第8章

1 當日，亞哈隨魯王把猶太人仇敵哈曼的家產賜給王后以斯帖。末底改也來到王面前，因為以斯帖已經告訴王，末底改是她的親屬。

2 王摘下自己的戒指，就是從哈曼追回的，給了末底改。以斯帖派末底改管理哈曼的家產。

3 以斯帖又俯伏在王腳前，流淚哀告，求他除掉亞甲族哈曼害猶太人的惡謀。

4 王向以斯帖伸出金權杖［sceptre］。以斯帖就起來，站在王前，

5 說：「亞甲族哈米大他的兒子哈曼設謀傳旨，要殺滅在王各省的猶太人。現今王若願意，我若在王眼前蒙恩，王若以為有理［right］，若喜悅我，請王另下旨意，廢除哈曼所傳的那旨意。

6 我何忍見我本族的人受害？何忍見我同宗的人被滅呢？」

7 亞哈隨魯王對王后以斯帖和猶太人末底改說：「看哪［Behold］。因哈曼要下手害猶太人，我已將他的家產賜給以斯帖，人也將哈曼掛在木架上。

8 現在你們可以隨意奉王的名寫諭旨給猶太人，用王的戒指蓋印；因為奉王名所寫、用王戒指蓋印的諭旨，人都不能廢除。」

9 三月，就是西彎月二十三日，將王的書記召來，按著末底改所吩咐的，用各省的文字、各族的方言，並猶太人的文字方言寫諭旨，傳給那從印度直到埃塞俄比亞一百二十七省的猶太人和總督省長首領。

10 末底改奉亞哈隨魯王的名寫諭旨，用王的戒指蓋印，交給騎馬的、騎騾的、騎駱駝並少壯獨峰駝的［on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries］驛卒，傳到各處。

11 諭旨中，王准各省各城的猶太人聚集保護性命，全然毀滅［destroy］殺戮滅絕那要攻擊猶太人的一切勢力［power］和他們的妻子兒女，奪取他們的財為掠物。

12 就是一日於哈隨魯王的各省［Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus］之間，十二月，就是亞達月十三日。

13 抄錄這諭旨，頒行各省，宣告各族，使猶太人預備等候那日，在仇敵身上報仇。

14 於是騎騾［mules］和駱駝［camels］的驛卒被王命催促，急忙起行；諭旨也傳遍書珊宮［palace］。

15 末底改穿著藍色白色的朝服，頭戴大金冠冕，又穿紫色細麻布的衣服［garment］，從王面前出來；書珊城的人民都歡喜［rejoiced］快樂。

16 猶太人有光榮，歡喜快樂而得尊貴。

17 王的諭旨所到的各省各城，猶太人都歡喜快樂，設擺筵宴，以那日為吉日。那國的人民，有許多因懼怕猶太人，就入了猶太籍。

Esther

Chapter 8

1 On that1931 day3117 did the king4428 Ahasuerus325 give5414 853 the house1004 of Haman2001 the Jews'3064 enemy6887 unto Esther635 the queen.4436 And Mordecai4782 came935 before6440 the king;4428 for3588 Esther635 had told5046 what4100 he1931 was unto her.

2 And the king4428 took off5493 853 his ring,2885 which834 he had taken5674 from Haman,4480 2001 and gave5414 it unto Mordecai.4782 And Esther635 set7760 853 Mordecai4782 over5921 the house1004 of Haman.2001

3 And Esther635 spoke1696 yet again3254 before6440 the king,4428 and fell down5307 at6440 his feet,7272 and besought2603 him with tears1058 to put away5674 853 the mischief7451 of Haman2001 the Agagite,91 and his device4284 that834 he had devised2803 against5921 the Jews.3064

4 Then the king4428 held out3447 853 the golden2091 scepter8275 toward Esther.635 So Esther635 arose,6965 and stood5975 before6440 the king,4428

5 And said,559 If518 it please2895 5921 the king,4428 and if518 I have found4672 favor2580 in his sight,6440 and the thing1697 seem right3787 before6440 the king,4428 and I589 be pleasing2895 in his eyes,5869 let it be written3789 to reverse7725 853 the letters5612 devised4284 by Haman2001 the son1121 of Hammedatha4099 the Agagite,91 which834 he wrote3789 to destroy6 853 the Jews3064 which834 are in all3605 the king's4428 provinces: 4082

6 For3588 how349 can I endure3201 to see7200 the evil7451 that834 shall come unto4672 853 my people?5971 or how349 can I endure3201 to see7200 the destruction13 of my kindred?4138

7 Then the king4428 Ahasuerus325 said559 unto Esther635 the queen4436 and to Mordecai4782 the Jew,3064 Behold,2009 I have given5414 Esther635 the house1004 of Haman,2001 and him they have hanged8518 upon5921 the gallows,6086 because5921 834 he laid7971 his hand3027 upon the Jews.3064

8 Write3789 ye859 also for5921 the Jews,3064 as it liketh2896 5869 you, in the king's4428 name,8034 and seal2856 it with the king's4428 ring:2885 for3588 the writing3791 which834 is written3789 in the king's4428 name,8034 and sealed2856 with the king's4428 ring,2885 may no369 man reverse.7725

9 Then were the king's4428 scribes5608 called7121 at that1931 time6256 in the third7992 month,2320 that1931 is, the month2320 Sivan,5510 on the three7969 and twentieth6242 day thereof; and it was written3789 according to all3605 that834 Mordecai4782 commanded6680 unto413 the Jews,3064 and to413 the lieutenants,323 and the deputies6346 and rulers8269 of the provinces4082 which834 are from India4480 1912 unto5704 Ethiopia,3568 a hundred3967 twenty6242 and seven7651 provinces,4082 unto every province4082 4082 according to the writing3791 thereof, and unto every people5971 5971 after their language,3956 and to413 the Jews3064 according to their writing,3791 and according to their language.3956

11 Wherein834 the king4428 granted5414 the Jews3064 which834 were in every3605 city5892 5892 to gather themselves together,6950 and to stand5975 for5921 their life,5315 to destroy,8045 to slay,2026 and to cause to perish,6 853 all3605 the power2428 of the people5971 and province4082 that would assault6696 them, both little ones2945 and women,802 and to take the spoil7998 of them for a prey,962

12 Upon one259 day3117 in all3605 the provinces4082 of king4428 Ahasuerus,325 namely, upon the thirteenth7969 6240 day of the twelfth8147 6240 month,2320 which1931 is the month2320 Adar.143

13 The copy6572 of the writing3791 for a commandment1881 to be given5414 in every3605 province4082 4082 was published1540 unto all3605 people,5971 and that the Jews3064 should be1961 ready6264 against that2088 day3117 to avenge themselves5358 on their enemies.4480 341

14 So the posts7323 that rode upon7392 mules7409 and camels327 went out,3318 being hastened926 and pressed on1765 by the king's4428 commandment.1697 And the decree1881 was given5414 at Shushan7800 the palace.1002

15 And Mordecai4782 went out3318 from the presence4480 6440 of the king4428 in royal4438 apparel3830 of blue8504 and white,2353 and with a great1419 crown5850 of gold,2091 and with a garment8509 of fine linen948 and purple:713 and the city5892 of Shushan7800 rejoiced6670 and was glad.8055

16 The Jews3064 had1961 light,219 and gladness,8057 and joy,8342 and honor.3366

1 當日，亞哈隨魯王把猶太人仇敵哈曼的家產賜給王后以斯帖。末底改也來到王面前，因為以斯帖已經告訴王，末底改是她的親屬。
