1 AND as Jesus passed by he saw a man who was blind from his mother's womb. |
|
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Teacher, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? |
|
3 Jesus said to them, Neither did he sin nor his parents. But that the works of God might be seen in him, |
|
4 I must do the works of him who sent me, while it is day; the night comes when no man can work. |
|
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. |
|
6 When he said these words, he spat on the ground, and mixed clay with his saliva, and he placed it on the eyes of the blind man. |
|
7 Then he said to him, Go and wash in the baptismal pool of Siloam. He went and washed, and he came seeing. |
|
8 His neighbors and those who had seen him before begging, said, Is not this he who used to sit down and beg? |
|
9 Some said, It is he; and some said, No, but he resembles him; but he said, I am he. |
|
10 Then they said to him, How were your eyes opened? |
|
11 He answered and said to them, A man whose name is Jesus made clay and placed it on my eyes, and he said to me, Go and wash in the water of Siloam; and I went and washed, and I see. |
|
12 They said to him, Where is he? He said to them, I do not know. |
|
13 So they brought to the Pharisees him who had been blind from his birth. |
|
14 Now it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. |
|
15 Again the Pharisees asked him, How did you receive your sight? He said to them, He placed clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see. |
|
16 Then some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he does not observe the sabbath; others said, How can a man who is a sinner do these miracles? And there was a division among them. |
|
17 They said to the blind man again, What do you say concerning him who opened your eyes? He said to them, I say he is a prophet. |
|
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight. |
|
19 And they asked them, Is this your son, who you say was born blind? how then does he now see? |
|
20 His parents answered and said, We know that he is our son, and that he was born blind. |
|
21 But how he sees now, or who opened his eyes, we do not know; he is of age, ask him, he will speak for himself. |
|
22 His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had decided already, that if any man should confess that he is the Christ, they would put him out of the synagogue. |
|
23 For this reason his parents said, He is of age, ask him. |
|
24 So they called a second time the man who had been blind, and said to him, Give praise to God, for we know that this man is a sinner. |
|
25 He answered and said to them, If he is a sinner I do not know; but I do know one thing, that I was blind, and now behold, I see. |
|
26 They said to him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes? |
|
27 He said to them, I have already told you, and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? why, do you also want to become his disciples? |
|
28 Then they cursed him, and said to him, You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. |
|
29 And we know that God spoke with Moses; but as for this man, we do not know whence he is. |
|
30 The man answered and said to them, This is surprising, that you do not know whence he is, and yet he opened my eyes. |
|
31 We know that God does not hear the voice of sinners; but he hears the one who fears him and does his will. |
|
32 From ages it has never been heard that a man opened the eyes of one who was born blind. |
|
33 If this man were not from God, he could not have done this. |
|
34 They answered and said to him, You were wholly born in sins, and yet do you teach us? And they cast him out. |
|
35 And Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and he found him and said to him, Do you believe in the Son of God? |
|
36 He who was healed answered and said, Who is he, my Lord, so that I may believe in him? |
|
37 Jesus said to him, You have seen him, and he is the one who is speaking with you. |
|
38 He said, I do believe, my Lord; and he fell down and worshipped him. |
|
39 Then Jesus said to him, I have come for the judgment of this world, so that those who cannot see may see, and those who see may become blind. |
|
40 When some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, they said to him, Why, are we also blind? |
|
41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, We see; because of this your sin remains. |

