Глава 11

1 В деревне Вифания, где жили Мария и ее сестра Марфа, был болен один человек, звали его Лазарь.

2 (Это была та самая Мария, которая впоследствии умастила Господа благовонным маслом и вытерла ноги Его волосами своими. Тяжело заболевший Лазарь был брат этой Марии.)

3 Сестры послали сказать Иисусу: «Господи, тот, кого любишь Ты, болен».

4 Услышав о том, Иисус сказал: «Не к смерти эта болезнь, но к славе Божией. Через болезнь эту прославит Бог Сына Своего».

5 Потому, хоть и любил Иисус Марфу, сестру ее и Лазаря,

6 Он всё же целых два дня оставался там, где Его застало известие о болезни Лазаря.

7 Потом, однако, позвал Он учеников: «Пойдемте снова в Иудею!»

8 «Равви, — удивились ученики, — ведь только что хотели иудеи побить Тебя камнями, а Ты снова идешь туда?»

9 Тогда Иисус сказал: «Не двенадцать ли часов длится день? Всякий может ходить днем, не спотыкаясь: при свете этого мира он видит, что у него на пути.

10 А ночью кто ходит, спотыкается, потому что нет у него света».

11 Потом Он добавил: «Наш друг Лазарь уснул, но Я пойду и разбужу его».

12 «Господи, — ответили ученики, — если он уснул, значит поправится».

13 Иисус о смерти Лазаря сказал, а они подумали, что говорит Он о сне обычном.

14 Тогда прямо сказал им Иисус: «Лазарь умер.

15 Думая о вас, радуюсь, что Меня не было там: теперь вы будете верить. Но пойдемте же к нему!»

16 Фома по прозвищу Близнец сказал сотоварищам своим: «Пойдем и мы с Ним вместе, чтобы с Ним и умереть!»

17 Когда Иисус пришел в Вифанию, Он узнал, что Лазарь уже четыре дня как в гробнице.

18 От Вифании до Иерусалима недалеко, всего около трех километров,

19 и многие иудеи из города пришли к Марфе и Марии, чтобы утешить их в горе.

20 Как только Марфа услышала, что Иисус идет к ним, она тотчас пошла Ему навстречу, Мария же осталась дома.

21 «Господи, — сказала Марфа Иисусу, — если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы мой брат.

22 [Но] я знаю, что и теперь Бог даст Тебе всё, о чем ни попросишь Ты Его».

23 «Воскреснет брат твой», — ответил ей Иисус.

24 «Знаю, что воскреснет, — сказала она. — В последний День, при воскресении мертвых».

25 Тогда сказал ей Иисус: «Я — воскресение и жизнь. Верующий в Меня будет жить, даже если умрет он,

26 и ни один из тех, кто действительно живет и верит в Меня, никогда на самом деле не умрет. Веришь в это?»

27 «Да, Господи! — ответила она Ему. — Я верю, что Ты — Мессия, Сын Божий, который должен был прийти в мир».

28 После этого она пошла и позвала Марию, сестру свою, сказав ей украдкой: «Учитель здесь и хочет видеть тебя».

29 Услышав это, та быстро встала и пошла к Нему.

30 (Иисус еще не вошел в селение, Он оставался там, где его встретила Марфа.)

31 Иудеи, которые были в доме у Марии и пытались утешать ее, увидев, что она быстро встала и вышла, последовали за ней, полагая, что она пошла плакать к месту погребения ее брата.

32 Придя туда, где был Иисус, и увидев Его, Мария пала к ногам Его и сказала: «Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы мой брат».

33 При виде плачущей женщины и тех иудеев, что пришли и плакали вместе с ней, Иисус был глубоко взволнован и с тяжелым вздохом

34 спросил: «Где похоронили вы его?» «Господи, иди и посмотри!» — сказала она Ему.

35 Слезы навернулись на глаза Иисуса.

36 «Смотрите, как любил Он его!» — заговорили иудеи.

