Jeremiah

Chapter 50

1 CONCERNING Babylon, the word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

2 Declare among the nations and publish and raise an ensign; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is fallen, Merodach is put to shame, her idols are confounded and her graven images are broken in pieces.

3 For out of the north there comes up a nation against her which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell in it; they shall flee, they shall depart, both man and beast.

4 In those days and in that time, says the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping and seeking the LORD their God.

5 They shall ask the way to Zion, with their faces towards it, saying, Come, let us join ourselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant which shall not be forgotten.

6 My people have been like lost sheep; their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have scattered them on the mountains; they have gone from mountains to hills, they have forgotten their fold.

7 All who found them have devoured them; and their adversaries have said, We shall not spare them, because they have sinned against the LORD and against his righteous habitation; even the LORD, the hope of their families.

8 Flee from the midst of Babylon and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he-goats before the flocks.

9 For, behold, I will stir up and cause to come against Babylon a multitude of many nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken; their arrows shall be as those of an expert archer; none shall return empty.

10 And the land of the Chaldeans shall be a spoil; all that plunder her shall be satisfied, says the LORD.

11 Because you were glad, because you rejoiced over the destruction of my heritage, you leaped for joy like fat heifers and you danced like the rams of the flock:

12 Your mother is exceedingly ashamed; she who bore you is confounded: behold, the last of the nations shall become wilderness, waste, and desolation.

13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate; every one who passes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her wounds.

14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about; all you that know how to bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows; for she has sinned against the LORD.

15 Shout against her round about; she has surrendered, her foundations are fallen, her walls are demolished; for it is the vengeance of the LORD. Take vengeance upon her; as she has done to others, do so to her.

16 Cut off from Babylon both the sower and him that handles the sickle in the time of harvest; because of the fear of the oppressing sword, they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

17 Israel is a lost ewe; the lions have caused him to go astray; first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and at last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has inflicted a more grievous wound than the other.

18 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and on Mathnin and mount Ephraim and Gilead; and his soul shall be satisfied.

20 In those days and in that time, says the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found; for I will pardon those whom I reserve as a remnant.

21 Go up against the rebellious land, go up against it, and against its inhabitants; unsheath the sword and destroy them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.

22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

23 How is the mighty one of the whole earth defeated and taken! How has Babylon become an amazement among the nations!

24 Babylon has stumbled and she is taken; she did not know that she stood up against the LORD.

25 The LORD has opened his armory and brought forth weapons of his indignation; for this is the work of the LORD God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

26 Come against her from round about her, open her gates; leave her as a naked woman and destroy her utterly; let nothing be left of her.

27 Destroy her; and let all her offspring be delivered to the slaughter; woe to them! for their day is come, the time of their punishment.

28 The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

29 Call together great armies against Babylon: all who know how to bend the bow shoot against her round about; let none be spared; recompense her according to her works; according to all that she had done, do to her; for she has ventured against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her men of war shall be silenced on that day.

31 Behold, I am against you, O boaster, says the LORD God of hosts; for your day has come, the time of your punishment.

32 And the boaster shall be overthrown and fall, and none shall raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

33 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all who took them captive have held them fast; they refused to let them go.

34 Their Saviour is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name; he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet all the inhabitants of Babylon.

35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon all the inhabitants of Babylon and upon her princes and upon her wise men.

36 A sword is upon her soothsayers, and they shall be dismayed; a sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be defeated.

37 A sword is upon her horses and upon her chariots and upon all sojourners that are in the midst of her; and they shall become cowards; a sword is upon her treasures, and they shall be plundered.

38 A drought is upon her waters, and they shall be dried up; for she is the land of the makers of images, who boast in their idols.

39 Therefore screech-owls shall dwell in her, and ostriches shall inhabit her; and she shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall she be inhabited throughout generations.

40 She shall become like Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed them and their inhabitants; so no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live there.

