Глава 39

1 Измаильтяне привели Иосифа в Египет. Купил его у них один египтянин по имени Потифар, сановник фараона, начальник дворцовой стражи.

2 ГОСПОДЬ был с Иосифом и помог ему проявить себя достойным образом, так что хозяин-египтянин оставил его жить в своем доме.

3 И видел хозяин, что ГОСПОДЬ с Иосифом и что поэтому в руках его всё спорилось и ладилось.

4 Так Иосиф заслужил расположение Потифара и стал его личным слугой. Вскоре тот доверил Иосифу управлять всем домом своим и поручил ему смотреть за всем своим имуществом.

5 С того самого времени, как Потифар поставил его над домом своим и над всем, что у него было, ГОСПОДЬ даровал всякое благополучие дому египтянина — и всё это благодаря Иосифу. Благословение ГОСПОДНЕ пребывало на всем, что было у него — и в доме, и в поле.

6 А потому всё, чем владел Потифар, он поручил заботам Иосифа, и единственное, о чем ему оставалось думать, — это лишь о трапезах своих. Иосиф был стройным и красивым юношей.

7 И не много прошло времени, как жена хозяина начала с вожделением смотреть на него, она сказала ему: «Ложись со мной».

8 Но Иосиф противостал ей. «Подумай! — говорил он жене господина. — С тех пор как я здесь, моему господину ни о чем в доме не приходится заботиться, и всё, что есть у него, он доверил мне.

9 Со мной он на равных, и здесь всё, кроме тебя, сделал он для меня доступным, но ты — его жена. Как же могу я совершить столь великое зло? Это же грех перед Богом!»

10 Хоть и уговаривала она Иосифа изо дня в день, к ее приглашению лечь с ней или провести с ней время он оставался глух.

11 А однажды случилось Иосифу войти в дом Потифара по делу, когда никого из слуг в доме не было,

12 она воспользовалась этим, схватила его за одежду и потребовала: «Ложись со мной!» Но Иосиф, оставив свою одежду у нее в руках, бросился к двери и выбежал вон.

13 Как только жена Потифара увидела, что Иосиф выбежал из дома, оставив в ее руках свою одежду,

14 она тут же позвала слуг и сказала: «Вы только посмотрите! Мой муж привел к нам еврея, чтобы тот унижал и оскорблял нас. Он вошел сюда и пытался обесчестить меня. Благо я закричала что было сил.

15 А он, как только услышал мой крик и визг, тут же бросил свою одежду и убежал».

16 Она держала у себя одежду Иосифа, пока не вернулся домой его господин;

17 и ему повторила она свой рассказ: «Тот раб-еврей, которого ты привел к нам, пришел ко мне, чтобы надругаться надо мной.

18 Но я подняла крик и визг, и он, бросив свою одежду, убежал».

19 Господин Иосифа, услышав слова жены о том, как его раб обошелся с ней, пришел в ярость.

20 Он велел схватить его и заточить в ту крепость, где содержались узники царя. Когда Иосиф оказался в тюрьме,

21 ГОСПОДЬ и там был с ним и по любви Своей неизменной помог ему завоевать особое расположение начальника тюрьмы.

22 Тот вверил Иосифу всех узников, и он руководил всей их работой.

23 Начальник тюрьмы мог не беспокоиться о том, что было доверено Иосифу, ибо ГОСПОДЬ был с ним, и всякому делу, за которое брался Иосиф, ГОСПОДЬ даровал успех.

Genesis

Chapter 39

1 AND Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, commander of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Arabians who had brought him down there.

2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he became a prosperous man in the house of his master, the Egyptian.

3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper under his hands.

4 And Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him; and he made him steward of his house, and all that he had he put in his charge.

5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him steward of his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had both in the house and in the field.

6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's charge; and he did not know what he had, except the food that he ate. And Joseph was very handsome and pleasant to look at.

7 And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said to him, Lie with me.

8 But he refused, and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what he has in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge;

9 There is no one greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back anything from me except yourself, because you are his wife; how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

10 And it came to pass, as she spoke to him daily, he did not listen to her, to lie with her, or to be with her.

11 And it came to pass one day that Joseph went in to the house to do his work; and none of the men of the household were there in the house.

12 And she caught him by his garment, and said to him, Lie with me; but he left the garment in her hands, and fled, and got out to the street.

13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hands, and had fled out to the street,

14 She called to the men of her household, and said to them, See, he has brought in a Hebrew servant to us to disgrace us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice;

15 And when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried aloud, he left his garment in my hands, and fled, and got out to the street.

16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.

17 And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us, came in to disgrace me;

18 But as I lifted up my voice and cried aloud, he left his garment in my hands, and fled, and got out to the street.

19 And when the master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, After this manner did your servant to me; his wrath was kindled.

20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were confined; and he remained there in the prison.

21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22 And the keeper of the prison intrusted to Joseph's care all the prisoners who were in the prison; and he was in charge of whatever they did there.

