箴言

第28章

1 惡人雖無人追趕也逃跑；義人卻膽壯像獅子。

2 邦國因有罪過，君王就多更換；唯［but］因有聰明知識的人，國必長存。

3 窮人欺壓貧民，好像暴雨沖沒糧食。

4 違棄律法的，誇獎惡人；遵守律法的，卻與惡人相爭。

5 壞人不明白公義；唯有尋求耶和華的明白一切［understand all things］。

6 行為正直［uprightness］的窮乏人勝過行事乖僻的富足人。

7 謹守律法的，是智慧之子；與放縱之人［riotous men］作伴的，卻羞辱其父。

8 人以放債與不義之財［usury and unjust gain］加增財物，是給那憐憫窮人者積蓄的。

9 轉耳不聽律法的，他的祈禱也為可憎。

10 誘惑義人［righteous］行惡道的，必掉在自己的坑裏；唯正直人必得美物為業［but the upright shall have good things in prossession］。

11 富足人自以為有智慧，但聰明的貧窮人能將他查透。

12 義人歡喜［rejoice］，有大榮耀；惡人興起，人卻［but］躲藏。

13 遮掩自己罪過的，必不亨通；承認離棄罪過的，必蒙憐恤。

14 常存敬畏的，便為有福；唯［but］心存剛硬的，必陷在禍患裏。

15 惡人掌權［wicked ruler］轄制貧民，好像吼叫的獅子、覓食的熊。

16 無知的君多行暴虐；以貪財為可恨的，卻［but］必年長日久。

17 行強暴［doeth violence］流人血之罪的，必往坑裏逃跑［flee］，誰也不可攔阻他。

18 行動正直的，必蒙拯救；行事彎曲的，卻［but］立時跌倒。

19 耕種自己地［land］的，必得飽食；追隨虛浮人［persons］的，卻［but］足受窮乏。

20 忠信［faithful］人必多得福；想要急速發財的，卻［but］不免受罰。

21 看人的情面乃為不好；人因一塊餅枉法也為不好。

22 人有惡眼想要急速發財，卻不知窮乏必臨到他身。

23 責備人的，後來蒙人喜悅，多於那用舌頭奉承人的［flattereth］。

24 偷竊父母的，說：這不是罪；此人就是與行毀壞的［destroyer］同類。

25 心中驕傲［proud］的，挑起爭端；倚靠耶和華的，卻［but］必［shall］豐裕。

26 心中自是的，便是愚昧人；唯有［but］憑智慧行事的，必蒙拯救。

27 賙濟貧窮的，不致缺乏；佯為不見的，卻［but］必多受咒詛。

28 惡人興起，人就躲藏；但［but］惡人敗亡，義人增多。

Proverbs

Chapter 28

1 THE wicked flee when no man pursues them; but the righteous are confident as a lion.

2 Because of the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; but by righteous men who know justice the stability thereof shall be prolonged.

3 A poor man who oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which is of no benefit.

4 Those who forsake the law glory in wickedness; but those who keep the law receive strength.

5 Evil men do not understand justice; but those who seek the LORD understand all good things.

6 Better is the poor man walking in his uprightness than a rich man whose ways are perverse.

7 He who keeps the law is a wise son; but he who is engaged in vanity shames his father.

8 He who increases his wealth by usury and unjust means shall leave it for him who is kind to the poor.

9 He who closes his ears from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

10 He who causes the righteous to go astray in an evil path shall fall himself into the pit; but the upright shall inherit good things.

11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but a poor man of understanding will reprove him.

12 When righteous men are strong, there is a great glory; but when the wicked rise to power, the glory diminishes.

13 He who hides his transgression shall not prosper; but he who confesses his sins and forsakes them, God will have mercy upon him.

14 Blessed is the man who is reverent always; but he who hardens his heart shall fall into mischief.

15 As a roaring lion and a raging bear, so is a wicked ruler over the poor.

16 A ruler who lacks understanding is also a great oppressor; but he who hates deceit shall prolong his life.

17 A man who is engaged in shedding of blood shall flee even to the jailer, and no one shall help him.

18 He who walks uprightly shall be saved; but he who is perverse in his ways shall fall into a pit.

19 He who tills the land shall have abundance of bread; but he who follows after vain pursuits shall have plenty of poverty.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings; but an evil man shall not be innocent.

21 A man who shows partiality is not good; for a piece of bread a man will become a traitor.

22 He who hastens to be rich has an evil eye and considers not that poverty shall come upon him.

23 He who rebukes a man shall find more favor afterwards than he who flatters with his tongue.

24 He who robs his father or his mother and says, It is no transgression, the same is the companion of a wicked man.

25 A greedy man stirs up strife; but he who puts his trust in the LORD shall be enriched.

26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool; but he who walks with integrity will be delivered.

27 He who gives to the poor shall not lack; but he who turns his eyes away from the needy shall have many a curse.

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase.

5 Evil men do not understand justice; but those who seek the LORD understand all good things.

6 Better is the poor man walking in his uprightness than a rich man whose ways are perverse.

7 He who keeps the law is a wise son; but he who is engaged in vanity shames his father.

8 人以放債與不義之財［usury and unjust gain］加增財物，是給那憐憫窮人者積蓄的。

8 He who increases his wealth by usury and unjust means shall leave it for him who is kind to the poor.

9 He who closes his ears from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
