Chapter 2

1 And the third5154 day2250 there was a marriage1062 in Cana2580 of Galilee;1056 and the mother3384 of Jesus2424 was there:1563

2 And both2532 Jesus2424 was called,2564 and his disciples,3101 to the marriage.1062

3 And when they wanted5302 wine,3631 the mother3384 of Jesus2424 said3004 to him, They have2192 no3756 wine.3631

4 Jesus2424 said3004 to her, Woman,1135 what5101 have I to do with you? my3450 hour5610 is not yet3768 come.2240

5 His mother3384 said3004 to the servants,1249 Whatever3748 302 he said3004 to you, do4160 it.

6 And there were set2749 there1563 six1803 water pots5201 of stone,3035 after2596 the manner of the purifying2512 of the Jews,2453 containing5562 two1417 or2228 three5140 firkins3355 apiece.303

7 Jesus2424 said3004 to them, Fill1072 the water pots5201 with water.5204 And they filled1072 them up to the brim.507

8 And he said3004 to them, Draw501 out now,3568 and bear5342 to the governor755 of the feast.755 And they bore5342 it.

9 When5613 the ruler755 of the feast755 had tasted1089 the water5204 that was made1096 wine,3631 and knew1492 not from where4159 it was: (but the servants1249 which3588 drew501 the water5204 knew;1492) the governor755 of the feast755 called5455 the bridegroom,3566

10 And said3004 to him, Every3956 man444 at4412 the beginning4412 does set5087 forth5087 good2570 wine;3631 and when3752 men have well3184 drunk,3184 then5119 that which is worse:1640 but you have kept5083 the good2570 wine3631 until2193 now.737

11 This5026 beginning746 of miracles4592 did4160 Jesus2424 in Cana2580 of Galilee,1056 and manifested5319 forth5319 his glory;1391 and his disciples3101 believed4100 on1519 him.

12 After3326 this5124 he went2597 down2597 to Capernaum,2584 he, and his mother,3384 and his brothers,80 and his disciples:3101 and they continued3306 there1563 not many4183 days.2250

13 And the Jews'2453 passover3957 was at1451 hand,1451 and Jesus2424 went305 up to Jerusalem.2414

14 And found2147 in the temple2411 those3588 that sold4453 oxen1016 and sheep4263 and doves, and the changers2773 of money2773 sitting:2521

15 And when he had made4160 a whip5416 of small4979 cords,4979 he drove1544 them all3956 out of the temple,2411 and the sheep,4263 and the oxen;1016 and poured1632 out the changers'2855 money,2772 and overthrew390 the tables;5132

16 And said2036 to them that sold4453 doves,4058 Take142 these5023 things hence;1782 make4160 not my Father's3962 house3624 an house3624 of merchandise.1712

17 And his disciples3101 remembered3415 that it was written,1125 The zeal2205 of your4675 house3624 has eaten2719 me up.

18 Then3767 answered611 the Jews2453 and said2036 to him, What5101 sign4592 show1166 you to us, seeing that you do4160 these5023 things?

19 Jesus2424 answered611 and said2036 to them, Destroy3089 this5126 temple,3485 and in three5140 days2250 I will raise1453 it up.

20 Then3767 said2036 the Jews,2453 Forty5062 and six1803 years2094 was this3778 temple3485 in building,3618 and will you raise1453 it up in three5140 days?2250

21 But he spoke3004 of the temple3485 of his body.4983

22 When3753 therefore3767 he was risen1453 from the dead,3498 his disciples3101 remembered3415 that he had said3004 this5124 to them; and they believed4100 the scripture,1124 and the word3056 which3739 Jesus2424 had said.2036

23 Now1161 when5613 he was in Jerusalem2414 at1722 the passover,3957 in the feast1859 day, many4183 believed4100 in his name,3686 when they saw2334 the miracles4592 which3739 he did.4160

24 But Jesus2424 did not commit4100 himself1438 to them, because1223 he knew1097 all3956 men,

25 And needed2192 5532 not that any5100 should testify3140 of man:444 for he knew1097 what5101 was in man.444

Chapter 2

1 ON the third day there was a marriage feast in Cana, a city of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there.

2 And Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the marriage feast.

3 And when the wine decreased, his mother said to Jesus, They have no wine.

4 Jesus said to her, What is it to me and to you, woman? my turn has not yet come.

5 His mother said to the helpers, Whatever he tells you, do it.

6 And there were six stone jars placed there for the purification of the Jews, which could hold several gallons each.

7 Jesus said to them, Fill the jars with water; and they filled them up to the brim.

8 Then he said to them, Draw out now, and bring it to the chief guest of the feast. And they brought it.

9 And when the chief guest tasted the water that had become wine, he did not know whence it had come; but the helpers knew, who had drawn the water. Then the chief guest called the bridegroom

10 And said to him, Every man at first brings the best wine; and when they have drunk, then that which is weak; but you have kept the best wine until now.

11 This is the first miracle which Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and he showed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brothers, and his disciples; and they remained there a few days.

13 And the Jewish passover was nearing; so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14 And he found in the temple those who were buying oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting.

15 And he made a whip of cord, and drove them all out of the temple, even the sheep and the oxen and the money changers; and he threw out their exchange money, and upset their trays;

16 And to those who sold doves he said, Take these away from here; do not make my Father's house a house of trading.

17 And his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal for your house has given me courage.

18 The Jews answered and said to him, What sign do you show us, that you are doing these things?

19 Jesus answered and said to them, Tear down this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 The Jews said to him, It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?

21 But he spoke concerning the temple of his body.

22 When he rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scriptures and the word which Jesus had said.

23 Now when Jesus was in Jerusalem at the passover, during the feast, a great many believed in him, because they saw the miracles which he did.

24 But Jesus did not entrust himself to them, because he understood every man.

25 And he needed no man to testify to him concerning any man; for he knew well what was in man.