23 The keeper of the prison did not look to anything that was in Joseph's charge, because the LORD was with him, and whatever he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

1 Измаильтяне привели Иосифа в Египет. Купил его у них один египтянин по имени Потифар, сановник фараона, начальник дворцовой стражи.

2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he became a prosperous man in the house of his master, the Egyptian.

3 И видел хозяин, что ГОСПОДЬ с Иосифом и что поэтому в руках его всё спорилось и ладилось.

3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper under his hands.

4 Так Иосиф заслужил расположение Потифара и стал его личным слугой. Вскоре тот доверил Иосифу управлять всем домом своим и поручил ему смотреть за всем своим имуществом.

4 And Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him; and he made him steward of his house, and all that he had he put in his charge.

5 С того самого времени, как Потифар поставил его над домом своим и над всем, что у него было, ГОСПОДЬ даровал всякое благополучие дому египтянина — и всё это благодаря Иосифу. Благословение ГОСПОДНЕ пребывало на всем, что было у него — и в доме, и в поле.

5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him steward of his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had both in the house and in the field.

6 А потому всё, чем владел Потифар, он поручил заботам Иосифа, и единственное, о чем ему оставалось думать, — это лишь о трапезах своих. Иосиф был стройным и красивым юношей.

6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's charge; and he did not know what he had, except the food that he ate. And Joseph was very handsome and pleasant to look at.

7 И не много прошло времени, как жена хозяина начала с вожделением смотреть на него, она сказала ему: «Ложись со мной».

7 And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said to him, Lie with me.

8 Но Иосиф противостал ей. «Подумай! — говорил он жене господина. — С тех пор как я здесь, моему господину ни о чем в доме не приходится заботиться, и всё, что есть у него, он доверил мне.

8 But he refused, and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what he has in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge;

9 Со мной он на равных, и здесь всё, кроме тебя, сделал он для меня доступным, но ты — его жена. Как же могу я совершить столь великое зло? Это же грех перед Богом!»

9 There is no one greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back anything from me except yourself, because you are his wife; how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

10 Хоть и уговаривала она Иосифа изо дня в день, к ее приглашению лечь с ней или провести с ней время он оставался глух.

10 And it came to pass, as she spoke to him daily, he did not listen to her, to lie with her, or to be with her.

11 А однажды случилось Иосифу войти в дом Потифара по делу, когда никого из слуг в доме не было,

11 And it came to pass one day that Joseph went in to the house to do his work; and none of the men of the household were there in the house.

12 она воспользовалась этим, схватила его за одежду и потребовала: «Ложись со мной!» Но Иосиф, оставив свою одежду у нее в руках, бросился к двери и выбежал вон.

12 And she caught him by his garment, and said to him, Lie with me; but he left the garment in her hands, and fled, and got out to the street.

13 Как только жена Потифара увидела, что Иосиф выбежал из дома, оставив в ее руках свою одежду,

13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hands, and had fled out to the street,

14 она тут же позвала слуг и сказала: «Вы только посмотрите! Мой муж привел к нам еврея, чтобы тот унижал и оскорблял нас. Он вошел сюда и пытался обесчестить меня. Благо я закричала что было сил.

14 She called to the men of her household, and said to them, See, he has brought in a Hebrew servant to us to disgrace us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice;

15 А он, как только услышал мой крик и визг, тут же бросил свою одежду и убежал».

15 And when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried aloud, he left his garment in my hands, and fled, and got out to the street.

16 Она держала у себя одежду Иосифа, пока не вернулся домой его господин;

16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.

17 и ему повторила она свой рассказ: «Тот раб-еврей, которого ты привел к нам, пришел ко мне, чтобы надругаться надо мной.

17 And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us, came in to disgrace me;

18 Но я подняла крик и визг, и он, бросив свою одежду, убежал».

18 But as I lifted up my voice and cried aloud, he left his garment in my hands, and fled, and got out to the street.

19 Господин Иосифа, услышав слова жены о том, как его раб обошелся с ней, пришел в ярость.

19 And when the master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, After this manner did your servant to me; his wrath was kindled.

20 Он велел схватить его и заточить в ту крепость, где содержались узники царя. Когда Иосиф оказался в тюрьме,

20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were confined; and he remained there in the prison.

21 ГОСПОДЬ и там был с ним и по любви Своей неизменной помог ему завоевать особое расположение начальника тюрьмы.

21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22 Тот вверил Иосифу всех узников, и он руководил всей их работой.

22 And the keeper of the prison intrusted to Joseph's care all the prisoners who were in the prison; and he was in charge of whatever they did there.

23 Начальник тюрьмы мог не беспокоиться о том, что было доверено Иосифу, ибо ГОСПОДЬ был с ним, и всякому делу, за которое брался Иосиф, ГОСПОДЬ даровал успех.

23 The keeper of the prison did not look to anything that was in Joseph's charge, because the LORD was with him, and whatever he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