2 І спитали Його учні Його, говорячи: „Учителю, хто згрішив: чи він сам, чи батьки його, що сліпим він родився?“ |
|
3 Ісус відповів: „Не згрішив ані він, ні батьки його, а щоб діла Божі з'явились на ньому. |
|
4 Ми мусимо виконувати діла Того, Хто послав Мене, аж поки є день. Надхо́дить он ніч, коли жоден нічо́го не зможе виконувати. |
|
5 Доки Я в світі, — Я Світло для світу“. |
|
6 Промовивши це, Він сплюнув на землю, і з сли́ни грязи́во зробив, і очі сліпому пома́зав грязи́вом, |
|
7 і до нього промовив: „Піди, умийся в ставку́ Сілоа́м“ (визначає це „По́сланий“). Тож пішов той і вмився, — і вернувся видю́щим. |
|
8 А сусіди та ті, що бачили перше його, як був він сліпий, говорили: „Чи ж не той це, що сидів та просив?“ |
|
9 Говорили одні, що це він, а інші казали: „Ні, — подібний до нього“. А він відказав: „Це я!“ |
|
10 І питали його: „Як же очі відкрились тобі?“ |
|
11 А той опові́да́в: „Чоловік, що Його звуть Ісусом, грязи́во зробив, і очі помазав мені, і до мене сказав: „Піди в Сілоа́м та й умийся“. Я ж пішов та й умився, — і став бачити“. |
|
12 І сказали до нього: „Де Він?“ Відказує той: „Я не знаю“. |
|
13 Ведуть тоді до фарисеїв того, що був перше незрячий. |
|
14 А була то субота, як грязи́во Ісус учинив і відкрив йому очі. |
|
15 І знов запитали його й фарисеї, я́к видющим він став. А він розповів їм: „Грязи́во поклав Він на очі мені, а я вмився, — та й бачу“. |
|
16 Тоді деякі з фарисеїв казали: „Не від Бога Оцей Чоловік, — бо суботи не де́ржить“. А інші казали: „Як же чу́да такі може грішна люди́на чинити?“ І незгода між ними була́. |
|
17 Тому зно́ву говорять сліпому: „Що́ ти кажеш про Нього, коли очі відкрив Він тобі?“ А той відказав: „Він Пророк!“ |
|
18 Юдеї проте́ йому не повірили, що незрячим він був і прозрів, аж поки не покликано батькі́в того прозрілого. |
|
19 І запитали їх, кажучи: „Чи ваш оце син, про якого ви кажете, ніби родився сліпим? Як же він тепер бачить?“ |
|
20 А батьки його відповіли́ та сказали: „Ми знаєм, що цей — то наш син, і що він народився сліпим. |
|
21 Але я́к тепер бачить, — не знаємо, або хто йому очі відкрив, — ми не відаємо. Поспитайте його, — він дорослий, хай сам скаже про себе“. |
|
22 Таке говорили батьки його, бо боялись юдеїв: юдеї бо вже були змо́вились, — як хто за Христа Його визнає, щоб той був відлучений від синагоги. |
|
23 Ось тому говорили батьки його: „Він дорослий, — його поспитайте“. |
|
24 І покликали вдруге того чоловіка, що був сліпим, і сказали йому: „Віддай хвалу Богові. Ми знаємо, що грішний Отой Чоловік“. |
|
25 Але він відповів: „Чи Він грішний — не знаю. Одне тільки знаю, що я був сліпим, а тепер бачу!“ |
|
26 І спитали його: „Що тобі Він зробив? Як відкрив тобі очі?“ |
|
27 Відповів він до них: „Я вже вам говорив, — та не слухали ви. Що́ бажаєте зно́ву почути? Може й ви Його учнями хочете стати?“ |
|
28 А вони його вилаяли та й сказали: „То ти Його учень, а ми учні Мойсеєві. |
|
29 Ми знаємо, що Бог говорив до Мойсея, — звідки ж узявся Оцей, ми не відаємо“. |
|
30 Відповів чоловік і сказав їм: „То́ ж воно й дивно, що не знаєте ви, звідки Він, — а Він мені очі відкрив! |
|
31 Та ми знаємо, що грішників Бог не послухає; хто ж богобійний, і виконує волю Його, — того слухає Він. |
|
32 Відвіку не чу́вано, щоб хто очі відкрив був сліпому з наро́дження. |
|
33 Коли б не від Бога був Цей, Він нічого не міг би чинити“. |
|
34 Вони відповіли́ та й сказали йому: „Ти ввесь у гріхах народився, — і чи тобі нас учити?“ І геть його вигнали. |
|
35 Дізнався Ісус, що вони того вигнали геть, і, знайшовши його, запитав: „Чи віруєш ти в Сина Божого?“ |
|
36 Відповів той, говорячи: „Хто ж то, Пане, Такий, щоб я вірував у Нього?“ |
|
37 Промовив до нього Ісус: „І ти бачив Його, і Той, Хто говорить з тобою — то Він!“ |
|
38 А він відказав: „Я вірую, Господи!“ І вклонився Йому. |
|
39 І промовив Ісус: „На суд Я прийшов у цей світ, щоб бачили темні, а видю́щі щоб стали незрячі“. |
|
40 І почули це деякі з тих фарисеїв, що були з Ним, та й сказали Йому: „Чи ж і ми невидю́щі?“ |
|
41 Відказав їм Ісус: „Якби ви невидю́щі були, то не мали б гріха́; а тепер ви говорите: „Бачимо“, — то й ваш гріх зостається при вас! |