41 Behold, a people is coming from the north, a great nation, and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

42 They are armed with bows and lances; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voices are like the roaring of the sea, and they ride upon horses, arrayed as mighty men to the battle against you, O daughter of Babylon.

43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands weakened; anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

44 Behold, the enemy shall come up like a lion from the thickets of Jordan against the folds of Athan; and I will make the people suddenly run away from Babylon; and I will charge young warriors against her; for who is like me? Or who shall assail me? Or what leader is there who can prevail against me?

45 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has proposed against the land of the Chaldeans; for they shall shear even the least of the flock, and they shall make their folds a desolation upon them.

46 At the noise of the capture of Babylon the earth is moved and her wailing is heard among the nations.

5 Будут7592 спрашивать7592 о пути1870 к Сиону,6726 и, обращая к нему2008 лица,6440 будут говорить: «идите935 и присоединитесь3867 к Господу3068 союзом1285 вечным,5769 который не забудется».7911

6 Народ5971 Мой был как погибшие6 овцы;6629 пастыри7462 их совратили8582 их с пути,8582 разогнали77257726 их по горам;2022 скитались1980 они с горы2022 на холм,1389 забыли7911 ложе7258 свое.

7 Все, которые находили4672 их, пожирали398 их, и притеснители6862 их говорили:559 «мы не виноваты,816 потому что они согрешили2398 пред Господом,3068 пред жилищем5116 правды6664 и пред Господом,3068 надеждою4723 отцов1 их».

10 И Халдея3778 сделается добычею7998 их; и опустошители7997 ее насытятся,7646 говорит5002 Господь.3068

14 Выстройтесь6186 в боевой порядок вокруг5439 Вавилона;894 все, натягивающие1869 лук,7198 стреляйте3034 в него, не жалейте2550 стрел,2671 ибо он согрешил2398 против Господа.3068

15 Поднимите7321 крик7321 против него со5439 всех5439 сторон;5439 он подал5414 руку3027 свою; пали5307 твердыни803 его, рушились2040 стены2346 его, ибо это — возмездие5360 Господа;3068 отмщайте5358 ему; как он поступал,6213 так и вы поступайте6213 с ним.

16 Истребите3772 в Вавилоне894 и сеющего2232 и действующего8610 серпом4038 во время6256 жатвы;7105 от страха губительного3238 меча2719 пусть каждый376 возвратится6437 к народу5971 своему, и каждый376 пусть бежит5127 в землю776 свою.

17 Израиль3478 — рассеянное6340 стадо;7716 львы738 разогнали5080 его; прежде7223 объедал398 его царь4428 Ассирийский,804 а сей последний,314 Навуходоносор,5019 царь4428 Вавилонский,894 и кости6105 его сокрушил.6105

18 Посему так говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф,6635 Бог430 Израилев:3478 вот, Я посещу6485 царя4428 Вавилонского894 и землю776 его, как посетил6485 царя4428 Ассирийского.804

19 И возвращу7725 Израиля3478 на пажить5116 его, и будет7462 он пастись7462 на Кармиле3760 и Васане,1316 и душа5315 его насытится7646 на горе2022 Ефремовой669 и в Галааде.1568

20 В те дни3117 и в то время,6256 говорит5002 Господь,3068 будут1245 искать1245 неправды5771 Израилевой,3478 и не будет ее, и грехов2403 Иуды,3063 и не найдется4672 их; ибо прощу5545 тех, которых оставлю7604 в живых.

21 Иди5927 на нее, на землю776 возмутительную,4850 и накажи6489 жителей3427 ее; опустошай2717 и истребляй2763 все за310 ними, говорит5002 Господь,3068 и сделай6213 все, что Я повелел6680 тебе.

