Chapter 9

1 AND as Jesus passed by he saw a man who was blind from his mother's womb.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Teacher, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus said to them, Neither did he sin nor his parents. But that the works of God might be seen in him,

4 I must do the works of him who sent me, while it is day; the night comes when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he said these words, he spat on the ground, and mixed clay with his saliva, and he placed it on the eyes of the blind man.

7 Then he said to him, Go and wash in the baptismal pool of Siloam. He went and washed, and he came seeing.

8 His neighbors and those who had seen him before begging, said, Is not this he who used to sit down and beg?

9 Some said, It is he; and some said, No, but he resembles him; but he said, I am he.

10 Then they said to him, How were your eyes opened?

11 He answered and said to them, A man whose name is Jesus made clay and placed it on my eyes, and he said to me, Go and wash in the water of Siloam; and I went and washed, and I see.

12 They said to him, Where is he? He said to them, I do not know.

13 So they brought to the Pharisees him who had been blind from his birth.

14 Now it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

15 Again the Pharisees asked him, How did you receive your sight? He said to them, He placed clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.

16 Then some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he does not observe the sabbath; others said, How can a man who is a sinner do these miracles? And there was a division among them.

17 They said to the blind man again, What do you say concerning him who opened your eyes? He said to them, I say he is a prophet.

18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.

19 And they asked them, Is this your son, who you say was born blind? how then does he now see?

20 His parents answered and said, We know that he is our son, and that he was born blind.

21 But how he sees now, or who opened his eyes, we do not know; he is of age, ask him, he will speak for himself.

22 His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had decided already, that if any man should confess that he is the Christ, they would put him out of the synagogue.

23 For this reason his parents said, He is of age, ask him.

24 So they called a second time the man who had been blind, and said to him, Give praise to God, for we know that this man is a sinner.

25 He answered and said to them, If he is a sinner I do not know; but I do know one thing, that I was blind, and now behold, I see.

26 They said to him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?

27 He said to them, I have already told you, and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? why, do you also want to become his disciples?

28 Then they cursed him, and said to him, You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

29 And we know that God spoke with Moses; but as for this man, we do not know whence he is.

30 The man answered and said to them, This is surprising, that you do not know whence he is, and yet he opened my eyes.

31 We know that God does not hear the voice of sinners; but he hears the one who fears him and does his will.

32 From ages it has never been heard that a man opened the eyes of one who was born blind.

33 If this man were not from God, he could not have done this.

34 They answered and said to him, You were wholly born in sins, and yet do you teach us? And they cast him out.

35 And Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and he found him and said to him, Do you believe in the Son of God?

36 He who was healed answered and said, Who is he, my Lord, so that I may believe in him?

37 Jesus said to him, You have seen him, and he is the one who is speaking with you.

38 He said, I do believe, my Lord; and he fell down and worshipped him.

39 Then Jesus said to him, I have come for the judgment of this world, so that those who cannot see may see, and those who see may become blind.

40 When some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, they said to him, Why, are we also blind?

41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, We see; because of this your sin remains.

1 Однажды, проходя мимо, Иса увидел человека, слепого от рождения.

2 Ученики Его спросили: – Учитель, почему этот человек родился слепым? Кто согрешил: он сам или его родители?

3 – Нет, это не из-за его греха или греха его родителей, – ответил Иса, – это произошло для того, чтобы на нём были явлены дела Всевышнего.

4 Пока ещё день не кончился, мы должны совершать дела Того, Кто послал Меня. Наступает ночь, и тогда уже никто не сможет ничего делать.

5 Пока Я в мире, Я – свет миру.

6 Сказав это, Иса плюнул на землю, смешал слюну с землёй и помазал ею глаза слепому.

7 – А теперь пойди и умойся в пруду Силоам, – сказал Он слепому (Силоам значит: «Посланный»). Слепой пошёл, умылся и вернулся зрячим.

8 Соседи его и те, кто раньше видели его просящим милостыню, спрашивали: – Разве это не он сидел и просил милостыню?

9 Одни говорили: – Да, это он. Другие говорили: – Нет, он только похож на него. Исцелённый же утверждал: – Это я.

10 – Как же ты прозрел? – спрашивали они.

11 Он ответил: – Человек, Которого зовут Иса, смешал грязь и помазал мои глаза, потом Он сказал мне пойти в Силоам и умыться. Я пошёл, умылся и стал видеть.

12 – Где Этот Человек? – спрашивали они его. – Я не знаю, – отвечал исцелённый.

13 Человека, который раньше был слепым, привели к блюстителям Закона,

14 потому что Иса смешал грязь и открыл ему глаза в субботу.