37 А некоторые недоумевали: «Неужели Он, исцеливший слепого, не мог сделать так, чтобы и этот не умер?»

38 Снова тяжело вздохнув, Иисус подошел к склепу. Это была пещера, вход в которую закрывал камень.

39 «Уберите камень!» — повелел Иисус. «Господи, — воспротивилась Марфа, сестра умершего, — там тяжкий запах, ведь уже прошло четыре дня».

40 Но Иисус остановил ее: «Не говорил ли Я тебе, что, если будешь верить, увидишь величие дел Божьих?»

41 Камень убрали. Иисус поднял глаза к небу и сказал: «Благодарю Тебя, Отец, что услышал Меня.

42 Знаю, что Ты всегда Меня слышишь. Говорю же это ради людей, стоящих здесь, дабы уверовали они, что Ты послал Меня».

43 Сказав это, Он во весь голос воскликнул: «Лазарь, выходи!»

44 И Лазарь, обвязанный по рукам и ногам погребальными пеленами, с платком, закрывавшим лицо его, вышел из склепа. «Развяжите его, — сказал Иисус, — пусть идет».

45 Многие из тех иудеев, которые пришли к Марии и увидели, что сделал Иисус, уверовали в Него,

46 но некоторые пошли к фарисеям и рассказали им о том, что Он сделал.

47 Первосвященники и фарисеи собрали тогда Синедрион. «Что нам делать? — говорили они. — Человек Этот совершает много такого, что привлекает внимание людей.

48 Если позволим Ему продолжать это, все уверуют в Него, и придут тогда римляне и уничтожат и Храм наш, и народ».

49 Один из них, некий Каиафа, бывший в тот год первосвященником, сказал им: «Ничего-то вы не понимаете!

50 Подумайте, разве не лучше будет для вас, если один человек умрет за народ, а не все иудеи погибнут?»

51 Не от себя он это сказал: будучи в тот год первосвященником, верно предрек он, что умрет Иисус за иудейский народ,

52 и не только за этот народ, но и ради того, чтобы собрать воедино всех рассеянных детей Божьих.

53 И стали они с того дня непреклонны в своей решимости убить Его.

54 Вот почему Иисус больше уже не появлялся открыто среди иудеев. Он ушел оттуда в местность, что граничит с пустыней, в город, называемый Эфраим, и оставался там со Своими учениками.

55 Приближалась иудейская Пасха, и многие шли из деревень в Иерусалим, чтобы очиститься и быть готовыми к празднику.

56 Они искали Иисуса и, встречаясь в Храме, спрашивали друг друга: «Как думаете, придет Он на праздник?»

57 А первосвященники и фарисеи постановили: каждый, кто узнает, где Он находится, должен донести об этом, чтобы они могли схватить Иисуса.

John

Chapter 11

1 NOW there was a man who was sick, Lazarus of the town of Bethany, the brother of Mary and Martha.

2 This is the Mary who anointed the feet of Jesus with perfume and wiped them with her hair. Lazarus who was sick, was her brother.

3 His two sisters therefore sent to Jesus, saying, Our Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.

4 Jesus said, This is not a sickness of death, but for the sake of the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified on his account.

5 Now Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus.

6 When he heard he was sick, he remained two days in the place where he was.

7 After that he said to his disciples, Come, let us go again to Judaea.

8 His disciples said to him, Teacher, not long ago the Jews wanted to stone you, and yet are you going there again?

9 Jesus said to them, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walks by day time, he will not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

10 But if a man travels at night time, he will stumble, because there is no light in it.

11 Jesus said these things; and after that he said to them, Our friend Lazarus is asleep; but I am going to awake him.

12 His disciples said to him, Our Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get well.

13 But Jesus spoke of his death; and they thought that what he said was sleeping in bed.

14 Then Jesus said to them, plainly, Lazarus is dead.

15 And I am glad I was not there, for your sakes, so that you may believe; but let us walk there.

16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, Let us also go, and die with him.

