Chapter 14

1 LET not your heart be troubled; believe in God, and believe in me also.

2 In my Father's house there are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and take you to me, so that where I am, you may be also.

4 You know where I am going, and you know the way.

5 Thomas said to him, Our Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man comes to my Father except by me.

7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; from henceforth you know him and you have seen him.

8 Philip said to him, Our Lord, show us the Father, and that is enough for us.

9 Jesus said to him, All this time I have been with you, and yet you do not know me, Philip? he who sees me, has seen the Father; and how do you say, Show us the Father?

10 Do you not believe that I am with my Father and my Father is with me? * the words that I speak, I do not speak of myself; but my Father who abides with me, he does these works.

11 Believe that I am with my Father, and my Father is with me; and if not, believe because of the works.

12 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes in me, the works which I do he shall do also; even greater than these things he shall do, because I am going to my Father.

13 And whatever you ask in my name, I will do it for you, so that the Father may be glorified through his Son.

14 If you ask me in my own name, I will do it.

15 If you love me, then obey my commandments.

16 And I will ask of my Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of the truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it has not seen him, and does not know him; but you know him because he abides with you, and is in you.

18 I will not leave you orphans, for I will come to you after a little while.

19 And the world will not see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also shall live.

20 In that day you will know that I am with my Father, and you are with me, and I am with you.

21 He who has my commandments with him and obeys them, he is the one who loves me; he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and reveal myself to him.

22 Judas (not of Iscariot) said to him, My Lord, why is it that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?

23 Jesus answered and said to him, He who loves me, keeps my word; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make a place of abode with him.

24 But he who does not love me, does not keep my word; and this word which you hear, is not mine own, but the Father's who sent me.

25 I have spoken these things to you, while I am with you.

26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom my Father will send in my name, he will teach you everything, and remind you of everything which I tell you.

27 Peace I leave with you; my own peace I give you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, and do not be afraid.

28 You heard that I told you, I am going away, and I will come to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice because I am going to my Father; for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now behold, I have told you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you may believe.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you; for the prince of this world comes; and yet he has nothing against me.

31 But that the world may know that I love my Father, and as my Father has commanded me, so I do. Arise, let us go away from here.

約翰福音

第14章

1 「你們心裏不要憂愁；你們信神，也當信我。

2 在我父的家裏，有許多大宅［mansions］。若是沒有，我就早已告訴你們了。我去原是為你們預備地方去。

3 我若去為你們預備了地方，就必再來接你們到我那裏去，我在哪裏，叫你們也在那裏。

4 我往哪裏去，你們知道；那條路，你們也知道［And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know］。」

5 多馬對他說：「主啊，我們不知道你往哪裏去，怎麼知道那條路呢？」

6 耶穌說：「我就是道路、真理、生命；若不藉著我，沒有人能到父那裏去。

7 你們若認識我，也就認識我的父。從今以後，你們認識他，並且已經看見他。」

8 腓力對他說：「求主將父顯給我們看，我們就知足了。」

9 耶穌對他說：「腓力，我與你們同在這樣長久，你還不認識我嗎？人看見了我，就是看見了父；你怎麼說『將父顯給我們看』呢？

10 我在父裏面，父在我裏面，你不信嗎？我對你們所說的話，不是憑著自己說的，乃是住在我裏面的父作他自己的事。

11 你們當信我，我在父裏面，父在我裏面；即或不信，也當因我所作的事信我。

12 我實實在在的告訴你們，我所作的事，信我的人也要作，並且要作比這更大的事，因為我往父那裏去。

13 你們奉我的名無論求甚麼，我必成就，叫父因兒子得榮耀。

14 你們若奉我的名求甚麼，我必成就。」

15 「你們若愛我，就遵守［keep］我的命令。

16 我要求父，父就另外賜給你們一位安慰者［Comforter］，叫他永遠與你們同在。

17 就是真理的靈［Spirit］，乃世人不能接受的；因為不見他，也不認識他。你們卻認識他，因他常與你們同在，也要在你們裏面。

18 我不會使你們得不到安慰［not leave you comfortless］，我必到你們這裏來。

19 還有不多的時候，世人不再看見我，你們卻看見我；因為我活著，你們也要活著。

20 到那日，你們就知道我在我［my］父裏面，你們在我裏面，我也在你們裏面。

21 有了我的命令又遵守的，這人就是愛我的；愛我的必蒙我父愛他，我也要愛他，並且要向他顯現。」

22 猶大，不是加略人猶大，對［unto］耶穌說：「主啊，你怎麼［how is it that thou］要向我們顯現，不向世人顯現呢？」

23 耶穌回答說：「人若愛我，就必遵守我的道；我父也必愛他，並且我們要到他那裏去，與他同住。

24 不愛我的人就不遵守我所說的［sayings］；你們所聽見的道不是我的，乃是差我來之父的道。」

25 「我還與你們同在［present］的時候，已將這些話對你們說了。

26 但安慰者［Comforter］，就是父因我的名所要差來的聖靈，他要將一切的事指教你們，並且要叫你們想起我對你們所說的一切話。

27 我留下平安給你們；我將我的平安賜給你們。我所賜的，不像世人所賜的。你們心裏不要憂愁，也不要膽怯。

28 你們聽見我對你們說了，我去還要到你們這裏來。你們若愛我，因我說［because I said］我到父那裏去，就必喜樂，因為我［my］父是比我大的。

29 現在事情還沒有成就，我預先告訴你們，叫你們到事情成就的時候就可以信。

30 以後我不再和你們多說話，因為這世界的王將到。他在我裏面是毫無所有；

31 但要叫世人知道我愛父，並且父怎樣吩咐我，我就怎樣行。起來，我們走吧。」

1 「你們心裏不要憂愁；你們信神，也當信我。

2 In my Father's house there are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

2 在我父的家裏，有許多大宅［mansions］。若是沒有，我就早已告訴你們了。我去原是為你們預備地方去。

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and take you to me, so that where I am, you may be also.

