Jeremiah

Chapter 52

1 ZEDEKIAH was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2 And he did that which was evil before the LORD. according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

3 Because of these evils the anger of the LORD came against Jerusalem and against Judah till he had cast them out from his presence, and King Zedekiah rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem and encamped against it and built forts against it round about.

5 So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

6 And in the fifth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

7 Then the city was breached, and all the men of war fled and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were round about the city), and they went by the way of the plain.

8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plain of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

9 Then they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Diblath in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he slew also all the princes of Judah in Diblath.

11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him in chains, and the king of Babylon carried him to Babylon and put him in prison till the day of his death.

12 Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, came and stood before the king of Babylon to serve him in Jerusalem;

13 And he burned the house of the LORD and the house of the king of Judah and all the houses of Jerusalem and all the houses of the princes he burned with fire;

14 And all the army of the Chaldeans that were with the general of the guard broke down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.

15 Then Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, carried away captive some of the poor of the people and the rest of the people who were left in the city and those who had fled to the king of Babylon and the rest of the people of the land.

16 But Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, left some of the poor of the land for vine-dressers and for other work.

17 And the pillars of brass and the wine vessels and the bronze sea that were in the house of the LORD the Chaldeans broke in pieces, and they took all the brass of them and carried it to Babylon.

18 The pots, also, and the caldrons and the hanging pots and the sprinklers and the spoons and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered they took away.

19 And the braziers and the censers and the bowls and the pots and the candlesticks, and the spoons and the cups which were made of gold and of silver the general of the guard took away.

20 The two bronze pillars, one sea, the twelve bronze bulls which were under the sea, which King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

21 And as for the pillars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a fillet of twelve cubits encircled it, and its thickness was four fingers, and it was hollow.

22 And a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of one chapiter was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capitals round about, all of brass. The second pillar and the pomegranates were the same.

23 And there were ninety-six pomegranates on the side; all the pomegranates upon the network were one hundred round about.

24 And the general of the guard took Sheraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest and the three keepers of the doors;

25 He took also from the city a eunuch who had been in charge of the men of war, and seven prominent men who had attended the king's person, who were found in the city, and the scribe the commander in chief of the army, who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the midst of the city.

26 So Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon to Diblath.

27 And the king of Babylon smote them and put them to death in Diblath in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land.

28 This is the number of people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive in the seventh year of his reign: three thousand and twenty-three Jews;

29 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons;

30 In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.

31 And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiakim king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-fifth day of the month, Aol-merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, honored Jehoiakim king of Judah and brought him out of prison.

32 And he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

33 And changed his prison garments; and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.

34 And for his portion, there was a continual allowance given him of the king of Babylon, every day until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

Chapter 52

1 Zedekiah6667 was one259 and twenty6242 years8141 old1121 when he began to reign,4427 and he reigned4427 eleven259 6240 years8141 in Jerusalem.3389 And his mother's517 name8034 was Hamutal2537 the daughter1323 of Jeremiah3414 of Libnah.3841

2 And he did6213 that which was evil7451 in the eyes5869 of the LORD,3068 according to all3605 that Jehoiakim3079 had done.6213

3 For through5921 the anger639 of the LORD3068 it came1961 to pass in Jerusalem3389 and Judah,3063 till5704 he had cast7993 them out from his presence,6440 that Zedekiah6667 rebelled4775 against the king4428 of Babylon.894

4 And it came1961 to pass in the ninth8671 year8141 of his reign,4427 in the tenth6224 month,2320 in the tenth6218 day of the month,2320 that Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894 came,935 he and all3605 his army,2428 against5921 Jerusalem,3389 and pitched2583 against5921 it, and built1129 forts1785 against5921 it round5439 about.

5 So the city5892 was besieged935 4692 to the eleventh6240 year8141 of king4428 Zedekiah.6667

6 And in the fourth7243 month,2320 in the ninth8672 day of the month,2320 the famine7458 was sore2388 in the city,5892 so that there was no3808 bread3899 for the people5971 of the land.776

7 Then the city5892 was broken1234 up, and all3605 the men582 of war4421 fled,1272 and went3318 forth3318 out of the city5892 by night3915 by the way1870 of the gate8179 between996 the two walls,2346 which834 was by the king's4428 garden;1588 (now the Chaldeans3778 were by the city5892 round5439 about:) and they went3212 by the way1870 of the plain.6160

8 But the army2428 of the Chaldeans3779 pursued7291 after310 the king,4428 and overtook5381 Zedekiah6667 in the plains6160 of Jericho;3405 and all3605 his army2428 was scattered6327 from him.

9 Then they took8610 the king,4428 and carried5927 him up to the king4428 of Babylon894 to Riblah7247 in the land776 of Hamath;2574 where he gave1696 judgment4941 on him.

