Luke

Chapter 13

1 AT that time, there came some men and told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2 And Jesus answered and said to them, Do you think that those Galileans were greater sinners than all the Galileans, because this happened to them?

3 No; but I say to you, that all of you also, if you do not repent, you will perish in the same way.

4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and it killed them; do you think that they were greater sinners than all the men who live in Jerusalem?

5 No, but I say to you, that unless you repent, all of you will perish like them.

6 And he spoke this parable; A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit on it, and he did not find any.

7 So he said to the laborer, Behold, for three years, I have been coming and seeking fruit on this fig tree, and found none; cut it down; why should it waste the ground?

8 The laborer said to him, My lord, let it remain this year also, until I work it and fertilize it.

9 It might bear fruit; and if not, then you can cut it down.

10 While Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath,

11 There was there a woman who was afflicted with rheumatism for eighteen years; and was bent down and could never straighten herself at all.

12 Jesus saw her, and called her, and said to her, Woman, you are loosened from your sickness.

13 And he laid his hand on her, and immediately she straightened up, and praised God.

14 But the leader of the synagogue answered with anger, because Jesus healed on the sabbath; and he said to the people, There are six days in which men should work; in those days you ought to come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 Jesus answered and said to him, O hypocrites, does not each one of you loosen his ox or his ass, from the manger, and go with it to give it drink?

16 This one is a daughter of Abraham, and behold, the adversary has bound her for eighteen years; was it not necessary for her to be loosened from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 And when he said these things, all who opposed him were ashamed; and all the people rejoiced over all the wonders which were done by his hand.

18 Jesus said, To what is the kingdom of God like? and to what shall I liken it?

19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his garden, and it grew and became a large tree, and the fowls of the sky settled on its branches.

20 Again Jesus said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God?

21 It is like the leaven which a woman took and buried in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.

22 And he journeyed through the villages and cities, teaching, and going to Jerusalem.

23 A man asked him, Are there only a few who are to be saved? Jesus said to them,

24 Strive to enter in through the narrow door; for I say to you, that many will seek to enter in, and will not be able.

25 From the hour when the master of the house rises up and locks the door, you will be standing outside and knocking at the door, and you will begin to say, Our Lord, our Lord, open for us; and he will answer and say, I say to you, I do not know you where you come from.

26 And you will begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you taught in our streets.

27 And he will say to you, I do not know you where you come from; depart from me, O you workers of iniquity.

28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, and Isaac and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you thrown outside.

29 And they will come from the east and from the west, and from the south and from the north, and sit down in the kingdom of God.

30 And behold, there are some who are last, who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.

31 In that very day, some of the men of the Pharisees drew near and said to him, Get out and go away from here; because Herod wants to kill you.

32 Jesus said to them, Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out demons, and I heal today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will be through.

33 But I must do my work today and tomorrow, and I will leave the next day; because it is impossible that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.

34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, murderess of prophets, and stoner of those who are sent to her! how many times I longed to gather your children together, as a hen which gathers her chickens under her wings, but you were not willing!

35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, that you will not see me until you say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

1 There1161 were present3918 at1722 that846 season2540 some5100 that told518 him846 of4012 the3588 Galilaeans,1057 whose3739 blood129 Pilate4091 had mingled3396 with3326 their846 sacrifices.2378

2 And2532 Jesus2424 answering611 said2036 unto them,846 Suppose1380 ye that3754 these3778 Galilaeans1057 were1096 sinners268 above3844 all3956 the3588 Galilaeans,1057 because3754 they suffered3958 such things?5108

3 I tell3004 you,5213 Nay: 3780 but,235 except1437 3361 ye repent,3340 ye shall all3956 likewise5615 perish.622

4 Or2228 those1565 eighteen,1176 2532 3638 upon1909 whom3739 the3588 tower4444 in1722 Siloam4611 fell,4098 and2532 slew615 them,846 think1380 ye that3754 they3778 were1096 sinners3781 above3844 all3956 men444 that dwelt2730 in1722 Jerusalem?2419

5 I tell3004 you,5213 Nay: 3780 but,235 except1437 3361 ye repent,3340 ye shall all3956 likewise3668 perish.622

6 He spake3004 also1161 this5026 parable;3850 A certain5100 man had2192 a fig tree4808 planted5452 in1722 his848 vineyard;290 and2532 he came2064 and sought2212 fruit2590 thereon,1722 846 and2532 found2147 none.3756

