Chapter 6

1 AND Jesus went out from thence, and came to his city; and his disciples followed him.

2 When the sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were surprised, and said, Whence did he receive all this? and what wisdom is this which is given to him, that wonders like these are wrought by his hands?

3 Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? and behold, are not his sisters here with us? And they denounced him.

4 And Jesus said to them, There is no prophet who is insulted, except in his own city, and among his own brothers, and in his own house.

5 And he could not perform even a single miracle there, except that he laid his hand on a few sick people and healed them.

6 And he wondered at their lack of faith. And he travelled in the villages teaching.

7 Then he called his twelve, and began to send them two by two; and he gave them power over the unclean spirits, to cast them out.

8 And he commanded them not to take anything for the journey, except a staff only; no bag, no bread, no copper money in their purses;

9 But to wear sandals, and not to wear two shirts.

10 And he said to them, Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that place.

11 And whoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when you leave that place, shake off the sand under your feet as a testimony to them. Truly I say to you, It will be easier for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

12 And they went out and preached that they should repent.

13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and they were healed.

14 And Herod the king heard about Jesus, for his name was known to him; and he said, John the Baptist has risen from the dead; this is why miracles are worked by him.

15 Others said, He is Elijah. And yet others, He is a prophet, just like one of the prophets.

16 But when Herod heard it, he said, John, whom I beheaded; it is he who has risen from the dead.

17 For this same Herod had sent out and arrested John, and cast him in prison, because of Herodias, wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married.

18 For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for you to marry your brother's wife.

19 But Herodias was bitter towards him, and wanted to kill him; but she could not.

20 For Herod was afraid of John, because he knew that he was a righteous and holy man, and he guarded him; and he heard that he was doing a great many things, and he heard him gladly.

21 Then came a state day, when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet to his officials, and captains, and the leading men of Galilee.

22 And the daughter of Herodias entered in and danced, and she pleased Herod and the guests who were with him; and the king said to the little girl, Ask me whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.

23 And he swore to her, Whatever you ask me, I will give you, as much as half of my kingdom.

24 She went out and said to her mother, What shall I ask him? She said to her, The head of John the Baptist.

25 And immediately she entered cautiously to the king, and said to him, I do wish in this very hour that you may give me on a tray the head of John the Baptist.

26 And the king was exceedingly sorry; but because of the oaths, and because of the guests, he did not wish to refuse her.

27 So the king immediately sent the executioner, and commanded to bring the head of John. And he went and beheaded John in the prison,

28 And brought it on a tray and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his body and buried it in a grave.

30 And the apostles gathered together unto Jesus, and told him everything they had done, and what they had taught.

31 And he said to them, Come, let us go to the wilderness all alone, and rest awhile; for there were many coming and going, and they had no chance even to eat.

32 So they went away in a boat to a desert place by themselves.

33 And many people saw them when they were leaving, and they knew them, and from all the cities they hurried by land and reached the place before him.

34 And when Jesus went out he saw large crowds, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them a great many things.

35 And when it was getting late, his disciples came up to him and said to him, This is a desert place, and it is getting late;

36 Dismiss them, so that they may go away to the farms and villages around us, and buy bread for themselves; for they have nothing to eat.

37 He said to them, You give them to eat. They said to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred penny's worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?

38 He said to them, Go and see how many loaves of bread you have got here. And when they found out, they said to him, Five loaves of bread and two fish.

39 And he commanded them to make everyone sit down in groups on the grass.

40 So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties.

41 Then he took the five loaves of bread and the two fish, and he looked up to heaven, and he blessed and broke the loaves of bread, and gave them to his disciples to place before them; and they divided the two fish among them all.

42 And they all ate and were satisfied.

43 And they took up the fragments of bread, twelve full baskets, and also of the fish.

44 And those who ate the bread were five thousand men.

45 And immediately he urged his disciples to go up into the boat, and go in advance of him to the port at Bethsaida, while he dismissed the people.