10 And the king4428 of Babylon894 slew7819 the sons1121 of Zedekiah6667 before his eyes:5869 he slew7819 also1571 all3605 the princes8269 of Judah3063 in Riblah.7247

11 Then he put5786 out the eyes5869 of Zedekiah;6667 and the king4428 of Babylon894 bound631 him in chains,5178 and carried935 him to Babylon,894 and put5414 him in prison1004 6486 till5704 the day3117 of his death.4194

12 Now in the fifth2549 month,2320 in the tenth6218 day of the month,2320 which1958 was the nineteenth8672 6240 year8141 of Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon,894 came935 Nebuzaradan,5018 captain7227 of the guard,2876 which served5975 6440 the king4428 of Babylon,894 into Jerusalem,3389

13 And burned8313 the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and the king's4428 house;1004 and all3605 the houses1004 of Jerusalem,3389 and all3605 the houses1004 of the great1419 men, burned8313 he with fire:784

14 And all3605 the army2428 of the Chaldeans,3779 that were with the captain7227 of the guard,2876 broke5422 down5422 all3605 the walls2346 of Jerusalem3389 round5439 about.

15 Then Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 carried1540 away captive1540 certain of the poor1803 of the people,5971 and the residue3499 of the people5971 that remained7604 in the city,5892 and those that fell5307 away, that fell5307 to the king4428 of Babylon,894 and the rest3499 of the multitude.527

16 But Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 left7604 certain of the poor1803 of the land776 for vinedressers3755 and for farmers.3009

17 Also the pillars5982 of brass5178 that were in the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and the bases,4350 and the brazen5178 sea3220 that was in the house1004 of the LORD,3068 the Chaldeans3779 broke,7665 and carried5375 all3605 the brass5178 of them to Babylon.894

18 The caldrons5518 also, and the shovels,3257 and the snuffers,4212 and the bowls,4219 and the spoons,3709 and all3605 the vessels3627 of brass5178 with which834 they ministered,8334 took3947 they away.

19 And the basins,5592 and the fire pans,4289 and the bowls,4219 and the caldrons,5518 and the candlesticks,4501 and the spoons,3709 and the cups;4518 that which834 was of gold2091 in gold,2091 and that which834 was of silver3701 in silver,3701 took3947 the captain7227 of the guard2876 away.

20 The two8147 pillars,5982 one259 sea,3220 and twelve8147 6240 brazen5178 bulls1241 that were under8478 the bases,4350 which834 king4428 Solomon8010 had made6213 in the house1004 of the LORD:3068 the brass5178 of all3605 these428 vessels3627 was without3808 weight.4948

21 And concerning the pillars,5982 the height6967 of one259 pillar5982 was eighteen8083 6240 cubits;520 and a fillet2339 of twelve8147 6240 cubits520 did compass5437 it; and the thickness5672 thereof was four702 fingers:676 it was hollow.5014

22 And a capital3805 of brass5178 was on it; and the height6967 of one259 capital3805 was five2568 cubits,520 with network7639 and pomegranates7416 on the capitals3805 round5439 about, all3605 of brass.5178 The second8145 pillar5982 also and the pomegranates7416 were like to these.428

23 And there were ninety8673 and six8337 pomegranates7416 on a side;7307 and all3605 the pomegranates7416 on the network7639 were an hundred3967 round5439 about.

24 And the captain7227 of the guard2876 took3947 Seraiah8304 the chief7218 priest,3548 and Zephaniah6846 the second4932 priest,3548 and the three7969 keepers8104 of the door:5592

25 He took3947 also out of the city5892 an eunuch,5631 which834 had1961 the charge6496 of the men582 of war;4421 and seven7651 men582 of them that were near7200 the king's4428 person,6440 which834 were found4672 in the city;5892 and the principal8269 scribe5608 of the host,6635 who mustered6633 the people5971 of the land;776 and three score7657 men376 of the people5971 of the land,776 that were found4672 in the middle8432 of the city.5892

26 So Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 took3947 them, and brought3212 them to the king4428 of Babylon894 to Riblah.7247

27 And the king4428 of Babylon894 smote5221 them, and put them to death4191 in Riblah7247 in the land127 of Hamath.2574 Thus Judah3063 was carried1540 away captive1540 out of his own land.127

28 This2088 is the people5971 whom834 Nebuchadrezzar5019 carried1540 away captive:1540 in the seventh7651 year8141 three7969 thousand505 Jews3064 and three7969 and twenty:6242

31 And it came1961 to pass in the seven7651 and thirtieth7970 year8141 of the captivity1546 of Jehoiachin3078 king4428 of Judah,3063 in the twelfth8147 6240 month,2320 in the five2568 and twentieth6242 day of the month,2320 that Evilmerodach192 king4428 of Babylon894 in the first year8141 of his reign4438 lifted5375 up the head7218 of Jehoiachin3078 king4428 of Judah,3063 and brought3318 him forth3318 out of prison.3608