23 Как разбит1438 и сокрушен7665 молот6360 всей земли!776 Как Вавилон894 сделался ужасом8047 между народами!1471

24 Я расставил3369 сети3369 для тебя, и ты пойман,3920 Вавилон,894 не предвидя3045 того; ты найден4672 и схвачен,8610 потому что восстал1624 против Господа.3068

25 Господь3068 открыл6605 хранилище214 Свое и взял3318 из него сосуды3627 гнева2195 Своего, потому что у Господа136 Бога3069 Саваофа6635 есть дело4399 в земле776 Халдейской.3778

26 Идите935 на нее со всех краев,7093 растворяйте6605 житницы3965 ее, топчите5549 ее как снопы,6194 совсем2763 истребите2763 ее, чтобы ничего от нее не осталось.7611

27 Убивайте2717 всех волов6499 ее, пусть идут3381 на заклание;2874 горе1945 им! ибо пришел935 день3117 их, время6256 посещения6486 их.

32 И споткнется3782 гордыня,2087 и упадет,5307 и никто не поднимет6965 его; и зажгу3341 огонь784 в городах5892 его, и пожрет398 все вокруг5439 него.

33 Так говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф:6635 угнетены6231 сыновья1121 Израиля,3478 как3162 и сыновья1121 Иуды,3063 и все, пленившие7617 их, крепко2388 держат2388 их и не хотят3985 отпустить7971 их.

34 Но Искупитель1350 их силен,2389 Господь3068 Саваоф6635 имя8034 Его; Он разберет7378 дело7379 их, чтобы успокоить7280 землю776 и привести7264 в трепет7264 жителей3427 Вавилона.894

40 Как ниспровержены4114 Богом430 Содом5467 и Гоморра6017 и соседние7934 города их, говорит5002 Господь,3068 так и тут ни один человек376 не будет3427 жить,3427 и сын1121 человеческий120 не будет1481 останавливаться.1481

41 Вот, идет935 народ5971 от севера,6828 и народ1471 великий,1419 и многие7227 цари4428 поднимаются5782 от краев3411 земли;776

19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and on Mathnin and mount Ephraim and Gilead; and his soul shall be satisfied.

20 In those days and in that time, says the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found; for I will pardon those whom I reserve as a remnant.

21 Go up against the rebellious land, go up against it, and against its inhabitants; unsheath the sword and destroy them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.

21 Иди5927 на нее, на землю776 возмутительную,4850 и накажи6489 жителей3427 ее; опустошай2717 и истребляй2763 все за310 ними, говорит5002 Господь,3068 и сделай6213 все, что Я повелел6680 тебе.

22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

23 How is the mighty one of the whole earth defeated and taken! How has Babylon become an amazement among the nations!

23 Как разбит1438 и сокрушен7665 молот6360 всей земли!776 Как Вавилон894 сделался ужасом8047 между народами!1471

24 Babylon has stumbled and she is taken; she did not know that she stood up against the LORD.

24 Я расставил3369 сети3369 для тебя, и ты пойман,3920 Вавилон,894 не предвидя3045 того; ты найден4672 и схвачен,8610 потому что восстал1624 против Господа.3068

25 The LORD has opened his armory and brought forth weapons of his indignation; for this is the work of the LORD God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

25 Господь3068 открыл6605 хранилище214 Свое и взял3318 из него сосуды3627 гнева2195 Своего, потому что у Господа136 Бога3069 Саваофа6635 есть дело4399 в земле776 Халдейской.3778

26 Come against her from round about her, open her gates; leave her as a naked woman and destroy her utterly; let nothing be left of her.

26 Идите935 на нее со всех краев,7093 растворяйте6605 житницы3965 ее, топчите5549 ее как снопы,6194 совсем2763 истребите2763 ее, чтобы ничего от нее не осталось.7611

27 Destroy her; and let all her offspring be delivered to the slaughter; woe to them! for their day is come, the time of their punishment.

