Chapter 5

1 AND they reached the port on the other side of the sea, in the country of the Gadarenes.

2 And as he went out of the boat, he was met by a man from the cemetery, who had an unclean spirit.

3 He lived in the cemetery, and no man could bind him in chains;

4 Because whenever he was bound with fetters and chains, he broke the chains and cut the fetters, and no man could control him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the cemetery and in the mountains, crying aloud and cutting himself with stones.

6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him,

7 And he cried with a loud voice and said, What have we got together, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, not to torment me.

8 For he said to him, Get out of the man, O you unclean spirit.

9 And he asked him, What is your name? And he said to him, Our name is Legion, because we are many.

10 And he begged him much that he would not send him out of the country.

11 Now there was there, near the mountain a large herd of swine feeding.

12 And the lunatics begged him saying, Send us to the swine, that we may attack * them.

13 And he permitted them. And the lunatics went out, and attacked the swine; and the herd ran to the steep rocks, and fell into the sea; they were about two thousand, and they were drowned in the water.

14 And those who fed them, fled, and told it in the city and also in the villages. So they went out to see what had happened.

15 And they came to Jesus, and saw the lunatic, * clothed and well behaved, and sitting down; even the one who once had the legion within him; and they were afraid.

16 And those who saw it told them just how it happened to the lunatic and also to the swine.

17 So they began to urge him to leave their border.

18 As he went up to the boat, the lunatic begged him to remain with him.

19 And he would not permit him, but said to him, Go to your home, to your own people, and tell them what the Lord has done for you, and had mercy on you.

20 And he went away, and began to preach in the ten cities about what Jesus had done for him; and they were all surprised.

21 When Jesus crossed in the boat to the other side, large crowds again gathered around him, while he was by the sea.

22 And there came one of the leaders of the synagogue, whose name was Jairus; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

23 And he beseeched him much and said to him, My daughter is very seriously ill; come and lay your hand on her, and she will be healed, and live.

24 So Jesus went with him; and a large multitude followed him, and they pressed on him.

25 And there was a woman who had had the hemorrhage for twelve years,

26 Who had suffered much at the hands of many doctors, and had spent everything she had, and was not helped at all, but rather became worse.

27 When she heard concerning Jesus, she came through the dense crowd from behind him, and touched his cloak.

28 For she said, If I can only touch his cloak, I will live.

29 And immediately the hemorrhage was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

30 Jesus instantly knew that some power had gone out of him; so he turned around to the people and said, Who touched my garments?

31 His disciples said to him, You see the people pressing on you, and yet you say, Who touched me?

32 And he was looking round to see who had done this.

33 But the woman, frightened and trembling, because she knew what had happened to her, came and fell before him and told him the whole truth.

34 He said to her, My daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.

35 While he was still talking, some men came from the house of the leader of the synagogue, saying, Your daughter is dead; why do you trouble the Teacher?

36 Jesus heard the word which they spoke, and he said to the leader of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe.

37 And he did not permit any man to go with him, except Simon Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

38 And they came to the house of the leader of the synagogue, and he saw them in a tumult, weeping and wailing.

39 So he entered and said to them, Why are you excited and crying? The little girl is not dead, but she is asleep.

40 And they laughed at him. But Jesus put them all out, and took the little girl's father and mother and those who were with him, and he entered where the little girl was laid.

41 And he took the little girl by her hand, and said to her, Talitha, koomi, which means, Little girl, rise up.

42 And immediately the little girl got up and walked; for she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

43 But he commanded them that no man should know this; and he told them to give her something to eat.

13 Und2532 alsbald2112 erlaubete ihnen846 JEsus2424. Da fuhren1831 die unsaubern169 Geister4151 aus und2532 fuhren1525 in1519 die Säue5519 und2532 die Herde34 stürzte sich3729 mit1722 einem Sturm ins1519 Meer2281 (ihrer war2258 aber bei5613 zweitausend1367) und2532 ersoffen4155 im2596 Meer.

17 Und2532 sie846 fingen an756 und baten3870 ihn, daß er846 aus565 ihrer575 Gegend3725 zöge.

18 Und2532 da er846 in1519 das Schiff4143 trat1684, bat3870 ihn der Besessene1139, daß2443 er möchte5600 bei3326 ihm sein.