46 And when he had dismissed them, he went up to the mountain to pray.

47 When evening came, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land.

48 And he saw them struggling as they were rowing, for the wind was against them; and in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the water, and he wanted to pass by them.

49 But when they saw him walking on the water, they thought it was a false vision, and they cried out;

50 For they all saw him and were frightened. And immediately he spoke to them and said, Have courage, it is I, do not be afraid.

51 And he went up to them into the boat, and the wind quieted down; and they marvelled exceedingly, and were astonished in themselves.

52 For they did not understand the miracle of the loaves of bread, because their hearts were confused.

53 And when they had crossed to the port, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

54 And when they went out of the boat, the people of that place immediately knew him.

55 And they came running throughout that land; and began to bring those who were seriously sick, carrying them in quilt-beds, where they heard he was.

56 And wherever he entered into villages and cities, they laid the sick in the streets, and begged him even to touch the edge of his robe; and all who touched him were healed.

Ich302 sage3004 euch5216: Wahrlich281, es wird1209 Sodom4670 und Gomorra1116 am1722 Jüngsten2250 Gerichte2920 erträglicher414 ergehen denn2228 solcher Stadt4172.

12 Und2532 sie gingen aus1831 und predigten2784, man sollte Buße tun3340.

13 Und2532 trieben viele4183 Teufel1140 aus1544 und2532 salbeten viele4183 Sieche732 mit Öl1637 und2532 machten sie gesund2323.

14 Und2532 es3754 kam191 vor1722 den König935 Herodes (denn1063 sein Name3686 war1096 nun bekannt5318); und2532 er846 sprach3004: Johannes2491 der Täufer907 ist2532 von1537 den Toten3498 auferstanden1453; darum5124 tut1754 er solche Taten1411.

15 Etliche243 aber3754 sprachen3004: Er ist2076 Elia2243; etliche243 aber1161: Er ist2076 ein Prophet4396 oder2228 einer1520 von den Propheten4396.

16 Da es846 aber1161 Herodes hörete, sprach2036 er3778: Es ist2076 Johannes2491, den ich1473 enthauptet607 habe191; der3739 ist von1537 den Toten3498 auferstanden1453.

17 Er846 aber1223, Herodes, hatte1060 ausgesandt649 und2532 Johannes2491 gegriffen2902 und3754 ins Gefängnis5438 gelegt1210 um1722 der Herodias2266 willen1223, seines Bruders80 Philippus5376 Weib1135; denn1063 er hatte sie gefreiet.

18 Johannes2491 aber1063 sprach3004 zu Herodes: Es ist1832 nicht3756 recht1832, daß du4671 deines4675 Bruders80 Weib1135 habest2192.

19 Herodias2266 aber1161 stellete ihm846 nach und2532 wollte2309 ihn846 töten615 und2532 konnte1410 nicht3756.

20 Herodes aber fürchtete Johannes2491; denn1063 er5399 wußte1492, daß er846 ein frommer1342 und2532 heiliger40 Mann435 war; und2532 verwahrete ihn846 und2532 gehorchte191 ihm846 in vielen4183 Sachen und2532 hörete ihn846 gerne.

21 Und2532 es kam1096 ein gelegener2121 Tag2250, daß3753 Herodes auf1077 seinen Jahrstag ein Abendmahl1173 gab4160 den Obersten und2532 Hauptleuten5506 und Vornehmsten4413 in Galiläa1056.

22 Da2532 trat hinein1525 die Tochter2364 der Herodias2266 und2532 tanzete, und2532 gefiel700 wohl dem846 Herodes und2532 denen, die am Tisch saßen4873. Da2532 sprach2036 der König935 zum Mägdlein2877: Bitte154 von mir3165, was1437 du willst; ich will2309 dir4671‘s geben1325.

23 Und2532 schwur3660 ihr846 einen Eid: Was1437 du wirst von mir3165 bitten154, will ich dir4671 geben1325, bis2193 an die Hälfte2255 meines3450 Königreichs.