28 The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

29 Call together great armies against Babylon: all who know how to bend the bow shoot against her round about; let none be spared; recompense her according to her works; according to all that she had done, do to her; for she has ventured against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

29 Созовите8085 против Вавилона894 стрельцов;7228 все, напрягающие1869 лук,7198 расположитесь2583 станом2583 вокруг5439 него, чтобы никто не спасся6413 из него; воздайте7999 ему по делам6467 его; как он поступал,6213 так поступите6213 и с ним, ибо он вознесся2102 против Господа,3068 против Святого6918 Израилева.3478

30 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her men of war shall be silenced on that day.

31 Behold, I am against you, O boaster, says the LORD God of hosts; for your day has come, the time of your punishment.

32 And the boaster shall be overthrown and fall, and none shall raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

32 И споткнется3782 гордыня,2087 и упадет,5307 и никто не поднимет6965 его; и зажгу3341 огонь784 в городах5892 его, и пожрет398 все вокруг5439 него.

33 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all who took them captive have held them fast; they refused to let them go.

33 Так говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф:6635 угнетены6231 сыновья1121 Израиля,3478 как3162 и сыновья1121 Иуды,3063 и все, пленившие7617 их, крепко2388 держат2388 их и не хотят3985 отпустить7971 их.

34 Their Saviour is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name; he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet all the inhabitants of Babylon.

34 Но Искупитель1350 их силен,2389 Господь3068 Саваоф6635 имя8034 Его; Он разберет7378 дело7379 их, чтобы успокоить7280 землю776 и привести7264 в трепет7264 жителей3427 Вавилона.894

35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon all the inhabitants of Babylon and upon her princes and upon her wise men.

36 A sword is upon her soothsayers, and they shall be dismayed; a sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be defeated.

37 A sword is upon her horses and upon her chariots and upon all sojourners that are in the midst of her; and they shall become cowards; a sword is upon her treasures, and they shall be plundered.

38 A drought is upon her waters, and they shall be dried up; for she is the land of the makers of images, who boast in their idols.

39 Therefore screech-owls shall dwell in her, and ostriches shall inhabit her; and she shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall she be inhabited throughout generations.

40 She shall become like Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed them and their inhabitants; so no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live there.

40 Как ниспровержены4114 Богом430 Содом5467 и Гоморра6017 и соседние7934 города их, говорит5002 Господь,3068 так и тут ни один человек376 не будет3427 жить,3427 и сын1121 человеческий120 не будет1481 останавливаться.1481

41 Behold, a people is coming from the north, a great nation, and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

41 Вот, идет935 народ5971 от севера,6828 и народ1471 великий,1419 и многие7227 цари4428 поднимаются5782 от краев3411 земли;776

42 They are armed with bows and lances; they are cruel and have no mercy; their voices are like the roaring of the sea, and they ride upon horses, arrayed as mighty men to the battle against you, O daughter of Babylon.

42 держат2388 в руках лук7198 и копье;3591 они жестоки394 и немилосерды;7355 голос6963 их шумен,1993 как море;3220 несутся7392 на конях,5483 выстроились6186 как один человек,376 чтобы сразиться4421 с тобою, дочь1323 Вавилона.894

43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands weakened; anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

44 Behold, the enemy shall come up like a lion from the thickets of Jordan against the folds of Athan; and I will make the people suddenly run away from Babylon; and I will charge young warriors against her; for who is like me? Or who shall assail me? Or what leader is there who can prevail against me?

45 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD which he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has proposed against the land of the Chaldeans; for they shall shear even the least of the flock, and they shall make their folds a desolation upon them.

45 Итак выслушайте8085 определение6098 Господа,3068 какое Он постановил3289 о Вавилоне,894 и намерения4284 Его, какие Он имеет2803 о земле776 Халдейской:3778 истинно, самые6810 малые6810 из стад6629 повлекут5498 их; истинно, он опустошит8074 жилища5116 их с ними.

46 At the noise of the capture of Babylon the earth is moved and her wailing is heard among the nations.