3 我若去為你們預備了地方，就必再來接你們到我那裏去，我在哪裏，叫你們也在那裏。

4 You know where I am going, and you know the way.

4 我往哪裏去，你們知道；那條路，你們也知道［And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know］。」

5 Thomas said to him, Our Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?

5 多馬對他說：「主啊，我們不知道你往哪裏去，怎麼知道那條路呢？」

6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man comes to my Father except by me.

6 耶穌說：「我就是道路、真理、生命；若不藉著我，沒有人能到父那裏去。

7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; from henceforth you know him and you have seen him.

7 你們若認識我，也就認識我的父。從今以後，你們認識他，並且已經看見他。」

8 Philip said to him, Our Lord, show us the Father, and that is enough for us.

8 腓力對他說：「求主將父顯給我們看，我們就知足了。」

9 Jesus said to him, All this time I have been with you, and yet you do not know me, Philip? he who sees me, has seen the Father; and how do you say, Show us the Father?

9 耶穌對他說：「腓力，我與你們同在這樣長久，你還不認識我嗎？人看見了我，就是看見了父；你怎麼說『將父顯給我們看』呢？

10 Do you not believe that I am with my Father and my Father is with me? * the words that I speak, I do not speak of myself; but my Father who abides with me, he does these works.

10 我在父裏面，父在我裏面，你不信嗎？我對你們所說的話，不是憑著自己說的，乃是住在我裏面的父作他自己的事。

11 Believe that I am with my Father, and my Father is with me; and if not, believe because of the works.

11 你們當信我，我在父裏面，父在我裏面；即或不信，也當因我所作的事信我。

12 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes in me, the works which I do he shall do also; even greater than these things he shall do, because I am going to my Father.

15 If you love me, then obey my commandments.

16 And I will ask of my Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you for ever;

16 我要求父，父就另外賜給你們一位安慰者［Comforter］，叫他永遠與你們同在。

17 Even the Spirit of the truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it has not seen him, and does not know him; but you know him because he abides with you, and is in you.

17 就是真理的靈［Spirit］，乃世人不能接受的；因為不見他，也不認識他。你們卻認識他，因他常與你們同在，也要在你們裏面。

18 I will not leave you orphans, for I will come to you after a little while.

18 我不會使你們得不到安慰［not leave you comfortless］，我必到你們這裏來。

19 And the world will not see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also shall live.

19 還有不多的時候，世人不再看見我，你們卻看見我；因為我活著，你們也要活著。

20 In that day you will know that I am with my Father, and you are with me, and I am with you.

20 到那日，你們就知道我在我［my］父裏面，你們在我裏面，我也在你們裏面。

21 He who has my commandments with him and obeys them, he is the one who loves me; he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and reveal myself to him.

21 有了我的命令又遵守的，這人就是愛我的；愛我的必蒙我父愛他，我也要愛他，並且要向他顯現。」

22 猶大，不是加略人猶大，對［unto］耶穌說：「主啊，你怎麼［how is it that thou］要向我們顯現，不向世人顯現呢？」

23 耶穌回答說：「人若愛我，就必遵守我的道；我父也必愛他，並且我們要到他那裏去，與他同住。

24 But he who does not love me, does not keep my word; and this word which you hear, is not mine own, but the Father's who sent me.

24 不愛我的人就不遵守我所說的［sayings］；你們所聽見的道不是我的，乃是差我來之父的道。」

25 I have spoken these things to you, while I am with you.

25 「我還與你們同在［present］的時候，已將這些話對你們說了。

26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom my Father will send in my name, he will teach you everything, and remind you of everything which I tell you.

26 但安慰者［Comforter］，就是父因我的名所要差來的聖靈，他要將一切的事指教你們，並且要叫你們想起我對你們所說的一切話。

27 Peace I leave with you; my own peace I give you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, and do not be afraid.

27 我留下平安給你們；我將我的平安賜給你們。我所賜的，不像世人所賜的。你們心裏不要憂愁，也不要膽怯。

28 You heard that I told you, I am going away, and I will come to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice because I am going to my Father; for my Father is greater than I.

28 你們聽見我對你們說了，我去還要到你們這裏來。你們若愛我，因我說［because I said］我到父那裏去，就必喜樂，因為我［my］父是比我大的。

29 現在事情還沒有成就，我預先告訴你們，叫你們到事情成就的時候就可以信。

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you; for the prince of this world comes; and yet he has nothing against me.

30 以後我不再和你們多說話，因為這世界的王將到。他在我裏面是毫無所有；

31 But that the world may know that I love my Father, and as my Father has commanded me, so I do. Arise, let us go away from here.

31 但要叫世人知道我愛父，並且父怎樣吩咐我，我就怎樣行。起來，我們走吧。」
