Daniel

Chapter 8

1 In the third7969 year8141 of the reign4438 of king4428 Belshazzar1112 a vision2377 appeared7200 unto413 me, even unto me589 Daniel,1840 after that310 which appeared7200 unto413 me at the first.8462

2 And I saw7200 in a vision;2377 and it came to pass,1961 when I saw,7200 that I589 was at Shushan7800 in the palace,1002 which834 is in the province4082 of Elam;5867 and I saw7200 in a vision,2377 and I589 was1961 by5921 the river180 of Ulai.195

3 Then I lifted up5375 mine eyes,5869 and saw,7200 and, behold,2009 there stood5975 before6440 the river180 a259 ram352 which had two horns:7161 and the two horns7161 were high;1364 but one259 was higher1364 than4480 the other,8145 and the higher1364 came up5927 last.314

4 I saw7200 853 the ram352 pushing5055 westward,3220 and northward,6828 and southward;5045 so that no3808 3605 beasts2416 might stand5975 before6440 him, neither369 was there any that could deliver5337 out of his hand;4480 3027 but he did6213 according to his will,7522 and became great.1431

5 And as I589 was1961 considering,995 behold,2009 a he goat6842 5795 came935 from4480 the west4628 on5921 the face6440 of the whole3605 earth,776 and touched5060 not369 the ground:776 and the goat6842 had a notable2380 horn7161 between996 his eyes.5869

6 And he came935 to5704 the ram352 that had1167 two horns,7161 which834 I had seen7200 standing5975 before6440 the river,180 and ran7323 unto413 him in the fury2534 of his power.3581

7 And I saw7200 him come close5060 unto681 the ram,352 and he was moved with anger4843 against413 him, and smote5221 853 the ram,352 and broke7665 853 his two8147 horns:7161 and there was1961 no3808 power3581 in the ram352 to stand5975 before6440 him, but he cast him down7993 to the ground,776 and stamped upon7429 him: and there was1961 none3808 that could deliver5337 the ram352 out of his hand.4480 3027

8 Therefore the he goat6842 5795 waxed very great:1431 5704 3966 and when he was strong,6105 the great1419 horn7161 was broken;7665 and for8478 it came up5927 four702 notable ones2380 toward the four702 winds7307 of heaven.8064

9 And out of4480 one259 of4480 them came forth3318 a259 little4480 4704 horn,7161 which waxed exceeding great,1431 3499 toward413 the south,5045 and toward413 the east,4217 and toward413 the pleasant6643 land.

10 And it waxed great,1431 even to5704 the host6635 of heaven;8064 and it cast down5307 some of4480 the host6635 and of4480 the stars3556 to the ground,776 and stamped upon7429 them.

11 Yea, he magnified1431 himself even to5704 the prince8269 of the host,6635 and by4480 him the daily8548 sacrifice was taken away,7311 and the place4349 of his sanctuary4720 was cast down.7993

12 And a host6635 was given5414 him against5921 the daily8548 sacrifice by reason of transgression,6588 and it cast down7993 the truth571 to the ground;776 and it practiced,6213 and prospered.6743

13 Then I heard8085 one259 saint6918 speaking,1696 and another259 saint6918 said559 unto that certain6422 saint which spoke,1696 How long5704 4970 shall be the vision2377 concerning the daily8548 sacrifice, and the transgression6588 of desolation,8074 to give5414 both the sanctuary6944 and the host6635 to be trodden under foot?4823

14 And he said559 unto413 me, Unto5704 two thousand505 and three7969 hundred3967 days;6153 1242 then shall the sanctuary6944 be cleansed.6663

15 And it came to pass,1961 when I, even I589 Daniel,1840 had seen7200 853 the vision,2377 and sought1245 for the meaning,998 then, behold,2009 there stood5975 before5048 me as the appearance4758 of a man.1397

16 And I heard8085 a man's120 voice6963 between996 the banks of Ulai,195 which called,7121 and said,559 Gabriel,1403 make this1975 man to understand995 853 the vision.4758

17 So he came935 near681 where I stood:5977 and when he came,935 I was afraid,1204 and fell5307 upon5921 my face:6440 but he said559 unto413 me, Understand,995 O son1121 of man:120 for3588 at the time6256 of the end7093 shall be the vision.4758

18 Now as he was speaking1696 with5973 me, I was in a deep sleep7290 on5921 my face6440 toward the ground:776 but he touched5060 me, and set5975 me upright.5921 5977

19 And he said,559 Behold,2009 I will make thee know3045 853 what834 shall be1961 in the last end319 of the indignation:2195 for3588 at the time appointed4150 the end7093 shall be.

