1 芬芳之品、不如令聞、初生之時、不如死日。

2 詣筵宴之家、不如入哭泣之室、在彼見人之終、生者當深思焉。

3 喜笑不如憂愁、色雖有憂、心則克正。

4 智者寕往哀戚之家、愚者喜詣宴樂之地。

5 寕聆哲士之箴規、莫聽愚人之倡和、

6 愚人之笑、如荊棘、爲爨火所焚、莫非捕風也、

7 非義之利、使智爲狂、惟行賄賂、壞人心術。

8 事之始不如事之終、驕泰不如恒忍。

9 毋急怒、毋蓄怨、斯愚人所爲。

10 勿是古非今、而尚論其事、此非智者所爲也。

11 有智有財、二者兼得、其益不淺。

12 智可庇身、財可助己、惟獲智慧、可享永生。

13 試思上帝經綸、彼使爲曲、誰能直之。

14 福來可喜、禍至可慮、上帝使二者迭相倚伏、俾忍不能逆料。

15 我處塵凡、鑒觀事理、見有爲義而早夭者、見有作惡而壽終者。

16 爾勿以爲義過乎主、智超乎主、而自取其戾。

17 爾勿以爲惡浮於人、愚勝於人、而自速其亡。

18 自義在所必戒、妄爲尤所當絕、惟上帝是畏、患難可避。

19 胸懷睿智之人、較邑中十長者、更有能焉。

20 普天之下、純善無纖惡者、未之有也。

21 言不聞、爾勿竊聽、恐有僕婢譭爾者。

22 蓋爾居恒、亦知嘗譭人。

23 我察萬事、欲求大道、而道離我甚遠。

24 道甚玄遠、誰能測度。

25 我盡心求道、欲知事理之所以、亦欲知愚昧之不善、

26 維彼淫婦、心若網羅、手若縲絏、較諸死亡愈苦、爲善者避其凶、作惡者遭其害。

27 傳道者曰、我察萬事、欲知其詳、而有所未逮、

28 簡俊士於千人之內、猶可或覯、求哲婦於萬姝之中、不能必得。

29 上帝造人、正直是務、惟人所爲、機巧百出、我深察其故矣。

3 Sorrow3708 is better2896 than laughter:4480 7814 for3588 by the sadness7455 of the countenance6440 the heart3820 is made better.3190

4 The heart3820 of the wise2450 is in the house1004 of mourning;60 but the heart3820 of fools3684 is in the house1004 of mirth.8057

5 It is better2896 to hear8085 the rebuke1606 of the wise,2450 than for a man4480 376 to hear8085 the song7892 of fools.3684