17 So Jesus came to Bethany, and he found that he had been four days in the tomb.

18 Now Bethany was towards Jerusalem, a distance of about two miles.

19 And many Jews kept coming to Martha and Mary, to comfort their hearts concerning their brother.

20 When Martha heard that Jesus had come, she went out to meet him; but Mary sat in the house.

21 Then Martha said to Jesus, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

22 But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, he will give you.

23 Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise up.

24 Martha said to him, I know he will rise up in the resurrection at the last day.

25 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even though he die, he shall live.

26 And whoever is alive and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?

27 She said to him, Yes, my Lord; I do believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come to the world.

28 And when she had said these things, she went away and called her sister Mary secretly, and said to her, Our teacher has come, and he is calling you.

29 When Mary heard it, she rose up quickly and came to him.

30 Jesus had not yet come into the town, but he was still at the same place where Martha met him.

31 The Jews also who were with her in the house, comforting her, when they saw Mary rise up quickly and go out, followed her, for they thought she was going to the tomb to weep.

32 When Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she threw herself at his feet, and said to him, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping, who had come with her, he was moved in his spirit, and was greatly disturbed.

34 And he said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, Our Lord, come and see.

35 And Jesus was in tears.

36 The Jews then said, Look, how much he loved him!

37 Some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of that blind man, have also kept this man from dying?

38 As Jesus was disturbed in himself because of them, he came to the tomb. That tomb was a cave, and a stone was placed at the entrance.

39 Jesus said, Take away this stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, My Lord, he is already disfigured, for he is dead four days.

40 Jesus said to her, Did not I say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?

41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, O Father, I thank you for you have heard me,

42 And I know that you always hear me; but I say these things just because of this people who stand around, so that they may believe that you have sent me.

43 And when he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come outside.

44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with burial clothes; and his face bound with a burial napkin. Jesus said to them, Loose him and let him go.

45 Many of the Jews who had come to Mary, when they saw what Jesus had done, believed in him.

46 And some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them everything Jesus had done.

47 So the high priests and the Pharisees gathered together and said, What shall we do? for this man does many miracles?

48 If we allow him to continue like this, all men will believe in him; and the Romans will come and take over both our country and our people.

49 But one of them, called Caiaphas, who was the high priest for that year, said to them, You know nothing;

50 Nor do you reason that it is much better for us that one man should die instead of the people, and not all the people perish.

51 He did not say this of himself; but because he was the high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus had to die for the sake of the people;

52 And not only for the sake of the people, but also to gather together the children of God who are scattered abroad.

53 And from that very day, they decided to kill him.

54 Jesus therefore did not walk openly among the Jews, but went away thence to a place which is close to the wilderness, in the province of Ephraim; and he remained there with his disciples.

55 Now the Jewish passover was at hand; and many went up from the towns to Jerusalem, before the feast, to purify themselves.

56 And they were looking for Jesus, and at the temple they kept saying to one another, What do you think, will he not come to the feast?

57 But the high priests and the Pharisees had already commanded, that if any man should know where he is, to let them know, so that they might seize him.