24 Sie1161 ging hinaus1831 und1161 sprach2036 zu ihrer Mutter3384: Was5101 soll ich bitten154? Die sprach2036: Das Haupt2776 Johannes2491 des Täufers910.

25 Und2532 sie1325 ging bald2112 hinein1525 mit3326 Eile4710 zum Könige935, bat154 und sprach3004: Ich will2309, daß4314 du mir3427 gebest jetzt sobald auf1909 einer Schüssel4094 das2443 Haupt2776 Johannes2491 des Täufers910.

26 Der König935 ward1096 betrübt4036; doch um1223 des Eides3727 willen und2532 derer, die3588 am Tische saßen4873, wollte2309 er846 sie nicht2532 lassen eine Fehlbitte tun114.

27 Und2532 bald2112 schickte hin649 der König935 den Henker4688 und1161 hieß2004 sein846 Haupt2776 herbringen5342. Der ging565 hin und enthauptete607 ihn846 im1722 Gefängnis5438.

28 Und2532 trug her5342 sein846 Haupt2776 auf1909 einer Schüssel4094 und2532 gab‘s1325 dem846 Mägdlein2877, und2532 das846 Mägdlein2877 gab‘s1325 ihrer Mutter3384.

29 Und2532 da das seine846 Jünger3101 höreten, kamen2064 sie846 und2532 nahmen142 seinen846 Leib4430 und2532 legten5087 ihn in1722 ein Grab3419.

30 Und2532 die3745 Apostel652 kamen zu4314 JEsu2424 zusammen4863 und2532 verkündigten518 ihm das3956 alles, und2532 was3745 sie846 getan4160 und2532 gelehret hatten.

31 Und2532 er846 sprach2036 zu ihnen846: Lasset1205 uns5210 besonders2398 in1519 eine Wüste2048 gehen5217 und2532 ruhet ein wenig3641. Denn1063 ihrer war viel4183, die ab und2532 zu gingen2064, und2532 hatten2258 nicht3761 Zeit genug2119 zu essen5315.

32 Und2532 er fuhr565 da in1519 einem Schiff4143 zu einer Wüste2048 besonders2398.

33 Und2532 das1492 Volk3793 sah sie846 wegfahren, und2532 viele4183 kannten1921 ihn846 und2532 liefen4936 daselbst1563 hin5217 miteinander zu4314 Fuß3979 aus575 allen3956 Städten4172 und2532 kamen4281 ihnen846 zuvor und2532 kamen4905 zu ihm846.

34 Und2532 JEsus2424 ging heraus1831 und2532 sah das1492 große4183 Volk3793; und2532 es jammerte4697 ihn846 derselben, denn3754 sie846 waren2258 wie5613 die Schafe4263, die keinen3361 Hirten4166 haben2192; und fing756 an1909 eine lange4183 Predigt.

35 Da nun2235 der Tag5610 fast dahin4183 war1096, traten seine846 Jünger3101 zu4334 ihm846 und2532 sprachen: Es5117 ist2076 wüste2048 hier, und2532 der Tag5610 ist nun2235 dahin4183.

36 Laß630 sie846 von dir630, daß2443 sie hingehen565 umher2945 in1519 die Dörfer68 und2532 Märkte2968 und kaufen59 sich1438 Brot740; denn1063 sie haben2192 nicht3756 zu essen5315.

37 JEsus aber1161 antwortete611 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihnen846: Gebet1325 ihr846 ihnen zu essen5315! Und2532 sie846 sprachen3004 zu ihm846: Sollen wir denn hingehen565 und zweihundert1250 Pfennig wert Brot740 kaufen59 und ihnen zu essen5315 geben1325?

38 Er aber1161 sprach3004 zu ihnen: Wieviel4214 Brote740 habt2192 ihr846? Gehet hin5217 und2532 sehet1492! Und2532 da sie1097 es erkundet hatten, sprachen3004 sie: Fünf4002 und zwei1417 Fische2486.

