Job

Chapter 32

1 SO these three men who wanted to condemn Job ceased answering him, because he was found righteous in their eyes.

2 Then Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was angry; so his wrath against Job kindled, because he justified himself more than God.

3 His wrath also kindled against his three friends, because they had found no answer to Job so that they might condemn him.

4 Now Elihu had waited to correct Job with words, because the other men were older than he.

5 When Elihu saw that these three were unable to answer Job, then he was incensed.

6 And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, Because I am younger than you in days and you are old, therefore I was afraid, and did not dare to show you my knowledge.

7 For I said, Days should speak, and the multitude of years should teach wisdom.

8 Truly, there is a spirit in men; and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.

9 It is not age that makes men wise; nor do the aged always understand judgment.

10 Therefore I say, Hearken to me; I also will show you my knowledge.

11 Behold, I kept silent while you spoke; I gave ear until you made an end of speaking, while you searched for words.

12 Yea, I understood your testimony, and, behold, there was none of you that could reprove Job, or that could answer his words,

13 So that you could not say, We have found wisdom. God has smitten him, not man.

14 Now Job has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.

15 They were silent, they answered him no more; their words were all spent, so they held their peace;

16 They did not speak; they stood still, and answered him no more.

17 I will answer also on my part; I also will show my knowledge.

18 For I am full of words; the spirit within me constrains me.

19 Behold, I cannot restrain myself, nor can I find relief; I can no longer hold myself from talking.

20 I will speak so that I may find relief; I will open my lips and answer.

21 I will not be partial toward any person, neither will I be ashamed of the presence of any one.

22 For I do not know what shame is; else would my Almighty One soon take me away.

4 Now Elihu453 had waited2442 till Job347 had spoken,1697 because3588 they were elder2205 3117 than he.

5 When Elihu453 saw7200 that there was no369 answer4617 in the mouth6310 of these three7969 men,582 then his wrath639 was kindled.2734

6 And Elihu453 the son1121 of Barachel1292 the Buzite940 answered6030 and said,559 I am young,6810 3117 and you are very3453 old;3453 why5921 3651 I was afraid,2119 and dared3372 not show2331 you my opinion.1843

7 I said,559 Days3117 should speak,1696 and multitude7230 of years8141 should teach3045 wisdom.2451

8 But there is a spirit7307 in man:582 and the inspiration5397 of the Almighty7706 gives them understanding.995

9 Great7227 men are not always wise:2449 neither do the aged2205 understand995 judgment.4941

10 Therefore3651 I said,559 Listen8085 to me; I also637 will show2331 my opinion.1843

11 Behold,2005 I waited3176 for your words;1697 I gave ear238 to your reasons,8394 whilst5704 you searched2713 out what to say.4405

12 Yes, I attended995 to you, and, behold,2009 there was none369 of you that convinced3198 Job,347 or that answered6030 his words:561

13 Lest6435 you should say,559 We have found4672 out wisdom:2451 God410 thrusts5086 him down, not man.376

14 Now he has not directed6186 his words4405 against413 me: neither3808 will I answer7725 him with your speeches.561

15 They were amazed,2865 they answered6030 no3808 more:5750 they left6275 off speaking.4405

16 When I had waited,3176 (for they spoke1696 not, but stood5975 still,5975 and answered6030 no3808 more;5750)

17 I said, I will answer6030 also637 my part,2506 I also637 will show2331 my opinion.1843

18 For I am full4390 of matter,4405 the spirit7307 within990 me constrains6693 me.

19 Behold,2009 my belly990 is as wine3196 which has no3808 vent;6605 it is ready to burst1234 like new2319 bottles.178

20 I will speak,1696 that I may be refreshed:7304 I will open6605 my lips8193 and answer.6030

21 Let me not, I pray4994 you, accept5375 any man's376 person,6440 neither3808 let me give flattering3655 titles to man.120

22 For I know3045 not to give flattering3655 titles; in so doing my maker6213 would soon4592 take5375 me away.