3 Сестры послали сказать Иисусу: «Господи, тот, кого любишь Ты, болен».	3 His two sisters therefore sent to Jesus, saying, Our Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.
4 Услышав о том, Иисус сказал: «Не к смерти эта болезнь, но к славе Божией. Через болезнь эту прославит Бог Сына Своего».	4 Jesus said, This is not a sickness of death, but for the sake of the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified on his account.
5 Потому, хоть и любил Иисус Марфу, сестру ее и Лазаря,	5 Now Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus.
6 Он всё же целых два дня оставался там, где Его застало известие о болезни Лазаря.	6 When he heard he was sick, he remained two days in the place where he was.
7 Потом, однако, позвал Он учеников: «Пойдемте снова в Иудею!»	7 After that he said to his disciples, Come, let us go again to Judaea.
8 «Равви, — удивились ученики, — ведь только что хотели иудеи побить Тебя камнями, а Ты снова идешь туда?»	8 His disciples said to him, Teacher, not long ago the Jews wanted to stone you, and yet are you going there again?
9 Тогда Иисус сказал: «Не двенадцать ли часов длится день? Всякий может ходить днем, не спотыкаясь: при свете этого мира он видит, что у него на пути.	9 Jesus said to them, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walks by day time, he will not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
10 А ночью кто ходит, спотыкается, потому что нет у него света».	10 But if a man travels at night time, he will stumble, because there is no light in it.
11 Потом Он добавил: «Наш друг Лазарь уснул, но Я пойду и разбужу его».	11 Jesus said these things; and after that he said to them, Our friend Lazarus is asleep; but I am going to awake him.
12 «Господи, — ответили ученики, — если он уснул, значит поправится».	12 His disciples said to him, Our Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get well.
13 Иисус о смерти Лазаря сказал, а они подумали, что говорит Он о сне обычном.	13 But Jesus spoke of his death; and they thought that what he said was sleeping in bed.
14 Тогда прямо сказал им Иисус: «Лазарь умер.	14 Then Jesus said to them, plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 Думая о вас, радуюсь, что Меня не было там: теперь вы будете верить. Но пойдемте же к нему!»	15 And I am glad I was not there, for your sakes, so that you may believe; but let us walk there.
16 Фома по прозвищу Близнец сказал сотоварищам своим: «Пойдем и мы с Ним вместе, чтобы с Ним и умереть!»	16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, Let us also go, and die with him.
17 Когда Иисус пришел в Вифанию, Он узнал, что Лазарь уже четыре дня как в гробнице.	17 So Jesus came to Bethany, and he found that he had been four days in the tomb.
18 От Вифании до Иерусалима недалеко, всего около трех километров,	18 Now Bethany was towards Jerusalem, a distance of about two miles.
19 и многие иудеи из города пришли к Марфе и Марии, чтобы утешить их в горе.	19 And many Jews kept coming to Martha and Mary, to comfort their hearts concerning their brother.
20 Как только Марфа услышала, что Иисус идет к ним, она тотчас пошла Ему навстречу, Мария же осталась дома.	20 When Martha heard that Jesus had come, she went out to meet him; but Mary sat in the house.
21 «Господи, — сказала Марфа Иисусу, — если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы мой брат.	21 Then Martha said to Jesus, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
22 [Но] я знаю, что и теперь Бог даст Тебе всё, о чем ни попросишь Ты Его».	22 But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, he will give you.
23 «Воскреснет брат твой», — ответил ей Иисус.	23 Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise up.
24 «Знаю, что воскреснет, — сказала она. — В последний День, при воскресении мертвых».	24 Martha said to him, I know he will rise up in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Тогда сказал ей Иисус: «Я — воскресение и жизнь. Верующий в Меня будет жить, даже если умрет он,	25 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even though he die, he shall live.
26 и ни один из тех, кто действительно живет и верит в Меня, никогда на самом деле не умрет. Веришь в это?»	26 And whoever is alive and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?
27 «Да, Господи! — ответила она Ему. — Я верю, что Ты — Мессия, Сын Божий, который должен был прийти в мир».	27 She said to him, Yes, my Lord; I do believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come to the world.
28 После этого она пошла и позвала Марию, сестру свою, сказав ей украдкой: «Учитель здесь и хочет видеть тебя».	28 And when she had said these things, she went away and called her sister Mary secretly, and said to her, Our teacher has come, and he is calling you.
29 Услышав это, та быстро встала и пошла к Нему.	29 When Mary heard it, she rose up quickly and came to him.
30 (Иисус еще не вошел в селение, Он оставался там, где его встретила Марфа.)	30 Jesus had not yet come into the town, but he was still at the same place where Martha met him.
31 Иудеи, которые были в доме у Марии и пытались утешать ее, увидев, что она быстро встала и вышла, последовали за ней, полагая, что она пошла плакать к месту погребения ее брата.	31 The Jews also who were with her in the house, comforting her, when they saw Mary rise up quickly and go out, followed her, for they thought she was going to the tomb to weep.
32 Придя туда, где был Иисус, и увидев Его, Мария пала к ногам Его и сказала: «Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы мой брат».	32 When Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she threw herself at his feet, and said to him, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
33 При виде плачущей женщины и тех иудеев, что пришли и плакали вместе с ней, Иисус был глубоко взволнован и с тяжелым вздохом	33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping, who had come with her, he was moved in his spirit, and was greatly disturbed.
34 спросил: «Где похоронили вы его?» «Господи, иди и посмотри!» — сказала она Ему.	34 And he said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, Our Lord, come and see.
35 Слезы навернулись на глаза Иисуса.	35 And Jesus was in tears.
36 «Смотрите, как любил Он его!» — заговорили иудеи.	36 The Jews then said, Look, how much he loved him!
37 А некоторые недоумевали: «Неужели Он, исцеливший слепого, не мог сделать так, чтобы и этот не умер?»	37 Some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of that blind man, have also kept this man from dying?
38 Снова тяжело вздохнув, Иисус подошел к склепу. Это была пещера, вход в которую закрывал камень.	38 As Jesus was disturbed in himself because of them, he came to the tomb. That tomb was a cave, and a stone was placed at the entrance.
39 «Уберите камень!» — повелел Иисус. «Господи, — воспротивилась Марфа, сестра умершего, — там тяжкий запах, ведь уже прошло четыре дня».	39 Jesus said, Take away this stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, My Lord, he is already disfigured, for he is dead four days.
40 Но Иисус остановил ее: «Не говорил ли Я тебе, что, если будешь верить, увидишь величие дел Божьих?»	40 Jesus said to her, Did not I say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?
41 Камень убрали. Иисус поднял глаза к небу и сказал: «Благодарю Тебя, Отец, что услышал Меня.	41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, O Father, I thank you for you have heard me,
42 Знаю, что Ты всегда Меня слышишь. Говорю же это ради людей, стоящих здесь, дабы уверовали они, что Ты послал Меня».	42 And I know that you always hear me; but I say these things just because of this people who stand around, so that they may believe that you have sent me.
43 Сказав это, Он во весь голос воскликнул: «Лазарь, выходи!»	43 And when he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come outside.

