Kapitel 3

1 Und es geschah das Wort1697 des HErrn3068 zum andernmal8145 zu Jona3124 und sprach559:

2 Mache dich auf6965, gehe3212 in die große1419 Stadt5892 Ninive5210 und predige ihr die Predigt7150, die ich7121 dir sage1696!

3 Da3117 machte sich Jona3124 auf6965 und ging hin3212 gen Ninive5210, wie der HErr3068 gesagt hatte1697. Ninive5210 aber war eine große1419 Stadt5892 Gottes430, drei7969 Tagereisen groß.

4 Und da Jona3124 anfing2490, hineinzugehen eine259 Tagereise in die Stadt5892, predigte7121 er und sprach559: Es sind935 noch3117 vierzig705 Tage3117, so wird Ninive5210 untergehen2015.

5 Da glaubten539 die Leute582 zu Ninive5210 an3847 GOtt430 und ließen predigen, man7121 sollte fasten6685, und zogen Säcke8242 an, beide, groß1419 und klein6996.

6 Und da das vor den König4428 zu Ninive5210 kam5060, stund er auf6965 von seinem Thron3678 und legte seinen Purpur155 ab und hüllete einen Sack8242 um1697 sich3680 und setzte sich3427 in5674 die Asche665.

7 Und4428 ließ ausschreien und sagen559 zu Ninive5210 aus Befehl des Königes und seiner Gewaltigen1419 also: Es soll weder Mensch120 noch Tier929, weder Ochsen1241 noch Schafe6629 etwas3972 kosten2940, und man559 soll sie2199 nicht weiden7462 noch Wasser4325 trinken8354 lassen;

8 und sollen Säcke8242 um7725 sich3680 hüllen beide, Menschen120 und Tier929, und zu GOtt430 rufen7121 heftig2394; und ein376 jeglicher bekehre sich von seinem bösen7451 Wege1870 und vom Frevel2555 seiner Hände3709!

9 Wer weiß3045, GOtt430 möchte sich7725 kehren und ihn reuen5162 und sich7725 wenden von seinem grimmigen2740 Zorn639, daß wir nicht6 verderben.

10 Da aber GOtt430 sah7200 ihre1696 Werke, daß sie sich7725 bekehreten von ihrem bösen7451 Wege1870, reuete ihn des Übels, das4639 er geredet hatte5162, ihnen zu tun6213, und430 tat‘s6213 nicht7451.

3 So Jonah3124 arose,6965 and went3212 to Nineveh,5210 according to the word1697 of the LORD.3068 Now Nineveh5210 was an exceeding430 great1419 city5892 of three7969 days'3117 journey.4109

4 And Jonah3124 began2490 to enter935 into the city5892 a day's3117 journey,4109 and he cried,7121 and said,559 Yet5750 forty705 days,3117 and Nineveh5210 shall be overthrown.2015

6 For word1697 came5060 to the king4428 of Nineveh,5210 and he arose6965 from his throne,3678 and he laid5674 his robe155 from him, and covered3680 him with sackcloth,8242 and sat3427 in ashes.665

7 And he caused it to be proclaimed2199 and published559 through Nineveh5210 by the decree2940 of the king4428 and his nobles,1419 saying,559 Let neither369 man120 nor beast,929 herd1241 nor flock,6629 taste2938 any3972 thing: let them not feed,7462 nor408 drink8354 water:4325

8 But let man120 and beast929 be covered3680 with sackcloth,8242 and cry7121 mightily2393 to God:430 yes, let them turn7725 every376 one376 from his evil7451 way,1870 and from the violence2555 that is in their hands.3709

9 Who4310 can tell3045 if God430 will turn7725 and repent,5162 and turn7725 away from his fierce2740 anger,639 that we perish6 not?

10 And God430 saw7200 their works,4639 that they turned7725 from their evil7451 way;1870 and God430 repented5162 of the evil,7451 that he had said1696 that he would do6213 to them; and he did6213 it not.
