8 Тогда соседи и те, кто привык видеть его просящим милостыню, спросили: «Не тот ли это человек, который, бывало, сидел там и просил милостыню?»

13 Тогда они отвели того человека, который был раньше слепым, к фарисеям.
14 День же, в который Иисус сделал грязь, смешав Свою слюну с пылью, и вернул слепому зрение, был субботой.
15 И фарисеи снова стали расспрашивать его, как он прозрел. Прозревший сказал им: «Он натёр мне глаза грязью, я умылся и вот теперь вижу».
16 Некоторые фарисеи стали говорить: «Этот Человек не от Бога, потому что Он не соблюдает субботу». Другие же говорили: «Как может грешник совершать такие знамения, как эти?» И среди них разгорелся спор.
17 И они снова спросили у прозревшего: «Этот Человек дал тебе зрение. Что ты можешь сказать о Нём?» Тот ответил: «Он — пророк».
18 Но иудейские предводители все же не хотели верить в то, что он был слепым и прозрел. Они послали за родителями прозревшего
19 и спросили их: «Ваш ли это сын, который, как вы говорите, родился слепым? Как же он теперь видит?»
20 Его родители ответили: «Мы знаем, что это наш сын и что он был рождён слепым,
21 но не знаем ни как он прозрел, ни кто дал ему зрение. Спросите у него самого! Он уже взрослый и сам может за себя говорить».
22 Его родители сказали так, потому что боялись иудейских предводителей, так как те уже решили, что если кто-нибудь признает Иисуса Христом, тотчас будет изгнан из синагоги.
23 Потому-то родители прозревшего и сказали: «Он взрослый, спросите у него!»
24 Тогда иудейские предводители опять призвали к себе прозревшего и сказали ему: «Воздай хвалу Богу, сказав правду! Мы знаем, что тот Человек — грешник».
25 Тогда прозревший ответил: «Я не знаю, грешник Он или нет. Я только знаю одно, что я был слеп, а теперь вижу!»
26 Тогда они спросили у него: «Что Он сделал с тобой? Как Он дал тебе зрение?»
27 Прозревший ответил: «Я уже сказал вам, но вы не стали слушать. Почему же вы хотите ещё раз услышать об этом? Или вы тоже хотите стать Его учениками?»
28 Тогда иудейские предводители стали поносить его: «Ты Его ученик, а мы ученики Моисея.
29 Мы знаем, что Моисею говорил Бог, а мы даже не знаем, откуда Этот Человек».
30 В ответ прозревший сказал им: «Странно, что вы не знаете, откуда Он, а Он дал мне зрение.
31 Мы знаем, что Бог не прислушивается к грешникам, а только к тем, кто предан Ему и исполняет Его волю.
32 Это не слыхано, чтобы кто-то дал зрение человеку, который родился слепым.
33 Если бы Этот Человек не был послан Богом, Он ничего подобного сделать не смог бы».
34 В ответ иудейские предводители сказали ему: «Ты утопал в грехе с самого рождения! И ещё и нас собираешься поучать?» Они выгнали его вон из синагоги и запретили ему туда возвращаться.
35 Иисус услышал, что иудейские предводители прогнали этого человека из синагоги и, отыскав его, спросил: «Веришь ли ты в Сына Человеческого?»
