

38 And one of the men of that crowd cried out and said, O teacher, I beg you to have mercy on me. I have an only son,

39 And a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out, and gnashes his teeth and foams; and it hardly leaves him when it has tormented him.

40 And I besought your disciples to cast it out; and they could not.

41 Jesus answered and said, O crooked and faithless generation, how long will I be with you, and preach to you? Bring your son here.

42 And as he brought him, the demon attacked him and convulsed him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him to his father.

43 And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. And while every man wondered at everything which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

44 Treasure these words in your ears; for the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men.

45 But they did not understand this word, because it was hidden from them so that they might not know it; and they were afraid to ask him concerning this word.

46 Then a reasoning entered into their minds, as to who was the greatest among them.

47 But Jesus knew the reasoning of their heart, and he took a boy and made him stand by him.

48 And he said to them, Everyone who receives a little boy like this one in my name, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me; for whoever is least among you, let him be great.

49 And John answered and said, Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name; and we forbad him, because he did not come with us, as your follower.

50 Jesus said to them, Do not forbid; for he who is not against you is for you.

51 And it happened, when the days to go up on his journey were fulfilled, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

52 So he sent messengers ahead of him; and they went away and entered into a Samaritan village, to prepare for him.

53 But they did not receive him, because his face was set to go straight to Jerusalem.

54 When his disciples James and John saw it, they said to him, Our Lord, would you be willing that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?

55 He turned and rebuked them and said, You do not know of what spirit you are.

56 For the Son of man did not come to destroy lives, but to save. And they went to another village.

57 And while they were on the journey, a man said to him, My Lord, I will follow you wherever you go.

58 Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the fowl of the sky a shelter; but the Son of man has no place even to lay his head.

59 He said to another, Follow me; but he said to him, My Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.

60 Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead; but you go and preach the kingdom of God.

61 Another one said to him, I will follow you, my Lord; but permit me first to entrust my household to some one, and then come.

62 Jesus said to him, No man who puts his hand on the plough handle, and looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

1 Er846 forderte4779 aber1161 die Zwölfe zusammen4779 und2532 gab1325 ihnen Gewalt1411 und2532 Macht1849 über1909 alle3956 Teufel1140 und daß sie Seuchen3554 heilen2323 konnten.

2 Und2532 sandte649 sie846 aus, zu predigen2784 das932 Reich Gottes2316 und2532 zu heilen2390 die Kranken770.

3 Und2532 sprach2036 zu4314 ihnen: Ihr846 sollt nichts mit1519 euch nehmen auf142 den Weg3598, weder3383 Stab4464 noch3383 Tasche4082 noch3383 Brot740 noch3383 Geld694; es soll auch3383 einer nicht3367 zwei1417 Röcke5509 haben2192.

4 Und2532 wo ihr302 in1519 ein1525 Haus3614 gehet1831, da1563 bleibet3306, bis ihr von1564 dannen ziehet.

5 Und2532 welche euch5209 nicht3361 aufnehmen302, da gehet aus1831 von575 derselben Stadt4172 und2532 schüttelt660 auch den1565 Staub2868 ab von575 euren5216 Füßen4228 zu1519 einem Zeugnis3142 über1909 sie846.

6 Und1161 sie gingen hinaus1831 und2532 durchzogen1330 die Märkte2968, predigten das Evangelium2097 und machten gesund2323 an allen2596 Enden3837.

7 Es3754 kam191 aber1161 vor Herodes, den Vierfürsten5076, alles3956, was durch1223 ihn geschah; und2532 er846 besorgte sich, dieweil von5259 etlichen5100 gesagt3004 ward1096: Johannes2491 ist von5259 den Toten3498 auferstanden1453;

8 von etlichen243 aber1161: Elia2243 ist450 erschienen5316; von etlichen aber1161: Es3754 ist der5259 alten744 Propheten4396 einer5100 auferstanden.

9 Und2532 Herodes sprach2036: Johannes2491, den habe607 ich1473 enthauptet607; wer5101 ist2076 aber1161 dieser3778, von4012 dem3739 ich1473 solches5108 höre191? Und2532 begehrete, ihn846 zu sehen1492.

10 Und2532 die Apostel652 kamen wieder5290 und2532 erzählten1334 ihm, wie große Dinge sie3745 getan4160 hatten. Und er846 nahm3880 sie846 zu sich und entwich5298 besonders2398 in1519 eine Wüste2048 bei der Stadt4172, die da heißt2564 Bethsaida966.

11 Da des846 das932 Volk3793 inne ward, zog es2322 ihm846 nach190. Und2532 er846 ließ1209 sie1097 zu sich und2532 sagte2980 ihnen846 vom4012 Reich Gottes2316 und machte gesund2390, die es bedurften5532. Aber1161 der Tag fing an2192 sich zu neigen.