45 Многие из тех иудеев, которые пришли к Марии и увидели, что сделал Иисус, уверовали в Него,	45 Many of the Jews who had come to Mary, when they saw what Jesus had done, believed in him.
46 но некоторые пошли к фарисеям и рассказали им о том, что Он сделал.	46 And some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them everything Jesus had done.
47 Первосвященники и фарисеи собрали тогда Синедрион. «Что нам делать? — говорили они. — Человек Этот совершает много такого, что привлекает внимание людей.	47 So the high priests and the Pharisees gathered together and said, What shall we do? for this man does many miracles?
48 Если позволим Ему продолжать это, все уверуют в Него, и придут тогда римляне и уничтожат и Храм наш, и народ».	48 If we allow him to continue like this, all men will believe in him; and the Romans will come and take over both our country and our people.
49 Один из них, некий Каиафа, бывший в тот год первосвященником, сказал им: «Ничего-то вы не понимаете!	49 But one of them, called Caiaphas, who was the high priest for that year, said to them, You know nothing;
50 Подумайте, разве не лучше будет для вас, если один человек умрет за народ, а не все иудеи погибнут?»	50 Nor do you reason that it is much better for us that one man should die instead of the people, and not all the people perish.
51 Не от себя он это сказал: будучи в тот год первосвященником, верно предрек он, что умрет Иисус за иудейский народ,	51 He did not say this of himself; but because he was the high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus had to die for the sake of the people;
52 и не только за этот народ, но и ради того, чтобы собрать воедино всех рассеянных детей Божьих.	52 And not only for the sake of the people, but also to gather together the children of God who are scattered abroad.
53 И стали они с того дня непреклонны в своей решимости убить Его.	53 And from that very day, they decided to kill him.
54 Вот почему Иисус больше уже не появлялся открыто среди иудеев.