7 Then1161 said2036 he unto4314 the3588 dresser of his vineyard,289 Behold,2400 these three5140 years2094 I come2064 seeking2212 fruit2590 on1722 this5026 fig tree,4808 and2532 find2147 none: 3756 cut it down;1581 846 why2444 2532 encumbereth2673 it the3588 ground?1093

8 And1161 he3588 answering611 said3004 unto him,846 Lord,2962 let it alone863 846 this5124 year2094 also,2532 till2193 3755 I shall dig4626 about4012 it,846 and2532 dung906 2874 it:

9 And if2579 it3303 bear4160 fruit,2590 well: and if not,1490 then after that1519 3195 thou shalt cut it down.1581 846

10 And1161 he was2258 teaching1321 in1722 one3391 of the3588 synagogues4864 on1722 the3588 sabbath.4521

11 And,2532 behold,2400 there was2258 a woman1135 which had2192 a spirit4151 of infirmity769 eighteen1176 2532 3638 years,2094 and2532 was2258 bowed together,4794 and2532 could1410 in no wise3361 1519 3838 lift up352 herself.

12 And1161 when Jesus2424 saw1492 her,846 he called4377 her to him, and2532 said2036 unto her,846 Woman,1135 thou art loosed630 from thine4675 infirmity.769

13 And2532 he laid2007 his hands5495 on her:846 and2532 immediately3916 she was made straight,461 and2532 glorified1392 God.2316

14 And1161 the3588 ruler of the synagogue752 answered611 with indignation,23 because3754 that Jesus2424 had healed2323 on the3588 sabbath day,4521 and said3004 unto the3588 people,3793 There are1526 six1803 days2250 in1722 which3739 men ought1163 to work:2038 in1722 them5025 therefore3767 come2064 and2532 be healed,2323 and2532 not3361 on the3588 sabbath4521 day.2250

15 The3588 Lord2962 then3767 answered611 him,846 and2532 said,2036 Thou hypocrite,5273 doth not3756 each one1538 of you5216 on the3588 sabbath4521 loose3089 his848 ox1016 or2228 his ass3688 from575 the3588 stall,5336 and2532 lead him away520 to watering?4222

16 And1161 ought1163 not3756 this woman,5026 being5607 a daughter2364 of Abraham,11 whom3739 Satan4567 hath bound,1210 lo,2400 these eighteen1176 2532 3638 years,2094 be loosed3089 from575 this5127 bond1199 on the3588 sabbath4521 day?2250

17 And2532 when he846 had said3004 these things,5023 all3956 his846 adversaries480 were ashamed:2617 and2532 all3956 the3588 people3793 rejoiced5463 for1909 all3956 the3588 glorious things1741 that were done1096 by5259 him.846

18 Then1161 said3004 he, Unto what5101 is2076 the3588 kingdom932 of God2316 like?3664 and2532 whereunto5101 shall I resemble3666 it?846

19 It is2076 like3664 a grain2848 of mustard seed,4615 which3739 a man444 took,2983 and cast906 into1519 his1438 garden;2779 and2532 it grew,837 and2532 waxed1096 a great3173 tree;1186 and2532 the3588 fowls4071 of the3588 air3772 lodged2681 in1722 the3588 branches2798 of it.846

20 And2532 again3825 he said,2036 Whereunto5101 shall I liken3666 the3588 kingdom932 of God?2316

21 It is2076 like3664 leaven,2219 which3739 a woman1135 took2983 and hid1470 in1519 three5140 measures4568 of meal,224 till2193 3757 the whole3650 was leavened.2220

22 And2532 he went1279 through2596 the cities4172 and2532 villages,2968 teaching,1321 and2532 journeying4160 4197 toward1519 Jerusalem.2419

23 Then1161 said2036 one5100 unto him,846 Lord,2962 are1487 there few3641 that be saved?4982 And1161 he3588 said2036 unto4314 them,846

24 Strive75 to enter in1525 at1223 the3588 strait4728 gate: 4439 for3754 many,4183 I say3004 unto you,5213 will seek2212 to enter in,1525 and2532 shall not3756 be able.2480