12 Da2532 traten zu4334 ihm die Zwölfe und1161 sprachen2036 zu ihm: Laß630 das Volk3793 von756 dir630, daß2250 sie846 hingehen565 in1519 die Märkte2968 umher2945 und1161 in1722 die Dörfer68, daß2443 sie Herberge2647 und2532 Speise1979 finden2147; denn3754 wir sind2070 hier5602 in der Wüste2048.

13 Er846 aber1161 sprach2036 zu4314 ihnen: Gebt1325 ihr846 ihnen zu1519 essen5315. Sie sprachen2036: Wir2254 haben1526 nicht mehr denn4119 fünf4002 Brote740 und1161 zwei1417 Fische2486; es sei denn2228, daß wir2249 hingehen sollen4198 und2532 Speise1033 kaufen59 für so groß Volk2992.

14 (Denn1063 es waren2258 bei5616 fünftausend4000 Mann435.) Er846 sprach2036 aber1161 zu4314 seinen Jüngern3101: Lasset2625 sie sich848 setzen bei Schichten2828, je303 fünfzig4004 und fünfzig.

15 Und2532 sie846 taten4160 also3779 und2532 setzten sich347 alle537.

16 Da nahm2983 er846 die fünf4002 Brote740 und1161 zwei1417 Fische2486 und2532 sah auf308 gen1519 Himmel3772 und2532 dankete darüber, brach2622 sie und2532 gab1325 sie den Jüngern3101, daß sie dem Volk3793 vorlegten3908.

17 Und2532 sie846 aßen5315 und2532 wurden alle3956 satt5526; und2532 wurden aufgehoben142, was ihnen über blieb von Brocken2801, zwölf1427 Körbe2894.

18 Und2532 es begab1096 sich, da er846 allein2651 war1511 und2532 betete4336 und seine846 Jünger3101 bei1722 ihm, fragte1905 er846 sie und sprach3004: Wer5101 sagen3004 die Leute3793, daß3165 ich sei1511?

19 Sie antworteten611 und1161 sprachen2036: Sie sagen, du seiest Johannes2491 der Täufer910; etliche243 aber1161, du seiest Elia2243; etliche243 aber1161, es3754 sei450 der alten744 Propheten4396 einer5100 auferstanden.

20 Er aber1161 sprach2036 zu ihnen: Wer5101 saget2036 ihr846 aber1161, daß3165 ich sei? Da antwortete611 Petrus4074 und sprach3004: Du bist der Christ Gottes5547.

21 Und1161 er846 bedräuete sie und gebot2008, daß sie das5124 niemand3367 sagten2036,

22 und2532 sprach: Denn des Menschen Sohn muß1163 noch viel4183 leiden3958 und2532 verworfen werde von575 den444 Ältesten4245 und2532 Hohenpriestern749 und2532 Schriftgelehrten1122 und2532 getötet615 werden593 und am dritten5154 Tage2250 auferstehen1453.

23 Da2532 sprach3004 er zu4314 ihnen allen3956: Wer1536 mir3450 folgen190 will2309 der2596 verleugne533 sich848 selbst1438 und1161 nehme sein2064 Kreuz4716 auf142 sich täglich und2532 folge mir3427 nach3694.

24 Denn1063 wer302 sein846 Leben5590 erhalten4982 will2309, der3778 wird es846 verlieren622; wer302 aber1161 sein Leben5590 verlieret um622 meinetwillen1700, der wird‘s erhalten4982.

25 Und1063 was5101 Nutz hätte5623 der Mensch444, ob er die ganze3650 Welt2889 gewönne2770 und1161 verlöre622 sich selbst1438 oder2228 beschädigte sich selbst2210?

26 Wer302 sich1870 aber mein3165 und1063 meiner1699 Worte3056 schämet1870, des5126 wird sich1870 des Menschen444 Sohn auch2532 schämen, wenn3752 er kommen2064 wird in1722 seiner Herrlichkeit1391 und2532 seines Vaters3962 und2532 der heiligen40 Engel32.

27 Ich302 sage3004 euch5213 aber1161 wahrlich230, daß etliche5100 sind von denen, die hier5602 stehen1526, die den Tod2288 nicht3364 schmecken1089 werden2476, bis daß sie das3739 Reich932 Gottes2316 sehen1492.

28 Und1161 es begab1096 sich nach3326 diesen5128 Reden bei5616 acht3638 Tagen2250, daß er305 zu sich nahm3880 Petrus4074, Johannes2491 und2532 Jakobus2385 und2532 ging auf1519 einen Berg3735, zu beten4336.

29 Und2532 da1722 er846 betete4336, ward1096 die Gestalt1491 seines846 Angesichts4383 anders2087, und2532 sein Kleid2441 ward weiß3022 und glänzete.

30 Und2532 siehe2400, zwei1417 Männer435 redeten4814 mit ihm846, welche3748 waren2258 Mose3475 und2532 Elia2243.

31 Die3739 erschienen3700 in1722 Klarheit1391 und redeten3004 von dem3739 Ausgang1841, welchen er846 sollte3195 erfüllen4137 zu1722 Jerusalem2419.

