Глава 30

1 «Но теперь надо мной смеются те, кто младше меня, чьих отцов не удостоил бы я быть псами, пасущими моих овец.

2 Они слишком слабы, чтобы служить на пользу мне, не осталось силы в их руках.

3 Измученные голодом и жаждой, они бродят ночами по выжженной земле и мрачным пустырям.

4 Они ощипывают горькие травы, и хлеб для них — коренья ракитника.

5 Их собственный народ изгнал, на них кричали, словно на воров.

6 Им остаётся жить лишь в пересохших руслах рек, среди камней и рытвин.

7 Они рыдают у кустов колючих и жмутся к ним.

8 Они — без имени толпа, изгнанники, отверженные всеми.

9 И теперь их сыновья смеются и поют песни обо мне, и моё имя для них — ругательное слово.

10 Они презирают меня и держатся в стороне, не раздумывая, плюют в лицо мне.

11 Теперь, когда Бог порвал тетиву у лука моего и унизил меня, они не сдерживаются в присутствии моём.

12 Они набрасываются на меня с правой стороны, сбивая с ног. Я чувствую себя как город осаждённый, как будто строят земляные валы против стен моих.

13 Они охраняют все дороги, чтобы не мог я убежать, они травят меня, не прибегая к помощи других.

14 Как через пролом в стене они пришли, они спешат и камни сыплют на меня.

15 Я содрогаюсь от страха, моё достоинство как ветром унесло, и как облака исчезла безопасность.

16 Теперь жизнь моя близка к концу, дни страданий меня захватили.

17 Ночью болят мои кости, и боль моя никогда не утихает.

18 Господь схватил меня за воротник и изорвал на мне одежду.

19 Он в грязь меня забросил и стал я вровень с пылью, с пеплом.

20 Я взываю к Тебе, Господи, но Ты не отвечаешь, встаю, чтобы молиться, но Ты не слушаешь.

21 Господи, Ты стал безжалостным ко мне, и силу Свою мне во вред употребляешь.

22 Ты меня поднял и на сильный ветер бросил, Ты в бурю кидаешь меня из стороны в сторону.

23 Я знаю: Ты к смерти приведёшь меня, в тот дом, куда должны идти все живые.

24 Но ведь никто же руку не поднимет на того, кто уже унижен и о пощаде просит.

25 Не плакал ли я о тех, кого беда настигла, и разве не скорбел за бедных.

26 Надежда на лучшее не оправдалась, и вместо света тьма пришла.

27 Страдания и боль не прекратятся, их много будет в будущем моём.

28 Меня охватила печаль и грусть, и нет утешения мне, стою перед людьми и о помощи кричу.

29 Шакалам стал я братом и другом — страусам.

30 Кожа потемнела, и тело всё горит от жара.

31 На стоны настроена арфа моя, а флейта — на причитания».

2 Yes,1571 whereto4100 might the strength3581 of their hands3027 profit me, in whom5921 old age3624 was perished?6

3 For want2639 and famine3720 they were solitary;1565 fleeing6207 into the wilderness6723 in former570 time570 desolate7722 and waste.4875

4 Who cut6998 up mallows4408 by the bushes,7880 and juniper7574 roots8328 for their meat.3899

5 They were driven1644 forth from among1460 men, (they cried7321 after5921 them as after a thief;1590)

6 To dwell7931 in the cliffs6178 of the valleys,5158 in caves2356 of the earth,6083 and in the rocks.3710

7 Among996 the bushes7880 they brayed;5101 under8478 the nettles2738 they were gathered5596 together.

8 They were children1121 of fools,5036 yes,1571 children1121 of base1097 8034 men: they were viler5217 than4480 the earth.776
