1 When3588 thou sittest3427 to eat3898 with854 a ruler,4910 consider diligently995 995 853 what834 is before6440 thee:
2 And put7760 a knife7915 to thy throat,3930 if518 thou859 be a man1167 given to appetite.5315
3 Be not408 desirous183 of his dainties:4303 for they1931 are deceitful3577 meat.3899

4 Labor3021 not408 to be rich:6238 cease2308 from4480 thine own wisdom.998
5 Wilt thou set5774 thine eyes5869 upon that which is not?369 for3588 riches certainly make6213 6213 themselves wings;3671 they fly away5774 as an eagle5404 toward heaven.8064

6 Eat3898 thou not408 853 the bread3899 of him that hath an evil7451 eye,5869 neither408 desire183 thou his dainty meats: 4303
7 For3588 as3644 he thinketh8176 in his heart,5315 so3651 is he:1931 Eat398 and drink,8354 saith559 he to thee; but his heart3820 is not1077 with thee.5973
8 The morsel6595 which thou hast eaten398 shalt thou vomit up,6958 and lose7843 thy sweet5273 words.1697
9 Speak1696 not408 in the ears241 of a fool:3684 for3588 he will despise936 the wisdom7922 of thy words.4405
10 Remove5253 not408 the old5769 landmark;1366 and enter935 not408 into the fields7704 of the fatherless: 3490
11 For3588 their redeemer1350 is mighty;2389 he1931 shall plead7378 853 their cause7379 with854 thee.
12 Apply935 thine heart3820 unto instruction,4148 and thine ears241 to the words561 of knowledge.1847
13 Withhold4513 not408 correction4148 from the child:4480 5288 for3588 if thou beatest5221 him with the rod,7626 he shall not3808 die.4191
14 Thou859 shalt beat5221 him with the rod,7626 and shalt deliver5337 his soul5315 from hell.4480 7585
15 My son,1121 if518 thine heart3820 be wise,2449 my heart3820 shall rejoice,8055 even1571 mine.589
16 Yea, my reins3629 shall rejoice,5937 when thy lips8193 speak1696 right things.4339
17 Let not408 thine heart3820 envy7065 sinners:2400 but3588 be thou in the fear3374 of the LORD3068 all3605 the day3117 long.
18 For3588 surely518 there is3426 an end;319 and thine expectation8615 shall not3808 be cut off.3772

19 Hear8085 thou,859 my son,1121 and be wise,2449 and guide833 thine heart3820 in the way.1870
20 Be1961 not408 among winebibbers;5433 3196 among riotous eaters2151 of flesh: 1320
21 For3588 the drunkard5433 and the glutton2151 shall come to poverty:3423 and drowsiness5124 shall clothe3847 a man with rags.7168
22 Hearken8085 unto thy father1 that2088 begot3205 thee, and despise936 not408 thy mother517 when3588 she is old.2204

25 Thy father1 and thy mother517 shall be glad,8055 and she that bore3205 thee shall rejoice.1523
26 My son,1121 give5414 me thine heart,3820 and let thine eyes5869 observe5341 my ways.1870
27 For3588 a whore2181 is a deep6013 ditch;7745 and a strange5237 woman is a narrow6862 pit.875
28 She1931 also637 lieth in wait693 as for a prey,2863 and increaseth3254 the transgressors898 among men.120

29 Who4310 hath woe?188 who4310 hath sorrow?17 who4310 hath contentions?4079 who4310 hath babbling?7879 who4310 hath wounds6482 without cause?2600 who4310 hath redness2448 of eyes?5869
30 They that tarry long309 at5921 the wine;3196 they that go935 to seek2713 mixed wine.4469
31 Look7200 not408 thou upon the wine3196 when3588 it is red,119 when3588 it giveth5414 his color5869 in the cup,3563 when it moveth itself1980 aright.4339
32 At the last319 it biteth5391 like a serpent,5175 and stingeth6567 like an adder.6848
33 Thine eyes5869 shall behold7200 strange women,2114 and thine heart3820 shall utter1696 perverse things.8419
34 Yea, thou shalt be1961 as he that lieth down7901 in the midst3820 of the sea,3220 or as he that lieth7901 upon the top7218 of a mast.2260
35 They have stricken5221 me, shalt thou say, and I was not1077 sick;2470 they have beaten1986 me, and I felt3045 it not:1077 when4970 shall I awake?6974 I will seek1245 it yet3254 again.5750