32 Petrus4074 aber1161, und2532 die mit4862 ihm waren2258, waren voll Schlafs916. Da sie846 aber1161 aufwachten1235, sahen1492 sie846 seine846 Klarheit1391 und2532 die zwei1417 Männer435 bei ihm stehen4921.

33 Und2532 es begab1096 sich, da2532 die3739 von575 ihm846 wichen1316; sprach2036 Petrus4074 zu1722 JEsu2424: Meister1988, hier5602 ist2076 gut2570 sein1511; lasset uns2248 drei5140 Hütten4633 machen4160, dir4671 eine3391, Mose3475 eine3391 und2532 Elia2243 eine3391. Und2532 wußte1492 nicht3361, was4314 er846 redete3004.

34 Da1722 er846 aber1161 solches5023 redete3004, kam1096 eine Wolke3507 und2532 überschattete1982 sie846. Und1161 sie erschraken5399, da1519 sie die1565 Wolke3507 überzog1525.

35 Und2532 es fiel eine Stimme5456 aus1537 der3778 Wolke3507, die sprach3004: Dieser ist1096 mein3450 lieber27 Sohn, den sollt ihr846 hören191.

36 Und2532 indem solche Stimme5456 geschah1096, fanden2147 sie846 JEsum2424 alleine. Und2532 sie1565 verschwiegen und2532 verkündigten518 niemand3762 nichts3762 in denselbigen Tagen2250, was3739 sie gesehen3708 hatten4601.

37 Es begab1096 sich aber1161 den Tag2250 hernach1836, da1722 sie846 von575 dem Berge3735 kamen2718, kam4876 ihnen846 entgegen viel4183 Volks3793.

38 Und2532 siehe2400, ein Mann435 unter1909 dem575 Volk3793 rief310 und sprach3004: Meister1320, ich3427 bitte1189 dich4675, besiehe1914 doch meinen Sohn3439; denn3754 er ist2076 mein3450 einiger Sohn.

39 Siehe2400, der Geist4151 ergreift2983 ihn846, so2532 schreiet er846 alsbald1810; und2532 reißet ihn, daß er2896 schäumet; und2532 mit3326 Not3425 weichet er846 von575 ihm846, wenn er2532 ihn gerissen hat4937.

40 Und2532 ich habe deine4675 Jünger3101 gebeten1189, daß2443 sie846 ihn1544 austrieben1544, und2532 sie konnten1410 nicht3756.

41 Da antwortete611 JEsus2424 und1161 sprach2036: O du5599 ungläubige571 und2532 verkehrte1294 Art1074! Wie2193 lange4219 soll ich bei4314 euch5209 sein2071 und2532 euch5216 dulden430? Bringe4317 deinen4675 Sohn her5602.

42 Und2532 da er4486 zu4334 ihm846 kam4334, riß4486 ihn846 der Teufel1140 und1161 zerrete ihn846. JEsus2424 aber1161 bedräuete den unsaubern169 Geist4151 und2532 machte den Knaben3816 gesund2390 und2532 gab591 ihn seinem Vater3962 wieder591.

43 Und1161 sie entsetzten1605 sich1605 alle3956 über1909 die3739 Herrlichkeit3168 Gottes2316. Da sie sich848 aber1161 alle3956 verwunderten2296 über1909 alles3956, was er2424 tat4160, sprach2036 er zu4314 seinen Jüngern3101:

44 Fasset5087 ihr zu1519 euren5216 Ohren3775 diese5128 Reden3056! Denn1063 des Menschen444 Sohn muß überantwortet3860 werden3195 in1519 der Menschen444 Hände5495.

45 Aber1161 das5124 Wort4487 vernahmen sie846 nicht50, und2532 es war2258 vor575 ihnen verborgen3871, daß3363 sie846 es nicht3363 begriffen143; und2532 sie846 fürchteten sich5399, ihn zu fragen2065 um4012 dasselbige Wort4487.

46 Es846 kam auch ein1525 Gedanke1261 unter1722 sie1161, welcher302 unter ihnen846 der Größte3187 wäre1498.

47 Da aber1161 JEsus2424 den Gedanken1261 ihres Herzens2588 sah1492, ergriff1949 er846 ein Kind3813 und stellete es846 neben3844 sich1438

48 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihnen846: Wer1437 das5124 Kind3813 aufnimmt1209 in1722 meinem3450 Namen3686, der3778 nimmt mich1691 auf1909; und2532 wer1437 mich1691 aufnimmt1209, der nimmt den auf, der mich3165 gesandt hat649. Welcher3956 aber1063 der Kleinste3398 ist5225 unter euch5213 allen, der wird1209 groß3173 sein2071.

