5 Which removes6275 the mountains,2022 and they know3045 not: which834 overturns2015 them in his anger.639

6 Which shakes7264 the earth776 out of her place,4725 and the pillars5982 thereof tremble.6426

19 If518 I speak of strength,3581 see,2009 he is strong:533 and if518 of judgment,4941 who4310 shall set3259 me a time to plead?

20 If518 I justify6663 myself, my own mouth6310 shall condemn7561 me: if I say, I am perfect,8535 it shall also prove me perverse.6140

21 Though I were perfect,8535 yet would I not know3045 my soul:5315 I would despise3988 my life.2416

23 If518 the whip7752 slay4191 suddenly,6597 he will laugh3932 at the trial4531 of the innocent.5355

24 The earth776 is given5414 into the hand3027 of the wicked:7563 he covers4374 the faces6440 of the judges8199 thereof; if518 not, where,645 and who4310 is he?

26 They are passed2498 away as the swift16 ships:591 as the eagle5404 that hastens2907 to the prey.400

3 Если б и вздумал кто вступить с Ним в тяжбу, ни на один Его вопрос не ответит из тысячи.

4 В сердце Его — мудрость, сила Его безгранична, кто может противиться Ему и остаться целым?

5 Ему, Который в один миг сдвигает горы и переворачивает их во гневе?

6 Он сотрясает землю — сходит она с места своего, и устои ее колеблются.

7 Приказывает Он солнцу — и оно не светит, и звезды на небе запечатывает.

8 Он один распростер небо и по хребту морскому ступает.

9 Большую Медведицу, и Орион, и Плеяды, и Южные покои Он создал.

10 Велики деяния Его и непостижимы, чудеса — бессчетны!

11 Даже если пройдет Он передо мной — я не увижу Его, если пронесется мимо — Его не узнаю!

12 Если пожелает Он схватить — кто помешает Ему? Кто спросит Его: „Что Ты делаешь?“

13 Он — Бог, и гнева Своего не удерживает, и помощники Рахава перед Ним склоняются.

14 Как же могу я держать перед Ним ответ? Какие слова отыщу, чтобы возразить Ему?

15 Даже если и праведен я, не сыскать мне ответа, я должен лишь молить Судью о пощаде.

16 Даже если б и воззвал я к Нему и Он ответил, не поверю, чтобы прислушался Он ко мне!

17 Он бурей может сокрушить меня и приумножить раны мои беспричинно.

18 Он не дает мне дух перевести, горестями насытил.

19 Как мне тягаться с Ним? Могуч Он! Если судиться, то кто приведет Его на суд?

20 Если и праведен я, мои уста меня и опорочат, если невинен — Он меня осудит, обвинит.

21 Невинен я, но о себе я не забочусь, опротивела мне жизнь моя!

22 Всё едино, и потому я говорю: „Он губит и злодея, и невинного“.

23 И когда смерть внезапную приносит бич, Он потешается над отчаянием непорочных.

24 Во власть нечестивцев отдана земля, Он закрывает глаза ее судьям! Если не Он, то кто же?!

25 Дни мои скоротечны, быстрее гонца бегут; проходят они, так и не увидев доброго,

26 уплывают, словно тростниковые лодки, несутся, словно орел за добычей.

27 Если б мог я сказать: „Жалобы мои забуду, печаль оставлю, буду весел!“

28 Страдания мои ужас на меня наводят, знаю, Ты не оставишь меня без наказания!

29 Я буду осужден! К чему мне трудиться понапрасну?

30 Если б и мылом я омылся, щелоком руки очистил —

31 и тогда бы Ты поверг меня в грязь, и моя одежда бы мной возгнушалась.

32 Ведь не человек Он, как я, Которому я мог бы сказать: „Пойдем со мною на суд!“

33 О если б был между нами посредник, который возложил бы руку на нас обоих!

34 Если бы отвел Он от меня Свой жезл, чтобы не страшил меня более Его ужас.

35 И тогда бы я говорил, и не испытывал страха, ведь не таков я!
