Chapter 10

1 THERE was in Cµs-a-re'a a man called Cornelius, a centurion of the regiment which is called the Italian,

2 A righteous and God-fearing man as were all his household; which gave much alms to the people, and always sought after God.

3 Very openly in a vision about three o'clock in the afternoon he saw an angel of God who came in to him, and said to him, Cornelius.

4 And he looked at the angel and was afraid, and he said, What is it, my LORD? And the angel said to him, Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to the city of Joppa, and bring here Simon who is called Peter:

6 Behold he is staying with Simon Bur-saya, the tanner, whose house is by the seaside.

7 And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household, and a soldier who believed in God and was obedient to him;

8 And he related to them everything that he had seen, and sent them to Joppa.

9 The next day, while they were on their journey, drawing near to the city, Simon Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about noontime.

10 And he became hungry, and wanted to eat: but while they were preparing food for him, he was seized with a sudden faintness.

11 And he saw the sky open and something fastened at the four corners, resembling a large linen cloth, was let down from heaven to the earth:

12 And there were in it all kind of fourfooted beasts, and creeping things of the earth, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, saying, Simon Peter, rise; kill and eat.

14 But Simon Peter said, Far be it, my LORD; for I have never eaten anything which was unclean and defiled.

15 And again the voice came to him a second time, What God has cleansed, you should not call unclean.

16 This happened the third time: then the cloth was lifted up to the heaven.

17 Now while Simon Peter was bewildered, wondering in himself what the vision he had seen should mean, the men who were sent by Cornelius arrived, and enquired for the house in which Simon Peter had been staying, and they came and stood at the door of the courtyard.

18 And from there they called and asked if Simon who is called Peter stayed there.

19 While Simon Peter meditated about the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold three men seek you.

20 Arise, go down, and go with them, without doubt in your mind: for I have sent them.

21 Then Simon Peter went down to the men and said, I am the man you seek. What is the purpose of your mission?

22 They said to him, A man called Cornelius, a righteous and God-fearing centurion of whom all the Jewish people speak well, was told in a vision by a holy angel to send and bring you to his house and to hear words from you.

23 So Simon Peter brought them into the place where he was staying and welcomed them. The next day he arose and went with them, and a few men from amongst the brethren of Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the next day they entered Cµs-are'a. And Cornelius was waiting for them, and all his relatives and also his dear friends were assembled with him.

25 And just as Simon Peter was entering, Cornelius met him and threw himself at his feet and worshipped him.

26 But Simon Peter raised him, saying, Stand up; I am but a man also.

27 And after he had talked with him, he went in and found a great many people had come there.

28 So he said to them, You know well that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with a stranger who is not of his tribe; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 This is why I came at once when you sent for me: but now let me ask you, for what reason have you sent for me?

30 Then Cornelius said to him, Four days I have been fasting; and at three o'clock in the afternoon while I was praying in my house, a man dressed in white garments stood before me.

31 And said to me, Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are a memorial before God.

32 But send to the city of Joppa and bring Simon, who is called Peter; behold he is staying in the house of Simon Bur-sa'ya, the tanner, by the seaside: and he will come and talk with you.

33 At that very time I sent for you, and you have done well to come. Behold we are all here present before you, and we wish to hear everything commanded thee from God.

34 Then Simon Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But among all people, he who fears him and works righteousness is accepted with him.

36 For God sent the word to the children of Israel, preaching peace and tranquility by Jesus Christ: he is the LORD of all.

37 And you also are familiar with the news which was published throughout Judµa, which sprang from Galilee, after the baptism preached by John;

38 Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, whom God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, and who, because God was with him, went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did throughout the land of Judµa and in Jerusalem. This very one the Jews crucified on a cross and killed him:

40 Him God raised on the third day, and showed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but to us who have been chosen by God to be his witnesses, for we did eat and drink with him after his resurrection from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify, that it is he who was ordained by God to be the judge of the living and of the dead.

43 To him, all the prophets testified that whosoever believes in his name shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Simon Peter spoke these words, the Holy Spirit descended on all who heard the word.

45 And the Jewish converts who had come with him were seized with amazement because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Gentiles also;

46 For they heard them speak with divers tongues, and magnify God.

47 Then Simon Peter said to them, Can any man forbid water, that these people who have received the Holy Spirit, just as we have, should not be baptized?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ. And they urged him to remain with them a few days.