49 Da3326 antwortete611 Johannes2491 und1161 sprach2036: Meister1988, wir5100 sahen1492 einen, der trieb1544 die Teufel1140 aus in deinem Namen3686, und2532 wir wehreten ihm190; denn3754 er846 folget dir4675 nicht3756 mit1909 uns2257.

50 Und2532 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu4314 ihm846: Wehret2967 ihm nicht3361; denn1063 wer nicht3756 wider2596 uns2257 ist2076, der3739 ist2076 für5228 uns2257.

51 Es begab sich848 aber1161, da die Zeit2250 erfüllet war4845, daß er846 sollte von hinnen genommen werden1096, wandte er sein Angesicht4383, stracks gen1519 Jerusalem2419 zu1722 wandeln4198.

52 Und2532 er846 sandte649 Boten32 vor4253 sich848 hin4198; die gingen hin und2532 kamen1525 in1519 einen Markt2968 der Samariter4541, daß5620 sie ihm Herberge bestelleten.

53 Und2532 sie846 nahmen1209 ihn846 nicht3756 an, darum daß3754 er1209 sein Angesicht4383 gewendet hatte2258, zu1519 wandeln4198 gen Jerusalem2419.

54 Da aber1161 das seine846 Jünger3101, Jakobus2385 und2532 Johannes2491 sahen1492, sprachen2036 sie846: HErr2962, willst du, so2532 wollen2309 wir sagen2036, daß Feuer4442 vom575 Himmel3772 falle2597 und2532 verzehre355 sie, wie5613 Elia2243 tat4160.

55 JEsus2008 aber1161 wandte sich4762 und2532 bedräuete sie3634 und sprach2036: Wisset1492 ihr846 nicht3756, welches Geistes4151 Kinder ihr5210 seid2075?

56 Des2532 Menschen444 Sohn ist2064 nicht3756 kommen2064, der Menschen444 Seelen5590 zu1063 verderben622, sondern235 zu1519 erhalten4982.

57 Und sie846 gingen4198 in1722 einen andern Markt. Es begab1096 sich aber1161, da sie auf dem Wege3598 waren, sprach2036 einer5100 zu4314 ihm: Ich302 will dir4671 folgen190, wo du hingehest.

58 Und2532 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu ihm: Die Füchse258 haben2192 Gruben5454, und2532 die Vögel4071 unter dem Himmel3772 haben2192 Nester2682, aber1161 des Menschen444 Sohn hat nicht3756, da4226 er846 sein Haupt2776 hinlege.

59 Und1161 er sprach2036 zu4314 einem andern2087: Folge mir3427 nach190! Der sprach2036 aber1161: HErr2962, erlaube2010 mir3427, daß ich zuvor hingehe565 und4412 meinen3450 Vater3962 begrabe2290.

60 Aber1161 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu ihm846: Laß863 die Toten3498 ihre1438 Toten3498 begraben2290; gehe du4771 aber1161 hin565 und verkündige1229 das932 Reich Gottes2316.

61 Und2532 ein anderer2087 sprach2036: HErr2962, ich will dir4671 nachfolgen190; aber1161 erlaube2010 mir3427 zuvor4412, daß ich einen Abschied mache657 mit denen, die in1519 meinem3450 Hause3624 sind.

62 JEsus2424 aber1161 sprach2036 zu4314 ihm: Wer seine846 Hand5495 an1909 den Pflug723 leget und2532 siehet zurück3694, der ist2076 nicht3762 geschickt2111 zum Reich932 Gottes2316.

2 Und2532 sandte649 sie846 aus, zu predigen2784 das932 Reich Gottes2316 und2532 zu heilen2390 die Kranken770.

3 And he said to them, Do not take anything for the journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; nor have two shirts.

3 Und2532 sprach2036 zu4314 ihnen: Ihr846 sollt nichts mit1519 euch nehmen auf142 den Weg3598, weder3383 Stab4464 noch3383 Tasche4082 noch3383 Brot740 noch3383 Geld694; es soll auch3383 einer nicht3367 zwei1417 Röcke5509 haben2192.

4 And into whatever house you enter, remain there, and depart from thence.

4 Und2532 wo ihr302 in1519 ein1525 Haus3614 gehet1831, da1563 bleibet3306, bis ihr von1564 dannen ziehet.

5 And whoever will not welcome you, when you leave that city, shake off even the sand from your feet for a testimony to them.

5 Und2532 welche euch5209 nicht3361 aufnehmen302, da gehet aus1831 von575 derselben Stadt4172 und2532 schüttelt660 auch den1565 Staub2868 ab von575 euren5216 Füßen4228 zu1519 einem Zeugnis3142 über1909 sie846.

6 And the apostles went out, and travelled in villages and cities, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.

6 Und1161 sie gingen hinaus1831 und2532 durchzogen1330 die Märkte2968, predigten das Evangelium2097 und machten gesund2323 an allen2596 Enden3837.

7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by his hand; and he was amazed, because some men said that John has risen from the dead.