25 When once575 3739 302 the3588 master of the house3617 is risen up,1453 and2532 hath shut to608 the3588 door,2374 and2532 ye begin756 to stand2476 without,1854 and2532 to knock2925 at the3588 door,2374 saying,3004 Lord,2962 Lord,2962 open455 unto us;2254 and2532 he shall answer611 and say2046 unto you,5213 I know1492 you5209 not3756 whence4159 ye are: 2075

26 Then5119 shall ye begin756 to say,3004 We have eaten5315 and2532 drunk4095 in thy presence,1799 4675 and2532 thou hast taught1321 in1722 our2257 streets.4113

27 But2532 he shall say,2046 I tell3004 you,5213 I know1492 you5209 not3756 whence4159 ye are;2075 depart868 from575 me,1700 all3956 ye workers2040 of iniquity.93

28 There1563 shall be2071 weeping2805 and2532 gnashing1030 of teeth,3599 when3752 ye shall see3700 Abraham,11 and2532 Isaac,2464 and2532 Jacob,2384 and2532 all3956 the3588 prophets,4396 in1722 the3588 kingdom932 of God,2316 and1161 you5209 yourselves thrust1544 out.1854

29 And2532 they shall come2240 from575 the east,395 and2532 from the west,1424 and2532 from575 the north,1005 and2532 from the south,3558 and2532 shall sit down347 in1722 the3588 kingdom932 of2316 God.

30 And,2532 behold,2400 there are1526 last2078 which3739 shall be2071 first,4413 and2532 there are1526 first4413 which3739 shall be2071 last.2078

31 The1722 same846 day2250 there came4334 certain5100 of the Pharisees,5330 saying3004 unto him,846 Get thee out,1831 and2532 depart4198 hence:1782 for3754 Herod2264 will2309 kill615 thee.4571

32 And2532 he said2036 unto them,846 Go4198 ye, and tell2036 that5026 fox,258 Behold,2400 I cast out1544 devils,1140 and2532 I do2005 cures2392 today4594 and2532 tomorrow,839 and2532 the3588 third5154 day I shall be perfected.5048

33 Nevertheless4133 I3165 must1163 walk4198 today,4594 and2532 tomorrow,839 and2532 the3588 day following: 2192 for3754 it cannot be1735 3756 that a prophet4396 perish622 out1854 of Jerusalem.2419

34 O Jerusalem,2419 Jerusalem,2419 which killest615 the3588 prophets,4396 and2532 stonest3036 them that are sent649 unto4314 thee;846 how often4212 would2309 I have gathered thy children together,1996 4675 5043 as3739 5158 a hen3733 doth gather her1438 brood3555 under5259 her wings,4420 and2532 ye would2309 not!3756

35 Behold,2400 your5216 house3624 is left863 unto you5213 desolate: 2048 and1161 verily281 I say3004 unto you,5213 Ye shall not3364 see1492 me,3165 until2193 302 the time come2240 when3753 ye shall say,2036 Blessed2127 is he that cometh2064 in1722 the name3686 of the Lord.2962

1 AT that time, there came some men and told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

1 There1161 were present3918 at1722 that846 season2540 some5100 that told518 him846 of4012 the3588 Galilaeans,1057 whose3739 blood129 Pilate4091 had mingled3396 with3326 their846 sacrifices.2378

2 And Jesus answered and said to them, Do you think that those Galileans were greater sinners than all the Galileans, because this happened to them?

3 No; but I say to you, that all of you also, if you do not repent, you will perish in the same way.

3 I tell3004 you,5213 Nay: 3780 but,235 except1437 3361 ye repent,3340 ye shall all3956 likewise5615 perish.622

4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and it killed them; do you think that they were greater sinners than all the men who live in Jerusalem?

5 No, but I say to you, that unless you repent, all of you will perish like them.

5 I tell3004 you,5213 Nay: 3780 but,235 except1437 3361 ye repent,3340 ye shall all3956 likewise3668 perish.622

6 And he spoke this parable; A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit on it, and he did not find any.

7 So he said to the laborer, Behold, for three years, I have been coming and seeking fruit on this fig tree, and found none; cut it down; why should it waste the ground?