5 Und2532 nun3568 sende Männer435 gen1519 Joppe2445 und2532 laß3992 fordern3343 Simon4613 mit dem3739 Zunamen1941 Petrus4074,

7 Und1161 da5613 der Engel32, der mit Cornelius redete2980, hinweggegangen war565, rief5455 er846 zwei1417 seiner Hausknechte3610 und2532 einen gottesfürchtigen2152 Kriegsknecht4757 von denen, die3588 auf ihn warteten,

8 und2532 erzählete es ihnen846 alles537 und sandte649 sie846 gen1519 Joppe2445.

9 Des andern Tages1887, da2532 diese1565 auf305 dem Wege waren3596 und1161 nahe zur Stadt4172 kamen1448, stieg Petrus4074 hinauf auf den Söller1430, zu beten4336, um4012 die sechste1623 Stunde5610.

10 Und2532 als er846 hungrig4361 ward1096, wollte2309 er essen1089. Da1909 sie1161 ihm1565 aber1161 zubereiteten3903, ward1968 er entzückt

11 und2532 sah2334 den Himmel3772 aufgetan und2532 herniederfahren2597 zu1909 ihm846 ein5100 Gefäß4632 wie5613 ein groß3173 leinen Tuch3607, an1909 vier5064 Zipfeln746 gebunden1210, und ward niedergelassen2524 auf455 die Erde1093.

12 Darinnen waren5225 allerlei3956 vierfüßige Tiere5074 der3739 Erde1093 und2532 wilde Tiere2342 und2532 Gewürm2062 und2532 Vögel4071 des Himmels3772.

13 Und2532 geschah1096 eine Stimme5456 zu4314 ihm846: Stehe auf450, Petrus4074, schlachte2380 und25325315!

14 Petrus4074 aber1161 sprach2036: O nein3365, HErr2962; denn3754 ich habe5315 noch nie3763 etwas3956 Gemeines2839 oder2228 Unreines169 gegessen5315.

15 Und2532 die Stimme5456 sprach zum1537 andernmal1208 zu4314 ihm846: Was GOtt2316 gereiniget hat2511, das3739 mache2840 du4771 nicht3361 gemein.

16 Und1161 das5124 geschah zu1519 drei Malen; und2532 das Gefäß4632 ward1096 wieder3825 aufgenommen353 gen Himmel3772.

17 Als aber1161 Petrus4074 sich in1722 sich selbst1438 bekümmerte1280, was5101 das3739 Gesicht3705 wäre, das1498 er gesehen1492 hatte, siehe2400, da5613 fragten1331 die Männer435, von575 Cornelius gesandt649, nach dem3588 Hause3614 Simons4613 und2532 stunden an1909 der Tür4440,

18 riefen5455 und2532 forscheten, ob1487 Simon4613 mit dem3588 Zunamen1941 Petrus4074 allda1759 zur Herberge wäre3579.

19 Indem aber1161 Petrus4074 sich besinnet über4012 dem Gesichte, sprach2036 der Geist4151 zu ihm846: Siehe2400, drei5140 Männer435 suchen2212 dich4571.

20 Aber4198 stehe auf450, steige2597 hinab und235 zieh mit4862 ihnen846 und2532 zweifle1252 nichts3367; denn1360 ich1473 habe sie846 gesandt649.

21 Da stieg Petrus4074 hinab zu4314 den5101 Männern435, die3739 von575 Cornelius zu4314 ihm gesandt649 waren3918, und1161 sprach2036: Siehe2400, ich1473 bin‘s1510, den ihr846 suchet2212; was3588 ist2597 die3739 Sache156, darum ihr hier seid?

22 Sie aber1161 sprachen2036: Cornelius, der5259 Hauptmann1543, ein frommer1342 und2532 gottesfürchtiger Mann435 und5037 gutes Gerüchts3140 bei dem ganzen3650 Volk1484 der5259 Juden2453, hat einen Befehl empfangen5537 vom heiligen40 Engel32, daß er5399 dich4571 sollte fordern lassen3343 in1519 sein Haus3624 und2532 Worte4487 von3844 dir4675 hören191.