39 Und2532 er846 gebot2004 ihnen, daß sie sich347 alle3956 lagerten bei Tischen voll auf1909 das grüne5515 Gras5528.

40 Und2532 sie setzten sich377 nach Schichten4237, je303 hundert1540 und hundert, fünfzig4004 und fünfzig.

41 Und2532 er846 nahm2983 die fünf4002 Brote740 und2532 zwei1417 Fische2486 und2532 sah auf308 gen Himmel3772 und2532 dankete und2532 brach2622 die Brote740 und gab1325 sie den Jüngern3101, daß2443 sie ihnen vorlegten3908; und die zwei1417 Fische2486 teilete er unter1519 sie alle3956.

42 Und2532 sie aßen5315 alle3956 und2532 wurden satt5526.

43 Und2532 sie huben auf142 die Brocken2801, zwölf1427 Körbe2894 voll4134, und2532 von575 den Fischen2486.

44 Und2532 die da740 gegessen hatten5315, der waren2258 fünftausend4000 Mann435.

45 Und2532 alsbald2112 trieb315 er seine846 Jünger3101, daß4314 sie in1519 das Schiff4143 träten1684 und2532 vor4254 ihm hinüberführen4254 gen1519 Bethsaida966, bis2193 daß er das Volk3793 von sich848 ließe630.

46 Und2532 da er846 sie von sich geschafft hatte657, ging565 er hin auf1519 einen Berg3735, zu beten4336.

47 Und2532 am1722 Abend3798 war1096 das Schiff4143 mitten3319 auf1909 dem846 Meer2281 und2532 er2258 auf dem Lande1093 alleine.

48 Und2532 er846 sah1492, daß4314 sie Not928 litten im1909 Rudern1643; denn1063 der Wind417 war2258 ihnen entgegen1727. Und2532 um4012 die vierte5067 Wache5438 der Nacht3571 kam2064 er zu1722 ihnen und2532 wandelte4043 auf dem Meer2281.

49 Und1161 er846 wollte vor ihnen übergehen. Und2532 da sie ihn sahen1492 auf1909 dem Meer2281 wandeln4043, meineten sie, es wäre1511 ein Gespenst5326, und schrieen349.

50 Denn1063 sie846 sahen1492 ihn alle3956 und2532 erschraken5015. Aber alsbald2112 redete2980 er846 mit3326 ihnen846 und2532 sprach3004 zu ihnen: Seid getrost2293; ich1473 bin‘s1510 fürchtet5399 euch5399 nicht2532!

51 Und2532 trat305 zu4314 ihnen ins1519 Schiff4143, und2532 der Wind417 legte sich2869. Und2532 sie846 entsetzten1839 sich1438 und2532 verwunderten2296 sich über1722 die Maßen1537.

52 Denn1063 sie4920 waren nichts3756 verständiger worden über1909 den Broten740, und1063 ihr846 Herz2588 war2258 erstarret.

53 Und2532 da sie hinübergefahren waren1276, kamen2064 sie in das Land1093 Genezareth1082 und2532 fuhren an1909.

54 Und2532 da sie846 aus1831 dem1537 Schiff4143 traten, alsbald2112 kannten1921 sie ihn

56 Und2532 wo er846 in1519 die Märkte oder2228 Städte4172 oder2228 Dörfer68 einging1531, da2532 legten5087 sie846 die Kranken770 auf den Markt2968 und302 baten3870 ihn846, daß2443 sie302 nur2579 den Saum2899 seines Kleides2440 an1722 rühren möchten. 7 Then he called his twelve, and began to send them two by two; and he gave them power over the unclean spirits, to cast them out.

7 Und2532 er846 berief4341 die Zwölfe und2532 hub an756 und2532 sandte649 sie846 je zwei1417 und zwei1417 und gab1325 ihnen Macht1849 über die unsauberen169 Geister4151.