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Teacher, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? |
2 І спитали Його учні Його, говорячи: „Учителю, хто згрішив: чи він сам, чи батьки його, що сліпим він родився?“ |

3 Jesus said to them, Neither did he sin nor his parents. But that the works of God might be seen in him, |
3 Ісус відповів: „Не згрішив ані він, ні батьки його, а щоб діла Божі з'явились на ньому. |
|
4 I must do the works of him who sent me, while it is day; the night comes when no man can work. |
4 Ми мусимо виконувати діла Того, Хто послав Мене, аж поки є день. Надхо́дить он ніч, коли жоден нічо́го не зможе виконувати. |
|
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. |
5 Доки Я в світі, — Я Світло для світу“. |
|
6 When he said these words, he spat on the ground, and mixed clay with his saliva, and he placed it on the eyes of the blind man. |

7 Then he said to him, Go and wash in the baptismal pool of Siloam. He went and washed, and he came seeing. |

9 Some said, It is he; and some said, No, but he resembles him; but he said, I am he. |
9 Говорили одні, що це він, а інші казали: „Ні, — подібний до нього“. А він відказав: „Це я!“ |

10 Then they said to him, How were your eyes opened? |
10 І питали його: „Як же очі відкрились тобі?“ |
|
11 He answered and said to them, A man whose name is Jesus made clay and placed it on my eyes, and he said to me, Go and wash in the water of Siloam; and I went and washed, and I see. |
11 А той опові́да́в: „Чоловік, що Його звуть Ісусом, грязи́во зробив, і очі помазав мені, і до мене сказав: „Піди в Сілоа́м та й умийся“. Я ж пішов та й умився, — і став бачити“. |

12 They said to him, Where is he? He said to them, I do not know. |
12 І сказали до нього: „Де Він?“ Відказує той: „Я не знаю“. |
|
13 So they brought to the Pharisees him who had been blind from his birth. |
13 Ведуть тоді до фарисеїв того, що був перше незрячий. |
|
14 Now it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. |
14 А була то субота, як грязи́во Ісус учинив і відкрив йому очі. |
|
15 Again the Pharisees asked him, How did you receive your sight? He said to them, He placed clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see. |
15 І знов запитали його й фарисеї, я́к видющим він став. А він розповів їм: „Грязи́во поклав Він на очі мені, а я вмився, — та й бачу“. |
|
16 Then some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he does not observe the sabbath; others said, How can a man who is a sinner do these miracles? And there was a division among them. |
16 Тоді деякі з фарисеїв казали: „Не від Бога Оцей Чоловік, — бо суботи не де́ржить“. А інші казали: „Як же чу́да такі може грішна люди́на чинити?“ І незгода між ними була́. |

17 They said to the blind man again, What do you say concerning him who opened your eyes? He said to them, I say he is a prophet. |
17 Тому зно́ву говорять сліпому: „Що́ ти кажеш про Нього, коли очі відкрив Він тобі?“ А той відказав: „Він Пророк!“ |
|
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight. |
18 Юдеї проте́ йому не повірили, що незрячим він був і прозрів, аж поки не покликано батькі́в того прозрілого. |
|
19 And they asked them, Is this your son, who you say was born blind? how then does he now see? |
19 І запитали їх, кажучи: „Чи ваш оце син, про якого ви кажете, ніби родився сліпим? Як же він тепер бачить?“ |
|
20 His parents answered and said, We know that he is our son, and that he was born blind. |
20 А батьки його відповіли́ та сказали: „Ми знаєм, що цей — то наш син, і що він народився сліпим. |
|
21 But how he sees now, or who opened his eyes, we do not know; he is of age, ask him, he will speak for himself. |
21 Але я́к тепер бачить, — не знаємо, або хто йому очі відкрив, — ми не відаємо. Поспитайте його, — він дорослий, хай сам скаже про себе“. |
|
22 His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had decided already, that if any man should confess that he is the Christ, they would put him out of the synagogue. |
22 Таке говорили батьки його, бо боялись юдеїв: юдеї бо вже були змо́вились, — як хто за Христа Його визнає, щоб той був відлучений від синагоги. |

