Daniel

Chapter 10

1 In the third7969 year8141 of Cyrus3566 king4428 of Persia6539 a thing1697 was revealed1540 unto Daniel,1840 whose834 name8034 was called7121 Belteshazzar;1095 and the thing1697 was true,571 but the time appointed6635 was long:1419 and he understood995 853 the thing,1697 and had understanding998 of the vision.4758

2 In those1992 days3117 I589 Daniel1840 was1961 mourning56 three7969 full3117 weeks.7620

3 I ate398 no3808 pleasant2530 bread,3899 neither3808 came935 flesh1320 nor wine3196 in413 my mouth,6310 neither3808 did I anoint myself at all,5480 5480 till5704 three7969 whole3117 weeks7620 were fulfilled.4390

4 And in the four702 and twentieth6242 day3117 of the first7223 month,2320 as I589 was1961 by5921 the side3027 of the great1419 river,5104 which1931 is Hiddekel;2313

5 Then I lifted up5375 853 mine eyes,5869 and looked,7200 and behold2009 a certain259 man376 clothed3847 in linen,906 whose loins4975 were girded2296 with fine gold3800 of Uphaz: 210

6 His body1472 also was like the beryl,8658 and his face6440 as the appearance4758 of lightning,1300 and his eyes5869 as lamps3940 of fire,784 and his arms2220 and his feet4772 like in color5869 to polished7044 brass,5178 and the voice6963 of his words1697 like the voice6963 of a multitude.1995

7 And I589 Daniel1840 alone905 saw7200 853 the vision:4759 for the men376 that834 were1961 with5973 me saw7200 not3808 853 the vision;4759 but61 a great1419 quaking2731 fell5307 upon5921 them, so that they fled1272 to hide themselves.2244

8 Therefore I589 was left7604 alone,905 and saw7200 853 this2063 great1419 vision,4759 and there remained7604 no3808 strength3581 in me: for my comeliness1935 was turned2015 in5921 me into corruption,4889 and I retained6113 no3808 strength.3581

9 Yet heard8085 I853 the voice6963 of his words:1697 and when I heard8085 853 the voice6963 of his words,1697 then was1961 I589 in a deep sleep7290 on5921 my face,6440 and my face6440 toward the ground.776

10 And, behold,2009 a hand3027 touched5060 me, which set5128 me upon5921 my knees1290 and upon the palms3709 of my hands.3027

11 And he said559 unto413 me, O Daniel,1840 a man376 greatly beloved,2530 understand995 the words1697 that834 I595 speak1696 unto413 thee, and stand5975 upright:5921 5977 for3588 unto413 thee am I now6258 sent.7971 And when he had spoken1696 853 this2088 word1697 unto5973 me, I stood5975 trembling.7460

12 Then said559 he unto413 me, Fear3372 not,408 Daniel:1840 for3588 from4480 the first7223 day3117 that834 thou didst set5414 853 thine heart3820 to understand,995 and to chasten thyself6031 before6440 thy God,430 thy words1697 were heard,8085 and I589 am come935 for thy words.1697

13 But the prince8269 of the kingdom4438 of Persia6539 withstood5975 5048 me one259 and twenty6242 days:3117 but, lo,2009 Michael,4317 one259 of the chief7223 princes,8269 came935 to help5826 me; and I589 remained3498 there8033 with681 the kings4428 of Persia.6539

14 Now I am come935 to make thee understand995 853 what834 shall befall7136 thy people5971 in the latter319 days:3117 for3588 yet5750 the vision2377 is for many days.3117

15 And when he had spoken1696 such428 words1697 unto5973 me, I set5414 my face6440 toward the ground,776 and I became dumb.481

16 And, behold,2009 one like the similitude1823 of the sons1121 of men120 touched5060 5921 my lips:8193 then I opened6605 my mouth,6310 and spoke,1696 and said559 unto413 him that stood5975 before5048 me, O my lord,113 by the vision4758 my sorrows6735 are turned2015 upon5921 me, and I have retained6113 no3808 strength.3581

17 For how1963 can3201 the servant5650 of this2088 my lord113 talk1696 with5973 this2088 my lord?113 for as for me,589 straightway4480 6258 there remained5975 no3808 strength3581 in me, neither3808 is there breath5397 left7604 in me.

18 Then there came again3584 and touched5060 me one like the appearance4758 of a man,120 and he strengthened2388 me,

19 And said,559 O man376 greatly beloved,2530 fear3372 not:408 peace7965 be unto thee, be strong,2388 yea, be strong.2388 And when he had spoken1696 unto5973 me, I was strengthened,2388 and said,559 Let my lord113 speak;1696 for3588 thou hast strengthened2388 me.

20 Then said559 he, Knowest3045 thou wherefore4100 I come935 unto413 thee? and now6258 will I return7725 to fight3898 with5973 the prince8269 of Persia:6539 and when I589 am gone forth,3318 lo,2009 the prince8269 of Greece3120 shall come.935

21 But61 I will show5046 thee853 that which is noted7559 in the Scripture3791 of truth:571 and there is none369 259 that holdeth2388 with5973 me in5921 these things,428 but3588 518 Michael4317 your prince.8269

Chapter 10

1 IN the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the thing and the vision were discerned and understood with great difficulty.

2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three times seven weeks of days.

3 I ate no dainty food, neither meat nor wine entered into my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till fully three times seven weeks of days were fulfilled.

4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river Euphrates.

5 I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with glory and majesty.

6 His appearance was peculiar, and there is nothing like it; and his face as the appearance of lightning and his eyes as lamps of fire and his arms and his feet like the color of burnished brass and the sound of his words like the sound of many armies.

7 And I, Daniel, alone saw this vision; for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great fear fell upon them, so they fled because of the fear.

8 Wherefore I was left alone and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; and my heart trembled, and there was no strength in me.

9 And when I heard the sound of his words, I fell down upon my face on the ground;

10 And behold, a hand touched me and set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.

11 And he said to me, Arise, O Daniel, O man greatly beloved; understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for now I have been sent to you. And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling.

12 Then he said to me. Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that you did set your heart to comprehend so that you might stand before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come in response to your words.

13 The ruler of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but 1o, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there against the wishes of the ruler of Persia.

14 Now I have come to let you know what shall befall your people in the latter days; for yet the vision is for the end of the days appointed.

15 And when he had spoken these words to me, I set my face towards the ground and was speechless.

16 And behold, one resembling a man touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke and said to him who stood before me, O my LORD, by the vision my heart trembled and I was unable to rise.

17 For how can the servant of my lord talk with this my lord? For, behold, there is no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.

18 Then again the one whose appearance was like that of a man touched me and strengthened me,

19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not; peace be to you; have courage, be strong. And when he had spoken to me, I was strengthened and said, Let my lord speak; for I have been strengthened.

20 Then he said to me, Do you know why I have come to you? And now I will return to fight with the ruler of Persia; and when I went out, lo, the ruler of Greece came.

21 But I will show you that which is noted in the scripture of truth; and there is none to help me in these things but Michael your prince and myself.

18 Then there came again3584 and touched5060 me one like the appearance4758 of a man,120 and he strengthened2388 me,

18 Then again the one whose appearance was like that of a man touched me and strengthened me,

19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not; peace be to you; have courage, be strong. And when he had spoken to me, I was strengthened and said, Let my lord speak; for I have been strengthened.