8 And he commanded them not to take anything for the journey, except a staff only; no bag, no bread, no copper money in their purses;

8 Und2532 gebot3853 ihnen, daß2443 sie846 nichts3367 bei1519 sich trügen auf142 dem Wege3598 denn1508 allein3440 einen Stab4464, keine3361 Tasche4082, kein3361 Brot740, kein3361 Geld5475 im1519 Gürtel2223,

10 Und2532 sprach3004 zu ihnen: Wo1437 ihr846 in1519 ein1525 Haus3614 gehen werdet, da1563 bleibet3306 innen, bis ihr302 von1564 dannen ziehet.

11 And whoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when you leave that place, shake off the sand under your feet as a testimony to them. Truly I say to you, It will be easier for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

11 Und2532 welche euch5209 nicht3361 aufnehmen1209 noch3366 hören191, da1564 gehet1607 von5270 dannen heraus und2228 schüttelt1621 den1565 Staub5522 ab von euren5216 Füßen4228 zu1519 einem Zeugnis3142 über sie846. Ich302 sage3004 euch5216: Wahrlich281, es wird1209 Sodom4670 und Gomorra1116 am1722 Jüngsten2250 Gerichte2920 erträglicher414 ergehen denn2228 solcher Stadt4172.

12 And they went out and preached that they should repent.

12 Und2532 sie gingen aus1831 und predigten2784, man sollte Buße tun3340.

13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and they were healed.

13 Und2532 trieben viele4183 Teufel1140 aus1544 und2532 salbeten viele4183 Sieche732 mit Öl1637 und2532 machten sie gesund2323.

14 And Herod the king heard about Jesus, for his name was known to him; and he said, John the Baptist has risen from the dead; this is why miracles are worked by him.

14 Und2532 es3754 kam191 vor1722 den König935 Herodes (denn1063 sein Name3686 war1096 nun bekannt5318); und2532 er846 sprach3004: Johannes2491 der Täufer907 ist2532 von1537 den Toten3498 auferstanden1453; darum5124 tut1754 er solche Taten1411.

15 Others said, He is Elijah. And yet others, He is a prophet, just like one of the prophets.

15 Etliche243 aber3754 sprachen3004: Er ist2076 Elia2243; etliche243 aber1161: Er ist2076 ein Prophet4396 oder2228 einer1520 von den Propheten4396.

16 But when Herod heard it, he said, John, whom I beheaded; it is he who has risen from the dead.

16 Da es846 aber1161 Herodes hörete, sprach2036 er3778: Es ist2076 Johannes2491, den ich1473 enthauptet607 habe191; der3739 ist von1537 den Toten3498 auferstanden1453.

17 For this same Herod had sent out and arrested John, and cast him in prison, because of Herodias, wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married.

17 Er846 aber1223, Herodes, hatte1060 ausgesandt649 und2532 Johannes2491 gegriffen2902 und3754 ins Gefängnis5438 gelegt1210 um1722 der Herodias2266 willen1223, seines Bruders80 Philippus5376 Weib1135; denn1063 er hatte sie gefreiet.

18 For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for you to marry your brother's wife.

18 Johannes2491 aber1063 sprach3004 zu Herodes: Es ist1832 nicht3756 recht1832, daß du4671 deines4675 Bruders80 Weib1135 habest2192.

19 But Herodias was bitter towards him, and wanted to kill him; but she could not.

19 Herodias2266 aber1161 stellete ihm846 nach und2532 wollte2309 ihn846 töten615 und2532 konnte1410 nicht3756.

20 For Herod was afraid of John, because he knew that he was a righteous and holy man, and he guarded him; and he heard that he was doing a great many things, and he heard him gladly.

20 Herodes aber fürchtete Johannes2491; denn1063 er5399 wußte1492, daß er846 ein frommer1342 und2532 heiliger40 Mann435 war; und2532 verwahrete ihn846 und2532 gehorchte191 ihm846 in vielen4183 Sachen und2532 hörete ihn846 gerne.