23 Da3767 rief1528 er846 sie3579 hinein und1161 herbergete sie846. Des846 andern Tages1887 zog Petrus4074 aus1831 mit4862 ihnen, und2532 etliche5100 Brüder80 von575 Joppe2445 gingen mit4905 ihm.

24 Und2532 des andern Tages1887 kamen1525 sie gen Cäsarea2542. Cornelius aber1161 wartete4328 auf1519 sie und2532 rief zusammen4779 seine Verwandten4773 und Freunde316.

25 Und1161 als5613 Petrus4074 hineinkam1096, ging1525 ihm Cornelius entgegen und fiel4098 zu seinen846 Füßen4228 und betete4352 ihn an1909.

26 Petrus4074 aber1161 richtete450 ihn846 auf1453 und2504 sprach3004: Stehe auf1453; ich846 bin1510 auch2504 ein Mensch444.

27 Und2532 als er846 sich mit ihm besprochen hatte4926, ging er hinein1525 und2532 fand2147 ihrer viel4183, die zusammenkommen4905 waren.

28 Und5037 er sprach5346 zu4314 ihnen: Ihr846 wisset1987, wie5613 es ein ungewohnet Ding111 ist2076 einem jüdischen2453 Mann435, sich zu2853 tun oder2228 zu kommen4334 zu einem Fremdling246; aber2532 GOtt2316 hat1166 mir1698 gezeiget, keinen3367 Menschen444 gemein2839 oder2228 unrein169 zu heißen3004.

29 Darum habe ich mich3165 nicht geweigert369 zu kommen2064, als ich bin hergefordert3343. So2532 frage4441 ich euch nun3767, warum5101 ihr3056 mich habt lassen fordern.

30 Cornelius sprach5346: Ich1799 habe2252 vier5067 Tage2250 gefastet3522 bis3360 an diese Stunde5610, und2532 um die5026 neunte1766 Stunde5610 betete4336 ich in1722 meinem3450 Hause3624. Und siehe2400, da trat2476 ein Mann435 vor575 mich3450 in einem hellen2986 Kleide2066

31 und2532 sprach5346: Cornelius, dein4675 Gebet4335 ist erhöret, und2532 deiner4675 Almosen1654 ist gedacht3415 worden vor1799 GOtt2316.

32 So sende nun3767 gen Joppe2445 und2532 laß3992 herrufen3333 einen Simon4613 mit1722 dem3739 Zunamen1941 Petrus4074, welcher3739 ist3854 zur Herberge3579 in1519 dem Hause3614 des Gerbers1038 Simon4613 an3844 dem Meer2281; der wird dir4671, wenn er3778 kommt, sagen2980.

33 Da3918 sandte3992 ich von5259 Stund‘ an1824 zu4314 dir4571. Und5037 du4771 hast wohl2573 getan4160, daß du3767 kommen bist. Nun3767 sind wir2249 alle3956 hier3568 gegenwärtig3918 vor1799 GOtt2316, zu hören191 alles3956, was dir4671 von GOtt2316 befohlen ist3854.

34 Petrus4074 aber1161 tat seinen Mund4750 auf455 und sprach2036: Nun erfahre ich mit1909 der2076 Wahrheit225, daß3754 GOtt2316 die Person4381 nicht3756 ansiehet,

35 sondern235 in1722 allerlei3956 Volk1484, wer ihn846 fürchtet5399 und2532 recht1343 tut2038, der ist2076 ihm846 angenehm1184.

36 Ihr wisset wohl von der3056 Predigt, die3778 GOtt zu den Kindern Israel2474 gesandt hat649, und verkündigen lassen2097 den Frieden1515 durch1223 JEsum2424 Christum5547 ( welcher3739 ist2076 ein HErr2962 über alles3956),

37 die3739 durchs ganze3650 jüdische Land2449 geschehen1096 ist und3326 angefangen756 in575 Galiläa1056 nach2596 der Taufe908, die Johannes2491 predigte2784:

38 wie5613 GOtt2316 denselbigen JEsum von575 Nazareth3478 gesalbet hat5548 mit3326 dem Heiligen40 Geiste4151 und2532 Kraft1411; der5259 umhergezogen ist1330 und2532 hat wohlgetan2109 und gesund2390 gemacht alle3956, die3739 vom Teufel1228 überwältiget waren2616; denn3754 GOtt2316 war2258 mit ihm2424.