15 Блюстители Закона тоже спросили его, как он обрёл зрение. – Он помазал мои глаза грязью, – ответил исцелённый, – я умылся и теперь вижу.

16 Некоторые блюстители Закона стали говорить: – Человек Этот не от Всевышнего, потому что Он делает то, что запрещается делать в субботу. Другие же спрашивали: – Как грешник может творить такие знамения?Мнения разделились.

17 Тогда они опять стали расспрашивать слепого: – Что ты сам можешь сказать о Нём? Это ведь твои глаза Он открыл. Человек ответил: – Он пророк.

18 Предводители иудеев всё ещё не верили, что он был слеп и что обрёл зрение, и поэтому позвали его родителей.

19 – Это ваш сын? – спросили они. – Это о нём вы говорите, что он родился слепым? Как же он может сейчас видеть?

20 – Мы знаем, что это наш сын, – ответили родители, – и мы знаем, что он родился слепым.

21 А как он сейчас может видеть и кто открыл его глаза, мы не знаем. Спросите его сами. Он уже совершеннолетний и может сам ответить за себя.

22 Родители так ответили из боязни перед предводителями иудеев, так как те уже вынесли решение о том, что кто признает Ису Масихом, тот будет отлучён от общества.

23 Поэтому родители и сказали: «Он уже совершеннолетний, спросите его самого».

24 Они во второй раз вызвали человека, который был слепым. – Воздай славу Всевышнему, – сказали они, – мы знаем, что Этот Человек грешник.

25 Исцелённый ответил: – Грешник Он или нет, я не знаю. Я знаю одно, что я был слеп, а сейчас вижу!

26 Они спросили: – Что Он с тобой сделал? Как Он открыл твои глаза?

27 Он ответил: – Я уже говорил вам, а вы не слушали. Зачем вы хотите ещё раз это услышать? Вы тоже хотите стать Его учениками?

28 Они стали оскорблять его и сказали: – Сам ты Его ученик! Мы ученики пророка Мусы!

29 Мы знаем, что с Мусой говорил Всевышний, а об Этом Человеке мы даже не знаем, откуда Он.

30 Исцелённый ответил: – Вот это-то и странно! Вы не знаете, откуда Он, а Он открыл мне глаза.

31 Мы знаем, что Всевышний грешников не слушает. Он слушает только тех, кто чтит Его и поступает по Его воле.

32 Ведь испокон веков никто не слышал, чтобы у рождённого слепым открылись глаза. .

33 И если бы Этот Человек не был от Всевышнего, то Он не смог бы сделать ничего такого.

34 Они на это ответили: – Ты был рождён в грехах, как ты смеешь нас учить! И они выгнали его вон. .

35 Иса, услышав о том, что блюстители Закона выгнали его вон, нашёл его и спросил: – Ты веришь в Ниспосланного как Человек?

36 – А кто Он, Господин? – спросил исцелённый. – Скажи мне, чтобы я в Него поверил.

37 Иса сказал: – Ты сейчас Его видишь, Он говорит с тобой.

38 Тогда человек ответил: – Повелитель, я верю, – и поклонился Исе.

39 Иса сказал: – Я пришёл в этот мир для суда, чтобы слепые видели, а те, кто видят, стали слепыми.

40 Блюстители Закона, которые были с Ним, слышали это и спросили: – Что? Мы, значит, тоже слепы?

41 Иса сказал: – Если бы вы были слепы, то греха не было бы на вас, но так как вы заявляете, что видите, то грех ваш на вас остаётся.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Teacher, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?	2 Ученики Его спросили: – Учитель, почему этот человек родился слепым? Кто согрешил: он сам или его родители?
3 Jesus said to them, Neither did he sin nor his parents. But that the works of God might be seen in him,	3 – Нет, это не из-за его греха или греха его родителей, – ответил Иса, – это произошло для того, чтобы на нём были явлены дела Всевышнего.
4 I must do the works of him who sent me, while it is day; the night comes when no man can work.	4 Пока ещё день не кончился, мы должны совершать дела Того, Кто послал Меня. Наступает ночь, и тогда уже никто не сможет ничего делать.