21 Then came a state day, when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet to his officials, and captains, and the leading men of Galilee.

21 Und2532 es kam1096 ein gelegener2121 Tag2250, daß3753 Herodes auf1077 seinen Jahrstag ein Abendmahl1173 gab4160 den Obersten und2532 Hauptleuten5506 und Vornehmsten4413 in Galiläa1056.

22 And the daughter of Herodias entered in and danced, and she pleased Herod and the guests who were with him; and the king said to the little girl, Ask me whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.

22 Da2532 trat hinein1525 die Tochter2364 der Herodias2266 und2532 tanzete, und2532 gefiel700 wohl dem846 Herodes und2532 denen, die am Tisch saßen4873. Da2532 sprach2036 der König935 zum Mägdlein2877: Bitte154 von mir3165, was1437 du willst; ich will2309 dir4671‘s geben1325.

23 And he swore to her, Whatever you ask me, I will give you, as much as half of my kingdom.

23 Und2532 schwur3660 ihr846 einen Eid: Was1437 du wirst von mir3165 bitten154, will ich dir4671 geben1325, bis2193 an die Hälfte2255 meines3450 Königreichs.

24 She went out and said to her mother, What shall I ask him? She said to her, The head of John the Baptist.

24 Sie1161 ging hinaus1831 und1161 sprach2036 zu ihrer Mutter3384: Was5101 soll ich bitten154? Die sprach2036: Das Haupt2776 Johannes2491 des Täufers910.

25 And immediately she entered cautiously to the king, and said to him, I do wish in this very hour that you may give me on a tray the head of John the Baptist.

25 Und2532 sie1325 ging bald2112 hinein1525 mit3326 Eile4710 zum Könige935, bat154 und sprach3004: Ich will2309, daß4314 du mir3427 gebest jetzt sobald auf1909 einer Schüssel4094 das2443 Haupt2776 Johannes2491 des Täufers910.

26 And the king was exceedingly sorry; but because of the oaths, and because of the guests, he did not wish to refuse her.

26 Der König935 ward1096 betrübt4036; doch um1223 des Eides3727 willen und2532 derer, die3588 am Tische saßen4873, wollte2309 er846 sie nicht2532 lassen eine Fehlbitte tun114.

27 So the king immediately sent the executioner, and commanded to bring the head of John. And he went and beheaded John in the prison,

27 Und2532 bald2112 schickte hin649 der König935 den Henker4688 und1161 hieß2004 sein846 Haupt2776 herbringen5342. Der ging565 hin und enthauptete607 ihn846 im1722 Gefängnis5438.

28 And brought it on a tray and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.

28 Und2532 trug her5342 sein846 Haupt2776 auf1909 einer Schüssel4094 und2532 gab‘s1325 dem846 Mägdlein2877, und2532 das846 Mägdlein2877 gab‘s1325 ihrer Mutter3384.

29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his body and buried it in a grave.

29 Und2532 da das seine846 Jünger3101 höreten, kamen2064 sie846 und2532 nahmen142 seinen846 Leib4430 und2532 legten5087 ihn in1722 ein Grab3419.

30 And the apostles gathered together unto Jesus, and told him everything they had done, and what they had taught.

30 Und2532 die3745 Apostel652 kamen zu4314 JEsu2424 zusammen4863 und2532 verkündigten518 ihm das3956 alles, und2532 was3745 sie846 getan4160 und2532 gelehret hatten.

31 And he said to them, Come, let us go to the wilderness all alone, and rest awhile; for there were many coming and going, and they had no chance even to eat.

31 Und2532 er846 sprach2036 zu ihnen846: Lasset1205 uns5210 besonders2398 in1519 eine Wüste2048 gehen5217 und2532 ruhet ein wenig3641. Denn1063 ihrer war viel4183, die ab und2532 zu gingen2064, und2532 hatten2258 nicht3761 Zeit genug2119 zu essen5315.