39 Und2532 wir2249 sind2070 Zeugen3144 alles3956 des, was3739 er getan4160 hat im1722 jüdischen2453 Lande5561 und5037 zu1722 Jerusalem2419. Den3739 haben sie getötet337 und2532 an1909 ein Holz3586 gehänget.

40 Denselbigen hat1453 GOtt2316 auferwecket am dritten5154 Tage2250 und2532 ihn846 lassen offenbar werden1096,

41 nicht3756 allem3956 Volk2992, sondern235 uns2254, den vorerwählten4401 Zeugen3144 von5259 GOtt2316, die3748 wir mit4906 ihm846 gegessen und2532 getrunken haben, nachdem3326 er846 auferstanden ist450 von1537 den Toten3498.

42 Und2532 er846 hat uns2254 geboten3853, zu predigen2784 dem3588 Volk2992 und2532 zu zeugen1263, daß3754 er ist2076 verordnet3724 von GOtt2316 ein Richter2923 der5259 Lebendigen2198 und2532 der Toten3498.

43 Von diesem5129 zeugen3140 alle3956 Propheten4396, daß durch1223 seinen846 Namen3686 alle3956, die an1519 ihn846 glauben4100, Vergebung859 der Sünden266 empfangen2983 sollen.

44 Da Petrus4074 noch2089 diese5023 Worte3056 redete2980, fiel1968 der Heilige40 Geist4151 auf1909 alle3956, die191 dem Wort4487 zuhöreten.

45 Und2532 die3745 Gläubigen4103 aus1537 der Beschneidung4061, die mit4905 Petrus4074 kommen waren, entsetzten1839 sich, daß3754 auch2532 auf1909 die Heiden1484 die Gabe1431 des Heiligen40 Geistes4151 ausgegossen ward1632.

46 Denn1063 sie846 höreten, daß sie mit Zungen1100 redeten2980 und2532 GOtt2316 hoch preiseten. Da5119 antwortete611 Petrus4074:

47 Mag auch2532 jemand5100 das Wasser5204 wehren2967, daß3361 diese5128 nicht1410 getaufet werden907, die3748 den Heiligen40 Geist4151 empfangen2983 haben gleichwie2531 auch wir2249?

48 Und5037 befahl4367, sie zu taufen907 in1722 dem Namen3686 des846 HErrn2962. Da5119 baten2065 sie ihn, daß er846 etliche5100 Tage2250 dabliebe1961.

5 And now send men to the city of Joppa, and bring here Simon who is called Peter:

5 Und2532 nun3568 sende Männer435 gen1519 Joppe2445 und2532 laß3992 fordern3343 Simon4613 mit dem3739 Zunamen1941 Petrus4074,

7 And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household, and a soldier who believed in God and was obedient to him;

7 Und1161 da5613 der Engel32, der mit Cornelius redete2980, hinweggegangen war565, rief5455 er846 zwei1417 seiner Hausknechte3610 und2532 einen gottesfürchtigen2152 Kriegsknecht4757 von denen, die3588 auf ihn warteten,

8 And he related to them everything that he had seen, and sent them to Joppa.

8 und2532 erzählete es ihnen846 alles537 und sandte649 sie846 gen1519 Joppe2445.

9 The next day, while they were on their journey, drawing near to the city, Simon Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about noontime.

9 Des andern Tages1887, da2532 diese1565 auf305 dem Wege waren3596 und1161 nahe zur Stadt4172 kamen1448, stieg Petrus4074 hinauf auf den Söller1430, zu beten4336, um4012 die sechste1623 Stunde5610.

11 And he saw the sky open and something fastened at the four corners, resembling a large linen cloth, was let down from heaven to the earth:

11 und2532 sah2334 den Himmel3772 aufgetan und2532 herniederfahren2597 zu1909 ihm846 ein5100 Gefäß4632 wie5613 ein groß3173 leinen Tuch3607, an1909 vier5064 Zipfeln746 gebunden1210, und ward niedergelassen2524 auf455 die Erde1093.