7 Es3754 kam191 aber1161 vor Herodes, den Vierfürsten5076, alles3956, was durch1223 ihn geschah; und2532 er846 besorgte sich, dieweil von5259 etlichen5100 gesagt3004 ward1096: Johannes2491 ist von5259 den Toten3498 auferstanden1453;

8 But others, that Elijah has appeared; and others, that one of the old prophets has risen.

8 von etlichen243 aber1161: Elia2243 ist450 erschienen5316; von etlichen aber1161: Es3754 ist der5259 alten744 Propheten4396 einer5100 auferstanden.

9 So Herod said, I have beheaded John; but who is this one concerning whom I hear these things? And he wanted to see him.

9 Und2532 Herodes sprach2036: Johannes2491, den habe607 ich1473 enthauptet607; wer5101 ist2076 aber1161 dieser3778, von4012 dem3739 ich1473 solches5108 höre191? Und2532 begehrete, ihn846 zu sehen1492.

10 When the apostles returned, they told Jesus everything which they had done. And he took them all alone to a lonely place in Bethsaida.

10 Und2532 die Apostel652 kamen wieder5290 und2532 erzählten1334 ihm, wie große Dinge sie3745 getan4160 hatten. Und er846 nahm3880 sie846 zu sich und entwich5298 besonders2398 in1519 eine Wüste2048 bei der Stadt4172, die da heißt2564 Bethsaida966.

11 When the people found it out, they went after him; and he received them, and spoke to them concerning the kingdom of God, and he healed those who were in need of healing.

11 Da des846 das932 Volk3793 inne ward, zog es2322 ihm846 nach190. Und2532 er846 ließ1209 sie1097 zu sich und2532 sagte2980 ihnen846 vom4012 Reich Gottes2316 und machte gesund2390, die es bedurften5532. Aber1161 der Tag fing an2192 sich zu neigen.

12 And when the day began to wane, his disciples came up and said to him, Dismiss the people, that they may go to the villages around us and to the farms, to lodge there, and find food for themselves; because we are in a lonely place.

12 Da2532 traten zu4334 ihm die Zwölfe und1161 sprachen2036 zu ihm: Laß630 das Volk3793 von756 dir630, daß2250 sie846 hingehen565 in1519 die Märkte2968 umher2945 und1161 in1722 die Dörfer68, daß2443 sie Herberge2647 und2532 Speise1979 finden2147; denn3754 wir sind2070 hier5602 in der Wüste2048.

13 Jesus said to them, You give them to eat. But they said, We do not have more than five loaves of bread and two fish; unless we go and buy food for all this people;

13 Er846 aber1161 sprach2036 zu4314 ihnen: Gebt1325 ihr846 ihnen zu1519 essen5315. Sie sprachen2036: Wir2254 haben1526 nicht mehr denn4119 fünf4002 Brote740 und1161 zwei1417 Fische2486; es sei denn2228, daß wir2249 hingehen sollen4198 und2532 Speise1033 kaufen59 für so groß Volk2992.

14 For there were about five thousand men. Jesus said to them, Make them sit down in groups, fifty men in each group.

14 (Denn1063 es waren2258 bei5616 fünftausend4000 Mann435.) Er846 sprach2036 aber1161 zu4314 seinen Jüngern3101: Lasset2625 sie sich848 setzen bei Schichten2828, je303 fünfzig4004 und fünfzig.

15 The disciples did so, and made them all sit down.

15 Und2532 sie846 taten4160 also3779 und2532 setzten sich347 alle537.

16 And Jesus took the five loaves of bread and the two fish, and looked up to heaven, and he blessed them, and broke and gave them to his disciples, to set before the people.

16 Da nahm2983 er846 die fünf4002 Brote740 und1161 zwei1417 Fische2486 und2532 sah auf308 gen1519 Himmel3772 und2532 dankete darüber, brach2622 sie und2532 gab1325 sie den Jüngern3101, daß sie dem Volk3793 vorlegten3908.

17 And they all ate and were filled; and they took up fragments of what was left over, twelve baskets.

17 Und2532 sie846 aßen5315 und2532 wurden alle3956 satt5526; und2532 wurden aufgehoben142, was ihnen über blieb von Brocken2801, zwölf1427 Körbe2894.

18 While he prayed by himself, and his disciples were with him, he asked them and said, What do the people say concerning me that I am?

18 Und2532 es begab1096 sich, da er846 allein2651 war1511 und2532 betete4336 und seine846 Jünger3101 bei1722 ihm, fragte1905 er846 sie und sprach3004: Wer5101 sagen3004 die Leute3793, daß3165 ich sei1511?

19 They answered and said to him, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others that one of the old prophets has risen.

19 Sie antworteten611 und1161 sprachen2036: Sie sagen, du seiest Johannes2491 der Täufer910; etliche243 aber1161, du seiest Elia2243; etliche243 aber1161, es3754 sei450 der alten744 Propheten4396 einer5100 auferstanden.