20 The ram352 which834 thou sawest7200 having1167 two horns7161 are the kings4428 of Media4074 and Persia.6539

21 And the rough8163 goat6842 is the king4428 of Greece:3120 and the great1419 horn7161 that834 is between996 his eyes5869 is the first7223 king.4428

22 Now that being broken,7665 whereas four702 stood up5975 for8478 it, four702 kingdoms4438 shall stand up5975 out of the nation,4480 1471 but not3808 in his power.3581

23 And in the latter time319 of their kingdom,4438 when the transgressors6586 are come to the full,8552 a king4428 of fierce5794 countenance,6440 and understanding995 dark sentences,2420 shall stand up.5975

24 And his power3581 shall be mighty,6105 but not3808 by his own power:3581 and he shall destroy7843 wonderfully,6381 and shall prosper,6743 and practice,6213 and shall destroy7843 the mighty6099 and the holy6918 people.5971

25 And through5921 his policy7922 also he shall cause craft4820 to prosper6743 in his hand;3027 and he shall magnify1431 himself in his heart,3824 and by peace7962 shall destroy7843 many:7227 he shall also stand up5975 against5921 the Prince8269 of princes;8269 but he shall be broken7665 without657 hand.3027

26 And the vision4758 of the evening6153 and the morning1242 which834 was told559 is true:571 wherefore shut thou up859 5640 the vision;2377 for3588 it shall be for many7227 days.3117

27 And I589 Daniel1840 fainted,1961 and was sick2470 certain days;3117 afterward I rose up,6965 and did6213 853 the king's4428 business;4399 and I was astonished8074 at5921 the vision,4758 but none369 understood995 it.

Daniel

Chapter 8

1 IN the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.

2 And I saw in my vision and it came to pass, I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in my dream that I was standing by the river Abol Ulai.

3 Then I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, there stood before the river Abol a ram which had two horns; and the two horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last.

4 I saw the ram pushing westward and northward and southward: and no beasts could stand before him, and there was none that could deliver out of his hands; but he did according to his will, and became great.

5 And as I was considering it, behold, a he-goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, without harming the ground, and the he-goat had a prominent horn between his eyes.

6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river Abol, and ran against him in the fury of his power.

7 And when he reached the ram, he was furious against him, and struck the ram and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground and stamped upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of the hands of the he-goat.

8 Therefore the he-goat became exceedingly great; and when he was strong, his great horn was broken; and there came up four prominent ones under it towards the four winds of heaven.

9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which grew exceedingly great, toward the south and toward the east;

10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground and stamped upon them.

11 And it magnified itself even to the prince of the host, and it took away from him the continual sacrifice, and demolished the place of his sanctuary.

12 And a host was given to him against the continual sacrifice by reason of transgression, and the holy thing was cast down to the ground, and the horn went ahead and prospered.

13 Then I heard a saint speaking, and another saint said to that certain saint who spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual sacrifice, and how soon will the iniquity and corruption be over and the holy thing and host be trodden under foot?

14 And he said to him, For two thousand and three hundred days; then righteousness shall prevail.

15 And it came to pass when I, Daniel, had seen this vision and sought to understand it, then behold, there stood before me as it were the appearance of a man.

16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, who called and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

17 So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid and fell upon my face; but he said to me, Understand, O Son of man; for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in deep sleep on my face toward the ground; but he touched me and set me upright.

19 And he said to me, Behold, I will show you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation; for at the expiration of the time appointed the end shall be.

20 The ram which you saw with two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia.

21 And the he-goat is the king of Greece, and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

22 And as for the horn that was broken, and there rose four others under it, four kings shall rise up out of the nation, but not by their own power.

23 And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressions are come to an end, a king of fierce countenance who understands riddles shall arise.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall cause terrible destruction, and shall prosper and cross over and destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 And through his craft and treachery his dominion shall prosper, and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and suddenly he shall destroy many; and he shall also rise up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be defeated easily.

26 And the vision of the morning and the evening which has been told is true; and as for you, Daniel, keep this vision a secret, for it shall not be for many days.

27 And I, Daniel, trembled and was troubled for some days; then I rose up and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

1 In the third7969 year8141 of the reign4438 of king4428 Belshazzar1112 a vision2377 appeared7200 unto413 me, even unto me589 Daniel,1840 after that310 which appeared7200 unto413 me at the first.8462

1 IN the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.

2 And I saw in my vision and it came to pass, I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in my dream that I was standing by the river Abol Ulai.

3 Then I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, there stood before the river Abol a ram which had two horns; and the two horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last.

4 I saw the ram pushing westward and northward and southward: and no beasts could stand before him, and there was none that could deliver out of his hands; but he did according to his will, and became great.

5 And as I was considering it, behold, a he-goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, without harming the ground, and the he-goat had a prominent horn between his eyes.

6 And he came935 to5704 the ram352 that had1167 two horns,7161 which834 I had seen7200 standing5975 before6440 the river,180 and ran7323 unto413 him in the fury2534 of his power.3581

6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river Abol, and ran against him in the fury of his power.

7 And when he reached the ram, he was furious against him, and struck the ram and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground and stamped upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of the hands of the he-goat.