12 And there were in it all kind of fourfooted beasts, and creeping things of the earth, and fowls of the air.

12 Darinnen waren5225 allerlei3956 vierfüßige Tiere5074 der3739 Erde1093 und2532 wilde Tiere2342 und2532 Gewürm2062 und2532 Vögel4071 des Himmels3772.

13 And there came a voice to him, saying, Simon Peter, rise; kill and eat.

13 Und2532 geschah1096 eine Stimme5456 zu4314 ihm846: Stehe auf450, Petrus4074, schlachte2380 und25325315!

15 And again the voice came to him a second time, What God has cleansed, you should not call unclean.

15 Und2532 die Stimme5456 sprach zum1537 andernmal1208 zu4314 ihm846: Was GOtt2316 gereiniget hat2511, das3739 mache2840 du4771 nicht3361 gemein.

16 This happened the third time: then the cloth was lifted up to the heaven.

16 Und1161 das5124 geschah zu1519 drei Malen; und2532 das Gefäß4632 ward1096 wieder3825 aufgenommen353 gen Himmel3772.

17 Now while Simon Peter was bewildered, wondering in himself what the vision he had seen should mean, the men who were sent by Cornelius arrived, and enquired for the house in which Simon Peter had been staying, and they came and stood at the door of the courtyard.

17 Als aber1161 Petrus4074 sich in1722 sich selbst1438 bekümmerte1280, was5101 das3739 Gesicht3705 wäre, das1498 er gesehen1492 hatte, siehe2400, da5613 fragten1331 die Männer435, von575 Cornelius gesandt649, nach dem3588 Hause3614 Simons4613 und2532 stunden an1909 der Tür4440,

18 riefen5455 und2532 forscheten, ob1487 Simon4613 mit dem3588 Zunamen1941 Petrus4074 allda1759 zur Herberge wäre3579.

19 While Simon Peter meditated about the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold three men seek you.

19 Indem aber1161 Petrus4074 sich besinnet über4012 dem Gesichte, sprach2036 der Geist4151 zu ihm846: Siehe2400, drei5140 Männer435 suchen2212 dich4571.

20 Arise, go down, and go with them, without doubt in your mind: for I have sent them.

20 Aber4198 stehe auf450, steige2597 hinab und235 zieh mit4862 ihnen846 und2532 zweifle1252 nichts3367; denn1360 ich1473 habe sie846 gesandt649.

21 Then Simon Peter went down to the men and said, I am the man you seek. What is the purpose of your mission?

21 Da stieg Petrus4074 hinab zu4314 den5101 Männern435, die3739 von575 Cornelius zu4314 ihm gesandt649 waren3918, und1161 sprach2036: Siehe2400, ich1473 bin‘s1510, den ihr846 suchet2212; was3588 ist2597 die3739 Sache156, darum ihr hier seid?

22 They said to him, A man called Cornelius, a righteous and God-fearing centurion of whom all the Jewish people speak well, was told in a vision by a holy angel to send and bring you to his house and to hear words from you.

22 Sie aber1161 sprachen2036: Cornelius, der5259 Hauptmann1543, ein frommer1342 und2532 gottesfürchtiger Mann435 und5037 gutes Gerüchts3140 bei dem ganzen3650 Volk1484 der5259 Juden2453, hat einen Befehl empfangen5537 vom heiligen40 Engel32, daß er5399 dich4571 sollte fordern lassen3343 in1519 sein Haus3624 und2532 Worte4487 von3844 dir4675 hören191.

23 So Simon Peter brought them into the place where he was staying and welcomed them. The next day he arose and went with them, and a few men from amongst the brethren of Joppa accompanied him.

23 Da3767 rief1528 er846 sie3579 hinein und1161 herbergete sie846. Des846 andern Tages1887 zog Petrus4074 aus1831 mit4862 ihnen, und2532 etliche5100 Brüder80 von575 Joppe2445 gingen mit4905 ihm.

24 And the next day they entered Cµs-are'a. And Cornelius was waiting for them, and all his relatives and also his dear friends were assembled with him.

24 Und2532 des andern Tages1887 kamen1525 sie gen Cäsarea2542. Cornelius aber1161 wartete4328 auf1519 sie und2532 rief zusammen4779 seine Verwandten4773 und Freunde316.

