第15章

1 提幔人以利法回答說：

2 智慧人豈可發出虛空的知識［utter vain knowledge］，用東風充滿肚腹呢？

3 他豈可用無益的話和無濟於事的言語理論呢？

4 你是廢棄敬畏的意，在神面前禁止祈求［restrainest prayer］。

5 你的口吐出自己的罪孽［thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity］；你選用詭詐人的舌頭。

6 你自己的口定你有罪，並非是我；你自己的嘴見證你的不是。

7 你豈是第一個被生的人嗎？你受造在諸山之先嗎？

8 你曾聽見神的密旨嗎？你還將智慧獨自得盡嗎？

9 你知道甚麼是我們不知道的呢？你明白甚麼是我們不明白的呢？

10 我們這裏有白髮的和年紀老邁的，比你父親還老。

11 神用溫和的話安慰你，你以為太小嗎？你有甚麼隱藏的事嗎［is there any secret thing with thee］？

12 你的心為何將你帶走［carry thee away］？你的眼無視甚麼［what do thy eyes wink at］？

13 使你的靈反對神，也任你的口發這言語？

14 人是甚麼，竟算為潔淨呢？婦人所生的是甚麼，竟算為義呢？

15 看哪［Behold］，神不信靠他的眾聖民［saints］；在他看來［sight］，諸天［heavens］也不潔淨。

16 何況那喝罪孽如水的世人，不更污穢可憎麼［How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water］？

17 我指示你，你要聽；我要述說所看見的，

18 就是智慧人從他們［their］列祖所受，傳說而不隱瞞的。

19 這地唯獨賜給他們，並沒有外人從他們中間經過。

20 惡人一生之日勞碌痛苦［travaileth with pain］；欺壓者一生的年數也被隱藏［the number of years is hidden to the oppressor］。

21 驚嚇的聲音常在他耳中；在亨通［prosperity］時，毀滅者［the destroyer］必臨到他那裏。

22 他不信自己能從黑暗中轉回；他被刀劍等候。

23 他漂流在外求食，說：哪裏有食物呢？他知道黑暗的日子在他手邊預備好了。

24 急難困苦叫他害怕，而且勝了他，好像君王預備上陣一樣。

25 他伸手攻擊神，自壯其力［strengtheneth himself］攻擊全能者。

26 他挺著頸項，向全能者─向擋牌的厚凸面直闖［He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers］；

27 是因他的臉蒙上脂油，腰積成肥肉。

28 他住在［dwelleth in］荒涼城邑，無人居住、將成亂堆的房屋。

29 他不得富足，財物不得常存，其全盛在地上不得長久［neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth］。

30 他不得出離黑暗。火燄要將他的枝子燒乾；因神口中的氣，他要離去［go away］。

31 不容他這被欺哄的［Let not him that is deceived］倚靠虛假，因虛假必成為他的報應。

32 他的日期未到之先，這事必成就；他的枝子不得青綠。

33 他必像葡萄樹的葡萄，未熟而落；又像橄欖樹的花，一開而謝。

34 原來偽善之人的會必成荒場［congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate］；受賄賂之人的帳棚必被火燒。

35 他們所懷的是毒害，所生的是虛假［vanity］；心裏所預備的是詭詐。

3 Should he reason3198 with unprofitable5532 talk?1697 or with speeches4405 with which he can do5953 no3808 good?3276

4 Yes,637 you cast6565 off fear,3374 and restrain1639 prayer7878 before6440 God.410

5 For your mouth6310 utters502 your iniquity,5771 and you choose977 the tongue3956 of the crafty.6175

6 Your own mouth6310 comdemns7561 you, and not I: yes, your own lips8193 testify6030 against you.

7 Are you the first7223 man120 that was born?3205 or were you made2342 before6440 the hills?1389

8 Have you heard8085 the secret5475 of God?433 and do you restrain1639 wisdom2451 to yourself?413

9 What4100 know3045 you, that we know3045 not? what understand995 you, which1931 is not in us?

18 Which834 wise2450 men have told5046 from their fathers,1 and have not hid3582 it:

19 To whom1992 alone905 the earth776 was given,5414 and no3808 stranger2114 passed5674 among8432 them.

20 The wicked7563 man travails2342 with pain all3605 his days,3117 and the number4557 of years8141 is hidden6845 to the oppressor.6184

21 A dreadful6343 sound6963 is in his ears:241 in prosperity7965 the destroyer7703 shall come935 on him.

22 He believes539 not that he shall return7725 out of darkness,2822 and he is waited6822 for of the sword.2719

23 He wanders5074 abroad5074 for bread,3899 saying, Where346 is it? he knows3045 that the day3117 of darkness2822 is ready3559 at his hand.3027

14 人是甚麼，竟算為潔淨呢？婦人所生的是甚麼，竟算為義呢？

15 看哪［Behold］，神不信靠他的眾聖民［saints］；在他看來［sight］，諸天［heavens］也不潔淨。

19 這地唯獨賜給他們，並沒有外人從他們中間經過。

20 惡人一生之日勞碌痛苦［travaileth with pain］；欺壓者一生的年數也被隱藏［the number of years is hidden to the oppressor］。

21 驚嚇的聲音常在他耳中；在亨通［prosperity］時，毀滅者［the destroyer］必臨到他那裏。

22 他不信自己能從黑暗中轉回；他被刀劍等候。