8 Therefore the he goat6842 5795 waxed very great:1431 5704 3966 and when he was strong,6105 the great1419 horn7161 was broken;7665 and for8478 it came up5927 four702 notable ones2380 toward the four702 winds7307 of heaven.8064

8 Therefore the he-goat became exceedingly great; and when he was strong, his great horn was broken; and there came up four prominent ones under it towards the four winds of heaven.

9 And out of4480 one259 of4480 them came forth3318 a259 little4480 4704 horn,7161 which waxed exceeding great,1431 3499 toward413 the south,5045 and toward413 the east,4217 and toward413 the pleasant6643 land.

9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which grew exceedingly great, toward the south and toward the east;

10 And it waxed great,1431 even to5704 the host6635 of heaven;8064 and it cast down5307 some of4480 the host6635 and of4480 the stars3556 to the ground,776 and stamped upon7429 them.

10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground and stamped upon them.

11 Yea, he magnified1431 himself even to5704 the prince8269 of the host,6635 and by4480 him the daily8548 sacrifice was taken away,7311 and the place4349 of his sanctuary4720 was cast down.7993

11 And it magnified itself even to the prince of the host, and it took away from him the continual sacrifice, and demolished the place of his sanctuary.

12 And a host6635 was given5414 him against5921 the daily8548 sacrifice by reason of transgression,6588 and it cast down7993 the truth571 to the ground;776 and it practiced,6213 and prospered.6743

12 And a host was given to him against the continual sacrifice by reason of transgression, and the holy thing was cast down to the ground, and the horn went ahead and prospered.

13 Then I heard a saint speaking, and another saint said to that certain saint who spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual sacrifice, and how soon will the iniquity and corruption be over and the holy thing and host be trodden under foot?

14 And he said559 unto413 me, Unto5704 two thousand505 and three7969 hundred3967 days;6153 1242 then shall the sanctuary6944 be cleansed.6663

14 And he said to him, For two thousand and three hundred days; then righteousness shall prevail.

15 And it came to pass,1961 when I, even I589 Daniel,1840 had seen7200 853 the vision,2377 and sought1245 for the meaning,998 then, behold,2009 there stood5975 before5048 me as the appearance4758 of a man.1397

15 And it came to pass when I, Daniel, had seen this vision and sought to understand it, then behold, there stood before me as it were the appearance of a man.

16 And I heard8085 a man's120 voice6963 between996 the banks of Ulai,195 which called,7121 and said,559 Gabriel,1403 make this1975 man to understand995 853 the vision.4758

16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, who called and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

17 So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid and fell upon my face; but he said to me, Understand, O Son of man; for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

18 Now as he was speaking1696 with5973 me, I was in a deep sleep7290 on5921 my face6440 toward the ground:776 but he touched5060 me, and set5975 me upright.5921 5977

18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in deep sleep on my face toward the ground; but he touched me and set me upright.

19 And he said,559 Behold,2009 I will make thee know3045 853 what834 shall be1961 in the last end319 of the indignation:2195 for3588 at the time appointed4150 the end7093 shall be.

19 And he said to me, Behold, I will show you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation; for at the expiration of the time appointed the end shall be.

20 The ram352 which834 thou sawest7200 having1167 two horns7161 are the kings4428 of Media4074 and Persia.6539

20 The ram which you saw with two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia.

21 And the rough8163 goat6842 is the king4428 of Greece:3120 and the great1419 horn7161 that834 is between996 his eyes5869 is the first7223 king.4428

21 And the he-goat is the king of Greece, and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

22 Now that being broken,7665 whereas four702 stood up5975 for8478 it, four702 kingdoms4438 shall stand up5975 out of the nation,4480 1471 but not3808 in his power.3581

22 And as for the horn that was broken, and there rose four others under it, four kings shall rise up out of the nation, but not by their own power.

23 And in the latter time319 of their kingdom,4438 when the transgressors6586 are come to the full,8552 a king4428 of fierce5794 countenance,6440 and understanding995 dark sentences,2420 shall stand up.5975

23 And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressions are come to an end, a king of fierce countenance who understands riddles shall arise.

24 And his power3581 shall be mighty,6105 but not3808 by his own power:3581 and he shall destroy7843 wonderfully,6381 and shall prosper,6743 and practice,6213 and shall destroy7843 the mighty6099 and the holy6918 people.5971

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall cause terrible destruction, and shall prosper and cross over and destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 And through his craft and treachery his dominion shall prosper, and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and suddenly he shall destroy many; and he shall also rise up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be defeated easily.

26 And the vision4758 of the evening6153 and the morning1242 which834 was told559 is true:571 wherefore shut thou up859 5640 the vision;2377 for3588 it shall be for many7227 days.3117

26 And the vision of the morning and the evening which has been told is true; and as for you, Daniel, keep this vision a secret, for it shall not be for many days.

27 And I589 Daniel1840 fainted,1961 and was sick2470 certain days;3117 afterward I rose up,6965 and did6213 853 the king's4428 business;4399 and I was astonished8074 at5921 the vision,4758 but none369 understood995 it.

27 And I, Daniel, trembled and was troubled for some days; then I rose up and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