25 And just as Simon Peter was entering, Cornelius met him and threw himself at his feet and worshipped him.

25 Und1161 als5613 Petrus4074 hineinkam1096, ging1525 ihm Cornelius entgegen und fiel4098 zu seinen846 Füßen4228 und betete4352 ihn an1909.

26 But Simon Peter raised him, saying, Stand up; I am but a man also.

26 Petrus4074 aber1161 richtete450 ihn846 auf1453 und2504 sprach3004: Stehe auf1453; ich846 bin1510 auch2504 ein Mensch444.

27 And after he had talked with him, he went in and found a great many people had come there.

27 Und2532 als er846 sich mit ihm besprochen hatte4926, ging er hinein1525 und2532 fand2147 ihrer viel4183, die zusammenkommen4905 waren.

28 So he said to them, You know well that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with a stranger who is not of his tribe; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

28 Und5037 er sprach5346 zu4314 ihnen: Ihr846 wisset1987, wie5613 es ein ungewohnet Ding111 ist2076 einem jüdischen2453 Mann435, sich zu2853 tun oder2228 zu kommen4334 zu einem Fremdling246; aber2532 GOtt2316 hat1166 mir1698 gezeiget, keinen3367 Menschen444 gemein2839 oder2228 unrein169 zu heißen3004.

29 This is why I came at once when you sent for me: but now let me ask you, for what reason have you sent for me?

29 Darum habe ich mich3165 nicht geweigert369 zu kommen2064, als ich bin hergefordert3343. So2532 frage4441 ich euch nun3767, warum5101 ihr3056 mich habt lassen fordern.

30 Then Cornelius said to him, Four days I have been fasting; and at three o'clock in the afternoon while I was praying in my house, a man dressed in white garments stood before me.

30 Cornelius sprach5346: Ich1799 habe2252 vier5067 Tage2250 gefastet3522 bis3360 an diese Stunde5610, und2532 um die5026 neunte1766 Stunde5610 betete4336 ich in1722 meinem3450 Hause3624. Und siehe2400, da trat2476 ein Mann435 vor575 mich3450 in einem hellen2986 Kleide2066

31 And said to me, Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are a memorial before God.

31 und2532 sprach5346: Cornelius, dein4675 Gebet4335 ist erhöret, und2532 deiner4675 Almosen1654 ist gedacht3415 worden vor1799 GOtt2316.

32 But send to the city of Joppa and bring Simon, who is called Peter; behold he is staying in the house of Simon Bur-sa'ya, the tanner, by the seaside: and he will come and talk with you.

32 So sende nun3767 gen Joppe2445 und2532 laß3992 herrufen3333 einen Simon4613 mit1722 dem3739 Zunamen1941 Petrus4074, welcher3739 ist3854 zur Herberge3579 in1519 dem Hause3614 des Gerbers1038 Simon4613 an3844 dem Meer2281; der wird dir4671, wenn er3778 kommt, sagen2980.

33 At that very time I sent for you, and you have done well to come. Behold we are all here present before you, and we wish to hear everything commanded thee from God.

33 Da3918 sandte3992 ich von5259 Stund‘ an1824 zu4314 dir4571. Und5037 du4771 hast wohl2573 getan4160, daß du3767 kommen bist. Nun3767 sind wir2249 alle3956 hier3568 gegenwärtig3918 vor1799 GOtt2316, zu hören191 alles3956, was dir4671 von GOtt2316 befohlen ist3854.

34 Then Simon Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

34 Petrus4074 aber1161 tat seinen Mund4750 auf455 und sprach2036: Nun erfahre ich mit1909 der2076 Wahrheit225, daß3754 GOtt2316 die Person4381 nicht3756 ansiehet,

35 But among all people, he who fears him and works righteousness is accepted with him.

35 sondern235 in1722 allerlei3956 Volk1484, wer ihn846 fürchtet5399 und2532 recht1343 tut2038, der ist2076 ihm846 angenehm1184.

36 For God sent the word to the children of Israel, preaching peace and tranquility by Jesus Christ: he is the LORD of all.