10 Then they said to him, How were your eyes opened?	10 – Как же ты прозрел? – спрашивали они.
11 He answered and said to them, A man whose name is Jesus made clay and placed it on my eyes, and he said to me, Go and wash in the water of Siloam; and I went and washed, and I see.	11 Он ответил: – Человек, Которого зовут Иса, смешал грязь и помазал мои глаза, потом Он сказал мне пойти в Силоам и умыться. Я пошёл, умылся и стал видеть.
12 They said to him, Where is he? He said to them, I do not know.	12 – Где Этот Человек? – спрашивали они его. – Я не знаю, – отвечал исцелённый.
13 So they brought to the Pharisees him who had been blind from his birth.	13 Человека, который раньше был слепым, привели к блюстителям Закона,
14 Now it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.	14 потому что Иса смешал грязь и открыл ему глаза в субботу.

17 They said to the blind man again, What do you say concerning him who opened your eyes? He said to them, I say he is a prophet.	17 Тогда они опять стали расспрашивать слепого: – Что ты сам можешь сказать о Нём? Это ведь твои глаза Он открыл. Человек ответил: – Он пророк.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.	18 Предводители иудеев всё ещё не верили, что он был слеп и что обрёл зрение, и поэтому позвали его родителей.
19 And they asked them, Is this your son, who you say was born blind? how then does he now see?	19 – Это ваш сын? – спросили они. – Это о нём вы говорите, что он родился слепым? Как же он может сейчас видеть?
20 His parents answered and said, We know that he is our son, and that he was born blind.	20 – Мы знаем, что это наш сын, – ответили родители, – и мы знаем, что он родился слепым.
21 But how he sees now, or who opened his eyes, we do not know; he is of age, ask him, he will speak for himself.	21 А как он сейчас может видеть и кто открыл его глаза, мы не знаем. Спросите его сами. Он уже совершеннолетний и может сам ответить за себя.
22 His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had decided already, that if any man should confess that he is the Christ, they would put him out of the synagogue.	22 Родители так ответили из боязни перед предводителями иудеев, так как те уже вынесли решение о том, что кто признает Ису Масихом, тот будет отлучён от общества.
23 For this reason his parents said, He is of age, ask him.	23 Поэтому родители и сказали: «Он уже совершеннолетний, спросите его самого».

28 Then they cursed him, and said to him, You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.	28 Они стали оскорблять его и сказали: – Сам ты Его ученик! Мы ученики пророка Мусы!
29 And we know that God spoke with Moses; but as for this man, we do not know whence he is.	29 Мы знаем, что с Мусой говорил Всевышний, а об Этом Человеке мы даже не знаем, откуда Он.
30 The man answered and said to them, This is surprising, that you do not know whence he is, and yet he opened my eyes.	30 Исцелённый ответил: – Вот это-то и странно! Вы не знаете, откуда Он, а Он открыл мне глаза.
31 We know that God does not hear the voice of sinners; but he hears the one who fears him and does his will.	31 Мы знаем, что Всевышний грешников не слушает. Он слушает только тех, кто чтит Его и поступает по Его воле.
32 From ages it has never been heard that a man opened the eyes of one who was born blind.	32 Ведь испокон веков никто не слышал, чтобы у рождённого слепым открылись глаза. .
33 If this man were not from God, he could not have done this.	33 И если бы Этот Человек не был от Всевышнего, то Он не смог бы сделать ничего такого.
34 They answered and said to him, You were wholly born in sins, and yet do you teach us? And they cast him out.	34 Они на это ответили: – Ты был рождён в грехах, как ты смеешь нас учить! И они выгнали его вон. .
35 And Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and he found him and said to him, Do you believe in the Son of God?	35 Иса, услышав о том, что блюстители Закона выгнали его вон, нашёл его и спросил: – Ты веришь в Ниспосланного как Человек?
36 He who was healed answered and said, Who is he, my Lord, so that I may believe in him?	36 – А кто Он, Господин? – спросил исцелённый. – Скажи мне, чтобы я в Него поверил.
37 Jesus said to him, You have seen him, and he is the one who is speaking with you.	37 Иса сказал: – Ты сейчас Его видишь, Он говорит с тобой.
38 He said, I do believe, my Lord; and he fell down and worshipped him.	38 Тогда человек ответил: – Повелитель, я верю, – и поклонился Исе.
39 Then Jesus said to him, I have come for the judgment of this world, so that those who cannot see may see, and those who see may become blind.	39 Иса сказал: – Я пришёл в этот мир для суда, чтобы слепые видели, а те, кто видят, стали слепыми.
40 When some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, they said to him, Why, are we also blind?	40 Блюстители Закона, которые были с Ним, слышали это и спросили: – Что? Мы, значит, тоже слепы?
41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, We see; because of this your sin remains.	41 Иса сказал: – Если бы вы были слепы, то греха не было бы на вас, но так как вы заявляете, что видите, то грех ваш на вас остаётся.