20 He said to them, But you, what do you say that I am? Simon answered and said, The Messiah (the anointed one of God).

20 Er aber1161 sprach2036 zu ihnen: Wer5101 saget2036 ihr846 aber1161, daß3165 ich sei? Da antwortete611 Petrus4074 und sprach3004: Du bist der Christ Gottes5547.

21 But he cautioned them, and warned them not to say this to anyone.

21 Und1161 er846 bedräuete sie und gebot2008, daß sie das5124 niemand3367 sagten2036,

22 And he said to them, The Son of man must suffer a great many things, and he will be rejected by the elders and the high priests and the scribes, and they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.

22 und2532 sprach: Denn des Menschen Sohn muß1163 noch viel4183 leiden3958 und2532 verworfen werde von575 den444 Ältesten4245 und2532 Hohenpriestern749 und2532 Schriftgelehrten1122 und2532 getötet615 werden593 und am dritten5154 Tage2250 auferstehen1453.

23 Then he said in the presence of everyone, He who wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross every day and follow me.

23 Da2532 sprach3004 er zu4314 ihnen allen3956: Wer1536 mir3450 folgen190 will2309 der2596 verleugne533 sich848 selbst1438 und1161 nehme sein2064 Kreuz4716 auf142 sich täglich und2532 folge mir3427 nach3694.

24 For he who wishes to save his life, shall lose it; but he who loses his life for my sake, he shall save it.

24 Denn1063 wer302 sein846 Leben5590 erhalten4982 will2309, der3778 wird es846 verlieren622; wer302 aber1161 sein Leben5590 verlieret um622 meinetwillen1700, der wird‘s erhalten4982.

25 For how can a man be benefited, if he gain the whole world, but lose his own soul, or even weakens it?

25 Und1063 was5101 Nutz hätte5623 der Mensch444, ob er die ganze3650 Welt2889 gewönne2770 und1161 verlöre622 sich selbst1438 oder2228 beschädigte sich selbst2210?

26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of man will be ashamed of him, when he comes with the glory of his Father, accompanied by his holy angels.

26 Wer302 sich1870 aber mein3165 und1063 meiner1699 Worte3056 schämet1870, des5126 wird sich1870 des Menschen444 Sohn auch2532 schämen, wenn3752 er kommen2064 wird in1722 seiner Herrlichkeit1391 und2532 seines Vaters3962 und2532 der heiligen40 Engel32.

27 I tell you the truth, that there are men who stand here, who will not taste death, until they see the kingdom of God.

27 Ich302 sage3004 euch5213 aber1161 wahrlich230, daß etliche5100 sind von denen, die hier5602 stehen1526, die den Tod2288 nicht3364 schmecken1089 werden2476, bis daß sie das3739 Reich932 Gottes2316 sehen1492.

28 And it came to pass about eight days after these words, Jesus took Simon, and James and John, and went up into a mountain to pray.

28 Und1161 es begab1096 sich nach3326 diesen5128 Reden bei5616 acht3638 Tagen2250, daß er305 zu sich nahm3880 Petrus4074, Johannes2491 und2532 Jakobus2385 und2532 ging auf1519 einen Berg3735, zu beten4336.

29 And while he prayed, the appearance of his face was changed, and his clothes became white and dazzling.

29 Und2532 da1722 er846 betete4336, ward1096 die Gestalt1491 seines846 Angesichts4383 anders2087, und2532 sein Kleid2441 ward weiß3022 und glänzete.

30 And behold, two men were speaking with him, who were Moses and Elijah;

30 Und2532 siehe2400, zwei1417 Männer435 redeten4814 mit ihm846, welche3748 waren2258 Mose3475 und2532 Elia2243.

31 Who appeared in glory, and spoke concerning his departure which was to end at Jerusalem.

31 Die3739 erschienen3700 in1722 Klarheit1391 und redeten3004 von dem3739 Ausgang1841, welchen er846 sollte3195 erfüllen4137 zu1722 Jerusalem2419.

32 And Simon and those who were with him were heavy with sleep; and when they awoke they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.

32 Petrus4074 aber1161, und2532 die mit4862 ihm waren2258, waren voll Schlafs916. Da sie846 aber1161 aufwachten1235, sahen1492 sie846 seine846 Klarheit1391 und2532 die zwei1417 Männer435 bei ihm stehen4921.

33 And when they began to leave him, Simon said to Jesus, Teacher, it is better for us to remain here; and let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah; but he did not know what he was saying.

33 Und2532 es begab1096 sich, da2532 die3739 von575 ihm846 wichen1316; sprach2036 Petrus4074 zu1722 JEsu2424: Meister1988, hier5602 ist2076 gut2570 sein1511; lasset uns2248 drei5140 Hütten4633 machen4160, dir4671 eine3391, Mose3475 eine3391 und2532 Elia2243 eine3391. Und2532 wußte1492 nicht3361, was4314 er846 redete3004.