23 For this reason his parents said, He is of age, ask him. |

25 He answered and said to them, If he is a sinner I do not know; but I do know one thing, that I was blind, and now behold, I see. |
25 Але він відповів: „Чи Він грішний — не знаю. Одне тільки знаю, що я був сліпим, а тепер бачу!“ |

26 They said to him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes? |
26 І спитали його: „Що тобі Він зробив? Як відкрив тобі очі?“ |
|
27 He said to them, I have already told you, and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again? why, do you also want to become his disciples? |
27 Відповів він до них: „Я вже вам говорив, — та не слухали ви. Що́ бажаєте зно́ву почути? Може й ви Його учнями хочете стати?“ |
|
28 Then they cursed him, and said to him, You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. |
28 А вони його вилаяли та й сказали: „То ти Його учень, а ми учні Мойсеєві. |
|
29 And we know that God spoke with Moses; but as for this man, we do not know whence he is. |
29 Ми знаємо, що Бог говорив до Мойсея, — звідки ж узявся Оцей, ми не відаємо“. |
|
30 The man answered and said to them, This is surprising, that you do not know whence he is, and yet he opened my eyes. |
30 Відповів чоловік і сказав їм: „То́ ж воно й дивно, що не знаєте ви, звідки Він, — а Він мені очі відкрив! |
|
31 We know that God does not hear the voice of sinners; but he hears the one who fears him and does his will. |
31 Та ми знаємо, що грішників Бог не послухає; хто ж богобійний, і виконує волю Його, — того слухає Він. |
|
32 From ages it has never been heard that a man opened the eyes of one who was born blind. |
32 Відвіку не чу́вано, щоб хто очі відкрив був сліпому з наро́дження. |
|
33 If this man were not from God, he could not have done this. |
33 Коли б не від Бога був Цей, Він нічого не міг би чинити“. |
|
34 They answered and said to him, You were wholly born in sins, and yet do you teach us? And they cast him out. |
34 Вони відповіли́ та й сказали йому: „Ти ввесь у гріхах народився, — і чи тобі нас учити?“ І геть його вигнали. |
|
35 And Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and he found him and said to him, Do you believe in the Son of God? |
35 Дізнався Ісус, що вони того вигнали геть, і, знайшовши його, запитав: „Чи віруєш ти в Сина Божого?“ |
|
36 He who was healed answered and said, Who is he, my Lord, so that I may believe in him? |
36 Відповів той, говорячи: „Хто ж то, Пане, Такий, щоб я вірував у Нього?“ |
|
37 Jesus said to him, You have seen him, and he is the one who is speaking with you. |
37 Промовив до нього Ісус: „І ти бачив Його, і Той, Хто говорить з тобою — то Він!“ |
|
38 He said, I do believe, my Lord; and he fell down and worshipped him. |
38 А він відказав: „Я вірую, Господи!“ І вклонився Йому. |
|
39 Then Jesus said to him, I have come for the judgment of this world, so that those who cannot see may see, and those who see may become blind. |
39 І промовив Ісус: „На суд Я прийшов у цей світ, щоб бачили темні, а видю́щі щоб стали незрячі“. |
|
40 When some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, they said to him, Why, are we also blind? |
40 І почули це деякі з тих фарисеїв, що були з Ним, та й сказали Йому: „Чи ж і ми невидю́щі?“ |
|
41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, We see; because of this your sin remains. |
41 Відказав їм Ісус: „Якби ви невидю́щі були, то не мали б гріха́; а тепер ви говорите: „Бачимо“, — то й ваш гріх зостається при вас! |