32 So they went away in a boat to a desert place by themselves.

32 Und2532 er fuhr565 da in1519 einem Schiff4143 zu einer Wüste2048 besonders2398.

33 And many people saw them when they were leaving, and they knew them, and from all the cities they hurried by land and reached the place before him.

33 Und2532 das1492 Volk3793 sah sie846 wegfahren, und2532 viele4183 kannten1921 ihn846 und2532 liefen4936 daselbst1563 hin5217 miteinander zu4314 Fuß3979 aus575 allen3956 Städten4172 und2532 kamen4281 ihnen846 zuvor und2532 kamen4905 zu ihm846.

34 And when Jesus went out he saw large crowds, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them a great many things.

34 Und2532 JEsus2424 ging heraus1831 und2532 sah das1492 große4183 Volk3793; und2532 es jammerte4697 ihn846 derselben, denn3754 sie846 waren2258 wie5613 die Schafe4263, die keinen3361 Hirten4166 haben2192; und fing756 an1909 eine lange4183 Predigt.

35 And when it was getting late, his disciples came up to him and said to him, This is a desert place, and it is getting late;

35 Da nun2235 der Tag5610 fast dahin4183 war1096, traten seine846 Jünger3101 zu4334 ihm846 und2532 sprachen: Es5117 ist2076 wüste2048 hier, und2532 der Tag5610 ist nun2235 dahin4183.

36 Dismiss them, so that they may go away to the farms and villages around us, and buy bread for themselves; for they have nothing to eat.

36 Laß630 sie846 von dir630, daß2443 sie hingehen565 umher2945 in1519 die Dörfer68 und2532 Märkte2968 und kaufen59 sich1438 Brot740; denn1063 sie haben2192 nicht3756 zu essen5315.

37 He said to them, You give them to eat. They said to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred penny's worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?

37 JEsus aber1161 antwortete611 und2532 sprach2036 zu ihnen846: Gebet1325 ihr846 ihnen zu essen5315! Und2532 sie846 sprachen3004 zu ihm846: Sollen wir denn hingehen565 und zweihundert1250 Pfennig wert Brot740 kaufen59 und ihnen zu essen5315 geben1325?

38 He said to them, Go and see how many loaves of bread you have got here. And when they found out, they said to him, Five loaves of bread and two fish.

38 Er aber1161 sprach3004 zu ihnen: Wieviel4214 Brote740 habt2192 ihr846? Gehet hin5217 und2532 sehet1492! Und2532 da sie1097 es erkundet hatten, sprachen3004 sie: Fünf4002 und zwei1417 Fische2486.

39 And he commanded them to make everyone sit down in groups on the grass.

39 Und2532 er846 gebot2004 ihnen, daß sie sich347 alle3956 lagerten bei Tischen voll auf1909 das grüne5515 Gras5528.

40 So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties.

40 Und2532 sie setzten sich377 nach Schichten4237, je303 hundert1540 und hundert, fünfzig4004 und fünfzig.

41 Then he took the five loaves of bread and the two fish, and he looked up to heaven, and he blessed and broke the loaves of bread, and gave them to his disciples to place before them; and they divided the two fish among them all.

41 Und2532 er846 nahm2983 die fünf4002 Brote740 und2532 zwei1417 Fische2486 und2532 sah auf308 gen Himmel3772 und2532 dankete und2532 brach2622 die Brote740 und gab1325 sie den Jüngern3101, daß2443 sie ihnen vorlegten3908; und die zwei1417 Fische2486 teilete er unter1519 sie alle3956.

42 And they all ate and were satisfied.

42 Und2532 sie aßen5315 alle3956 und2532 wurden satt5526.

43 And they took up the fragments of bread, twelve full baskets, and also of the fish.

43 Und2532 sie huben auf142 die Brocken2801, zwölf1427 Körbe2894 voll4134, und2532 von575 den Fischen2486.

44 And those who ate the bread were five thousand men.

44 Und2532 die da740 gegessen hatten5315, der waren2258 fünftausend4000 Mann435.

45 And immediately he urged his disciples to go up into the boat, and go in advance of him to the port at Bethsaida, while he dismissed the people.