34 And when he had said these things, there came a cloud and overshadowed them; and they were frightened when they saw Moses and Elijah enter into the cloud.

34 Da1722 er846 aber1161 solches5023 redete3004, kam1096 eine Wolke3507 und2532 überschattete1982 sie846. Und1161 sie erschraken5399, da1519 sie die1565 Wolke3507 überzog1525.

35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son; hear him.

35 Und2532 es fiel eine Stimme5456 aus1537 der3778 Wolke3507, die sprach3004: Dieser ist1096 mein3450 lieber27 Sohn, den sollt ihr846 hören191.

36 And when the voice was heard, they found Jesus alone. And they kept silent, and in those days they did not tell any man what they saw.

36 Und2532 indem solche Stimme5456 geschah1096, fanden2147 sie846 JEsum2424 alleine. Und2532 sie1565 verschwiegen und2532 verkündigten518 niemand3762 nichts3762 in denselbigen Tagen2250, was3739 sie gesehen3708 hatten4601.

37 And it came to pass the next day, as they came down from the mountain, they were met by many people.

37 Es begab1096 sich aber1161 den Tag2250 hernach1836, da1722 sie846 von575 dem Berge3735 kamen2718, kam4876 ihnen846 entgegen viel4183 Volks3793.

38 And one of the men of that crowd cried out and said, O teacher, I beg you to have mercy on me. I have an only son,

38 Und2532 siehe2400, ein Mann435 unter1909 dem575 Volk3793 rief310 und sprach3004: Meister1320, ich3427 bitte1189 dich4675, besiehe1914 doch meinen Sohn3439; denn3754 er ist2076 mein3450 einiger Sohn.

39 And a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out, and gnashes his teeth and foams; and it hardly leaves him when it has tormented him.

39 Siehe2400, der Geist4151 ergreift2983 ihn846, so2532 schreiet er846 alsbald1810; und2532 reißet ihn, daß er2896 schäumet; und2532 mit3326 Not3425 weichet er846 von575 ihm846, wenn er2532 ihn gerissen hat4937.

40 And I besought your disciples to cast it out; and they could not.

40 Und2532 ich habe deine4675 Jünger3101 gebeten1189, daß2443 sie846 ihn1544 austrieben1544, und2532 sie konnten1410 nicht3756.

41 Jesus answered and said, O crooked and faithless generation, how long will I be with you, and preach to you? Bring your son here.

41 Da antwortete611 JEsus2424 und1161 sprach2036: O du5599 ungläubige571 und2532 verkehrte1294 Art1074! Wie2193 lange4219 soll ich bei4314 euch5209 sein2071 und2532 euch5216 dulden430? Bringe4317 deinen4675 Sohn her5602.

42 And as he brought him, the demon attacked him and convulsed him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him to his father.

42 Und2532 da er4486 zu4334 ihm846 kam4334, riß4486 ihn846 der Teufel1140 und1161 zerrete ihn846. JEsus2424 aber1161 bedräuete den unsaubern169 Geist4151 und2532 machte den Knaben3816 gesund2390 und2532 gab591 ihn seinem Vater3962 wieder591.

43 And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. And while every man wondered at everything which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

43 Und1161 sie entsetzten1605 sich1605 alle3956 über1909 die3739 Herrlichkeit3168 Gottes2316. Da sie sich848 aber1161 alle3956 verwunderten2296 über1909 alles3956, was er2424 tat4160, sprach2036 er zu4314 seinen Jüngern3101:

44 Treasure these words in your ears; for the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men.

44 Fasset5087 ihr zu1519 euren5216 Ohren3775 diese5128 Reden3056! Denn1063 des Menschen444 Sohn muß überantwortet3860 werden3195 in1519 der Menschen444 Hände5495.

45 But they did not understand this word, because it was hidden from them so that they might not know it; and they were afraid to ask him concerning this word.

45 Aber1161 das5124 Wort4487 vernahmen sie846 nicht50, und2532 es war2258 vor575 ihnen verborgen3871, daß3363 sie846 es nicht3363 begriffen143; und2532 sie846 fürchteten sich5399, ihn zu fragen2065 um4012 dasselbige Wort4487.

46 Then a reasoning entered into their minds, as to who was the greatest among them.

46 Es846 kam auch ein1525 Gedanke1261 unter1722 sie1161, welcher302 unter ihnen846 der Größte3187 wäre1498.

47 But Jesus knew the reasoning of their heart, and he took a boy and made him stand by him.

47 Da aber1161 JEsus2424 den Gedanken1261 ihres Herzens2588 sah1492, ergriff1949 er846 ein Kind3813 und stellete es846 neben3844 sich1438

48 And he said to them, Everyone who receives a little boy like this one in my name, receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me; for whoever is least among you, let him be great.