36 Ihr wisset wohl von der3056 Predigt, die3778 GOtt zu den Kindern Israel2474 gesandt hat649, und verkündigen lassen2097 den Frieden1515 durch1223 JEsum2424 Christum5547 ( welcher3739 ist2076 ein HErr2962 über alles3956),

37 And you also are familiar with the news which was published throughout Judµa, which sprang from Galilee, after the baptism preached by John;

37 die3739 durchs ganze3650 jüdische Land2449 geschehen1096 ist und3326 angefangen756 in575 Galiläa1056 nach2596 der Taufe908, die Johannes2491 predigte2784:

38 Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, whom God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, and who, because God was with him, went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil.

38 wie5613 GOtt2316 denselbigen JEsum von575 Nazareth3478 gesalbet hat5548 mit3326 dem Heiligen40 Geiste4151 und2532 Kraft1411; der5259 umhergezogen ist1330 und2532 hat wohlgetan2109 und gesund2390 gemacht alle3956, die3739 vom Teufel1228 überwältiget waren2616; denn3754 GOtt2316 war2258 mit ihm2424.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did throughout the land of Judµa and in Jerusalem. This very one the Jews crucified on a cross and killed him:

39 Und2532 wir2249 sind2070 Zeugen3144 alles3956 des, was3739 er getan4160 hat im1722 jüdischen2453 Lande5561 und5037 zu1722 Jerusalem2419. Den3739 haben sie getötet337 und2532 an1909 ein Holz3586 gehänget.

40 Him God raised on the third day, and showed him openly;

40 Denselbigen hat1453 GOtt2316 auferwecket am dritten5154 Tage2250 und2532 ihn846 lassen offenbar werden1096,

41 Not to all the people, but to us who have been chosen by God to be his witnesses, for we did eat and drink with him after his resurrection from the dead.

41 nicht3756 allem3956 Volk2992, sondern235 uns2254, den vorerwählten4401 Zeugen3144 von5259 GOtt2316, die3748 wir mit4906 ihm846 gegessen und2532 getrunken haben, nachdem3326 er846 auferstanden ist450 von1537 den Toten3498.

42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify, that it is he who was ordained by God to be the judge of the living and of the dead.

42 Und2532 er846 hat uns2254 geboten3853, zu predigen2784 dem3588 Volk2992 und2532 zu zeugen1263, daß3754 er ist2076 verordnet3724 von GOtt2316 ein Richter2923 der5259 Lebendigen2198 und2532 der Toten3498.

43 To him, all the prophets testified that whosoever believes in his name shall receive remission of sins.

43 Von diesem5129 zeugen3140 alle3956 Propheten4396, daß durch1223 seinen846 Namen3686 alle3956, die an1519 ihn846 glauben4100, Vergebung859 der Sünden266 empfangen2983 sollen.

44 While Simon Peter spoke these words, the Holy Spirit descended on all who heard the word.

44 Da Petrus4074 noch2089 diese5023 Worte3056 redete2980, fiel1968 der Heilige40 Geist4151 auf1909 alle3956, die191 dem Wort4487 zuhöreten.

45 And the Jewish converts who had come with him were seized with amazement because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Gentiles also;

45 Und2532 die3745 Gläubigen4103 aus1537 der Beschneidung4061, die mit4905 Petrus4074 kommen waren, entsetzten1839 sich, daß3754 auch2532 auf1909 die Heiden1484 die Gabe1431 des Heiligen40 Geistes4151 ausgegossen ward1632.

46 For they heard them speak with divers tongues, and magnify God.

46 Denn1063 sie846 höreten, daß sie mit Zungen1100 redeten2980 und2532 GOtt2316 hoch preiseten. Da5119 antwortete611 Petrus4074:

47 Then Simon Peter said to them, Can any man forbid water, that these people who have received the Holy Spirit, just as we have, should not be baptized?

47 Mag auch2532 jemand5100 das Wasser5204 wehren2967, daß3361 diese5128 nicht1410 getaufet werden907, die3748 den Heiligen40 Geist4151 empfangen2983 haben gleichwie2531 auch wir2249?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ. And they urged him to remain with them a few days.

48 Und5037 befahl4367, sie zu taufen907 in1722 dem Namen3686 des846 HErrn2962. Da5119 baten2065 sie ihn, daß er846 etliche5100 Tage2250 dabliebe1961.
