箴言

第31章

1 利慕伊勒王的言語，是他母親教訓他的預言［prophecy］。

2 我的兒啊，我腹中生的兒啊，我許願得的兒啊。我當怎樣教訓你呢？

3 不要將你的精力給婦女；也不要有敗壞君王的行為。

4 利慕伊勒啊，君王喝酒，君王喝酒不相宜；王子喝濃酒［strong drink］也不相宜；

5 恐怕喝了就忘記律例，顛倒一切困苦人的是非。

6 可以把濃酒給將亡的人喝，把清酒給苦心的人喝，

7 讓他喝了，就忘記他的貧窮，不再記念他的苦楚。

8 你當為啞巴［dumb］開口，為一切要被滅絕的［appointed to destruction］伸冤。

9 你當開口按公義判斷，為困苦和窮乏的辨屈。

10 才德的婦人誰能得著呢？她的價值遠勝過紅寶石［rubies］。

11 她丈夫心裏倚靠她，必不缺少利益；

12 她一生使丈夫有益無損。

13 她尋找羊毛［wool］和麻，甘心用手作工。

14 她好像商船從遠方運糧來，

15 未到黎明她就起來，把食物分給家中的人，將當作的工分派婢女。

16 她想得田地就買來；用手所得之利栽種葡萄園。

17 她以能力束腰，使膀臂有力。

18 她覺得所經營的有利；她的燭［candle］終夜不滅。

19 她手拿捻線竿，手把紡線車。

20 她張手賙濟困苦人，伸手幫補窮乏人。

21 她不因下雪為家裏的人擔心，因為全家都穿著朱紅衣服。

22 她為自己製作繡花鋪蓋［coverings］；她的衣服是絲綢［silk］和紫色布作的。

23 她丈夫在城門口與本地的長老同坐，為眾人所認識。

24 她作細麻布衣服出賣，又將腰帶賣與商家。

25 能力和威儀是她的衣服；她想到日後的景況就喜笑。

26 她開口就發智慧；她舌上有仁慈的法則。

27 她觀察家務，並不吃閒懶的餅［bread of idleness］。

28 她的兒女起來稱她有福；她的丈夫也稱讚她，

29 說，才德的女子很多，唯獨妳超越她們［excellest them all］。

30 艷麗是虛假的，美容是虛浮的；唯敬畏耶和華的婦女必得稱讚。

31 願她享受操作所得的成果［fruit］；願她自己所作的［own works］在城門口稱讚［praise］她。

Proverbs

Chapter 31

1 THE words of Moael, a king and prophet, which his mother taught him, saying,

2 Oh my son! Oh the son of my womb! Oh the son of my vows!

3 Give not your strength to women, nor your ways to the extravagance of kings.

4 Of kings, O Moael, be careful of kings who drink wine; and of princes who drink strong drink,

5 Lest you drink and forget the law and forsake the judgment of the afflicted.

6 Let strong drink be given to those who mourn, and wine to those who are of heavy heart,

7 That they may drink, and forget their sorrows, and remember their miseries no more.

8 Open your mouth with words of truth, and judge all the sons of the wicked.

9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10 Who can find a diligent woman? For her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband safely trusts in her, and her food supplies never diminish.

12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and linen, and works willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchant's ship, she brings her merchandise from afar.

15 She rises also while it is yet night, and gives food to her household and work to her maids.

16 She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

17 She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is good; her lamp does not go out all night.

19 She stretches out her arms diligently, and puts her hands to the spindle.

20 She stretches out her hands to the poor; yea, she stretches forth her arms to the needy.

21 The members of her household are not afraid of snow; for all of them are clothed with scarlet.

22 She makes herself a covering of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in cities, when he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles to the merchants.

25 Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom; and upon her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 The ways of her household are above reproach, and she does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; and her husband also praises her.

29 Many daughters have become rich, but you have excelled them all.

30 Comeliness is deceitful and beauty is vain; but a woman who reverences the LORD shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gate.
