Hosea

Chapter 5

1 Hear8085 you this,2063 O priests;3548 and listen,7181 you house1004 of Israel;3478 and give you ear,238 O house1004 of the king;4428 for judgment4941 is toward you, because3588 you have been1961 a snare6341 on Mizpah,4709 and a net7568 spread6566 on Tabor.8396

2 And the rebels7846 are profound6009 to make slaughter,7819 though I have been a rebuker4148 of them all.3605

3 I know3045 Ephraim,669 and Israel3478 is not hid3582 from me: for now, O Ephraim,669 you commit2181 prostitution,2181 and Israel3478 is defiled.2930

4 They will not frame5414 their doings4611 to turn7725 to their God:430 for the spirit7307 of prostitutions2183 is in the middle7130 of them, and they have not known3045 the LORD.3068

5 And the pride1347 of Israel3478 does testify6030 to his face:6440 therefore shall Israel3478 and Ephraim669 fall3782 in their iniquity:5771 Judah3063 also1571 shall fall3782 with them.

6 They shall go3212 with their flocks6629 and with their herds1241 to seek1245 the LORD;3068 but they shall not find4672 him; he has withdrawn2502 himself from them.

7 They have dealt treacherously898 against the LORD:3068 for they have begotten3205 strange2114 children:1121 now6258 shall a month2320 devour398 them with their portions.2506

8 Blow8628 you the cornet7782 in Gibeah,1390 and the trumpet2689 in Ramah:7414 cry7321 aloud7321 at Bethaven,1007 after310 you, O Benjamin.1144

9 Ephraim669 shall be desolate8047 in the day3117 of rebuke:8433 among the tribes7626 of Israel3478 have I made known3045 that which shall surely539 be.

10 The princes8269 of Judah3063 were like them that remove5253 the bound:1366 therefore I will pour8210 out my wrath5678 on them like water.4325

11 Ephraim669 is oppressed6231 and broken7533 in judgment,4941 because3588 he willingly2974 walked1980 after310 the commandment.6673

12 Therefore will I be to Ephraim669 as a moth,6211 and to the house1004 of Judah3063 as rottenness.7538

13 When Ephraim669 saw7200 his sickness,2483 and Judah3063 saw his wound,4205 then went3212 Ephraim669 to the Assyrian,804 and sent7971 to king4428 Jareb:3377 yet could3201 he not heal7495 you, nor3808 cure1455 you of your wound.4205

14 For I will be to Ephraim669 as a lion,7826 and as a young3715 lion3715 to the house1004 of Judah:3063 I, even I, will tear2963 and go3212 away; I will take5375 away, and none369 shall rescue5337 him.

15 I will go3212 and return7725 to my place,4725 till5704 they acknowledge their offense,816 and seek1245 my face:6440 in their affliction6862 they will seek7836 me early.7836

Hosea

Chapter 5

1 HEAR this, O priests; and give ear, O house of Israel; and listen, O house of the king; for the judgment is for you, because you have been a snare to prophets and a net spread upon Tabor.

2 And the hunters who hunt have laid hidden snares, but I will chastise them all.

3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now Ephraim has committed whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

4 Their evil devices will not permit them to turn to their God; for the spirit of whoredom is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.

5 And the pride of Israel shall be humbled before his presence; and Israel and Ephraim shall fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.

6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him, because he has withdrawn himself from them.

7 They have dealt falsely with the LORD, for they have begotten alien children.

8 Blow the trumpet in Ramtha, blow the horn in Ramtha; cry aloud at Beth-aon; the enemy is after you, O Benjamin.

9 Ephraim shall be desolate in the clay of rebuke; among the tribes of Israel I have made known that which shall surely be.

10 The princes of Judah were like those who remove a landmark; therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

11 Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly went after vain things.

12 Therefore I will be as a tempest to Ephraim, and to the house of Judah as a lion.

13 When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah saw his wounds, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to the great king; but he cannot heal you nor cure you of your wounds.

14 For I will be to Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah; I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue.

15 I will return and go to my place, till they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face; in their affliction they will seek me early.