7 Then1161 said2036 he unto4314 the3588 dresser of his vineyard,289 Behold,2400 these three5140 years2094 I come2064 seeking2212 fruit2590 on1722 this5026 fig tree,4808 and2532 find2147 none: 3756 cut it down;1581 846 why2444 2532 encumbereth2673 it the3588 ground?1093

8 The laborer said to him, My lord, let it remain this year also, until I work it and fertilize it.

8 And1161 he3588 answering611 said3004 unto him,846 Lord,2962 let it alone863 846 this5124 year2094 also,2532 till2193 3755 I shall dig4626 about4012 it,846 and2532 dung906 2874 it:

9 It might bear fruit; and if not, then you can cut it down.

9 And if2579 it3303 bear4160 fruit,2590 well: and if not,1490 then after that1519 3195 thou shalt cut it down.1581 846

10 While Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath,

10 And1161 he was2258 teaching1321 in1722 one3391 of the3588 synagogues4864 on1722 the3588 sabbath.4521

11 There was there a woman who was afflicted with rheumatism for eighteen years; and was bent down and could never straighten herself at all.

12 Jesus saw her, and called her, and said to her, Woman, you are loosened from your sickness.

12 And1161 when Jesus2424 saw1492 her,846 he called4377 her to him, and2532 said2036 unto her,846 Woman,1135 thou art loosed630 from thine4675 infirmity.769

13 And he laid his hand on her, and immediately she straightened up, and praised God.

13 And2532 he laid2007 his hands5495 on her:846 and2532 immediately3916 she was made straight,461 and2532 glorified1392 God.2316

14 But the leader of the synagogue answered with anger, because Jesus healed on the sabbath; and he said to the people, There are six days in which men should work; in those days you ought to come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 Jesus answered and said to him, O hypocrites, does not each one of you loosen his ox or his ass, from the manger, and go with it to give it drink?

15 The3588 Lord2962 then3767 answered611 him,846 and2532 said,2036 Thou hypocrite,5273 doth not3756 each one1538 of you5216 on the3588 sabbath4521 loose3089 his848 ox1016 or2228 his ass3688 from575 the3588 stall,5336 and2532 lead him away520 to watering?4222

16 This one is a daughter of Abraham, and behold, the adversary has bound her for eighteen years; was it not necessary for her to be loosened from this bond on the sabbath day?

16 And1161 ought1163 not3756 this woman,5026 being5607 a daughter2364 of Abraham,11 whom3739 Satan4567 hath bound,1210 lo,2400 these eighteen1176 2532 3638 years,2094 be loosed3089 from575 this5127 bond1199 on the3588 sabbath4521 day?2250

17 And when he said these things, all who opposed him were ashamed; and all the people rejoiced over all the wonders which were done by his hand.

17 And2532 when he846 had said3004 these things,5023 all3956 his846 adversaries480 were ashamed:2617 and2532 all3956 the3588 people3793 rejoiced5463 for1909 all3956 the3588 glorious things1741 that were done1096 by5259 him.846

18 Jesus said, To what is the kingdom of God like? and to what shall I liken it?

18 Then1161 said3004 he, Unto what5101 is2076 the3588 kingdom932 of God2316 like?3664 and2532 whereunto5101 shall I resemble3666 it?846

19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his garden, and it grew and became a large tree, and the fowls of the sky settled on its branches.

20 Again Jesus said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God?

20 And2532 again3825 he said,2036 Whereunto5101 shall I liken3666 the3588 kingdom932 of God?2316

21 It is like the leaven which a woman took and buried in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.

21 It is2076 like3664 leaven,2219 which3739 a woman1135 took2983 and hid1470 in1519 three5140 measures4568 of meal,224 till2193 3757 the whole3650 was leavened.2220

22 And he journeyed through the villages and cities, teaching, and going to Jerusalem.

22 And2532 he went1279 through2596 the cities4172 and2532 villages,2968 teaching,1321 and2532 journeying4160 4197 toward1519 Jerusalem.2419

23 A man asked him, Are there only a few who are to be saved? Jesus said to them,

23 Then1161 said2036 one5100 unto him,846 Lord,2962 are1487 there few3641 that be saved?4982 And1161 he3588 said2036 unto4314 them,846

24 Strive to enter in through the narrow door; for I say to you, that many will seek to enter in, and will not be able.