48 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihnen846: Wer1437 das5124 Kind3813 aufnimmt1209 in1722 meinem3450 Namen3686, der3778 nimmt mich1691 auf1909; und2532 wer1437 mich1691 aufnimmt1209, der nimmt den auf, der mich3165 gesandt hat649. Welcher3956 aber1063 der Kleinste3398 ist5225 unter euch5213 allen, der wird1209 groß3173 sein2071.

49 And John answered and said, Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name; and we forbad him, because he did not come with us, as your follower.

49 Da3326 antwortete611 Johannes2491 und1161 sprach2036: Meister1988, wir5100 sahen1492 einen, der trieb1544 die Teufel1140 aus in deinem Namen3686, und2532 wir wehreten ihm190; denn3754 er846 folget dir4675 nicht3756 mit1909 uns2257.

50 Jesus said to them, Do not forbid; for he who is not against you is for you.

50 Und2532 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu4314 ihm846: Wehret2967 ihm nicht3361; denn1063 wer nicht3756 wider2596 uns2257 ist2076, der3739 ist2076 für5228 uns2257.

51 And it happened, when the days to go up on his journey were fulfilled, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

51 Es begab sich848 aber1161, da die Zeit2250 erfüllet war4845, daß er846 sollte von hinnen genommen werden1096, wandte er sein Angesicht4383, stracks gen1519 Jerusalem2419 zu1722 wandeln4198.

52 So he sent messengers ahead of him; and they went away and entered into a Samaritan village, to prepare for him.

52 Und2532 er846 sandte649 Boten32 vor4253 sich848 hin4198; die gingen hin und2532 kamen1525 in1519 einen Markt2968 der Samariter4541, daß5620 sie ihm Herberge bestelleten.

53 But they did not receive him, because his face was set to go straight to Jerusalem.

53 Und2532 sie846 nahmen1209 ihn846 nicht3756 an, darum daß3754 er1209 sein Angesicht4383 gewendet hatte2258, zu1519 wandeln4198 gen Jerusalem2419.

54 When his disciples James and John saw it, they said to him, Our Lord, would you be willing that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?

54 Da aber1161 das seine846 Jünger3101, Jakobus2385 und2532 Johannes2491 sahen1492, sprachen2036 sie846: HErr2962, willst du, so2532 wollen2309 wir sagen2036, daß Feuer4442 vom575 Himmel3772 falle2597 und2532 verzehre355 sie, wie5613 Elia2243 tat4160.

55 He turned and rebuked them and said, You do not know of what spirit you are.

55 JEsus2008 aber1161 wandte sich4762 und2532 bedräuete sie3634 und sprach2036: Wisset1492 ihr846 nicht3756, welches Geistes4151 Kinder ihr5210 seid2075?

56 For the Son of man did not come to destroy lives, but to save. And they went to another village.

56 Des2532 Menschen444 Sohn ist2064 nicht3756 kommen2064, der Menschen444 Seelen5590 zu1063 verderben622, sondern235 zu1519 erhalten4982.

57 And while they were on the journey, a man said to him, My Lord, I will follow you wherever you go.

57 Und sie846 gingen4198 in1722 einen andern Markt. Es begab1096 sich aber1161, da sie auf dem Wege3598 waren, sprach2036 einer5100 zu4314 ihm: Ich302 will dir4671 folgen190, wo du hingehest.

58 Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the fowl of the sky a shelter; but the Son of man has no place even to lay his head.

58 Und2532 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu ihm: Die Füchse258 haben2192 Gruben5454, und2532 die Vögel4071 unter dem Himmel3772 haben2192 Nester2682, aber1161 des Menschen444 Sohn hat nicht3756, da4226 er846 sein Haupt2776 hinlege.

59 He said to another, Follow me; but he said to him, My Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.

59 Und1161 er sprach2036 zu4314 einem andern2087: Folge mir3427 nach190! Der sprach2036 aber1161: HErr2962, erlaube2010 mir3427, daß ich zuvor hingehe565 und4412 meinen3450 Vater3962 begrabe2290.

60 Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead; but you go and preach the kingdom of God.

60 Aber1161 JEsus2424 sprach2036 zu ihm846: Laß863 die Toten3498 ihre1438 Toten3498 begraben2290; gehe du4771 aber1161 hin565 und verkündige1229 das932 Reich Gottes2316.

61 Another one said to him, I will follow you, my Lord; but permit me first to entrust my household to some one, and then come.

61 Und2532 ein anderer2087 sprach2036: HErr2962, ich will dir4671 nachfolgen190; aber1161 erlaube2010 mir3427 zuvor4412, daß ich einen Abschied mache657 mit denen, die in1519 meinem3450 Hause3624 sind.

62 Jesus said to him, No man who puts his hand on the plough handle, and looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

62 JEsus2424 aber1161 sprach2036 zu4314 ihm: Wer seine846 Hand5495 an1909 den Pflug723 leget und2532 siehet zurück3694, der ist2076 nicht3762 geschickt2111 zum Reich932 Gottes2316.