19 Aber1161 JEsus2424 ließ es ihm846 nicht3756 zu4314, sondern235 sprach3004 zu ihm846: Gehe5217 hin in dein4675 Haus und2532 zu den Deinen4674 und2532 verkündige312 ihnen846, wie große3745 Wohltat dir4671 der HErr2962 getan4160 und sich863 deiner4571 erbarmet1653 hat.

20 Und2532 er846 ging565 hin und2532 fing756 an auszurufen2784 in1722 den zehn Städten1179, wie große3745 Wohltat ihm JEsus2424 getan4160 hatte. Und2532 jedermann3956 verwunderte2296 sich.

21 Und2532 da JEsus2424 wieder3825 herüberfuhr1276 im1909 Schiff4143, versammelte4863 sich viel4183 Volks3793 zu1722 ihm846 und2532 war2258 an1519 dem Meer2281.

29 Und2532 alsbald2112 vertrocknete3583 der Brunn ihres Bluts129; und2532 sie846 fühlte es am Leibe4983, daß3754 sie1097 von575 ihrer Plage3148 war gesund2390 worden.

30 Und2532 JEsus2424 fühlete alsbald an2112 ihm selbst1438 die Kraft1411, die von1537 ihm ausgegangen war1831, und wandte1994 sich848 um1722 zum Volk3793 und sprach3004: Wer5101 hat1722 meine3450 Kleider2440 angerühret?

31 Und2532 die Jünger3101 sprachen3004 zu ihm846: Du991 siehest, daß dich4571 das Volk3793 dränget, und2532 sprichst3004: Wer5101 hat680 mich3450 angerühret?

32 Und2532 er sah sich4017 um nach der, die5124 das1492 getan4160 hatte.

34 Er sprach2036 aber1161 zu1519 ihr846: Meine Tochter2364, dein4675 Glaube4102 hat dich4571 gesund4982 gemacht. Gehe5217 hin mit Frieden1515 und2532 sei2468 gesund4982 von575 deiner4675 Plage3148!

35 Da er846 noch2089 also redete2980, kamen2064 etliche vom575 Gesinde des Obersten der Schule752 und sprachen: Deine4675 Tochter2364 ist gestorben599, was5101 mühest du weiter2089 den Meister1320?

36 JEsus2424 aber hörete bald2112 die Rede3056, die da gesagt ward2980, und sprach3004 zu191 dem Obersten der Schule752: Fürchte5399 dich5399 nicht3361; glaube4100 nur3440!

37 Und2532 ließ863 niemand3756 ihm nachfolgen4870 denn1508 Petrus4074 und2532 Jakobus2385 und2532 Johannes2491, den Bruder80 des846 Jakobus2385.

38 Und2532 er kam2064 in1519 das Haus3624 des Obersten der Schule752 und2532 sah2334 das Getümmel2351, und2532 die da sehr4183 weineten und heuleten

39 Und2532 er ging hinein1525 und2532 sprach3004 zu ihnen: Was5101 tummelt2350 und weinet2799 ihr846? Das Kind3813 ist599 nicht3756 gestorben599, sondern235 es schläft2518. Und sie verlachten ihn.

40 Und2532 er846 trieb1544 sie537 alle aus1544 und1161 nahm3880 mit3326 sich den Vater3962 des846 Kindes3813 und2532 die Mutter3384 und2532 die bei ihm waren2258, und2532 ging hinein1531, da3699 das Kind3813 lag.

41 Und2532 ergriff2902 das3739 Kind3813 bei der Hand5495 und sprach3004 zu ihr846: Talitha5008, kumi2891! das ist2076 verdolmetschet: Mägdlein2877, ich sage3004 dir4671, stehe auf1453!

42 Und2532 alsbald2112 stund das Mägdlein2877 auf450 und wandelte4043; es war2258 aber zwölf1427 Jahre2094 alt. Und sie entsetzten1839 sich über3173 die Maßen1611.

43 Und2532 er846 verbot1291 ihnen hart4183, daß2443 es5124 niemand3367 wissen1097 sollte, und2532 sagte2036, sie sollten ihr846 zu essen5315 geben1325.