32 And spoke1696 kindly2896 to him, and set5414 his throne3678 above4605 the throne3678 of the kings4428 that were with him in Babylon,894

33 And changed8138 his prison3608 garments:899 and he did continually8548 eat398 bread3899 before6440 him all3605 the days3117 of his life.2416

34 And for his diet,737 there was a continual8548 diet737 given5414 him of the king4428 of Babylon,894 every day3117 a portion1697 until5704 the day3117 of his death,4194 all3605 the days3117 of his life.2416

Jeremiah

Chapter 52

1 ZEDEKIAH was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2 And he did that which was evil before the LORD. according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

2 And he did6213 that which was evil7451 in the eyes5869 of the LORD,3068 according to all3605 that Jehoiakim3079 had done.6213

3 Because of these evils the anger of the LORD came against Jerusalem and against Judah till he had cast them out from his presence, and King Zedekiah rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

3 For through5921 the anger639 of the LORD3068 it came1961 to pass in Jerusalem3389 and Judah,3063 till5704 he had cast7993 them out from his presence,6440 that Zedekiah6667 rebelled4775 against the king4428 of Babylon.894

4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem and encamped against it and built forts against it round about.

5 So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

5 So the city5892 was besieged935 4692 to the eleventh6240 year8141 of king4428 Zedekiah.6667

6 And in the fifth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

6 And in the fourth7243 month,2320 in the ninth8672 day of the month,2320 the famine7458 was sore2388 in the city,5892 so that there was no3808 bread3899 for the people5971 of the land.776

7 Then the city was breached, and all the men of war fled and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden (now the Chaldeans were round about the city), and they went by the way of the plain.

8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plain of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

8 But the army2428 of the Chaldeans3779 pursued7291 after310 the king,4428 and overtook5381 Zedekiah6667 in the plains6160 of Jericho;3405 and all3605 his army2428 was scattered6327 from him.

9 Then they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Diblath in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

9 Then they took8610 the king,4428 and carried5927 him up to the king4428 of Babylon894 to Riblah7247 in the land776 of Hamath;2574 where he gave1696 judgment4941 on him.

10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he slew also all the princes of Judah in Diblath.

10 And the king4428 of Babylon894 slew7819 the sons1121 of Zedekiah6667 before his eyes:5869 he slew7819 also1571 all3605 the princes8269 of Judah3063 in Riblah.7247

11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him in chains, and the king of Babylon carried him to Babylon and put him in prison till the day of his death.

11 Then he put5786 out the eyes5869 of Zedekiah;6667 and the king4428 of Babylon894 bound631 him in chains,5178 and carried935 him to Babylon,894 and put5414 him in prison1004 6486 till5704 the day3117 of his death.4194

12 Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, came and stood before the king of Babylon to serve him in Jerusalem;

13 And he burned the house of the LORD and the house of the king of Judah and all the houses of Jerusalem and all the houses of the princes he burned with fire;

13 And burned8313 the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and the king's4428 house;1004 and all3605 the houses1004 of Jerusalem,3389 and all3605 the houses1004 of the great1419 men, burned8313 he with fire:784

14 And all the army of the Chaldeans that were with the general of the guard broke down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.

14 And all3605 the army2428 of the Chaldeans,3779 that were with the captain7227 of the guard,2876 broke5422 down5422 all3605 the walls2346 of Jerusalem3389 round5439 about.

15 Then Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, carried away captive some of the poor of the people and the rest of the people who were left in the city and those who had fled to the king of Babylon and the rest of the people of the land.

16 But Nebuzaradan, the general of the guard, left some of the poor of the land for vine-dressers and for other work.

16 But Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 left7604 certain of the poor1803 of the land776 for vinedressers3755 and for farmers.3009

17 And the pillars of brass and the wine vessels and the bronze sea that were in the house of the LORD the Chaldeans broke in pieces, and they took all the brass of them and carried it to Babylon.

18 The pots, also, and the caldrons and the hanging pots and the sprinklers and the spoons and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered they took away.

18 The caldrons5518 also, and the shovels,3257 and the snuffers,4212 and the bowls,4219 and the spoons,3709 and all3605 the vessels3627 of brass5178 with which834 they ministered,8334 took3947 they away.

19 And the braziers and the censers and the bowls and the pots and the candlesticks, and the spoons and the cups which were made of gold and of silver the general of the guard took away.

20 The two bronze pillars, one sea, the twelve bronze bulls which were under the sea, which King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

21 And as for the pillars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a fillet of twelve cubits encircled it, and its thickness was four fingers, and it was hollow.

22 And a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of one chapiter was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capitals round about, all of brass. The second pillar and the pomegranates were the same.

23 And there were ninety-six pomegranates on the side; all the pomegranates upon the network were one hundred round about.