45 Und2532 alsbald2112 trieb315 er seine846 Jünger3101, daß4314 sie in1519 das Schiff4143 träten1684 und2532 vor4254 ihm hinüberführen4254 gen1519 Bethsaida966, bis2193 daß er das Volk3793 von sich848 ließe630.

46 And when he had dismissed them, he went up to the mountain to pray.

46 Und2532 da er846 sie von sich geschafft hatte657, ging565 er hin auf1519 einen Berg3735, zu beten4336.

47 When evening came, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land.

47 Und2532 am1722 Abend3798 war1096 das Schiff4143 mitten3319 auf1909 dem846 Meer2281 und2532 er2258 auf dem Lande1093 alleine.

48 And he saw them struggling as they were rowing, for the wind was against them; and in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the water, and he wanted to pass by them.

48 Und2532 er846 sah1492, daß4314 sie Not928 litten im1909 Rudern1643; denn1063 der Wind417 war2258 ihnen entgegen1727. Und2532 um4012 die vierte5067 Wache5438 der Nacht3571 kam2064 er zu1722 ihnen und2532 wandelte4043 auf dem Meer2281.

49 But when they saw him walking on the water, they thought it was a false vision, and they cried out;

49 Und1161 er846 wollte vor ihnen übergehen. Und2532 da sie ihn sahen1492 auf1909 dem Meer2281 wandeln4043, meineten sie, es wäre1511 ein Gespenst5326, und schrieen349.

50 For they all saw him and were frightened. And immediately he spoke to them and said, Have courage, it is I, do not be afraid.

50 Denn1063 sie846 sahen1492 ihn alle3956 und2532 erschraken5015. Aber alsbald2112 redete2980 er846 mit3326 ihnen846 und2532 sprach3004 zu ihnen: Seid getrost2293; ich1473 bin‘s1510 fürchtet5399 euch5399 nicht2532!

51 And he went up to them into the boat, and the wind quieted down; and they marvelled exceedingly, and were astonished in themselves.

51 Und2532 trat305 zu4314 ihnen ins1519 Schiff4143, und2532 der Wind417 legte sich2869. Und2532 sie846 entsetzten1839 sich1438 und2532 verwunderten2296 sich über1722 die Maßen1537.

52 For they did not understand the miracle of the loaves of bread, because their hearts were confused.

52 Denn1063 sie4920 waren nichts3756 verständiger worden über1909 den Broten740, und1063 ihr846 Herz2588 war2258 erstarret.

53 And when they had crossed to the port, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

53 Und2532 da sie hinübergefahren waren1276, kamen2064 sie in das Land1093 Genezareth1082 und2532 fuhren an1909.

54 And when they went out of the boat, the people of that place immediately knew him.

54 Und2532 da sie846 aus1831 dem1537 Schiff4143 traten, alsbald2112 kannten1921 sie ihn

55 And they came running throughout that land; and began to bring those who were seriously sick, carrying them in quilt-beds, where they heard he was.

55 und liefen4063 alle3650 in die1565 umliegenden Länder4066 und huben an756, die191 Kranken2560 umherzuführen4064 auf1909 Betten2895, wo3699 sie höreten, daß er2076 war2192.

56 And wherever he entered into villages and cities, they laid the sick in the streets, and begged him even to touch the edge of his robe; and all who touched him were healed.

56 Und2532 wo er846 in1519 die Märkte oder2228 Städte4172 oder2228 Dörfer68 einging1531, da2532 legten5087 sie846 die Kranken770 auf den Markt2968 und302 baten3870 ihn846, daß2443 sie302 nur2579 den Saum2899 seines Kleides2440 an1722 rühren möchten. Und2532 alle3745, die ihn anrühreten, wurden gesund4982.
