第11章

1 信則所望若旣得、未見而可憑、

2 古人若此、而得嘉許、

3 吾惟信、知天地以上帝命而造、有形由無形而出、

4 亞伯有信、獻祭與上帝、較該隱尤善、故上帝嘉其義、許其禮、是以亞伯雖沒、其言不朽、

5 以諾有信、不死而接於天、爲上帝所接、後人不復見之、未接之先、見悅於上帝、而獲嘉許、

6 苟不信、不能爲上帝所悅、蓋謁上帝之人、必信有上帝、賞賫夫求之者、

7 挪亞得上帝默示未來之事、信而畏之、遂造方舟、以救其眷屬、於是挪亞罪此世、信而得稱義、

8 亞伯拉罕有信、遵上帝命、出故鄉、至後所得之地、當出時、不知所往、

9 爲旅於上帝許賜之地、猶在異邦、以撒雅各亦蒙上帝所許、與亞伯拉罕各居於幕、

10 俟上帝所建造鞏固之邑、

14 如是者、明言其欲得土、

15 彼若思所出之故鄉、則有轉機、

16 然其所慕者、於天有至樂之國、故上帝雖爲彼上帝、而不以爲恥、爲之備邑、

17 亞伯拉罕被試時有信、而獻子以撒於上帝、

18 彼有嫡子一人、雖蒙上帝許、言出自以撒者爲其苗裔、而亦獻之、

19 自以爲上帝能由死甦之、由是而觀、則謂其死而復生也可、

20 以撒有信、論及未來之事、爲雅各以掃祝嘏、

21 雅各有信臨沒時、猶扶杖拜上帝、爲約瑟之二子祝嘏、

38 流離轉徙、或荒野、或山巔、或地穴、若此之人、世不足居之、

39 此皆稱有信、但未得上帝所許、

40 蓋上帝爲我備至善之福、然古人不有我今日、則福弗備、

Chapter 11

1 Now1161 faith4102 is the substance5287 of things4229 hoped1679 for, the evidence1650 of things not seen.991

2 For by it the elders4245 obtained3140 a good report.3140

3 Through faith4102 we understand3539 that the worlds165 were framed2675 by the word4487 of God,2316 so1519 that things which3588 are seen991 were not made1096 of things which do appear.5316

4 By faith4102 Abel6 offered4374 to God2316 a more excellent4119 sacrifice2378 than3844 Cain,2535 by which3739 he obtained3140 witness3140 that he was righteous,1342 God2316 testifying3140 of his gifts:1435 and by it he being dead599 yet2089 speaks.2980

5 By faith4102 Enoch1802 was translated3346 that he should not see1492 death;2288 and was not found,2147 because1360 God2316 had translated3346 him: for before4253 his translation3331 he had this testimony,3140 that he pleased2100 God.2316

6 But without5565 faith4102 it is impossible102 to please2100 him: for he that comes4334 to God2316 must1163 believe4100 that he is, and that he is a rewarder3406 of them that diligently1567 seek1567 him.

7 By faith4102 Noah,3575 being warned5537 of God of things not seen991 as yet,3369 moved2125 with fear,2125 prepared2680 an ark2787 to the saving4991 of his house;3624 by the which3739 he condemned2632 the world,2889 and became1096 heir2818 of the righteousness1343 which is by faith.4102

8 By faith4102 Abraham,11 when he was called2564 to go1831 out into1519 a place5117 which3739 he should3195 after3195 receive2983 for an inheritance,2817 obeyed;5219 and he went1831 out, not knowing1987 where4226 he went.2064

9 By faith4102 he sojourned3939 in the land1093 of promise,1860 as in a strange245 country, dwelling2730 in tabernacles4633 with Isaac2464 and Jacob,2384 the heirs4789 with him of the same promise:1860

10 For he looked1551 for a city4172 which has2192 foundations,2310 whose3739 builder5079 and maker1217 is God.2316

11 Through faith4102 also2532 Sara4564 herself846 received2983 strength1411 to conceive2602 seed,4690 and was delivered5088 of a child5088 when she was past3844 age,2244 because1893 she judged2233 him faithful4103 who had promised.1861

12 Therefore1352 sprang1080 there even2532 of one,1520 and him as good as dead,3499 so many as the stars798 of the sky3772 in multitude,4128 and as the sand285 which3588 is by the sea2281 shore5491 innumerable.382

13 These3778 all3956 died599 in faith,4102 not having received2983 the promises,1860 but having seen1492 them afar4207 off, and were persuaded3982 of them, and embraced782 them, and confessed3670 that they were strangers3581 and pilgrims3927 on1909 the earth.1093

14 For they that say3004 such5108 things declare1718 plainly1718 that they seek1934 a country.3968

15 And truly,3303 if1487 they had been mindful3421 of that country from where3739 they came1831 out, they might have2192 had2192 opportunity2540 to have returned.344

16 But now3570 they desire3713 a better2909 country, that is, an heavenly:2032 why1352 God2316 is not ashamed1870 to be called1941 their God:2316 for he has prepared2090 for them a city.4172
